  1. Don't know if this is true or not, but I'd believe it. These coaches know where they want to go and how they want to get there (look at dismissing Castille). Hypothetical: Maybe after the "Honeymoon" they decided they have room for only a couple DB's and he wasn't one of them. "Sure, we'll honor your scholly if you really want to come here but honestly, we're going to stop kissing "you're" ass and talk to the more solid guy that will qualify. Again.....HYPOTHETICAL.....which recruiting is until the recruits sign an LOI. Did we lose that which wasn't our's?....Philosophy 101 And I promise, I'm not "HuskerJen" Although, she might agree. Love ya Jen

  3. Sorry Billdozer, I accidentally edited your post with my RED and WHITE comment. I don't post very often and didn't realize that was possible.
  4. As far as I know, Budweiser cans have always been RED and WHITE!!!! Take the fun out that, Tom. I dare ya! L.A.M.E. I need to get ahold of some of those cans. Indeed. T.O. needs to lighten up. How and when does one get to tight?
  5. I don't see OU in his top 5?! How is this for trying again? Try reading my post again!!! I was saying that if a recruit is looking for academics and NU is recruiting against the other people in his top 5, they won't get the recruit unless he is a local kid. I gauran-god-damn-tee you that Oklahoma is not in a top 5 like that. I was saying that NU should be proud to have a student look at them in that light. Now, when you have a recruit that could give a sh#t about grades and just wants to win football games, and NU makes it in to the top 5 including OK, Tex, Florida, USC. NU should be proud of that too!!!! Wise up!!!!!
  6. He plays QB/CB in High School. NU is not recruiting him as a QB or CB. They want him as a S/WR. People were so upset whin Leverson left; this is "Leverson's" replacement. I do believe Leverson was a scholarship, and I do believe this kid has the same ability. By no means will he be the next Eric Crouch (Who will? It's a different era) This kid is a solid athete, and the coaches want to find a spot to put him in!

  8. The last time we were aligned with those teams. Our coach get "FIRED" 24 (roughly) months later. The type of recruits, I assume, you're looking for look at championship capability. NE need to compete befor we get those. If NE wins the north, and upsets/or plays close Oklahoma or Texas, we will be where Missery was and start getting those recruits back. Bo has talent there, he took a sad team in his first year and turned it into a 9-4 bowl winning team (redshirted basically his entire first class). The "proof needs to be in the pudding" for the next class. What I'm saying is; If the Huskers win, the recruits will follow. How do you talk to a H.S. Kid and tell him to come to NE when he can go to OK or TX (closer to home) to win. This class "WILL" change when the Huskers start putting up big wins. If the Huskers beat VT, look at recruits to start looking again, especially if the Husker give OK a scare (or better yet a loss!!!!!)
  9. sad.......Purdue is out recruiting us now. Go figure! A young high school kid that wants to get an education for free! Imagine for one second, that your son/daughter wanted to go to school for academics only. And find a great career afterwards. They would want the best school out there. Purdue, Stanford, Vandy, and NW are all among the NCAA's hardest to get into (probably why they aren't that great at sports). This kid has a chance to go for "FREE!!!". I'm not downplaying UNL's academics, they are a great school. But, if this kid is looking to be a Doctor or Attorney or Journalist or CEO or any number of other things, these schools carry more weight (you can NOT deny that) Maybe our recruiting problems are based in the academic dept. Again, I'm not saying UNL is a school that doesn't care about grades (look at academic All-Americans) but academically it carries nowhere near the weight that these schools do. Sorry to bring it up, but Pat Witt did himself only good to go play for Yale. God Bless a kid that knows that football is NOT what makes a college resume. One more thing: Nebraska fans should be extremely "Proud" that we were among that top 5!!!!

