  1. I don't know who is responsible for our end of game management on offense but they honestly deserve an F for this season. Like yesterday against Wisconsin, why didn't we try for the win? In OT a lot of times it comes down to kickers and that's asking a lot of a freshman, regardless of how good he is. And last week was the opposite, no time left so just take the 3 points, instead of we turn it over again. It's like we see the situation, and do the opposite of what you should do. Maybe they should listen to George Costanza: If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right
  2. Ugh, at least we came back. It's amazing that we came back and scored three times when the key plays were Fyfe coming in and running the offense super fast, Tommy throwing a game ending Int for a TD that goes through his hands to Westerkamp for 50 yards, and a punt return TD. Tommy is going to get benched with any more games like that, you can't miss guys out of the backfield over and over when they're wide open. That last INT wasn't his fault but at the same time, the WR making the cut had a defender in front of him, not like he was really open either (i.e. you're throwing a pass to a cutting receiver, but there's a defender who's closer to the ball than the receiver, albeit without momentum but still). I don't know if Fyfe is any better (super hyper every time he comes in, it's like his adrenaline is maxed out, lol) but he deserves to get a shot if this continues. But I was happy with the effort, defense played great.
  3. It was pretty awesome. I think the number I heard was around 2000 they thought, but it's hard to tell because even when there were all those people outside there were still 500 or more in the restuarant and auditorium basement. I traveled up from KC to go to it.
  4. Actually it was the police who stopped the Rumbles from coming to Milligan. I'm not sure how many people are going to be there tomorrow, I can't tell if it's going to be a few hundred or a few thousand. It should be pretty awesome other than the cold, lol.
  5. And here I thought watching the game that it was a brilliant coaching move as it was apparent in those first three series that Armstrong wasn't going to have any success today.
  6. The huskers don't always play a 2 gap scheme, most of the first half today they were playing 4 gaps or 1 one huge gap.
  7. I'm don't think Pelini has any room to complain about boos or people leaving, if Braxton doesn't get hurt Ohio St would have beat us by 30. Just like every other time we play a running qb, we get smoked, unless we hurt him (ohio st, michigan last year). Of course, it also worked in reverse against northwestern two years ago when when we hurt their qb so the runner could come in. Just wait until Michigan this year, another 20 point loss due to him running (unless we hurt him).
  8. Offensively, I didn't think that the game was a total disaster. What happened on several possessions in a row was that we'd gain 5 yards on 1st down, then get a penalty to put us in the 1st or 2nd and very long too go situations. Those situations are what kills the Nebraska offense and Martinez because instead of trying to stop the run they drop a lot more people into coverage...and instantly we forget about the run and try and make it all up in one play. Stop the stupid penalties and our offense could have put up a couple more scores for sure and with less turnovers. Defensively, hmmm, yeah, not good. It's almost like they're lacking a leader out there. Defensive line play + linebacker play just isn't up to snuff. Why that is I don't know for sure, but it sure seemed tonight like we were getting blown off the ball starting in the 2nd quarter. The secondary is just so young. Frankly, I think they should be bringing pressure on almost every play...with that, I feel like we have a chance to stop them. Without it, we don't get enough pressure or run stops from our front 4/7 to help out the secondary. Yes, we will get burned sometimes, but with a young secondary you almost have to do something to help them out. Leaving them on islands with no pass rush and questionable safety help is just very hard on the younger cb's. By far the best the D did tonight was when we blitzed, not sure why we didn't use it more (and when we use it, why is it always on 3rd down? So predictable, lol). Wisconsin is really good, but if you watch their qb he has the same issue that Martinez has in that if you close off his first look and get some pressure, he panics. Unfortunately we didn't get much pressure other than the blitzes and didn't really take away his first option either when we did blitz. If some opponent they play has a really good front 7, I could see them beating Wisconsin as I don't think that their defense is particularly strong...we shot ourselves in the foot more than anything else tonight.
