  1. yep, that may explain why you are dateless.... still pretty damn funny though.....
  2. No worries husker rob...... there is a lot more "wisdom" where that came from I'm just havin' fun...... i actually really respect their program...... and I am impressed with this year's version..... this post was in response to all the "dumb fans" on both sides who can't let '97 go...... Furthermore, I am pumped because KC and I jsut booked our trip to SA.... we have gone on many, many trips together and they are wild.... I just needed to get back into "form" before we hit the town * All in fun
  3. Hell, all of their calanders should be open
  4. Damn right KC !!! Can't wait to wear my '97 National Championship t-shirt all around the Michigan tail-gates Can't wait !!! In fact, didn't we sit together at the Orange Bowl the last time we broke the Michigan hearts?? Can you say Deja Vu
  5. I can't believe these guys haven't gotten over '97 yet..... holy $hit.... Man, I was pissed NU had to share it with Michigan.... Michigan was clearly the #2 team in the country.... But, if a bunch of "coke-bottled" glasses, uncoordinated, non-athletic "writers name them #1, then so be it....... it's not like the coaches, who actually played the game, live the game, breath the game possibly know more than a bunch of geeks who can't play sports for a living. Hell, these are the guys who took drama class instead of going out for athletics..... By the way..... by '97, the national "geek" media was getting tired of NU being national champs yr - yr - yr - yr....... (oh, by the way ..team of the decade)....so anyone that was remotely close, was going to get their vote... Michigan was very lucky to share that title...... By the way....this years game will prove nothing.... and anyone who says..."We are going to show them....or pay them back for '97 is a frigin idiot... I am not sure there is a single connection between the teams of '97 and '05...... oh, besides NU is still better
  6. Probably can still get them through the Qwest Center....tonights news said that 12,500 tickets have been sold, but they thought that 15,000 could watch the game.... I hope to get mine tomorrow through Qwest or ticketmaster
  7. I agree..... I think that they want this kid on the field.... Heard many people say that in his recruiting videos, Jackson reminded people of Johnny Rogers...... I think he will line up a WR.... and they will find ways to get the ball into his hands. Reverses (Hines Ward type of plays) SE/WR jail break screens Return man Look for all of this in the Bowl game !!!! I know we are weak at CB, but the coaches must feel as if we will be okay.... * We need a game breaker at the WR spot..... We have "possession" receivers, but no "game-breakers" that most successful teams have.... With Jackson and possibly Men Holt, we could be onto something..... Put that with the possession WR of SWift, Nunn, Mulkey, Petersen... and the possible return of Herian.....WOW
  8. I bleed Husker red, and always will..... there are a lot of teams in the Big 12 that I respect, and do not respect.... I hate to debate which conference is the strongest, because it is so subject to change every single year !!!!!!! With that said, I will be surprised if the Big 12 has ANY team favored to win their bowl game....... Houston will probably be favored to beat KU Clemson will be favored to be CU South Carolina will probably be favored over MU TCU will be favored over ISU Michigan will be favored over NU Oregon will be favored over OU Alabama may be favored over TT USC will be favored over TU * This post is before I have seen the "line" on the games..... I am sure that many of you have already seen them..... Are my "estimations" close? Now, how many games do you think that the Big 12 will actually win ??? At first glance, (I will probably change my mind as we go along,) but without much thought.... KU will beat Houston..... Defense is tough, Mangino has prepared for bowl before Don't be surprised in CU doesn't upset Clemson..... CU not as bad as last 3 games SC will beat Missouri..... Spurrier is too good Oregon is way too fast for OU Alabama has a great pass defense and will beat TT Tex will beat USC NU will shock Michigan With all of that = 4 losses and 4 wins.
  9. It will be difficult at best..... If we can somehow pressure Henne into throwing early, we may have a chance.... Their running game may keep us honest though and if we can't pressure, it will be a long night... Not only is the group of WR the best we have faced all yr., IMO, this is the best all-around team that we have faced all yr.....offense/defense, they are more than solid..... 3 or their losses are by less than 17 pts total.... They beat BCS Penn St., and outplayed BCS Ohio State.... The 'skers will have to play a mistake free game with a ton of emotion.... This could be a signature win, that will make the CU game seem like a joke.... GO 'SKERS
  10. I would probably say this guy will be a S..... at 6'0, 195, with 4.56 speed..... he is more apt to be a S..... 4.5 is fast, but not "burner"..... probably not enough speed to play CB or RB..... but with a nice frame, that will no doubt grow because of wt. room, his 4.5 speed would be very nice at S. I agree with BigWilly in the sense that I think it was West/Young.... meaning, I think Young is destined to be a Hawkeye, Cyclone, or CSU Ram.... Welcome aboard Mr. West..... Remember, some of the best players in history were not 4-5 star guys....they were 2-3 star guys who worked their a$$es off..... apparently BC and co. liked what the saw.
