  1. You guys just have absolutely no clue what most Husker Fans are upset about, do you?
  2. What's wrong with that? It's not like he said his team isn't pathetic and others are. In fact, he should know pathetic better than any of us. Ohhhhhh SNAP!!! (just kidding, Cy)
  3. 21-0? I can't believe with all the "will he stay" threads that get posted every day that NOT ONE person yet thinks he has a chance to be here next year! Or are all of those threads just to bait everyone into responding? I'm getting that impression more and more....
  4. It's great that you had a good time. Most every game is like that at Memorial Stadium. It's a great, fun place to watch a game. I hope you have a lot more experiences just like that one.
  5. I must have missed all the threads you've started discussing X's and O's. If that's what you want to talk about, nobody's stopping you. I'd bet you would get a lot of response if you wanted to discuss that stuff. I know I would join in. A big problem about talking alignment and whatnot is not having a chalkboard to use. If you can figure out a way around that I think we could have some pretty good discussions about what works, what to do, what not to do, blah blah blah applesauce.
  6. Respectfully, there is no point to this post.
  7. And that is where I think folks getting this idea Callahan may just be kept as HC. If Callahan is willing to make coaching changes and Osborne feels comfortable with that decision (ORRRRR...if Osborne is unable to get the new HC he wants), Callahan may just be around for another year or even two. Highly unlikely, but not out of the question either. Sigmund Freud would like us to know - Callahan and Co. are gone.
  8. Dude, your repeated attempts to come up with some angle to absolve the Callahan staff of losing this team are getting old. Just let it go.
  9. Why should he show "remorse"? He's not obligated to say that his whole system and method of coaching are wrong when he fails. He's said many times that he is responsible for the product out on the field, and that he is extremely disappointed and hurt by how the season has turned out. What more do you want? "I am a terrible coach and I resign?" He's not going to say that, nor should he. He's still going to believe in what he teaches, and he's going to continue coaching to the best of his ability, which I really think he is doing. I'm not standing up for the job he's done. I just think it's wrong for everybody to act like Bill Callahan has done a terrible thing for which he needs to apologize. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying Callahan has failed to put a proper product out on that field, and he has failed to properly correct the problem. Don't go overboard here.
  10. ... and this couldn't have been put in Robsker's thread why? Locking in 3... 2... 1....
  11. It is important to remember that TO did NOT make the decision to play LP because of his talent. That had NOTHING to do with that call. We had Ahman Green, who was fully capable of handling RB duties against Florida. The two main reasons TO put Phillips back on the field were A.) LP showed remorse for what he had done, and convinced TO that he intended to change his ways; and B.) TO feared that cutting LP loose would cause him to spiral out of control and he could wind up in prison or worse. Callahan shows no remorse. Callahan either believes or has certainly given the impression that he believes that he is doing everything right, and there is no need for him to change his ways. He has been recalcitrant throughout his entire tenure at UNL. There's no comparison between the two situations whatsoever.
  12. It is 99.9999999% likely that it was someone right here in Lincoln, who considers themselves to be a Husker Fan. It's possible that it was some fan of another team just being stupid, but it's highly improbable.
  13. One of the women I work with is a CU alum and she couldn't be a bigger Husker fan. I don't think his wife's alma mater is going to affect how he does his job much.
  14. If Nebraska beats Colorado we are going to a bowl. That's been decided. Notice that this article doesn't even mention the Big XII.
  15. I get that you don't get what you're saying here. That's pretty obvious.
  16. Go look up the term "self-loathing" before you post again, Robsker. That goes for anyone else willing to throw themselves under the bus because someone who wears the same color shirt they do did something bad. Amazing.
  17. Four years is more than enough time to evaluate your defensive coordinator. Four games is plenty of time. This isn't Kansas - the expectations are far higher here at Nebraska. Any coach taking this job had better know what he's doing from the start, not learn on the fly. Further, Callahan has known Cosgrove for years. This isn't the first time he's seen this guy. No, he's had WAY more time than he needs to evaluate KC. Now, if you think this is the first year anyone has had a problem with Cosgrove's defense you weren't paying very close attention in 2004. 70-10 against Texas Tech should have grabbed your attention. On top of that, all you had to do was ask a Wisconsin fan what they thought of KC when he left them in 2003. They were ecstatic! They wanted that guy out of there something fierce. He was bollixing things up in Madison just like he's doing in Lincoln. I kind of get your point about the defense affecting the offense, but I think you're taking that way too far. Yes, momentum on one side of the ball can have an effect on the other side, but the reality is that it's the offense's job to score points. I fail to see how the defense was at fault when the O scored six points against an "OK" Missouri defense, or 14 points against not-too-good defenses from A&M and Okie State. I completely agree that we have playmakers on defense. Our cupboard is NOT bare, and I fully expect a completely different defense in 2008, as long as Kevin Cosgrove isn't running the show. TO does like to give people second chances, but I don't recall him giving that second chance to a person who shows no remorse. Callahan is unapologetic about the condition of this team. He insists that "the system is working" if you listen to his recent comments on Joe Ganz. That is not a man looking for a second chance - that is a man looking for another job. The Bill Callahan era is, thankfully, drawing to a close. Hopefully we can find a coach that fits in with the culture here, and we can remember these times only as "the bad old days," and maybe they'll just make us appreciate that much more the good times to come.
  18. If you think calling someone "clueless" is a personal attack worthy of a warning, you should see what's been posted about me - by Freemason, among others - in my brief time here. I didn't see anyone coming to my defense then. I shall not call anyone clueless again, however. Point taken. I agree with you FreeMason was out of line as well. Course he did have more tackles than you. Hey life should be fun. Be Happy all. Some Husker fans didn't wake up today. Hope all of you will for sometime. Yes, we both need to tone it down. I agree with that. I'm not looking for AR to give me a free pass, I'm just thinking the playing field should be level. But I did make my little "pledge," and I plan on sticking to it. No more Mr. Mean Guy from me. Like you said, NM - this should be fun. We are all Husker Fans, so no more bickering for me. Friend we are all in this together. Didn't seem to me that you had to take Juniors crap anymore than mine. We all get a little carried away sometimes but I think calmer heads are needed to make rational decisions don't you Junior? After all your Dad probably would of beaten my Dad up...but being the good Minister my Dad was you'd be the one paying in hell. J/K My dad's not a minister - but he has been an Elder in our church for 20+ years. Our dads would probably meet and suddenly break into a Bible study. Yeah I'm sure they would and then after carefully relating all the "Facts" in the Bible the real fight would begin. I'm certain that if you know all the facts you will enlighten us, right?
  19. I'll be there no matter who the coach is. It's a great day. Anytime you can see football in the spring, that's a good thing.
  20. Meh. They can take credit for that if they want, but the onus for the ending of that streak rests with us, not them. We had every chance to win that game, and were so lackluster, so dispirited, that we took ourselves out of any contention whatsoever. It was us, not them, that kept us out of a bowl game that year.
  21. That's a really great article. I'll remember many of those moments fondly. Unfortunately, the next article in this series is going to be brutal to read, and will show why he does, indeed, need to go.
  22. Great points. From what I've seen (and I don't focus on the sidelines at the game, so take this for what it's worth) Callahan seems to largely interact with the other coaches and the QBs, with a smattering of other players mixed in. I don't think that's very different than many other coaches, though. I think that's pretty normal, at least from what I recall.
