  1. Could be interesting seeing his brother hand off to him in games. I say he signs this weekend even if he's not actually allowed to sign for another year.
  2. EDIT: It's official. http://www.journalstar.com/blog/huskers.ph...p;tb=1&pb=1 On green. Have him sit, don't pull the shirt unless it Lee goes down for good at some point. If it is going to be a couple plays here and there, I think we will see washington (handing the ball off) Thank you Alex.
  3. Still can't seem to find anything on this yet. You'd think there would be something out there at least looking into the situation. did just find this though http://www.journalstar.com/blog/huskers.php It says that he was seen limping off the field after Mondays practice.
  4. This is bad for us. One would hope that if Cody Green can pick up the offense then he gets worked into the early games and possibly become the starter. I like Lee and I hope they don't need to use Green but we're looking a little thin at QB. I've had 2 ACL repairs so far, and they aren't something you come back from quickly. It is a 6 month minimum, and that is before Physical Therapy, so count on 8-10 months, if not more. Then comes the mental aspect, for that first few weeks you're a little timid because you don't want it to happen again, took me a good 3 weeks to notice I could make cuts on it again and not have any problems.
  5. Thats what I was thinking. Almost sounds made up.. In Tennessee their version of the tech college makes improvements to the steam engine. The rest of the world moved on to combustion engines. They also make some very good wooden false teeth there, that is how they keep tuition low, a lot of toothless folks in TN.
  6. The old man has one hell of a sense of humor, gotta give it to him.
  7. I do believe this emoticon says it all. This one might work too. Just change the BS to DS for dumb****
  8. I agree, but I try not to think of that guy or I am forced to drink.
  9. Death i've been to the last US held WC and the Germany WC and both times had some of the best experiences ever. Even if you don't like soccer it's something you have to view in person at least once in your life, especially the Brazilians. I was Palo Alto for the US vs Brazil game and talk about a classy bunch of people. They want to always give you food and drinks and always just enjoy the game, not to mention some of the ladies are just down right gorgeous. I hung out alot with the Brazilian fans during the Germany WC as well and still keep in touch with a bunch of them via email(though their English is rough and my Portuguese is even rougher). Soccer is more of an acquired taste and takes a lot of skill. It can be fast paced but normally it's thought out and strategic in a way. Nebraska was never really huge on soccer when I was a kid but moved to Nevada and it was a large following. I've played since I was 4 and continued through college, unfortunately after the Marine Corps and my 2 ACL repairs, i've been sidelined and will coach my daughter here in a few years. All in all, this is one event I recommend to anyone and everyone if you get the chance. You think fans get riled up at football games? Football games have absolutely nothing to compare with soccer games in that aspect. If you can't make a WC game but can make it to England, try to catch a premiership game, they come a close second.
  10. They have to list all places that are able to host games in order to apply. I doubt a World Cup game will ever be playing in Lincoln as the town itself couldn't handle the games. I was in Germany for the World Cup and the towns were packed, Berlin was over packed. Just imagine Lincoln with well over 2 million people, impossible in my mind. The games will be held in the larger venues anyways, places like LA and New York where they can handle a large influx of people.
  11. I agree with the list, though i'd still pick Bradford over McCoy for the #1. We'll see just how good he might be this year with that young O line. If he puts up good numbers we'll know for sure, if he stinks it up behind that line, then we'll know it was the team and not the QB.
  12. I am kind of torn in this thread, part of me showing my Husker bias, and the other part hating Texas. That said, I'd still take Frazier over Young. As it was stated Frazier didn't get credit for the yards that he pitched after a run. We never really had the receivers that Young had either, so that should be taken into account as well. Young had a decent line, we had a dominant line, not to mention RB's FB's you name it, ours were at least 5 times better than VY's. VY topped us on receivers as ours were basically just blockers who occasionally caught a pass. I am going to cut this one short and just say they are both great QB's but I would take Frazier over darn never every QB that has played since 1976(the year I was born). No matter the outcome we are all welcome to our opinions and i'll respect all of yours.
  13. The context was: Sacks are over-rated, it's for those NFL guys... I mean, even now it just boggles my mind as to just how idiotic, and utterly clueless, the previous coaching staff really was, about seemingly everything. Clues did not come cheap to those coaches, they couldn't afford to purchase one.
  14. I think it's actually more telling that the kids have bought into it. If it is believed in from top to bottom, then there is more of a possibility that it will in fact be much improved. At least that is what I got from it.
