  1. I would say that CU from 94 probably did have more talent than NU, even former NU players have said so (I think ). Lets not forget, Florida and Tennesse were both, very, very good teams, who had many future NFL players.
  2. ... later that night at a prospective husker's house, coach FORMERFAN tries to close the deal with young Jimmy Runningback Jr. and his father Jimmy Runningback Sr. father: "well, coach... uh... formerfan?... it sound like Cornhuskers have quite a program. it's also sounds a good school where my boy can get a good edjumacation." jimmy: "yah! edjumacation! i play futball gud!" formerfan: "you sure do, jimmy. you sure do." father: "so, what can you tell us about coach callahan?" ***FORMERFAN begins to shake uncontrolably*** father: "uh... coach..?" formerfan: "BILLY CALLAHAN IS THE DEVIL!!!! HE IS A BLACK-HEARTED FIEND WHO SHAT UPON HUSKER TRADITION!!! HE IS EVIL INCARNATE!!!" father: "coach..? are you okay?" formerfan: "I'VE SEEN THE EVIL THAT BILLY C. DOES! THE OTHER NIGHT, I SAW IN A GRAVEYARD! HE HAD DUG-UP BOB DEVANEY'S BODY. jimmy: "daddy! i'ma scared of the bad man..!" father: "hush, boy! now see here, coach formerfan: that is the worst close i've ever seen! why would the University of Nebraska send someone one like you to recruit my boy?" formerfan: "... uh... that is... " ***knock on the door, it's COACH BLAKE*** coach blake: "mr. runningback, i spoke with your wife and she said that..." ***spots FORMERFAN*** coach blake: "you again!" formerfan: "curses! foiled again!" ***FORMERFAN throw a chair at a window to breakout the glass and promptly jumps out of the house. he runs away, bouncing back and fourth while laughing like daffy duck!*** coach blake: "man, that's like the third time this week that's happened..!" Freaking hilarious You da man
  3. Not saying whether this is true or not (Ive heard similar rumors about LOTS of schools), but if you remember correctly, even TO had some violations in recruiting, and had "self imposed sanctions." Now, were they major violations, no. But I would expect that most schools violate NCAA recruiting laws every year. Not willingly or knowingly, but there are so freaking many rules, it would be very easy to overlook a couple.
  4. What a complete a-hole, possibly even larger than Pederson himself. No, there's no question at all. Anyone who threatens to kill someone's children is less than pathetic, in my eyes. Agree with everyone here. I dislike pud, but its freaking football people . Not that this would be right either, but how would he like to be treated that way.
  5. Utterly false. They are simply two different style of linemen. The linemen of the 90's were beasts and great football players, no doubt. However, now NU looks for a different type of linemen. One who can understand zone blocking schemes and can be proficient and run and pass blocking,. Essentially, that is what I was trying to say. TOs offense needed guys who could move, guys that pulled, alot. With pass and zone blocking, foot speed and quickness is not emphasized. You can see it in the type of players being recruited. A Taylor was listed at 6'1" (more like 5'11" ) and 305, but could move and dominate, as he won the Outland. In the WCO, the stylish thing is to have OLs that are 6'8" and weigh 350, they are doing little to no pulling, not compared to previous offenses at NU, and they would never offer a scholarship to kid like Taylor now.
  6. Uhh former bud, did you watch the last couple games.... I do believe we have a staff that can coach. But, nice to see you got over the shock of Nebraska winning and have come back to insult them already. The CU game seemed well coached and well planned, the first in 22 games. As for the UM game, the running game seemed to be working well, but billy c decided he wanted to get the passing game going in the 2nd qtr, look how that worked. And the prevent D that coz-groovy ran at the end almost prevented the win. 2 good games dont make up for the 21 other bad games. A step in the right direction, maybe....still alot to prove.
  7. Not only that, he said the '95 Huskers had a "one-dimmensional attack". Can't say I agree with that. Sure we could ram it down their throats, but Tommie could throw too! IMO, Frazier was became a GREAT passer in TOs offense his SR year. His stats were very good, not great, but there were many, many times when he threw the ball away to avoid a negative play, or when there wasnt an open receiver. Besides Brook, Tommie was the best passing QB NU has had since Gill, and maybe since the 70's. The main problems with an option based offense are 1) coaches dont believe in it 2) kids think that they have to play in an NFL type offense in order to make it to the NFL. Sorry kids, very few of you actually make it to the show. Take college football for what its worth: the best 4-5 years of your life, get your education, and let the chips fall where they may.
