I specifically remember that play. Ricky tried to arm tackle the QB and he shed it, then got off a bomb that was caught. I'm so tired of this arm tackling crap. If Ricky had came in with fire and reckless abandon he would have put his helmet right in his numbers and the QB would have been pissing blood for a week. The only guy on the defense that plays with reckless abandon is Octavien. I don't see why every other team across the nation has defenses that just want to hurt someone, and we have a bunch of Pamby Wamby's that are worried about breaking a nail. I remember him missing the tackle on the blitz as well. I did think he was better on later blitzes. I like him being on the field. Its better to have the young guys with talent make mistakes than watch the guys that know better stink up the joint.

That why Peterson and Swift play. Not the fastest but good rout runners and hands. They should play before the young'ens. Yes Nunn and Hardy can drop passes pretty good. Nunn is looking better, we'll see less and less of Hardy as the year goes on. I was with your inital post all the way through the Lucky comment. After that, not so much.

I wouldn't go that far but Lucky is really just a 3rd down back. He's good cathcing passes out of the backfield but he can't really run through tackles.

It's ok to be upset about the defensive showing against Ball State. It is NOT ok to boo your team. That's something a Michigan fan would do. If that's your game, go watch Big 11 football, you'll have plenty to boo about. Its not OK for this to be the standard of defensive play for this program. It doesn't seem like the D is progressing. The fans should certainly boo. Do you have a better way for the fans to demonstrate their frustration?

I was watching ABC and they did the highlights of the game. The closing comment was something like "1100 yeards of total offense, TD's by 11 different players, and Nebraska beat Ball State even without the blackshirts"

Callahan can send a strong signal to the defense by taking all the blackshirts away. Its obvious the team didn't follow Bowman's lead. It needs to come from the top, not Coz. I know you guys are angry, and rightly so, but is there a precedent somewhere in D-1 ball for firing the DC in mid season and that team turning things around by year end? I don't know. I'm just asking the question. I wonder the same thing. I can't think of any D-1 coach getting canned mid-season.

Yeah, add that we're not happy that the Blackshirt tradition is a token gesture and holds no real meaning anymore. Most all of them should be wearing pink in practice next week. If this was the real blackshirt tradition it wouldn't just be Bowman stepping up to give his back, it would be the rest of them getting taken away.

What do you all think about the Husker faithful booing the team? Its happened twice in 2 weeks. I can't really remember hearing it through the TV like that in the past. Personally, I think that sends a message to a coaching staff that doesn't seem to get it. We expect more out of Husker football!!!

Keller is quite a bit better than Taylor. May not know the system as well but he is going to get better and better this year........and he'll need to. We're gonna have to score 100 points to win some of our upcoming games with this defense.
