  1. The Mighty South looked like the practice squads in their Bowl games.
  2. The Colorado game is a game I certainly look forward to, but no, I don't consider it a rivalry. It's a great day for a game, the day after Thanksgiving, lots of beer, leftover turkey, beer, leftover beer but I don't consider it a rivalry. A rival is someone who is supposed to be your equal, and also someone you respect - not necessarily like - but at least respect. We had this with OU, I don't see it with the Fluffs. Just because you don't like a team, or more specifically, the behavior of SOME of their fans doesn't make them a rival. We saw it before the bowl game last year on this board; Clemson obviously can't stand USuC, but I doubt they consider them their rival.
  3. sort of off topic, but that's some serious AIR!!
  4. Many, many more Coach. The things you have done for this university and this state are truly legendary. Although you would never agree, you are easily one of the greatest Nebraskans in history.
  5. I acurately predicted a 9-4 season, I predicted a Gator bowl appearance and I named our opponent. I correctly prognosticated the final scores of nine games up to and including the Gator bowl. I also nailed the totals for the season in 5 offensive categories and 3 defensive.........I just didn't post any of this, why spoil things for the rest of you. You're welcome.
  6. Well put x. On a side note, HUSKRNOKC, dig the avatar....Samardzija starts in the spring training opener tomorrow!
  7. Reading that site and the LJS site, pretty much gives me a good insight on the problem. Father and son both need to find a school and see "if" Patrick can be the star they are trying to make him into. IMO GBR!!! Sounds about right, in fact in sounds to me like his dad is the real problem here. Dear dad: Three highschools transfers- are you shttn me Pyle? Who's life is it anyway? As far as trying to force Bo's hand in the spring - assuming the report is true - again, what are you thinking? Did you actually think Bo was going to cave in to some whinny dad of a Callahan recruit? Gimme a break. Your son, or more likely you, asked to be released from a full ride scholarship from unranked Nebraska (I know, I know, but for the time being it's true), because you were worried the coaching staff might not give him a fair look for the starting QB job. NEWS FLASH...NU doesn't HAVE a starting QB yet! I'm assuming by 'fair look' you meant; name my son as the starter now and have a competition to see who his number 2 will be...doesn't work that way pal. Good riddance.. you see - it's not about what you want, it's about what's best for the program that was willing to give him a free college education wants. And Patrick, despite what dad tells you NOTHING worthwhile is given to you, or guaranteed. You have to work for everything you get in life. If you wanted to be the starter at Nebraska, fine, work harder than the other guys who want to be the starter at Nebraska, and earn it. Simple as that.
  8. Completely agree. Only one person knows why he really decided to leave and he.......well he left, so who knows. I don't think though this leaves a gaping hole in the offense (it was already there). Granted he didn't have much playing time last year but, six of eight for forty-eight yards? It's a good completion percentage I guess, but still. On the non-football side, he IS a very bright kid who probably won't make a living off pro football so maybe academics were a part of the decision, again who knows. Best of luck to him.
  9. 2 of 9 for a whole yard. Wow. I didn't realize it was that bad.
  10. Shrine bowl offensive player of the game. Good job Marlon, best of luck to ya.
  11. OK in the SEC? He faced a big 12 defense and threw 2 interceptions true enough , he also rushed for 109 yards, threw for another 231 yards and WON THE GAME.
  12. Those are awesome pics, thanks for sharing
  13. A complete joke. "We begin our countdown of the Top 25 current coaches in college football with Butch Davis at #25. We listed these coach’s accomplishments of the last 5 seasons. Butch Davis – North Carolina - Record in last 5 years: 12-12 with North Carolina" Somewhat less impressive than 9-4 in ONE year.
  14. I don't think you can acurately judge any player who played under Callahan's system for three years. If Marlon had played under a coach like Pelini his entire college carreer I think he'd a had a chance to re-write some record books at Nebraska. As it is he was far, far, from being a bust. I wish nothing but the best for Marlon as he moves on and am thankful he played here.
  15. I agree to a point. I just don't think any starter's job should be a guarantee, it has got to be earned..every spring, every practice and every game. All that being said, my vote goes to Pelini and his staff....they've been pretty good at judging talent so far.
  16. yeh, kinda what I thought too. I found it pretty tought to believe that I came up with a formation the coaches hadn't.
  17. exactly!!! so why wasn't this ever used? I don't know, often thought the same thing myself.
  18. Of the 90+ posts in this thread, about 5 actually adress the point. B-rent, newearth, and I seem to be on the same page here. These two, could not get further from that. 'Could Tebow start for Nebraska?' is the title of the thread, how does that not address the point?
  19. It doesnt matter if a player leaves after his JR year, redshirting gives a player a full year to get better without taking away a year of eligibility. I think redshirting is ALWAYS a great idea. A full year to study the playbook and go through strength and conditioning. Redshirting does nothing but make the athlete a better athlete. Redshirting has nothing to do about becoming a better athlete. If your blessed then your an athlete, and how much you are blessed determines what kind of athlete you are. If I could become a better athlete by practicing more, doing S&C, studying the playbook, then I'd be in the NFL. Athleticism isn't learned, it's a blessing. Some have it, some don't have as much. Now, I will agree redshirting helps a young kid build muscle and get a better handle on the playbook and get used to the speed of college football. Redshirting isn't about creating better athletes, it's about creating better college football players. And it works.
  20. Excellent!! Thank you! Two things surprised me in the interview. One, was that he felt Suh's presence on the field next year could equal two or three more wins. I don't disagree, but man, that's some pretty high praise for a D lineman. Benning went on to say he could be one of the best we've ever had, EVER! It also sorta surprised me he didn't mention Holt much (Matt). I mean this is the guy that stepped it up to replace Glenn by starting as a walk-on true freshman against TTech, and wound up being named D player of the week.
  21. Pitt will be unranked. Nothing for Mizzou in any of these polls? I know booger is leaving but..........really?
  22. No, definitely not. It would be like New England playing...uh..well..UNO.
