  1. Just wanted to let you Husker fans knows that CJ Spiller will return to Clemson for his Senior season. I for one am very suprised that he is coming back but no doubt very excited. He said that his mother wanted him to go pro and he was given a 1st round projection by the NFL draft committee. So, here is to one more season watching CJ Spiller run away from people....
  2. Actually no he isn't. He is a hurdler not a 100m guy. CJ Spiller & Jacoby Ford are faster than him. Ford actually finished 3rd or 4th in the 100m NCAA final.
  3. The size of your WR's won't be as big of an advantage as you think. Our DB's go up against guys like Aaron Kelly (6'6" 190), Brandon Clear (6'5" 210), Xavier Dye (6'5" 205), and Brandon Ford (6'5" 205) every day in practice. I would bet that our DB's are the most talented group you will see all season. And don't let Chris Chancellor fool you. He may be 5'10 170, but he will play with anyone. 3 seasons ago, he was assigned to Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson for most of the game and limited him to 0 catches....yes that is right, ZERO. I am not at all concerned w/ Nebraska's recievers. Where we sometimes have problems is play action to the tight end or RB's out of the backfield. Don't know much about your TE's but your RB's are very good.
  4. There is an "N" painted on the side of the rock. Its not directly on the rock because of a protective casing over it. Looks to be some corn husks and a flag on top as well. The last team that did something like this to the rock got spanked on the field.
  5. Tommy Bowden is a pansy. A good Christian man (Clemson inside joke), but a pansy.
  6. Wowwww!!! I'm sure Dabo will use this in the locker room. Talk about no respect! Don't mess with the Rock fellas.
  7. Alabama has one of the fastest Defense's in the country. Look at how they were able to stay with Florida. They may not have any 4.3 or 4.2 guys but they have a group of players that are in the 4.5 range and fly to the football. And add on top of that, Alabama has one of the most dominant offensive lines in recent memory. Their offense is all about running between the tackles and getting you off balance with play action. I would not put Nebraska in the same category as Alabama. You guys are good, but Alabama is the real deal. And as I have said before, the Clemson team that played Alabama is not the same now.
  8. Not really absured to say that Clemson has a speed advantage at every position. Name one position on the field that Nebraska will have a speed advantage. Tommy Bowden built this team to be all about speed and finess. Clemson is without a doubt one of the fastest teams in the country. What separates us from the big boys of College football is physicality and offensive line play. I believe very much that our team took on the personality of Tommy Bowden while he was the coach. He is all about running by people and throwing it over the top than running over people and pushing them back. Dabo is doing all that he can to reverse that trend at Clemson. Any Clemson fan will tell you that we are a completely different team from the Bowden coached group to the Dabo coached group. I'm not saying that we are there yet but we are headed in the right direction. The game against Nebraska will go a long way in showing how we measure up against a team that is big and physical. I really do liken this game to when we played Boston College. Nebraska is very similar in alot of ways. The thing that put us in the "W" column against them, is that we came out and played VERY physical. They were the bigger team, but we came out hit them in the mouth...took their best punch and got right back up to hit them again. In the first game against Alabama, we were unable to fight back after they got up early. Again, a Tommy Bowden coached team layed down after seeing that they were not the more physical team. But back to the topic...please show me what position on the field that Nebraska has a speed advantage. I just can't see it.
