  1. I have seen a lot of people saying "We love Bo.." but very few people are talking about WHY we should love Bo and be thankful to have him. This was an emotionally scared team from Callahan's last year. Bo reinvigorated this team with fight and a new winning attitude. He recovered the team's spirit after humiliating losses to Missouri and Oklahoma. He knows how to MOTIVATE! He (and this staff) also know how to gameplan and readjust. Look at all of the second half comebacks this year. Against V-Tech and Texas Tech, we were down at halftime to come back to nearly win. We were losing to Baylor at halftime, losing to Kansas in the third, and San Jose State had us on the ropes in the third. We bounced back to win those convincingly. More importantly, we beat every team we were supposed to beat. You could argue that we should have beat Virginia Tech, but they did finish the season strong. The Big 12 is set up perfectly for our return. We have the talent to win the North next year. I don't like our chances to beat OU or Texas in the Championship game, but establishing control on the North is more important right now. Once we get back to controlling the North year by year, we will begin to stockpile the talent to contend with and eventually beat OU and Texas. His first recruiting class looks solid and appears to contain some real difference makers. Although not as highly rated as the Callahan years, I expect them to develop into great players. I also want to mention how happy I am that he has jump-started the walk-on program and embraced TO's advice. It has already paid dividends this year after some stellar game performances by walk-ons. If Bo can continue to win the games he should win and knock off a couple of teams he isn't expected to, our return will be soon. I have full confidence in Bo Pelini, and hope that he will be our head coach for a long time. Go Big Red!
  2. I got shivers reading that.. It probably won't happen, but don't let anyone tell you that you can't dream about it..
  3. Actually the name is sidetracks and its a must do before and after the game. Peter, Paul and Mary are tough to beat. Oops.. my bad Thanks for correcting me
  4. Glad to have ya here! I, for one, am proud that opposing fans look forward to coming to Lincoln for a game day experience. I have always had a very good time at Sidewinders bar on "O" street. They do charge a cover to get in, and the drinks are pricey, but the atmosphere is impressive. They have a live band that gets the crowd involved. There has always been a good mix of Nebraska fans and opposing fans, which makes for some fun cheering back and forth. That's my one suggestion.. you can't go wrong if you are downtown, many good places.. Hope you have a great time!
  5. Nebraska 20 Virginia Tech 13 Passing - 220 yards Rushing - 105 yards
  6. So which conference is better? There are some convincing arguments for both conferences.. Let's stack them up side by side. The best team in the Big 12 plays the best team in the SEC. Big 12 #2 vs. SEC #2. And so on. (I will match by rankings in the AP poll) #4 Oklahoma vs. #2 Georgia #6 Missouri vs. #5 Florida #10 Texas vs. #7 LSU #12 Texas Tech vs. #9 Auburn #14 Kansas vs. #13 Alabama Nebraska vs. #25 South Carolina Oklahoma State vs. Tennessee Colorado vs. Kentucky Iowa State vs. Arkansas Kansas State vs. Vanderbilt Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State Baylor vs. Ole Miss Which conference would win the majority of these games? I don't see any easy victories by the Big 12, while the SEC has some gimmies. I think Florida, Alabama, and the bottom four win easily. To me, this is the easiest way to see that the Big 12 still hasn't caught up to the SEC. But it sure would be fun to watch. Does anybody think the Big 12 could actually win this matchup?
  7. They did get a defensive TD and returned a kickoff for a TD.. Their offense was still impressive, but Illinois did stop them numerous times..
  8. Yes.. a new coach.. Also a new offense without the right players.. And besides the huge upset over Florida, Michigan wasn't even that good last year.. sound similar to Nebraska when Cally took over? We went 5 - 6.
  9. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned that V-Tech was very DISAPPOINTED to play Kansas in the Orange Bowl.. Seriously, which team had more motivation?? Football is a mental sport, and V-Tech wasn't there mentally.. Kansas was.. It was an upset, kind of like how Colorado beat Oklahoma.. This season, KU will go 6-6 or worse.. mark it down
  10. I was playing my NCAA season and lost my first two conference game, against Missouri and Texas Tech of course. They were both very close games.. this got me thinking. Iowa State will be hungry. They might have 3 or 4 wins tucked under their belt. This is a dangerous game, especially if we lose our first two conference games (which unfortunately is likely). How long has it been since Nebraska started 0 - 3 in conference play? Has is ever happened? Does this scare anybody else here??
  11. *IF* we beat them. Let's not get ahead of ourselves now. As far as our track record shows, there's no team that can't beat us right now. I don't think Baylor can beat us.
  12. If we beat Virginia Tech, Missouri, and Texas Tech (which is improbable, but not impossible), NO ONE will say we haven't played anyone yet before the OU game. I also don't think it's fair to call our schedule easy. I think it's fairly tough. Other than that, I REALLY hope your right!
  13. Make your 2008 predictions! I know it's too early, but I can't control my anticipation for next year! Go through the schedule and put the percentage chance we have of winning that individual game. At the end, predict our final record and bowl game. This should give a good indication of the expectations for next year.. Western Michigan 95% San Jose State 95% New Mexico State 95% Virginia Tech 45% Missouri 30% at Texas Tech 15% at Iowa State 70% Baylor 90% at Oklahoma 10% Kansas 30% at Kansas State 80% Colorado 55% Final Record 7-5 Independence Bowl I hope we do better, but I think 7-5 is an acceptable first year to build on.
  14. I'm surprised that no one mentioned the fact that he broke a 57 yard run against our FIRST TEAM defense.. Not trying to be negative, but I was hoping our first team defense could stop our second team offense.
