    hey

So if all things go as planned, arent we kicking all the other schools out of the Big12 and inviting the big10 to be the new Big12?
  2. The shoe is fun even for non OSU fans like me. If you go to a game I always avoid C-deck, I swear on a windy day you feel like you are going to fall on to the field plus the players look like dots...you are closer to the planes than the players. B-deck is good for when it rains. OSU games are fun even if you dont have tickets the tailgating is pretty good (dont tell anyone I said that). Only draw back is parking, you really need to know the tricks in order to find parking in the area. Get there early, and leave late or leave early, but you never leave with the other 100k+ people. Ill have more of a comparison once I get back from Nebraska's home opener. Never thought after planning this trip that there would be a possibility of them playing next door to me every year.
  3. There is something I havent really seen any of the writers or posters really mention in this frenzy of conference politics/corp take overs. Could Nebraska and Mizz to an extent be trying to force a coup on the big 12? Ideally all the parties in the Big12 would want to strengthen the conference. This whole thing could probably go away if the schools were actually made equals in the conference. Texas has way to much of a weighted vote (I dont mean just the horns but the state), there really is no chance for lower schools to ever really make an impact on the conference, because of the money sharing model. The big10 does it right, and nobody can argue that, because at the end of the day Ohio State gets just as much of the pie as Northwestern does. The money piece means that both schools are on equal footing, but are still allowed to make their own thing and make their own mark on the conference. It also means the schools still get money from all the other stuff they do, which is why ohio state is worth so much more than northwestern, but at the same time when they go to the table they are equals. Beebe has shown that he needs to be shown the door. The way he has handled this whole process has been pitiful. He has made the Big12 look like a bunch of schmucks. I doubt he is crazy/smart enough to have plotted out that this whole ordeal would finally create the rivalries the league has been missing. Cause I really see alot of grudge, and pride filled football coming up no matter what happens. We never really had a rivalry with Texas but this thing sure has made sure that the little fire is a full blown forest fire. As of right now texas and nu could go into october winless and it will still be a primetime game cause of the split this has put into the conference. If Nebraska can force beebe to fix the conference, like telling Texas they cant have their own channel, and maybe create its own channel/partnerships (make its own online streaming network) or promise the TV contracts for next year will fix the imbalances (shoot get rid of the provision where Big10 games trump Big12 on ABC/ESPN), they will become Saints in this league. Texas wants to pit everything on Nebraska because if we leave without declaring enough reasons why (I think there are plenty of reasons to back it up) they can blame Nebraska for destroying the league and not themselves. Long story short, all the talk has been about teams going and nothing about fixing the conference. And again, I live in cbus, so yeah Id love to be able to drive 10 miles down the street to see nebraska play every few years, but I also dont like the idea of the super conferences that are about to be formed. Get rid of Beebe and bring in somebody who has balls that can get the job done.
  4. If the recruits and players came to nebraska for the only reason being to play in texas then I think we recruited the wrong people. I doubt the coaches are going after those types of people....they are going for people that want to win national champs and be the best. So moving shouldnt hurt, unless we moved to something like the WAC or MAC. I would tell the kids, that you get to be on tv every week. The big10 network shows every game (that isnt on the bigger networks). I have uverse and the big10 network usually gets 5 different HD channels dedicated to all the games that are on....no regional blackouts. Also big10 espn rights are better than the big12 and when 2 games are at the same time big10 gets the go ahead....so that means more national games.....while the big12 game is b*******.
  5. But you also have these: MOD Edit - This is Woodshed material. Can't post potty-mouth words, even in pictures, on the regular forums. knapplc
