  1. It was bugging me that I couldn't link to what I was referencing, but I finally found it. I forgot they even had the conference record hosed up. Someone at a betting site wrote that and copied it to bleacherreport.com. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/204522-...all-predictions
  2. Smart girl. Are you sure she's yours? Congrats to the Jayhawks.
  3. Despite people implying or outright saying I was overly concerned with the not teaching technique issue, I still needed some assurances. I finally found a little comfort in the matter. The following is a quote directly from Barney, mentioned as an afterthought in an unrelated article from Sipple/LJS. If I had seen him say anything like that before, I would have never gotten worked up. Maybe Cotton read my quotes here and was speaking directly to me. I officially retract my stance, I just needed to hear him say something like that. Carry on.
  4. Coach Pelini's record IS 10-4 overall. Yes, but that obviously contradicts the 8-5 from last year. Pelini can't have had 5 losses last year and have only 4 losses overall. This is exactly what I was getting at. It's really not possible for a man to have coached every game during the season, lost 5, and have only 4 losses overall on his record. I guess I needed to be more specific.
  5. Really, how hard is it to look these sorts of things up before you write anything? If you can't even take 10 seconds to look up team records for last year or two years ago, you have no business saying anything about that team. Good, bad, or otherwise. Period. I actually saw a couple of places, seemingly otherwise reputable sites, that had Nebraska's 2008 record at 8-5, and Pelini's coaching record 10-4 overall. One had obviously copied from the other, and neither one verified anything.
  6. Nope. If I went through the Huskers.com schedule correctly, 2013 is the next time we have a week off before the Colorado game. I kind of like it that way, too, since it seems we start very slow in the game after time off. Though it kind of stinks that they get one less day to prepare for a road game, while I believe Colorado has a game on the Friday before (7 days to prepare for the home team versus 6 days to prepare for the road team). I'll have to double-check that one. I know CU has quite a few non-saturday games this year. Hell, what am I worried about anyway - we'll be so great and dominant by then, we could just take the whole week off and still manhandle those puffs. ----- check that -- they have a game on the Thursday before, @OSU, so they get 8 days to prepare for Nebraska, but only 5 days for a road game @OSU. Looks like ESPN is throwing some cash and prizes the Big 12's way with the thursday games.
  7. I thought someone did a pretty good job on this helmet schedule for the Big 12. Click on the picture in the link to make it full sized.
  8. Ouch, Fro, just OUCH! I think this is the winning answer for worst play call.
  9. That's kind of how I spent most of the 2nd half of the TT game that wound up 70-10, or whatever the score was. I wasn't even drinking to dull the pain and embarrassment of it, I simply drank too much because we had company over who were heavy drinkers and I couldn't keep up. I didn't even see the score until my pulse returned. Had to do a triple-take and make sure my eyes were really focusing right. So, to tie that in with this topic, I will do a pickem for any play called in that game. A close second pickem would be for the 2003 Missouri game, but moreso for the execution. Sloppy. Jamal Lord running out of bounds for a sack still haunts me to this day. That alone did not lose the game, but just all around bad execution that day. Lastly, I will say any play from the playbook where there's a 95% chance it's a pass play on 3rd and 1.
  10. I'm one person who did bring up the quote from Slauson. He said it once at media days, before the season started, and also in on of the Big Red Wrap-up programs after the season. I expressed my concern (elsewhere) after media days, and was told I had no real reason to be concerned. How the first part of the season went was a little validation for the point I was trying to make. The exact wording of my brief comment is below the post and did not include anything about him being a bad o-line coach. I want him to succeed, and I want it badly. If his methods work better than the previous ones, then great, I'll be happy as a pig in sh!t, I really will. I'm nowhere near wanting to run him out of town. However, yes, I am still concerned. Not necessarily for this year, though I will be till I see results to the contrary. The guys in there last year/this year had been focused on technique through most of their college careers at Nebraska. The "technique" part of it should have been almost muscle memory by then. What I am most concerned about is any new guys coming in, who haven't had the correct techniques ingrained into their heads yet. My honest question to those reading my babble: How long do you give an assistant (any assistant) if the performances fall short of expectations on a regular basis? Next question: If there are continual shortcoming on any of our units, does Bo have the fortitude to let any of the staff go? Or, is it going to be a "friends coaching network" all over again? I'm hopeful I will eventually share most of your viewpoints on the matter, because nothing would give me more satisfaction than to come back here one day and say, "I was completely wrong!".