  11. Okay, I probably was wrong when I said that Henne is better than Tate.... I do believe that Henne, although only a sophomore, will be one of the better qb's that we have faced...... With Iowa's running game not being up to par, Tate has carried that team. Henne is very good, though.....His mental mistakes have come vs BCS teams that can make anyone make mistakes, especially a sophomore..... He is already is the #6 passer in school history as a sophomore, and I believe a few good QB's have played there. Hart is better than any back or trio of backs than Iowa can present..... His numbers have not been great because of injury...... When he is healthy, and he will be come Dec. 28., he is extremely tough..... probably best back NU will have faced, besides Petersen..... Their power, and the fact that they are versatile scares me a ton...... Defensively, they are always toucgh, and this year is no exception.... NU has their hands full, but I wouldn't want it any other way (except for us to play Iowa)
  12. Better draw because of WHY? Maybe only because of 'tradition' ............... Iowa would be more attractive because of the border rivalry. Iowa would be an easier (not EASY) opponent From fans reaction on tv, Iowa would have created more excitement Iowa would have been a great game.... Michigan is not a good match up for the Huskers. 1. We have made a habit of making bad QB's look good, and Henne is much better than TAte 2. Michael Hart is much better than Iowa's running game 3. Michigan shut down, Ohio State (most of game), Penn State.....2 BCS teams 4. Iowa hasn't shown me much, with the exception of the Minn. game late.... The only way Michigan is a better draw, is if NU could win, it is a "bigger" upset. Now, I am excited for this game, and am happy as hell that we are in the Alamo Bowl... What a fantastic change from last yr.... I will be rooting harder than anyone else..... but REALITY tells me that Michigan is not a better draw than Iowa.
  13. Just to add to this post..... With FSU beating VT, I believe that this should make certain that ND gets an at large bid, and in all probability, Ohio State... With LSU and VT losing, ND and Ohio State will probably be in the top 6 in the BCS poll..... I think there is a rule, that if you are in the top 6, and not a conference champ, you are guaranteed a BCS at-large If this is the case, it means that Oregon will be going to the Holiday Bowl and sounds like playing OU....... (Holiday could still chose NU, but OU - Oregon seems to be the popular choice. Iowa vs Nebraska Border War Alamo Bowl San Antonio, Texas
  14. As we sit here at the end of Championship Saturday, I now believe that as long as Oregon IS NOT a BCS team, which it appears that they will not be, that Nebraska will play Iowa in the Alamo Bowl... A couple of web sites have been updated just within the last hour, and they both have NU - IU in Alamo.... This was helped when it was reported on tv during the SEC title game, that Florida would be going to the Outback bowl instead of the Independence Bowl as everyone projected..... Iowa played Florida last year in a bowl, and I would assume that no one would be extremely excited about a rematch (although it was the best bowl of the season last yr.) IMO, the outback bowl will avoid a rematch, expecially when they can have a made for tv game with Michigan - Florida !!!! Thus, leaving the Alamo bowl with Iowa....... If Oregon is in the Holiday bowl, look for OU-Oregon, thus leaving the Alamo Bowl with Nebraska.... Iowa vs Nebraska Border War Dec. 28, 2005 San Antonio, TX
  15. I want Iowa vs NU in the Alamo Next, i would prefer NU vs FSU in the Champs Bowl I think that we are headed to the Holiday to pay UCLA.... make Dorrell pay for his dumb "steriod" comment.
  16. I agree Nameless. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if NU goes to the Holiday Bowl.... in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they still somehow match up with Oregon in the Holiday Bowl.... OU would prefer the Alamo, and I was listening to a talk show yesterday with the iowa play by play guy, and he said the Alamo would really like to have OU and Iowa. Ferentz vs Stoops Deals do get worked out, so NU may head to San Diego.. I just booked my room so I would have it.....doesn't cost a dime to cancel
  17. That was completely pointless. He has a right to post. Quit whining. Cant anybody have some fun. I hear this crap down hear every day how the huskers suck or they are no good anymore even on the sports talk shows. Then I come to the board and here the same sh#t from Former and Bernard. That is why Im such a smart ass. Don't sell yourself short KC, you have ALWAYS been a smart ass.