  8. tru dat. we need guys an o-line of the '95 vintage: big, strong and disciplined. Do need OL help badly, however, billy c will never bring in the caliber of players that NU had in the 90's. Those guys were strong, maybe even a little smallish, and quick, guys that could get on the perimeter and move. The guys billy c seems interested are big, tall, fat dudes who sit on their heels and pass block, and ever now and then, fall on someone during a run block.
  9. Yeah, but can he coach Not that it seems to matter with this staff
  10. Im not sure about that, wanna ask Joe Dailey??
  11. MF that was funny I caught Sportcenter, May picked NU , and that bum Herbstreit picked USuCk .
  12. I guess we agree to disagree, you see black, I see white. Only time will tell........ Instead of making me the topic, lets discuss the team, shall we??
  13. Good luck and best wishes, Scott
  14. It comes down to who wants it the most. If MU wants to cry about "getting slighted" and they dont really have their hearts in the game, NU stands a good chance at winning the game. If MU uses it as motivation and wants to prove to the world that they were slighted, then NUs chances drop dramatically. I guess we'll see tomorrow night
  15. Not sure if Carriker is a 1st rounder, yet. He'd be best to stay one more year. As far as Downing, good luck, but Im sure a replacement wont be hard to find.
  16. While Im not going to defend Solichs recruiting, Josh Davis for one was not of "mediocre talent" if I remember correctly. I believe he was one of the top 15 rated backs in the country, possibly a 4 recruit. One out of three. He's beginning to figure out (much like Solich did) that NU is not an easy place to get recruits to come to, even IF your name is Tom Osborne. Unless he pulls a couple out of his backside this year, this class will look very "Solich-esque" so to speak. He already is. I guess it must be true because shudog77 said so Besides billy c taking another mans team to the Super Bowl, and a couple of Rose Bowls by the DC, this staff is hardly "a premier, big name staff." Most people were wondering who these guys were prior to their arrival at NU. 24 PPG, not all that exciting. Or struggle against teams with much less talent. That remains to be seen. I just want NU to win the game, most importantly play well, and build on what happened at CU, not play like the team that went to KU. To get back to the original statement "How far we've come this year" nothing in this post shows it. I guess if you want to about FSs recruiting, or whether pud will be loved or hated is showing "how far we've come this year," it just shows how little progress has been made.
  17. Love me or hate me, I wish you and all of your's happy holidays Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all things good!!!!!!! GBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Weasel, I will prefice this (Im not sober) But holy s*&t I agree with you. Since I have had a few adult beverages, to every single person on this board (including Nameless ) Merry Christmas, happy new year And GBR
  19. I agree to a point. But part of being a Nebraskan is "how" you go about doing things....not just about getting it done. However that point of view falls on deaf ears when it comes to Pedey and that is my biggest complaint against him. He divided NU Fans down the center when there was really no reason to do so. He botched the handling of many things and for that healing is going to take time. Sadly, he can never admit though when he was wrong etc......and in his own logic feels that he will bring everyone back by simply winning. That imo is where Pedey is clueless / classless......winning isn't everything, nor the only thing. That is one thing I most respected about TO.....he understood this and even in defeat and disappointing seasons he represented imo Nebraska values / pride. It made winning only that much more special imo, Weasel Great points
  20. If its not a dire need, why would they go after another?? They are only two deep at qb right now. Its a pretty important position, NU needs a quality HS qb in the class. I wonder if he said the same thing when guys like Murtha decommitted from other schools to go to NU?? Im not sure about that. Seems like there are a few qbs on the roster who are not the "very best players." I do agree, if they dont want to be here, then dont come
  21. FYI, at the Wake Game this year, there was a fumble right below where I was sitting (North EZ) and apparently I was standing a little too long. I looked back behind me, and this girl who was in her late teens/early 20's was asking me to sit down It wasnt as if I was standing the entire game Kind of pissed me off So the bluehairs arent the only ones who pull this crap.