  15. There are no women on the internet. so it's a transtesticle who knows football. Not so much more my type but still a first haha.
  16. I believe we ranked 55 nationally overall, which is hellaciously better than the former year. I can't recall where we were nationally in each area, but I could have sworn it was ESPN. I am off to the surgeon but I will look for it under the drugs this next few days and see if I can locate the article. If anyone finds it before me, thank you in advance.
  17. I am glad tomorrow I will be on vicodin after having the wisdom teeth finally pulled. When I come out of a coma for the weekend It will be that much closer to September. I think this year we turn that proverbial corner back to where Osborne left us. It's been a while since I had faith in an NU coach, Bo has given us a great outlook for many years to come.
  18. Bo expects NU to take 'huge jump defensively' BY RICH KAIPUST WORLD-HERALD BUREAU • World-Herald Video: Coach's press conference • NU Football Notes: Green hurt; Washington to try QB • Tom Shatel: Pelini has list of chores to accomplish in 2009 LINCOLN - For the record, Nebraska ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 in total defense, No. 3 in rushing defense and No. 6 in scoring defense last year after being last in each category the season before. But it was hard to find even a trace of satisfaction Tuesday in Husker coach Bo Pelini's voice. "I have high expectations," Pelini said. "They're extremely high. We made a jump last year from what they were the year before, but we're nowhere near where I want us to play defensively. I expect to get there this year." Pelini laid it out clearly as Nebraska prepares to start spring practice today. His plans are for the Huskers to make a "huge jump defensively" next season. The players' expectations need to match those of the staff. And NU linebacker Blake Lawrence wasn't the least bit surprised to hear Pelini say any of it. "Since he's come in, he's really shown that we're never going to be where he expects us to be," Lawrence said. "That's not a bad thing. It's a motivating thing, because he expects us to be at a level that we can't achieve until we're at the peak of our game and everything's going right. "Coach Bo, wherever he's been the goal is No. 1. It's not No. 2. It's not Top 10, Top 5 or what not. It's to be the best." Nebraska last season allowed roughly 10 fewer points and 125 fewer yards per game than the 2007 defense that Pelini was hired to repair. The 2008 Huskers held four of their last seven opponents below 300 total yards, but also got lit up for 62 points and 508 yards at Oklahoma, 52 points and 462 yards by Missouri and nearly 9 yards per play at Texas Tech. Pelini said his team did some things "not characteristic of defenses that I want to be around." Pelini said improvement would come with better discipline, focus and execution. Competing down after down. Better coaching. "We were our own worst enemy a lot of the time," he said. "If we fix us - which I think we have a pretty good idea how to get done - and make sure our guys are smarter, more knowledgeable football players and play more consistently, I think we have a chance to be a lot better." Overall, Nebraska nationally ranked No. 55 in total defense (349.8 yards per game) and No. 80 in scoring defense (28.5). The Huskers also forced just 17 turnovers in 13 games. Lawrence said those numbers show that last season was "just a step." "There are certain spots that might be open because someone that has played there before hasn't quite got what the coaches are totally expecting of him," Lawrence said. "So when we start doing things the way they're really meant to be and playing the way Coach Bo wants us, that's when we're going to be able to take this to the next level. The effort level is there, but now it's time to eliminate mental mistakes and play the game right." As Pelini likes to say, it's pretty black and white with him. Very little gray. "Everybody knows what's expected of them," NU nose tackle Ndamukong Suh said.
  19. Maybe it's just me, but Jen a female, knowledgeable of NU football, and did I mention a female? If I weren't already married I think i'd have just found my next ex wife Sorry Jen, just had to mention that. Back to my normal banter in the woodshed:)
  20. Don't know if everyone knew, as I knew of at least 2 of them. IF this is something everyone else already knew then I apologize. Nebraska coach Bo Pelini confirmed Tuesday that four players have left the team's roster since the end of last season. The most notable departure is defensive back John Levorson, a heralded recruit who redshirted last season. Other players who have left the program include defensive back Justin Rogers, safety Major Culbert and linebacker Austin Stafford. And Pelini confirmed that senior defensive end Nick Covey is on a medical redshirt. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/big12/0-8-112/F...g-practice.html
  21. This is Spring ball and Taylor is still waiting to graduate High School. Bah ya beat me to it Bigred_in_O