  11. Its okay. I can take a joke. Just be glad I dont have the same bad attitude as this freakin wacko... "What?!...you trying to get wise Got Carl??" "You freakin kidding me Carl??! You got a problem with me!!" "You had better listen up Got Carl!! I am this close..." "Come back here Got Carl!!! HEY!!! I AM TALKING TO YOU!!" Well, since the topic was already derailed in a couple of places, I won't feel so bad when I further derail it with my response of: 1) hysterical laughter and 2) my delight that Bo would even talk to me, more than once, and know my name! OMG OMG he talked to ME! He looked directly at ME! I'm somebody now! I shall never wash this spittle off my face. That is, until I get the DNA extracted out it so I can make a clone of him for my very own.
  12. Fro -- For the most part I agree with what you wrote, but will add that MU faces the same challenges this year. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were talking about the Tigers.
  13. Southern Miss @ Kansas is a very intriguing game to me and I do see "upset alert" as a real possibility. I think KU fans are marking this down as an automatic W, but I see it as a possible offensive dogfight. KU still wins it, but to steel from Corso, "Not so fast, my friend", and "Closer than the experts think" definitely come to mind on that game. I'm glad it's televised because it could turn out to be one of the better ones.
  14. or one QB to pick his nose on tv and eat it. Could not resist it, sorry, I'm in that kind of mood today.
  15. No, fans should celebrate the proper way. Outside the stadium, lighting couches on fire and tipping over cars.
  16. Sure sounded good at the time, though, didn't it?
  17. Got off cheap. EDITED: idiot me included stuff that was already posted.
  18. EDIT: 17 people replied right before I did. Ok, it wasn't 17, but close enough.
  19. Wow, didn't mean to create a stir all over again, I was just hoping Jen hadn't forgot about her little experiment she referenced up above. Bottom line - it's always nice to see your rooting interest getting some mentions in a national magazine, but if they don't, oh well. Same thing with rankings. Remedy? Just play great football and people will take notice. I'd rather see the accolades come during/after the season than before anyone has played a down of football.
  20. I'm not sure why you'd want to just forget one of the greatest games ever played. Yeah we lost, but that loss holds more honor than many of our wins. I'd rather hang my hat on that loss than just about any of our non-conference wins from the 1980s against Middle Directional State University. Some losses are nothing to be ashamed of, and this is one of them. We played our butts off and lost to a better team. No harm in that. The 93 (was it 93?) game against FSU. I was never so proud of those guys after a loss. Although I couldn't agree more with your post, it still really bugs me that Miami got the title simply by default. At least that is how I see it. Of course, these days, we have OT and the XP topic would have been a mute point. If OT existed back then, just think of all the years of talking about this we would have been deprived of!
  21. So go put it in the KU forum, not here. And BTW, he's the 43rd rated TE on Scout's board. Why is this a "great" pickup? glad you guys like to talk football around here. He was offered by some pretty good schools and he projects well for our system, wont see him on the field for a year or two so who knows how his SR season will play out. Once again, sorry for trying to talk some football on the football board. Well, it was sort of random and completely off topic, unless he has qualification issues, too.
  22. After finding a link to his Myspace page, I find it VERY easy to believe that he could be academically ineligible. http://www.myspace.com/yellaniggafromthasouth I would have been better off had I not seen that. It appears he must have been the one who brought the average KU football GPA down to 2.5.
  23. It's a conspiracy! I watched a few of the college football live shows and then lost interest in keeping up with it when real life came calling. One thing I noticed from the 7-10 I did see, and this is definitely along the lines of a conspiracy theory, many of the great moments featured Nebraska clips. Or maybe it's a compliment. Yeah, that's it, a compliment. In order to be deemed great, they had to beat Nebraska.
  24. LOL aint that the truth. I mean I could be wrong here but I don't think I am. I mean it just seems to me that the people who put out Lindy's are just plain lazy and do absolutely no research on anything. I have an idea, rather a little experiment I'm going to conduct...stay tuned. Well, how's the experiment coming along, Jen?
