  1. Iowa Western's starting QB will be going back to FBS next year. He was recruited by Frost at Oregon but went to Texas before transferring to Iowa Western. He currently said he is headed to Marshall next year.
  2. Florida literally has 100 times more college football recruits than Nebraska. I've seen a figure in the range of 12% of all college football recruits come from Florida and 0.1 come from Nebraska. So even with 13 FBS and FCS teams in Florida the math is easily in their favor.
  3. Agreed. We are the poster child of firing winning coaches and hiring marginal coaches. Georgia looks to have gotten it right. They fired a coach with a similar record as Pelini and Solich and looked to have upgraded.
  4. Moos has specifically addressed this during the week and said he does not set such parameters.
  5. 2016-17 numbers won't be available until spring of 2018
  6. No. I'm skeptical. Moos wouldn't tell anyone except Ronnie Green and Hank Bounds.
  7. Just keep in mind with the full share of BIG money coming and the new Adidas deal the Athletic Department will have 25+ million more in their budget this year compared to last. And last year they had a large budget surplus. Money will not be an issue when going after the right guy.
  8. All the budget surplus goes to the University Foundation and is managed there. If a large lump sum of money is required it come from the University Foundation.
  9. Here is the latest http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/
  10. With the full share of the Big Ten revenue expect the NU athletic budget size to move inside the top 15 and likely closer to 10 than 15. Interestingly enough looking at the latest numbers the NU athletic department had a budget surplus of around 9 million last year. About the right size for a buyout for a particular ISU coach.
  11. I heard that alluded to but I've never heard him say this. However, I think Benning just doesn't like Frost given Benning's friendship with LP and how Frost was associated with the Kate Mcewen assault.
  12. This was mentioned this morning by Damon Benning and was basically confirmed as real. Damon said he contacted Aaron and Aaron responded in defense of what was said.
  13. If they can't make it then someone else will. It's in a great location I think.
  14. Agreed. Don't fire the AD without a shortlist of immediate replacements however.
  15. Yes, I agree Barry's on the rooftop is a must. Barry's is a long time establishment that has a lot of history. It's been there forever.
  16. Then you put Riley in the Pat Fitzgerald group that is able to grind out a season and win game people didn't think you could. He would obviously still have a job for 2018.
  17. Joe Moglia is currently taking a medical sabbatical--doesn't sound like it's life threatening however he's at that age where recovery take longer. I do like the idea of him running anything however he might just want to be a coach given he's already been and left high level executive management.
  18. Insert Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Florida State, Miami or some other similar program into the sentence instead of Nebraska. If they hire a new coach and said coach goes 4-8 (if we are lucky) in year three after inheriting a program that averaged only 4 losses a year for seven straight years what happens? Of course the answer is give him a fourth year so he can go 3-9 right?
  19. Embassy Suites is an organized event that is free to the public. However you are going to have to park someplace else. Both NE or SW parts of the stadium are ok viewing and I believe those are where the visitor sections are located. The largest instant replay board is above the North stands and the visiting team runs out of the SW corner of the endzone so you may prefer SW to the NE. Also if Wisconsin brings a pep band they would typically be in the SE section of the stadium near their fans. I have seasons ticket in the NE and I think it's just fine particularly with a new wrap around instant replay boards directly in front of me.
  20. I hope you are correct. That team didn't quit until after the USC game in 2007. The 2007 Ball State game (although a win) felt a lot like the NIU loss last week.
  21. I am seeing so many parallels between 2007 and 2017. It may all culminate for the Wisconsin game this year as it did at Oklahoma State game in 2007. The 1997 reunion occurred at the OSU game and will again at the Wisconsin game. I wonder if the AD will be fired the next week after Wisconsin blows NU off the field as well.
  22. Longwell's is going to be the best place if you wish to watch any sports because of their giant screen. Misty's is a staple for a good steak and they have a downtown location too. Lots of tailgating all around the stadium wherever anyone can put one. The Embassy Suites has a really nice set-up. The bars on O street are "the strip" in lincoln. If you want pizza that isn't your usual chain type of place head to Yia Yia's. Avoid any seats in the east or west stadium that are too far under the deck--the support pillars will impede your view and if people stand up causing you to have to stand the deck will block part of the field. Also the last few rows in the east and west stands are too low and the teams and other people on the field block your view. These rows were added when the track was removed 50+ years ago. Here's a link to a map that show the obstructed view seats in yellow. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&ATCLID=211027703
  23. Very similar to last year at 26. 2015 was 24 so we are seeing the trend down in Pelini's last years of recruiting. However, Riley's first three recruiting classes minor this level of talent. He needs to win to substantially bump the talent level to top 15--which is the level it needs to be for long term success and by win let's start with the West Division and finish with less than 4 losses. This level of success would allow for a strong finish for this year's recruiting class.
  24. We have an antenna in the attic to begin with and receive great reception for the over the air games on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX. In fact I prefer the over the air picture to anything I can see on cable regardless of how it is broadcast (satellite, streaming, or cable) it's simply a better picture hands down. Now for the rest we have high speed internet without cable service. This saves us about $30 per month. I still am able to stream just about anything I want to see including BTN2Go, FOXsportsGO, and WatchESPN via a ROKU box. I'm quite happy with the arrangement. You must be using someone else's login for the streaming sports, I assume? No, we have internet through our local cable provider and that's it.
