  1. even though we lost and it hurt like hell, last night was great for the program. it was just like when we lost to FSU in '93 (i think) by a field goal, even though we lost, it brought us back to the national stage and indicated that we can play with the best. i thought we would move up in the polls, and if we did not, i would have lost all faith in the college football system.
  2. If the refs were not sure whether or not there was time left when the ball hit something out of bounds, and the play is not allowed to be reviewed by instant replay, then the game should have ended. Through all this, it does not make me any less proud of the way the Huskers played. They earned it all and left it all on the field. You can't ask for anything more.
  3. At this point, I'm saying that it's not relevant whether there was really one second left on the clock or not when the pass went out of bounds. If the clock was allowed to run out, and this is not reviewable by rule, then the game ends. I am a "trust but verify" kind of guy, so I will see if I can verify this rule for myself. Until then, I'm saying that we got screwed because Texas didn't get screwed. How's that for logic.
  4. Of course you don't think it's debatable. If it had happened the other way around, I wouldn't think it's debatable either. It would appear, however, according to a previous post in this thread, that the rules do not allow for this type of situation to be reviewed. So, if UT had been screwed because the person running the official game clock, well, that would be too bad, you know? Instead, the clock was allowed to run out. If the previous poster is correct, that is not a reviewable call. That, my Longhorn Lovin' Friend, would make it debatable.
  5. I disagree. If we're talking about this after the bowl game then maybe ....
  6. Gabbert was in Columbia today. I wouldn't count on him being our salvation. To get **** recievers and QBs here we're going to have to show that we have the coaching that will allow them to use those talents. It looks like we are going to be a 3 yards and a cloud of dust and let the defense do it sort of program. We need a servicable qb like Ganz or Taylor and an o-line that can protect him and open up holes for Burkhead & Robinson. I think Green can be that or better. To me Green looks nothing like the gamer he was chalked up to be. I know he's a frosh, but he was handed opportunities several times this year and he has looked nothing less than scared and or tight. He has some major growing to do. His pass on 3rd down was a prime example. I can blame that pass tonight on adrenaline. I would have liked to see him play better earlier this year too, but I still think he can be pretty good in our offense. With our defense, we would have beat UT by 14 tonight with a better QB. Although the OL is not off the hook here, and the I think our play calling was too predictable even for our terrible offense.

  8. I'm doing two things I never do tonight, complain about the refs and second guess the coaches. Both pass interference calls were questionable, but the second one was really bogus. And no holding calls? Really? And the offensive play calling was too conservative even for our putrid offense. We have like 12 good tight ends (of course I exaggerate). Lee's not that accurate a passer but some short crossing patterns would have worked. We had one on that last drive to Kinnie. It seemed like it was either run up the middle or throw deep. Whether that was Wats or Bo's philosophy, I don't like it.

  10. As a Native Texan, I really dislike the UT program and all that they stand for. Maybe it's the way they and the Southwest Conference begged to join the Big 8, and then set about trying to make all the rules. Maybe it's because they're the big dog on the block, resources-wise. Whatever. GBR!!!
  11. we were running down the middle of Dodge giving people in the parked cars high fives as traffic was stopped in all directions. Most towns have areas where this sort of thing happens. I think it was 16th street in Denver when the Broncos won the Super Bowl. Lots of pepper spray that night. Commerce Street in downtown San Antonio when the Spurs won the title. Unintentional double post, but I suppose I could post it twice more for accuracy.

  13. Can you blur out your lower midsection in the Youtube video?
  14. Hy-Vee? The salad bar will be closed that time of night.
  15. Zac Lee reminded me of another Zach who was a JC transfer. I thought Lee showed a lot of toughness tonight. He got hammered and just kept getting up. Tough kid. I always thought Taylor's best quality was his toughness. I don't think Lee will ever match Taylor's ability to throw the ball, but I gained some respect for him tonight.
  16. I've got the fever, and the only prescription ...
  17. I don't know about cutting him loose, but I agree that we should go after another qb. Then if he can't stand the heat he'll head for the hills himself. Of course, if Bo were to cut him loose for visiting MU I would not have a problem with it.
  18. It may have been a hard game to watch but we were a Marlon Lucky fumble away from having a fighting chance. I'm no fan boy of Billy C and the Boys but I do feel like that game gets maligned more than it should. I don't think we have the skill on offense to execute that kind of game plan right now however. Amen.
  19. the GANZINATOR at No Frills?? Should have clarified that he was there signing autographs. What can I say, I'm a kid at heart. I love all these stories. This is the first thread I created that did not die a quick death.
  20. Wow, it wasn't long ago that many on this board were saying Cody was the second coming of Touchdown Tommie. He was supposed to be this great dual threat quarterback who could run and pass. Now I'm hearing from some of you (probably not the same people mind you) that he can barely run and he can't throw. I say this, there is a lot wrong with this offense, most of which are due to youth IMHO. Maybe lack of skill too, but I admit I'm not a good judge of potential skill on the football field. In a perfect world, we would have had more options at quarterback, but we don't. Would Lee have improved with more time? Don't know. Will Green play up to all the potential I've been hearing about? Hope so, if so it will take some time. Nobody can know the answers to these questions. The one thing that really concerns me about this offense is the apparent lack of leadership from the student body. I say apparent because, as fans (fanatical observers), we don't know what really goes on between the players. But when you hear from the members of the great vaunted Husker teams of the past you hear about the guys who straightened each other out. Players only meetings. Guys getting in each others' faces. The only time we've seen anything like that was when an O-lineman (forget who) got in Tre Robinson's face after his fumble against ISU. After the game Bo said something like, yeah we admire his passion but we had to put a stop to that. I say don't put a stop to it. Let the natural leaders lead. Let the kids who can command respect command that respect. I was a kid once, so I know that respect for your elders only goes so far. Respect for their peers will foster the unity that this offense needs to succeed. IMHO.
  21. The entire state. I can see Congress yielding the floor to the esteemed Senator from the Great State of Snyder. Okay, so sometimes I'm the only one who laughs at my jokes.
  22. 1. I needed groceries. 2. No. I would have noticed her.
  23. It was nothing really, the grand opening of a new grocery store in Omaha. Didn't even know he was going to be there until I got there. I just told him that he carried himself with class while he was at NU and still does, and he thanked me. That was it, he was very gracious. I was flying high for the rest of the day though. And I'm no young kid. It got me to wondering why. I think I would have had the same reaction even if it had been someone who had not had the same success. It's the program. I'm no insider, never even played high school ball. I've probably been to 20 Husker games over the years. But for 15 seconds I was within arm's length of the greatest college football program on Earth. I love this program!! I love this state!!!