  18. Awesome gift man.... Congrats. I really have to show my wife your post.....
  19. Thanks for the info. I will probably have to scalp tickets there, or go to an online broker Man, I hope we play Iowa !!! We will rock San Antonio. I have been to the Orange and Fiesta (2), and bowl trips are awesome.... Never been to San Antonio, so I am looking forward to it.. If we go to the Holiday Bowl, I'm pretty sure that I can't make it....C'mon Alamo
  20. Maybe the most impotant part of this article is the fact that they seem very excited for next year. Being highly touted freshmen, that saw very limited action, they could have been "resentful" and unhappy, but it seems as if they knew their limitations. Another thing is that they realize that they have to work hard in the off-season. I can't wait.... and with Brandon Jackson HEALTHY, watch out..... 2 good I-backs with a versatile fullback..... (maybe he will earn an "H-back" label)
  21. I just reserved my hotel suite for the 27-28. I am hoping that they get to go to San Antonio. I haven't bought my tickets yet, but Monday am, I plan on being on the phone, ordering mine... Did you just go through the "Alamo bowl"? I would appreciate the info... If we go, it would be great to have a Huskerboard get together on the riverwalk maybe the night before the game.... I would be interested in doing something like that.
  22. I have said this before, I think that BC will never win a NC at NU. It isn't because he isn't capable, but I feel that once he takes this program back to the top of the Big 12, he will get the call from the NFL. If he is able to win the North a few yrs. in a row, and maybe be named Big 12 coach of the year, the NFL will definately come calling.... IMO, BC would probably take that opportunity to jump.... In the NFL, you can call names and gesture, and people don't "freak out" about it, like many on this board did, and around the state. On the other hand, I think it will be at least a few years before he thinks about the NFL.... His emotions after the CU game were real and geniune.... I really think that he is starting to "care about these kids and university"... The NFL is nothing but $, but when you work with kids, you can't help but to grow close to these young men, who lay it on the line for you.
  23. You're right that it all depends on who the bowls want, not necessarily the standings. And that's why it will come down to who will fill the seats more. That's why I don't think it will shake out the way you have listed. Of course Penn State gets the automatic BCS bid. After that the selection goes as you listed #2 Capital One #3 Outback #4 Alamo #5 Sun #6 Music City #7 Motor City Again, the order is not the standings, but the order the bowls get to chose. If Ohio State gets an at-large bid, the Capital one bowl would select Wisconsin because they are the highest rated and travel reasonably well. The Outback bowl would then surely snatch Michigan, followed by the Alamo taking Iowa and the Sun taking Minnesota. Northwestern would fall all the way to the Music City bowl because no one else would want them. The Motor city bowl would have to go elsewhere to get a team because the Big 10 only has 7 bowl elligible teams and they are all used up if OSU gets the at-large BCS bid. This means we get Iowa. If OSU somehow doesn't get the at large BCS invite, the capital one bowl would take them, pushing everyone else down a slot and giving us Michigan. I agree with everything here.... PSU = BCS OSU = BCS Wisc. = Capital Mich. = Outback Iowa = Alamo * The outback bowl will determine if NU gets Iowa or Michigan.... Didn't Iowa play Florida in the outback last yr. ?? If so, even though Iowa traveled exremely well, the outback may want a new team this yr., especially if that team is Michigan. * in your post, you said that if Ohio State doesn't get a BCS bid, this would slide everyone else down, giving NU - Michigan...... You are right about Michigan, but if all else stays the same, if Ohio State doesn't get BCS, that would probaby mean that Oregon gets the BCS slot, and will not go to Holiday. If this is the case, UCLA would rep. the Pac 10.... Holiday will NOT match OU with UCLA...(played earlier in yr), and instead of NU going to Alamo vs Michigan, they would go to Holiday to play UCLA.
  24. IMO: Alamo vs Iowa would be great...... 1. Great border rivalry 2. Iowa is good, but can struggle 3. Huge crowd would follow both teams...atmosphere 4. Go 'skers Alamo vs Mighigan would be okay..... 1. Michigan is very good 2. Their power upfront is a concern 3. Very good QB and great RB (if healthy) 4. Go 'skers Holiday vs UCLA would be okay/not great.... 1. very good team.. 2. great offense, would put up big # 3. In-state opponent with home crowd Holiday vs Oregon would be not great/bad..... 1. tremendous team.... BCS caliber 2. I love NU, but not BCS caliber 3. ton of speed 4. Almost home crowd with PAC 10 country
  25. I heard this on the radio today.... someone called in and asked.. " I wonder what Frank did with the other 5 beers of the 6 pack" ILMAO..... Situation = not funny That line funny as hell