  6. This is pretty much my opinion. I live in cbus so i can give my view of tOSU. Ohio state fans vary. There are the "fashion fans" that follow Ohio state when they are winning or so they can wear buckeyes to work. Next are the "tailgate fans" these are the ones that could never tell you what OSU's record is, who they are playing or even what the current score of the game is, but they can tell you where the best food/beer locations are for every home game (its handy to know one of these people). Then there are the "normal fans" They love tressel, but want him fired after every bowl game. They also have a love hate with tresselball....they love it cause it wins most games, they hate it because its so damn boring. I hate to say it but I think Ohio State and Nebraska fans are alot alike....(I think the stadiums were made by the same person). Columbus media views OSU, Penn St, Michigan, Wisc, and sometimes Iowa as the only real football programs.
  7. I still dont think it will happen, but if it did it would be awesome for me. It means that I would have more reason to go to ohio state games, it also means I could watch every game on tv without having to buy the college game day packages, and pay per view......So yeah Id love it. Hopefully nobody I know sees this....but I think the Big10 total package (school, sports, fans) is better than the big12 total package. Big12 has some good programs, but overall its not as good. I know several have said it, but if Nebraska leaves maybe they could play OU every year. The only schools I would miss are Kansas and OU. (Im assuming mizz would leave with us) The texas schools can go back to being the Lone Star conference. Oh and Im not afraid of losing recruits...because recruiting gets alot easier when you can tell an incoming player that you will be on TV every week in HD in pretty much every house. Where with the Big12 you can say....yeah we are on tv 2-3 times a year....and that only if there isnt a regional big10 game that takes higher rights on the national scene than big12 games for abc/espn.
  8. Hey thanks all for all the info. I got the plane tickets booked. United actually had 235 per person round trip from cbus to lincoln. Ive never see ticket prices that low for lincoln, so Im glad I dont have to worry about flying into omaha and then driving. I switched from marriot to the holiday inn due to some advice Ive received. I didnt go embassy cause I have points with both marriott and holiday inn, so I can get alot better rates. Now that ive got the hard part out of the way, i can take my time looking for a good deal on tickets. I am so stoked for this trip. I havent been to my home state in about 5 years. If you see a guy walking around all giddy like a little school girl thats probably me I think this trip may trump going to the world cup in germany 4 years ago to see the US play.
  9. Great advice. I was planning on booking the hotel and airfare now and then getting the tickets as gameday gets closer. Anyone know the avg taxi cost from the lincoln airport to downtown? Or would it be better to rent a car? Thanks for the info on seats, it sounds like memorial and the shoe are alot more alike than i thought. Do they still allow walk throughs of the stadium on fridays? Whats a good place to eat downtown? We wont be bringing our little one on this trip so we can enjoy the fun a little more My wife wants to make sure she can find a place to pick up one of the "Pelini" style Nebraska hoodies (she is a youngstown/cleveland) native.
  10. Sorry about double posting but I think Ill stand a better chance of gettting a reply here than in the planit board (last post there was in december) Id welcome feedback and information. Original Post So my wife just agreed to letting me plan my first trip ever to a husker football game. We will be coming from columbus ohio. Im planning on trying to get tickets for the sep 4th game against western ky. Ive never been to lincoln before, Im originally from the Kearney area but really grew up elsewhere.....anyhow the closest Ive ever gotten to lincoln is seeing it from I80 driving across the state to visit family. So long story short, I was looking at staying at the Cornhusker Marriott hotel downtown, and was wondering if that is a good location and within walking distance to the stadium. Also what is the best place to grab tickets. Ive noticed in some of the places like stubhub they are to my amazement cheaper than osu tickets (no im not a buckeye fan). Are there better areas in the stadium than others...hate to use an ohio state reference but there are certain areas in B deck where you sit behind pillars, and C deck makes you feel like you are one sneaze away from falling to your death. I feel like a little kid getting to plan this...Im all giddy, knowing that Ill finally get to go to a game....Ive been waiting for this since I was a little kid....only took a little over 30 years I want to experience the full game day that other people and friends have told me about, so any help would be very much welcomed.

