I think envolving her (taking her to the game) is your best bet. Like i said with my girlfriend/now wife it took some time. I am like alot of other fans and guys on here that will not budge from infront of the tv on game day. The only way im going anywhere is if were going to the game. The gameday atmosphere and fun of being surrounded by other fans helped to sell her on going, Then going helped to make her a fan. When i mentioned the comprimising above. My big one is our church is 30 mins from home and service starts at 10. It normally last 1 1/2 hours. That means most times I would miss noon kickoff on sundays. I explained to my wife that was not going to happen. My comprimise is I CAN"T miss service in the offseason. Also if you get 'into' something that she likes, chances are she will be more forgiving when your "Red Fever" kicks in.

you cant force the "die hard' thing. But you can make her atleast a casual fan. I did this with my wife with the Chiefs and MU. For my wife it was getting her to a game with a bunch of our mutual friends. We did the tailgating, drinking and cheering. She came around slowly . But after her 3rd game and about 2 years into the 'conversion project' she started to ask for her own gear. She wanted hats, jerseys, had favorite players the whole bit. My wife had no real knowledge about the sport. We started with first downs and grew from there. over the last 7 years from girlfriend to wife she has come to be a fan and even spent 30 mins last thursday before the Chiefs preseason opener discussing the new offensive strategy for this years team. And she was more excited about Mizzou on the cover of SI than I was. I will say this though, you have to learn to compramise with her.

I will say this. I believe MU wins this game. By how much is another story. If they won by 3 or 21, it wouldn't suprise me either way. Last year both teams played ugly and made a ton of mistakes. I'm sure Illinois got better as the year went on, I know MU got better. But here are a couple of tid bits. ILL. lost a stud RB and their best defender. Juice was doing nothing against MU, infact it was his backup Mcgee who led the comeback last year. MU changed their D after the 4th game last year and went from being ranked near #100 in the nonconference sched, to having the number 1 overall D in the big 12 in confernce play. Mu was leading that game 37-13 with 6 mins left in the 3rd before they feel apart. what does this mean? I have no clue. Other than MU's D is MUCH better now than it was then and Mizzou was kicking thier butt before the D went to the crapper in the second half. P.S. Since I know almost all Husker fans are history buffs and like to hang their hats on records and streaks. MU is 9-3 against Ill since 1978. holds a 15-7 edge alltime. Have won three straight meetings & the MU's margin of victory has been less than one td only twice in history (1991-4pts, 2007-6pts). Compared to 5 times of 28pts or more.

First - I agree OU/NU should play every year. Now that we have 4 non-cons I think we should schedule them in the 2 years we don't play them in conference and bump CU's time slot and every year play them Thanksgiving week EVERY YEAR. BTW a good website for research Link Just my $0.02 I would think that of the North teams, MU would have the best chance to create the desired rivalry. Althought Nebraska has won 29 more games in the series, it is the closest win/loss ratio of the north teams. I know it is not on a "big stage" as far as rivalry games go. (MU lossing 25 straight games didn't exactly help) But there is a pretty strong history and the last 10 years alone have provided some good games. The teams have traded victories since 03. And MU seems to be on the rise. IF MU can keep up their sucsesses and if NU improves the way most of you believe, then it could really set up nicely. Really all in all the next 5 to 10 years will probably dictate how it goes. If MU runs off a handful of straight wins or at the very least the games continue to split, I believe it will continue to climb for both schools. It will probably not ever be on the same level as the ol' NU/OU games, and don't expect it to ever reach the level of MU/KU. But it could be something special. The one thing that really may put a damper on that ever happening is when the games are schedualed. 4 of the next eight seasons the MU/NU game is the first confernce game for MU. The other 4 seasons it is the 4th. It may be too early in the schedual to give it a real "big game" feel.

I can't speak for those people, who very well maybe fair weahter fans, but as a MU fan living in omaha, it has become MUCH easier to get your hands on MU gear in Omaha. Up untill this last year the only way I could get new stuff was online or when I made trips to KC. Hell now I can go to Oakview or Westroads and pick up my tiger gear. Plus in general its easier to support your team when they win. I.E. my many husker friends that no longer sport their Nebraska gear on a DAILY basis. They still have it and wear it but with MUCH less frequency Blasphemy.. Damn it. I wear Husker gear probably 3 to 5 days a week not counting the two new white caps that are clean as hell that I bought at Huskergear.com (Selfish promo) Im 20 miles from freaking Norman. I'm with you on that. Hell I grew up a KC Royals fan. If you see some fool in omaha, probably the only one sporting Royals & Chiefs gear its me. I am just curious how many people are going to jump of the free tv promo. ALL that has to happen in 10 regular season wins for Nebraska, then they have to win the Big 12 Championship. IF all that happens you get your new $3000+ tv for free. It would take a true homer to jump at that deal. I hate when people to "give-a-ways" that are near impossible. At my college there was an auto dealership that would always have a "free truck give-a-way" at football and basketball games. Can you prove those statements? I'll agree this was a boneheaded move, but the only party I see being sucessful in a lawsuit would be the newspaper for format something or other. This could set a bad precident. These things are can be brought on a libel or slander case Attacks on a person's professional character or standing; Allegations that an unmarried person is unchaste; Allegations that a person is infected with a sexually transmitted disease; Allegations that the person has committed a crime of moral turpitude; The act is considered common law. In this case what the husker fan did is lible, because it was in written form or printed medium (i.e. newpaper, magizine, online article). Slander is when its spoken word. It is different from the Cally pictures because that was a parody of a well know figure. You couldnt prove it caused any harm to his reputaion and was not done to try and cause harm. The reason it could be a law suit in this case is it was done in malace and the figures could claim that harm was done to their reps because of a false crime allegation Look at it this way, on the news they have to say that someone is suspected of a crime. They can't say that person is guilty or say they commited the crime until after the trial proves they are. If a news anchor said that joe blow was arrested for commiting 'xyz' crime, instead of joe blow was arrested on suspecion of 'xyz' that could cause a law suit.

Its not rediculous or unwarrented Its called slander and lible (AKA Defamation) and ITS AGAINST THE LAW. Doing so against a person opens you up for a lawsuit. If he is sued by the father, and possible the paper for using their templet, then he should have paid better attention to what he posts. like many have said it goes both ways for sure. I will say this about the gentleman that had a bad experiance at Mizzou. I am sorry about that. Messing with someones car is taking it to far. I will say this though, i was at last years game. In a mizzou section with friends ( i am a mizzou fan) and about 10 guys, all husker fans took their seats. They ran their mouths for a good 30 mins before the game. held up signs about how mizzou sucks. everyother word was a curse word. Then the game started. They shut up and tried to pick fights when MU fans razzed them a little. And nothing more than just a little playful banter. I guess my point is, although messing with your car was taking it too far. Be AWARE that #1- you are on a college campus. MU - 35,000 18-22 year olds. #2- I am sure you were in full gear, had your car decked out, so on and so forth. You will get razzed at all most any opponent school. for me, my worst experiances have been with husker fans. Ussually 30 years and younger. The classiest fan moniker is BS. BTW - who in the hell wants to have someone pat you on the back smilling saying "maybe next year" when the Huskers left in their first team the entire game and won by 50. Nobody does. Thats why when their team gets you, all that pent up anger comes out. Only when NU has been involved has I ever been afraid that I might not be safe. Nothing like having "Joe Husker" follow you to the pisser with 5 of his redneck friends. Every team has its fair share, and ussually the person getting razed is not fully innocent. I know when people mouthed me, I said stuff back. But the only fans I have seen blantenly go after each other for nothing is KU & MU fans.