  11. What if the story isn't coming out in order to protect the young lady if aforementioned stat rape did actually occur? I don't think alot of people understand the ramifications this could have on the young lady as far as how she is looked upon by peers and others, especially if she had broke the law in order to seem older. Who says anyone is protecting Cody or the University?? If the stat rape did happen, I'm going to say the ONLY reason it didn't come out was because of her and her parents!!!! I have a feeling TO, Bo, and the University probably didn't necessarily care one way or the other. If it came out it did, in not then it didn't. I would put alot of money on that they are respecting the wishes of the girl and parents!!!!! All aspects need to be looked at and considered. Who is the one really being protected here??? I really think this is something the girl and her parents wanted. JMHO bingo Thank you. I'm not saying this happened, but everyone has been saying that the girls dad is a terrible parent, but I think he is just protecting the girls reputation. This story will never see the light of day, unless the girl and her parents decide to prosecute. The girl has some responsibility in this if it was consensual sex, and I'm sure her parents realize that. The parents don't decide if it is prosecuted. In most cases, parents know what happened, and the situation happens to be kept private without the State knowing about it. Therefore, charges are never brought because the only people that know about it are the underaged and his/her family, and the guilty party. However, If Pelini kicked Glenn off the team for this kind of activity it would prove that someone outside of the situation knew about it (a state employee at that). That would mean that Pelini and the Athletic Dept. are obstructing justice. Parents do NOT have a say if charges are brought. My sister in law had sex with an adult before she was 16, it was consensual. That same guy had sex with another minor in the same circle of friends. Charges were filed in that case. To help build a case against the adult male, my sister-in-law's name was brought up by the other girl to show that the man had a history of this. Even though my mother-in-law faught tooth and nail to keep her daughter off of the stand and to protect her name and help her turn her life around, the State subpoenaeed her and made her give a depostion so the State could add other charges beside the other girl. If it is State knowledge, it is not up to the parents.
  12. Thank you TOB. ASS U ME Just for the people that might not get what you're talking about. I've been a long time reader of the board but not a contributor. I actually signed up because of this topic. In my original post (months ago) I stated that statutory rape can NOT be decided by the people involved. If the University were to know of such situation they would be "required" to notify the state. I have a hard time believing Bo Pelini, Tom Osborne, and any other state employees would risk criminal charges of abstruction of justice. A "cover up" is not an NCAA violation, it is not a tarnish on the program, it is an absolute CRIMINAL offence. I have no idea what happened, some may, but tell me please: Why would anyone in the athletic dept (especially someone involved in our own state government) commit a crime to protect a player that is no longer on the UNL roster. Even if Cody Glenn was a 5-star record breaking QB, I'd have a hard time believing that TO would knowingly do this (not as an "Upstanding Christian Man", but as a very public official) If someone knows for certain that these allegations of statutory rape are correct, please notify law enforcement (not the media). These are charges that are brought by the STATE not the victim. If you don't have enough proof to convince Bruening then you don't have enough proof to convince this board. Give it up already! of this board
  13. If I'm reading these "endless" posts correctly, we have two theories: A: Glenn sold tickets and got caught. (Turns out not to be true, according to Glenn and the University) B: Glenn committed statutory rape. (Not proven, or unproven) Since "A" has been disproven, a lot of people assume "B" to be true. This is a very logical way of thinking if the alphabet consisted of two letters. However, might I remind everyone of letters "C" through "Z". C. Cody got caught by teamates with illegal drugs, but did not fail a drug test. No NCAA violation, however against team rules. Bo kept it quiet not to put a bad light on the program, but gave Cody his punishment. Cody didn't want to tell the NFL so we could keep from losing any small chance he had. D. Cody was involved in a physical confrontation with the coaching staff. Bo Pelini doesn't want the public to know his players are insubordinate, Cody doesn't want to look like a disrespectful punk to future coaches. Off the team, problem solved. E. Cody got caught with an "adult" female in the team training room. Bo would be more than happy to tell the world, but Cody didn't want his girlfriend to know. F. Cody was trying to get money from a booster, Bo found out before it happened, kicked him off the team before any infractions and a shadow fell on the program. G, H I JKLMN......(etc.) I claim none of these to be true, and I'm not trying to start more rumors I'm just trying to point out that there are countless possibilities of what happened. The public will probably never know. But I do think it is sad that just because situation "A" has been proved to be untrue, people assume the "VERY" ugly option of "B" is. Especially when it is based on nothing but assumptions. However, someone on here may not be assuming. They could very well know with complete certainty. I suggest unless you care to share how one would know with complete certainty, respect the wishes of the people involved (if it is the victim/family) and keep your trap shut! Thank you, that was fun
  14. New Traditon (not to take away from football) With the defensive philosophy of Sadler: Throw the Bones at games!!!!
  15. Huskers might get more respect than a lot of people might think it deserves. ABC/ESPN televised the VT, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colarado games. Not counting the Big 12 Championshiop, does anyone know how many games Oklahama, Texas, TT were on ABC/ESPN?
