  1. So you go to someone's house and crack on their wife and you don't expect them to respond? Really? Grow up, learn some manners, and learn to take constructive criticism. You're not impervious to correction, fro. And if our little conversation is so "over the top" that you're thinking about leaving, you'd better never, ever spend time on a Missouri Fan Site.
  2. I guess the difference between Missouri Fan and Nebraska Fan is that we actually have something to talk smack about. I suppose when your "greatest team ever" can only earn a 10-4 record with a couple of humiliating blowouts and a tie in their division with a pretty weak Nebraska team, you really don't have much to be proud of. But you keep looking down your nose at Nebraska fans. I was only playing in what I said, you sir just gave a perfect example as to why most other teams think of nebraska fans a stuck up little...well use your imagination. BTW last years team obviously wasnt the best ever. The 07 team was better and the 1960 team that got robbed of a NC because of the cheating Jayhawks, also, would have been better. But you know. Not having a meaningful win in 8 years and having your arse handed to you while your staduim empties before halftime on a number of occasions over the past few years can bring out the prick in people.. but you go right on ahead and look down your nose at me and other while talking about glory years from 15 years ago when this conference was a joke and had 6 nobodys every year. I guess when others started getting better and you fell off the map, you have to have something to be proud of... And this, sir, is exactly why I responded to you in such a way. You just go right on ahead calling me/us out for being proud of our team when we have what? Five MNCs and 800-something wins, and bragging rights BY FAR in our head-to-head series. You don't come to a fan site of ANY team and disrespect them like you did, even if you were "playing," and not expect to get your comeuppance. You can get hurt all you want, but your "playing" wasn't clear and obvious. You don't laugh at my team on a site dedicated to it and not expect to take some grief. You would get the same on a site dedicated to Iowa State, Baylor, even Middle Tennessee State. Show some respect to the team you're talking about, especially when your own team has done nothing to boast about... ever.

  4. One day? How about since 11/23/2001? We haven't had much to boast about since then, by Nebraska standards.
  5. Keller's problem wasn't that he wasn't humble or unwilling to learn, it was that by the time he got here the program was such a cluster that just about nothing was going to work. Keller had nothing to do with the defensive implosion or the need to constantly play catch-up. If we'd have had a decent defense around him, Keller would have been just fine. I'm not going to go so far as to say he'd have been the second coming of Zac Taylor, but he would have been sufficient for our needs.
  6. I don't have a game pic, but this is the shot I took from the spot where he let it fly when I visited the stadium this June...
  7. I don't care if one guy or one carload of guys painted Sal is Dead on a sign. It's not indicative of what Nebraska Fans are about. Every fan who I care to associate myself with loathes even the idea of doing such a thing. There are murderers in the State Pen here in Lincoln who are Husker Fans. You want to associate yourself with them? You think they're indicative of the fan base? Get real. One sign doesn't throw the whole fan base under the bus.
  8. Right. Colorado fan has been screwing with Husker Fan for the last thirty years for something that happened 15 years ago. Makes perfect sense. You know that's not true. Until McCartney circled us as the game of the year, there wasn't a rivalry. Their fans didn't act like it was a rivalry. Their fans didn't screw with us thirty years ago. I live closer to Boulder than I do to Lincoln. In order to go to Huskers games, we used to go to Boulder. It didn't get bad until 15 or so years ago. We stopped going by the mid-90's because it got too bad for us. No, I know that IS true. It's not like McCartney suddenly changed the atmosphere of Boulder so much that their fans suddenly became unruly and hostile, and it's not like they're ONLY hostile towards Husker fans. They're this way to everyone, and they've been like this since before McCartney. Clearly it has ramped up during and since his tenure, but let's not kid ourselves and pretend that McCartney invented this kind of behavior in Boulder, or that it didn't exist before him.
  9. Great! Does that mean they'll turn it up even louder this year?
  10. Did you miss the part about not using the sound system as a balance for those that don't want to hear all the "noise" Love the boards, now crank up the sound! I've sat in the North Stadium for years. They can say whatever they want about the sound system, but especially since they put up the new video board, it's EXTREMELY loud. The bulk of the sound comes from that complex, and it's loud enough to carry over crowd noise to the South Stadium. That's what I'm talking about. Too loud.
  11. The only issue I have with the stadium now is that all the sound comes from the North stadium and if you're sitting there you could blow out an eardrum.
  12. tmfr15, nothing you're saying would be different if you substituted Missouri for Colorado, or Kansas for Colorado, or even Kansas State for Colorado. As Nebraska has waned all three have risen, to the point where everyone but Iowa State has been beating us on a semi-regular basis lately. Even the Cyclones have a couple of wins over Nebraska in the past ten years. None of the things you're bringing up separate Colorado from any other team in the Big XII North. You're describing a CONFERENCE OPPONENT, not a RIVAL. Close game scores over the past two decades mean they're an improving football team. Most every team in the nation wins most every game they play by the kinds of margins we've had with Colorado over the years. This is nothing special, again.
