  1. At the beginning of the season the Big10 bloggers for ESPN said NU could be 10-2 or 7-5, best case/worst case. Well folks, I'm sorry to say this but we're going to end up 7-5 unless something MAJOR happens. Taylor is not going to take us to the next level and our D is getting run over and around. We might be lucky to win 7....
  2. Yea man, sorry about that.
  3. I know it doesn't matter now....but, I just checked the ESPN site and saw Boise leading Fresno St 50-0 in the 3rd quarter. Is our D that bad that we let Fresno St gash us? Were we having a 'bad day'? Again, I know it doesn't matter but those are some staggering numbers.
  4. I'm sure Bo is just tired of hearing about it and he let a little bit out. I do agree that he needs to choose his words better and I'm sure TO told him.
  5. While I understand highlights are designed to sell a player, the things that stand out to me are not really 'editable'. The way he looks down field while scrambling and feeling the pressure is awesome. That kind of stuff isn't easily coached and he seems to have good awareness. I haven't seen him play a down of football and he may not be any better but in that film, he looks to be doing alright. If things keep going the way they are, we'll see him soon enough.
  6. This video is a highlight video but the 2 things to me that standout are this: 1) he's always looking down field to make a play - that shows awareness and composure 2) he has a much much much better throwing motion which typically allows for better throws/passes.
  7. I'm not worried about OSU, I'm more worried about NU. I'm just hoping we can play well and get some confidence in our step moving forward. I want a damn rematch with Wisconsin.
  8. I honestly think we need to mix up our packages. We tend to stay in 4-3 or nickel and man-to-man in a lot of cases with cover 2 help over the top. I'd love to see some mixing up like 5 man fronts or have a LB or S walk up. Cause some confusion before the snap. We tend to be very bland on D often times and it looks like we are playing too much zone, bend but don't break. I think we rely on our front 4 too much to get pressure, too.
  9. His mechanics are ridiculous. Even under no pressure at all, he looks like he's throwing in his front yard. Just lobbing the ball up in the air. :/
  10. Saw this on Twitter. Hopefully he puts this anger and aggression to good use: http://www.omaha.com/article/20111004/BIGRED/710049798
  11. I think the biggest issue with Taylor is that he makes a ton of mistakes. He's fumbled 2 dozen times and the often times just throws it up when things go bad. He panics. It's not that he's not talented or skilled, he's just not cool headed enough to be the QB at a big time school that is looking to to win a title whether it be Big10 or Natl title. We need somebody who is a dual threat and I honestly don't think that Taylor is that guy.
  12. Just ran across this tweet and felt that it was related to "why it hurts so much..." TravisLewis28 Travis Lewis by ESPN_BigTen I feel bad for nebraska . . Couldn't win In the big 12, then go to the big 10 and can't win. maybe conference usa would be a better fit
  13. I'll agree he's getting a lot of the blame and rightfully so. He threw three picks in critical times but at the same time, you have to set your offense up as a play caller and OC. You have to mix up the run (which was working pretty damn well) to setup the pass. That in the fact that throwing an INT shouldn't automatically mean 6 the other way unless it's a pick 6. The defense could have gotten a take away or they could have stopped Wisconsin too but of course, we didn't. It started unraveling and from there, we got beat up pretty bad and never regained any rhythm. I thought it would go that way especially with our young corners and WRs/OL but I'll say the DL played a lot better especially against the big, bad Wisconsin OL and also I thought our OL was doing a little better as well. The game is over now so we have to move on. There is a lot of football left and if we stay the course and improve, we can make a run at the Big10 title still and maybe have a shot at beating Wisconsin in the bowl game which, to me, would be better than beating them early and losing to them late.

    QB?

Frazier said that? I've been saying it for a while. I love Martinez but man, he's not a QB. He's an athlete but that's about it. Not only does he not run the offense well but he also puts the ball on the ground a lot and tonight, he's thrown 3 INTs and most of the other balls......were just bad.
  15. My buddy is a Bama fan and I predicted we'd lose by 30 and Bama would win by 30. Bama is up by 21 and well....I guess I'm half right. :/
  16. Wisconsin isn't happy with the score either. They are still running end arounds and misdirection plays. Very nice. Well, we deserve it. So far on this drive we've given them 2 free first downs with penalties.
  17. That play is exactly why I say Taylor Martinez is not a good QB. He's a great athlete with incredible speed but on a play like that...just chunk it out of the back of the end zone. Instead...we get 3 in a game where we're down by 27. Sweet.

    QB?

This is what I meant when I started this thread. Taylor Martinez is not a true QB. Wisconsin is showing us who a REAL QB is, Russel Wilson. He's picking up on the pressure and throwing smart passes. Taylor has put up 3 INTs and hasn't thrown well most of the night. It's his weakness, I understand that, but it's also a weakness to the entire offense because consistent QB play is powerful and in a conference like the Big 10 where defenses are typically good, we need it. We can't keep relying on feast or famine offense anymore.
  19. We may not score again but I'm sure Wisconsin will. We played well early...like I predicted but I knew we would get handled later on. The DL is playing much better, though.
  20. Obviously, we'll need to weather the early storm. That place will be rocking and they'll be looking to "welcome us to the big10" in a big way, I'm sure. I certainly hope we play well. If we don't have any turnovers and if our D is all healthy and playing their game, we can hang and could win. Nobody knows what Wisconsin looks like against a decent team so we'll find out. I just worry that they'll explode out of the gates and get up early and we will flounder trying to catch up.
  21. I think a bigger concern isn't that we lost those guys but it's that we haven't had guys to fill those roles. Hell, our offensive line was bought at Wal Mart 3 weeks ago.
  22. Call me foolish I guess because I'm going to assume Wisconsin is better, much much better, than any team we've stumbled against this season.
  23. If we play this way against Wisconsin, they'll hang 40+ on us without much of an issue. The biggest issue overall, in my opinion, is consistency - there's none. The defense can't be consistent in stops and the offense...it just looks like a guessing game every time the ball is snapped. Taylor is an amazing athlete but the way he just lobs it up sometimes....it's not going to end well against big time football programs. I said this in a separate post and of course, most people were defending him because we're 3-0 but honestly, he's not a true QB and we're using him because we have nobody better (as far as I can tell). The difference between Taylor and Denard Robinson is that Denard can throw the ball pretty well and he doesn't look to be throwing up prayers all the time. I hate to agree with the TS but this season will be a long one...no doubt. We may end up losing 3-5 games this year unless people start coming into their own. Also, it look like Dennard isn't @100% as on the long pass play they scored on, he pulled up pretty short and he looked like he was favoring his leg.
  24. With how our D played against Fresno State...I'm afraid of Wisconsin. They might go all Colorado on us and drop 60 on us.
  25. You just can't rely on home runs to win the game, though. Sometimes you need a base hit or a sac. bunt. Against better teams, those big plays will be few and far between so consistency is the key!