  9. no, but the point is he isn't as great as he is touted... and the "yards per play" being 9.5 is including kick returns??? because uh, that skews it a TON Oh believe me, Spiller is as great as he is touted. The reason our RB's #'s have been down so much this year is because there has been no one to block for them. We have been breaking in 3 or 4 freshman and suffered alot of injuries up front from a group that was already struggling. It honestly has taken us an entire season to get even "some" continuity on the offensive line. What people fail to relize is that Clemson has had to replace 4 of its 5 starting offensive lineman for 2 years in a row. I don't care who you are, if that happens to your program you are going to struggle. Now that we have seen the offensive line develop a little over the past month or two Spiller has been able to get into space and we have found more ways to get him the ball. Davis is also getting more production as he is able to actually run through holes instead of being hit in the backfield right as he gets the ball. I'm not saying that Spiller will win the game for us, but he will definetly be the most explosive player Nebraska has seen all year. He is one of those Reggie Bush type of players that can score anytime he touches the ball. In 3 years he has more plays of 50+ yards than any player in Clemson history. In my lifetime I have never seen a Clemson player with the speed he displays. With all due respect, he is simply not the most explosive player we have seen. We played OU, MU and TT. Murry, Maclin, Crabtree all come to mind as being more explosive. Yes, I took that into account. Murray, Maclin, and Crabtree are all GREAT players but I do not think they are as explosive as Spiller. You put him on any of those teams and he is the best player on the field. I have yet to see a game at Clemson where he was not the most talented player on the field. Again, that does not always translate into production. Football is the ultimate team sport and Clemson is evidence of this. You can have all the skill in the world, but if the big boys up front don't do their job then your out of luck. Hopefully their progression will continue in the bowl game. Again, I am taking absolutely nothing away from any of the players you mentioned, but you will see what I'm talking about Jan. 1st. Spiller is the type of talent that only comes around every so often. He will make you ask yourself, "Did he just do that?"

  11. Trust me, our DB's are anything but soft. Our old defensive coordinator liked to play soft zone coverage and let our speedy/athletic corners play 10-15 yds. off of receivers. We VERY rarely got beat deep in this scheme but gave up the 5-10 yard intermediate routes. This is evident by our high statistical ranking in total defense and avg. yds. per pass given up. Our new coach likes to play more press man w/ our speed & athleticism so I wouldn't bank on getting all of those short routes like we usually give up. I also don't see your recievers being able to bust off big gains against us either...I mean lets face it, they aren't the speediest group. But back to my main point, our DB's will definetly come up and hit you and have talked all season how they love to play press. The past 3 games we have seen more of this with alot of success & forced turnovers.
  12. I think a misconseption you guys have is that Clemson is a run first team. Yes, we do run the ball but I would say since Dabo Swinney took over that we pass the ball much more. Davis will get 10-15 carries and Spiller will get around 10. With your D's strength being weakness I expect us to throw the ball alot early to set up the run. We will find different ways to get the ball in Spiller & Ford's hands through the passing game. I also see your DB's having a very difficult time matching up with a 6'5" Aaron Kelly. I would compare NU's defense to Boston College who we beat this year. Big & physical up front with some future NFL guys with a back 7 that is a little suspect. Your defense will probably be able to move the ball through short intermediate routes but it will be hard to break any big plays through the air. I will say that your offense has not faced a defense with the speed and athleticism we have outside of VT. I would even say that our D is better than VT's this year. Our DB's will give your WR's problems. From what I have seen your WR is not very athletic and lacks speed. I suspect that NU will have success running the ball. Like I have said before, this will be a close physical game between two good teams. Clemson 24 Nebraska 20
  13. I'm sure you guys are getting tired of this CJ Spiller talk but I just wanted to post a couple of videos for you guys to look at. He's just fun to watch IMO... -Video from his freshman year against GT. Note that this squad finished in the top 10 in total D & coached by one of the top coordinators in John Tenuta. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqnqJn_UQx8 -Just watch from the 1:15 mark..."The boys just BAD!" -Kickoff return against Alabama this year. I was there in the Georgia Dome & this was just after halftime. There was a feeling that we were going to make a run but Alabama was just too much. I've watched some vid's of your RB's and they aren't too shabby themselves. They will definetly be hard to stop.
  14. The presence of CJ Spiller alone will not allow for your defense to really attack. If NU's D gets caught up field they will just flip it out to him in the flats or somewhere in space to let him do his work. I don't agree that Nebraska will win this game handily by any stretch of the imagination. -Here's a highlight video of his freshman and sophomore years at Clemson. I'm sure you will get the picture. Will be a top 20 pick in the draft if he comes out this year.
  15. Our special teams play has been quite a suprise this year. In years past we have had trouble in kickoff coverage. This year we have done a very good job in containing opposing teams from breaking big ones. Our punting game has been pretty solid & we have two guys that sometimes rotate in and out. The kicker has been really good all year but missed 2 FG's in our last game. Our return game is where we can beat you. Spiller has a nack for busting long returns because of his ability to hit the hole at full speed. We will also put Jacoby Ford back deep with him on kickoffs and punts. We put them both back on punts so you can't kick away from them unless you go out of bounds.