  16. If your referring to John Clayton, he is one of the best in the business. For someone who obviously never played high level sports, he decided to educate himself on the NFL and how things work at that level. He has always come across and unbiased and professional, at least to me. As the college guys go, Mark May is bad at his job period (not only because he doesn't seem to like UNL). Does anyone esle get sick of his "May Day" Players list with his overacting voiceovers? He tries to get the audience excited over an extra point with his "high energy" voice!!! Really, the rest of the crew isn't that bad. Why would you "talk up" Nebraska after they wasted your time on national TV against Missouri and Oklahama, and don't forget Virgina Tech. When DONU deserves it like USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, TT, etc.; THEY WILL GET IT!!!!!!
  17. I agree with you. I remember days where you know exactly what is going on in class, maybe a review for an open book test or something stupid like that. You know you don't need to go. However, If Pelini has a rule that you don't miss class without a valid reason, then that is reason enough to go. I went to UNK on Honors Scholarship. My grades mattered If I had a class, no matter how mind numbingly boring and simple it was, if attendance was involved in grading I was there. He knew the rules and simply blew it! I'll still admit, Friday morning classes were rough!!! If you think going to class is tough....try a full time job!!! The real world is going to hurt!!! I know I am an old fart...... My college days were 5 years ago. I do have a full time job, actually own my own business. I work 11 hours a day, sometimes 6 days a week. The real world does hurt, but also feels good if you put in the work. The point of my post was to say that no matter how pointless or boring something seems, if it is required for your position in life, do it! No matter how rough it may feel.

  19. I'm new to HuskerBoard, and find it delightfully entertaining, especially in this down time! I'm 27 tyears old. I am Nebraska born and raised and very proud of that fact. However, growing up I didn't follow the Huskers religiously like most, simply because they won ALL the time and I found it boring. I was one of those "rebellious" youths that thought it was cool to root for the underdog. (I know, my mistake). However, when the Huskers started to slide to the point where I didn't see every game as a "gimme." I found interest. Even though it took 17 years, and facing future Huskers in HS games, I matured and started to take pride in the Huskers. Hoping and rooting for a win. My blind pride for Nebraska has made me make comments in my circle of friends that maybe Callahan got a raw deal similar to Solich. He improved substantially from year 1 to 2 and won a division in year 3. Though be it that he dropped like a rock in his final year. This lead me to do some research in the Husker History that I missed out on through my youth. Callahan's best year was only as good as the worst years in the last 35. Simply unbelievable! I know, I shouldn't be beating the BC years to death, and I will not outside of the last 4 paragraphs. The point of this post is to apologize (even though I didn't make these remarks on this board) as a new member. Simply in the fact that I am 20 years too late to the party. And to let everyone know that I am not a bandwagon Husker fan, the only reason I'm here now is because I fell in love with an underdog, and learned to love to watch them win! I'm also a Dallas Cowboy fan because I rooted for them as an underdog against the Buffalo Bills. That should get some conversation going! GLAD to be here.
  20. Yes, Nebraska is. Outside of my family situation, I remember a couple of years ago there was an adult that got an underaged girl pregnant (they'd been dating a long time, with parents' consent) The parents even let the couple go to Kansas to get married! Bruening (Attorney General) made it his priority to file charges against the father of the baby. If the state knows about it, which apparently the Athletic Dept would, charges would be filed; leaving the minors information out of public knowledge, but releasing the information of the accused.
  21. I am a new member and felt the need to reply to this. Statutory rape is not something that parents can "decide" not to press charges to keep their childs name out of the news. Charges would be pressed against Glenn, the underaged persons name would be kept out of the media because of privacy laws. My immediate family has faced this situationi. No matter how much my mother wanted the problem to just go away so my sister would not have to relive it, the State of Nebraska would not let that happen. I have no clue as to what happened, but I do know that the parents of an underage girl have absolutely no authority to not persue charges.