  12. They gave him some time talking about how Del Rio sees alot of potential in him and sees him developing into a good tight end. He had one penalty and they said he is going to have to fight his DE tendancies. Potter ended up with only one catch, once Jax got way to far behind his play time was cut. Looks like he was being used for most of the short yardage plays in the first half. I hope he develops, Zach Miller also had a good game in the loss.
  13. I didnt realize that Jax took him. Im watching him against the browns and he plays Tight End now. He is getting lots of play time and has at least one catch so far. Im happy to see him playing plus its cool to see a person who shares my name in the NFL.
  14. I watched the post game press conference on the ljs page
  15. I think Asante deserves some props. He had an int and caused the fumble at the 1yd line. He was in position all night. Some people dog him here but he is going to be missed, he has developed into a great player in the secondary.
  16. I do like what Lee just said in his postgame. The press asked him if it felt weird to have the north wrapped up with a game to go, he answered with "no not really, isnt that the way it use to be?" These kids are starting to learn the swagger of being winners. Now I need to make sure my wife doesnt go into labor on friday, even though she did say I can put it on the tv if we happen to be in the hospital (which for that she rocks). I guess that wouldnt seem weird but I live in Buckeye central.

    Caption Diss

Another perfectly executed game management play.
  18. What the subject says. I think he is wearing number 14. He has only had one ball that I have seen thrown his way, but it was deflected at the line. He is doing alot of run blocking though.

    WTF!

ESPN is driving me nuts, they switch the feeds and never did it right. Game is suppose to be on ESPN here but they kept it on the ESPN2 feed which is the horse racing. THe web feed im watching is bad also....though it doesnt mask the horrible offensive play.
  20. I think the thing that burns the most about this loss is that its the first time in a very long time that we have lost like this. What do I mean???? In years past these games werent even competitive. We usually had the game lost by the time the 3rd quarter started. Tonight played pretty good football, we controlled every stat but lost it in the end. There were 2 bad things today.....the first play (74 yard kick return) and the last play (11 yard touchdown by v-tech). The loss has some positives to walk away from. I feel pretty good about the rest of the season, even though this loss is going linger with a bad stink for 7 more days.
  21. Swift did pretty good in my opinion. Lucky not so much, but he was in the top 10 in the 40. I dont put much weight on the 40 eventhough the talking heads like to use it as the main rating. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/nate-swift?id=81875 http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/marlon-lucky?id=71371
  22. That was the longest game I think Ive ever seen. Did CBS have some sort of special extended advertising deal for the change of posessions? The announcers were horrible yeah Im a lil biased but at least my wife who is an OSU (Ohio State) fan was the first to make the comment to me It wasnt just the commentators the production level was flat out bad. You'd think that cbs had never shown a football game with some of the angles, cuts, and replays they had. Normally I like their SEC coverage more than ABC/ESPN football coverage. Its sad that FOX is losing the BCS games I hope they can bid and pic up some other bowl games. They have by far the best announcers, coverage, and production value. Im watching the vtech vs cinci game and FOX is covering the game the way its suppose to be, and the announcers arent talking non stop about stupid crap.
  23. Thats cool there was another husker fan there I was across the street tailgating in B lot (the jesse owens plaza lot) with some friends...their family has had season tickets for over 60years. I was happy cause the put they tv on versus so I could watch the game I cared about.
  24. Yes its possible, look at Mizzou, look at Kansas, look at Vandy....I could keep going on with the list of schools that werent anywhere a few years ago. You need to be a smart recruiter and get kids that want to succeed. All it takes is a couple lucky recruits to make a program. From there you maintain. We can do that its going to take time.
  25. Sorry, but they are the only ones to blame for the ticky tack, stupid, lack of concentration penalties we picked up this half... You make sure your players are disciplined, and if any of them aren't you don't put them on the field Problem is we dont have any players to put out there. Next thing is we arent going to be rebuilt over night. Im not going to argue Im still hopefull for the future, Im also realistic. This is also just another game.