  13. Again, simply saying it's a rivalry does not make it a rivalry. Colorado is not Nebraska's rival any more than Iowa State is Nebraska's rival. The players feel nothing special toward Colorado and the coaches and fans view it as just another game with the same importance as playing Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State and/or Iowa State. There is nothing "special" about Colorado to us. Nothing. Sal Aunese's life and tragic death doesn't make this series a rivalry. That premise is flawed from the outset. There is absolutely nothing about a Colorado loss during the Sal Aunese era that is remarkable for Nebraska fans any more than a loss to Iowa State or Missouri would be remarkable. Apparently you're not very clear on what a "rival" is.
  14. Absolutely there are bad fans everywhere, including bad Husker Fans. I think there isn't a Husker Fan out there who would claim that EVERYONE who wears our colors is a good person, or exhibits good sportsmanship. We've all heard the stories of poor behavior in Memorial Stadium. The difference is that those folks are in the VAST minority in our ranks. Now, as to whether this is a "rivalry" with Colorado... I can't understand why anyone would think there is a rivalry. A "rival" is someone with whom you compete; a contemporary, someone who has a legitimate chance to take the place you own or covet. Colorado has nothing we covet. They don't have more wins, more conference championships, more award winners, more national championships, more academic all-americans, more attendance, more revenue, more fans, more head-to-head wins, more... anything. They are nothing we want to be, they have nothing we want, and they have no chance of equaling our success either on the field or in the classroom. Why in the world would they be a "rival" to Nebraska? I could see it if Colorado was even close, even close to Nebraska in any of those categories, but they're not. There isn't a single measuring stick by which you gauge a great program that they're within a country mile of us. Not one. So where does this talk of a "rivalry" come from? Because Colorado put our name in red on their schedule for a while? Because their fans want it to be a rivalry? If it's that simple to create a rivalry, what good is a rivalry? Rivalries are born on two fronts, not one. If it was as simple to create a rivalry as Colorado fan would have you believe, then any team could be any other team's rival. Here endeth the lesson.
  15. Let's pretend this really happened, as alleged, and that it really was a Husker fan who did this. All of those points are unproven and debatable, but let's just pretend for a moment it's completely true. So what? So some idiot who doesn't understand the first thing about what it means to be a Husker Fan actually spray-painted that on a sign. One guy. Maybe even a car full of guys - let's say five. Out of how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Husker Fans out there, and the quite literally millions of Husker Fans from the past 40 years? They're still going on, to this day, about the actions of one guy? One car full of guys? We're still hearing about that, nearly 20 years later, from Buff Fan. 20 years. And this is all they've got. Meanwhile, any one of us can cite, off the tops of our heads, about half a dozen shenanigans perpetrated by dozens, if not hundreds, of Buff Fans every single year. Every year. The mere fact that they keep whining about "Sal is dead Go Big Red" nearly 20 years after it allegedly happened is actually a point they make in favor of the respectability of Husker Fans. They've got to go back 20 years to an incident that I can't find a shred of proof on, despite nearly half a year of web searching. To this day it's being used as an excuse for their behavior. Give me a break.
  16. Right. Colorado fan has been screwing with Husker Fan for the last thirty years for something that happened 15 years ago. Makes perfect sense.
  17. Really really. Hard to believe, I know, but true. Here's the bottom ten (comments by the author omitted, but worth a read) 1. Alabama 2. Pittsburgh 3. Texas 4. Rutgers 5. Penn State 6. Kentucky 7. North Carolina (tie) 7. Ohio State (tie) 9. LSU 10. Texas Tech
  18. Colorado isn't mentioned, oddly enough. It's a nation-wide thing, not just Big XII. Still, I don't know how you leave off a fan base with Colorado's track record....?
  19. Sorry about that. Dad gets that way sometimes. I'll talk to him. Seriously, though - that does happen, and it's a constant gripe by many Husker fans as well. I hear it all the time, and it's not going to stop. Blue Hairs will be Blue Hairs.
  20. True, but Leach also seems to find these fast little WRs that produce like demons as well. They'll score a bunch of points. Again. But their defense will be suspect. Again. I think Leach is returning most of his starters on defense this year, as I recall. If that man had half the talent on defense as he has implementing an offense, Tech could be scary. As it is, they give up far too many points to teams that they shouldn't.
  21. Exactly. Leach has a system that can usually plug-and-play. Look back over the QBs he's had and the stats they've put up. It's crazy. I know they're losing one of their all-time greats in Graham Harrell, but Kliff Kingsbury, B. J. Symons, Sonny Cumbie and Cody Hodges all did very, very well in this system. Check this out: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/11070145 There is absolutely no reason to think that Taylor Potts, who has been in the system now for three years, won't excel with that kind of results from Leach's other QBs.
  22. Ah. Yes. Bad memories. I see I was involved in my own little debate there and wasn't paying much attention to the other one. Thanks for reminding me. Moving on... =)
  23. This is pretty much how I would pick them, too. I think people are underestimating Texas Tech and perhaps overestimating OK State, but we'll see.
