  1. espn360.com is another option, if your service provider has an agreement with ESPN.
  2. Wow, Oregon State came to play! And USC did not. They are getting pushed around, missing tackles, not making holes. 14-0!
  3. Its okay, I believe he's going off of press box accomidations and outside the stadium. Being "in the sea of red" is a whole different experience. GBR!!! Yeah, it seems like that's what he did. You'd think he'd have the sense to answer the question from a fan's perspective, but I guess not. It's pretty useless information to the rest of us. I can't put my finger on it but I wasn't impressed the times I've been at UT. For all the talk they do, they don't really seem to be into the game. Nothing like A&M, OU, and Nebraska. Tech is the only other Big 12 stadium I've been to, and I seem to have purged that game from a few years ago from my memory. Seems like we lost, didn't we? Oh yeah, and Baylor, which belongs towards the bottom. Nebraska loses points for limited butt room and really limited leg room. Personally, of course, I put it at #1, but I can see how an unbiased fan would choose Kyle Field.
  4. That's hilarious! Carl is so deadpan delivering it.
  5. Most of the time games are decided 13 days in advance. There are a limited number of weeks where the networks (ABC/ESPN may have the call on this) opt to defer until 6 days in advance. There is a pecking order, where ABC/ESPN gets first (and maybe second) choice, then Fox Sports, etc. I don't remember the whole order this year for the Big 12. This is how they are able to choose the better games and why you tend to see more of hot teams like ECU (was). The TV networks have the decision on which games they show, and thus they set our game times. I suppose it may be possible for an AD to say, no, we won't play a night game late in the year but maybe all they can do is request that and hope the networks honor it. There may be a bit more to it, but that's basically it. Because NU wasn't ranked and play nobodies, our games fell to PPV. We should be on a lot more from here on out, though you probably need to have Fox Sports MW or SW to get some of them. Some games are set well in advance, like the NU-CU game the day after turkey. Notre Dame has their contract with NBC for all home games.
  6. I kinda agree with that. Not going to obsess, but it's nice to be ranked. Last 2 weekends I wasn't at home and if you aren't top 25, good luck trying to find a score on the game. WV lost this weekend too, at 1-2 they have to drop out. And Florida State.
  7. #1 FALLS!! In the FCS, aka Div 1AA, that is. JMU comes back from 21 down to beat Appy St. I know ASU has the Husker connection with Jerry Moore, but my kid goes to JMU and is in the marching band. The only reason I wasn't at this game was that it was sold out months ago.
  8. What did Jason have to say about him? I hate Holtz. I hate listening to him, I hate looking at him, and while he obviously knows the game, his mind is too far gone to talk about it coherently for two sentences at a time. I used to love all of those studio and half time shows, Holtz has ruined it for me, especially since he is paired up with May.
  9. He's the "3rd down" throwing QB, which is going to be a tougher situation since the defense is expecting pass. Still, Wilson did outplay him. The pick was off his receiver's hands, though it was behind him on a crossing route. Not a good pass, not a terrible pass.
  10. First, it's not a poll, which means to me that some human makes a judgement, but a rating done by a computer program. And it's an unbiased program, meaning it has no pre-programmed indication that Ohio State is any good based on reputation or previous seasons. Ohio State beat Ohio and Youngstown St, neither of which has won any other games. So to the program, with the limited information it has, beating Ohio State isn't much of an accomplishment. As the season goes on, if Ohio State beats teams with winning records and wins most of its games, this will factor in as a bigger win. USC also beat Virginia, which is only 1-1 in its other games. Nebraska, on the other hand, beat SJ State and W Michigan, who won their other two games, and NM State in their only game. Nebraska is probably one of the few times to beat otherwise unbeaten teams, which is why this programs ranks them at #1.
  11. actually, they considered those exhibitions.........thats why in 1902 it says 9 wins in one place and 10 wins in another in the original post. OK, but still, there were wins over Doane, Grinnell, Haskell, and Knox. In other years they played Kirksville Osteopaths, KC Medics, Grand Island, Bellevue, Tarkio, and Creighton. None of those were called exhibitions. I have no idea what kind of competition these teams gave, but I suspect to get games in the area they were playing the equivalent of Div III through D1A teams. And the guy never won a bowl game for Nebraska!
  12. Get real, our champ got stomped by West Virginia last year, and couldn't beat Boise St the year before. I said Ohio State. Not West Virginia or Boise State. And I still stand behind that opinion. You're entitled to your opinion, but there's not much proof to back it up. The same year that Florida routed Ohio State, Ohio State beat Texas 24-7. In my opinion, you are wrong.
  13. It's one of the polls used in the BCS. As more games are played, the math starts to match up better with the better teams bubbling up to the top. Right now this is what you'd statistically call a poor sampling of games to base ratings on. That's one of the reasons they don't come out with the BCS rankings for a few more weeks.
  14. Get real, our champ got stomped by West Virginia last year, and couldn't beat Boise St the year before.
  15. Yep, they will all still be tied at 0-0. Other than a big matchup like Mizzou-Illinois, you can't tell much about most of these wins. You can tell something about the losses. I actually saw UMass in person last weekend. They are/were a top 10 D1AA team, and after a terrible start played pretty evenly with JMU in a 52-38 loss...JMU couldn't stay with Duke in the 2nd half earlier this year...UMass will get eaten up by TTech. They brought about 50 fans down to Virginia...I think the turnout will be less in Lubbock.
  16. It's more than just weather and being in LA. UCLA is in a nicer area and doesn't get whoever they want. Certainly Pete Carrol uses the weather and being in LA to his advantage but it's got to be a lot more than that. He manages to get top players even if they see a stack of skilled players at their position to compete with. Maybe everyone's mother is getting a nice house like Reggie Bush's mom. Carrol argued against the additional time coaches can't visit high schools and he was quoted as calling some other coaches lazy. Sounds like he works very hard and continuously to bring all of those players in. They aren't just falling from the sky. I don't know how he'd do in Norman or Lincoln. He may have found the perfect match at USC.
  17. I remember rooting for an opponent's kickoff to go out of the end zone, or for them to go 3 & out with a long punt (rather than a turnover) so we could get more offensive yardage. Only in blowout games, of course!
  18. It's been a few years since I've been in Raleigh for a game, but there would be 50-100 Husker fans at Sammy's. They treated us well there. Sometimes the game wouldn't go on a big TV until a previous game was over if it was for another team that used Sammy's as a watch site (like Florida, I recall once), but as soon as their game was over the TV was switched.
  19. Who'da thought that just about anytime before last year that you could look at that away schedule and think about how tough it is, and then take a second look and say, well, Florida State and A&M, those are winnable by CU...and Nebraska is rebuilding (but it's a given it's a CU loss)...but Missouri and Kansas, forget about winning those games!
  20. I'm at the other end of the state up in the mountains, but I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever down that way on a Saturday.
  21. Try Sammy's on Avent Ferry Rd off Western Blvd near the NC State campus in Raleigh. I had also heard there is a bar in Chapel Hill on Franklin St that shows the games but I don't remember the place or know if they still do. Sammy's web site advertises it. http://www.sammysncsu.com/fanClubs.asp
  22. That's funny, I always thought it was a vocal minority who wants black.
