  1. While you make a good point, this isn't necessarily true all the time as you make it seem. I have read a lot of articles and even seen a few stories on ESPN of quarterbacks changing their throwing motions and it working out for the better. Hell, ESPN did like a 15 minute show of Tim Tebow in 2007 and all the stuff he does to make sure his throw is perfect, accurate, and has the right touch on it. So, while it may not work for everyone, some people can pull off the change effectively.
  2. Amen!!! I was watching the 2008 USC/Penn St. Rose Bowl last night and Herbstreit, for once, actually said something I could completely agree with and it would totally fit the description of Nebraska's defense this year. What he said was, "you can have a defense of fast players and they'll be good, but if you have a defense of fast players who really know and understand the defensive schemes, then you're looking at a really, really great defense." I'm positive that will be the Blackshirts this year. We will have plenty of speed on the field and also plenty of experience. Yes, some of the redshirts (who will likely start) might not have the game experience but they'll have the benefit of working within the system last year and it will reflect in their performance. They will be flying to the ball and man, I can't wait!! This article really was a great read.
  3. So.....Texas Tech and...that's it? We played VaTech closely..they're a pretty good football team.
  4. Wow, you make this guy sound like an average joe. Let me see, he was Gatoraid player of the year in football, and played four years at one of the all time best basketball schools at Duke, sounds like a serious stud to me. I don't really care if he comes here or not, but average joe's don't get offered scholarships by the best schools in the country in two different sports. Two things. First - He played New York State football, which is atrocious. He had good numbers but still, New York football is one of if not the weakest football state in the whole country. Second - This guy was a starter and then got benched last year and didn't start very much. He is also a fairly popular internet joke because of all the time he has "eaten a guy's shorts", or in other words dunked on.
  5. You are correct. This is why, on most important issues, I don't form my opinion based on Daily Nebraskan articles. Perhaps they thought a field goal was worth more points from a long ways out... sorta like basketball. The Daily Nebraskan, and I don't mean to offend anyone associated with it, is the worst newspaper in the Omaha/Lincoln area. I know it's a student paper, but the kids writing articles want to be journalists someday, and errors like the 4 points just can't happen.
  6. I work at Texas Roadhouse and I've seen Cody in a couple of time (along with Cory Ross, Jaba Chamberlain, and other current and former huskers) and many of us at the roadhouse are big fans....I thought about asking him hundreds of times....but i didn't because i would probably lose my job and my teeth lol. I LOVE THAT PLACE................YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! BLOOMIN' FREAKIN ONION
  7. Keep dreaming. We'll probably never know.
  8. One of the guys in the back kind of looks like Trev Alberts, but I don't think it is.
  9. How does next year's Utah team look, by the way? I was obviously impressed with them in the bowl game, but can't seem to recall who they're losing to graduation. Well one thing that hurts them is the departure of their OC. I just read an article that said he transferred over to Cal? It's in the Other Stuff section under Big 12 if you want to take a look at it. I'm sure that will hurt them quite a bit.
  10. Not like it matters, MU throws the football too god damn much anyways. I kid, I kid.
  11. It's cause the media has always been about the next big thing, who is "flashiest", and who kicks the most @$$ while looking so flashy. Nebraska did everything non-flashy and did it with a classy style. The media loves those offenses that pass a lot and rip people through the air, but we did it slow and methodically on the ground. Not to mention a lot of people disliked us since we kept kicking the butt of every team we played, no matter how good they were. Plus, they all looked like idiots after the 1996 Fiesta Bowl
  12. Short of the VaTech game, I'm really looking forward to the Mizzou game. As far as Mizzou fans/online banter goes I have not had good experiences, with a major exception being Fro Daddy because he is awesome. I'm sure the other smart ones are out there somewhere, I just am having trouble finding them. Anyways, I want the Bell back here in Lincoln and want a nice competitive game. All homerism aside, I think Nebraska has more experience/depth at key positions this year. MU vs. NU are pretty even at the quarterback, MU probably has an advantage a WR since all they do is throw the ball, but I think Nebraska is a little more experienced at most other key positions. If MU wins, I'll be truly shocked, but not totally. Columbia is a tough place to play, especially for us. I have faith though. Callahan and Co. were something like 0-22 in games that they were down at the half in. Pelini is 2-2.
  13. Getting it validated means you have to pay the difference between student ticket value and actual ticket value, so in addition to paying the student, you'll be paying the rest of the normal ticket price to the athletic department. Don't they now have to be validated by the student themselves? I think I heard about that switch because of a student having to go validate a buddy's ticket he bought from them, which can make things a pain sometimes. Well things may have changed for the 2009 season, but it wasn't like that in 2008. If you were a student, and bought a ticket from another student, you didn't have to have it validated. All you had to do was present your NCard with the ticket at the gate, and you could walk in once it was scanned. The only time you had to validate it was if you were not a student and wanted to use one of their tickets. Again, it might have changed for the 2009 season, but I didn't buy season tickets for 2008 and bought them from other students and never had to validate them for my own personal use.
  14. This was a waste of time for this guy. Not saying that we eventually won't have a playoff system, but it won't be any time within in the next few years. He should have saved this for later.
  15. Nebraska is very down to earth. The only areas where you won't see that will be Omaha and Lincoln, because they are the major cities. When people move here, they are attracted towards the city so it is very diverse there. However, people don't move to rural Nebraska that often to some of the smaller towns, which is really where you get a feel for "true" Nebraska and just how down to earth everyone is.
  16. That is exactly what I'm afraid of. The defense was ridiculously simple, and the players didn't seem to have it down. The D and especially the secondary is still 5-10 yards behind the play all the time. I'm certainly not as high on the D as some folks are all ready. I just don't see that dramatic difference in talent, at least not where it counts, up top. It's not fair to judge the offense and defense because it was split up evenly. We didn't have the best players on the field for every snap and had quite a few young guys at key positions getting reps. Spring games are terrible indicators of how a season will go, so we really shouldn't rate them that well. Especially ours, considering the teams were split up evenly and many key players didn't play for more than 1 quarter.
