  1. this is the why i dont believe FS should have been fired. lots of examples there of similar things happening in other high profile programs, but it happened and im dealing with it. its one thing to be optimistic and another to be blind, things havent improved since SP brought in BC, actually they have gotten worse and thats why i dont understand everyone having blind faith in them to change the world. if there arnt doubts in peoples minds then it makes me wonder what being a fan is all about? dont you want your team to be the best? support them when they arnt, but still youve got to have expectations that they will be, and right now my expectations are kinda low and it sucks, im trying to be optimistic, but its been pretty hard watching them struggle on offense when they were supposed to be so improved this year. my point being i think no less of you for what you post because i have many of the same doubts lingering around but am less vocal about it, others maybe should get off the BC bandwagon and start being more suspicious IMO. navy was ranked last year, not top 10, top 25, but still they have limited talent and they still run an option based offense, thats the most sucessful option based team of last year IMO.
  2. you put most big 12 teams in the big 10 and they lose, hate it as much as you want, but its possibly one of the toughest confrences to win in week in and week out. anyhow i voted for USC love pete carroll, hate the trojans. all ive got to say to that is "WE ARE"......."PENN STATE".......... got tired of hearing that too i guess.
  3. auburn possibly beats USC last year, if nothing else its not a total blowout. IMO 95' played the second best team in the nation and the 03' trojans didnt, leaves some doubts in my mind, plus them slipping by cal last year, i still have my doubts about their greatness, they are very good though as much as i hate to say it.
  4. hope youve got your bridge all picked out because its gonna happen.
  5. this isnt USC, not USC's players, and not USC's coaches so its totally uncompareable. the fact that they run a similar offense=nothing, possibly its the way it is being presented is where the problem is. teams all over the nation run the WCO of some sort, but dont seem to struggle nearly as bad as the players here have, youll never convince me they cant figure out how to line up for a snap because they are all too stupid to understand. this offense will work, has worked, and will continue to work. there seems to be a problem with players not understanding and that has nothing to do with talent level, that is just basic IQ. if the coaching staff can get the players to understand the offense will produce something, low talent level or not we should have put op more points in the first three games against suspect defenses.
  6. IMO your right about BC, but im ready to be proven wrong at any time. if the O doesnt start to produce things could get really scary thoughout the rest of the year. Give them to someone who cares. thinkin hes was jokin there killer.
  7. got screwed on the regional coverage again.......... was some of that lack of offense from penalties, i saw like 39 yards offense in the third half, penalties, pitt running the ball effectivly or what? i hope the offense is getting better, but by the stats it didnt look like it. i saw the last couple minutes after they switch over to it and it looked like they could run it pretty well out of the I, but its kinda late in the game so maybe the defense was just tired, just wondering what the strory was more than anything.
  8. has your glass ever been even half full? defense is the one positive i can take from this, at least let us dream for a while if wont be true nostradomus.
  9. weeks............where you been its been months, and if hes all wrong all the time please show me whats been so right about it. and just think if it was up to pud we would probably have DW and be in here how pleasent would that be? if you dont have some doubts about the current staff then im not sure what to tell ya other than please proceed in telling me how BC is the greatest thing since a combine to come along in nebraska because im listening.
  10. totally agree with ya there kinda. we have shown no improvement on offense as of yet IMO. defense appears to be better, but things can change real fast too, i have cautious optimism hows that.
  11. wake isnt a"horrible offense" not saying they light up the world, but they can produce. IMO they wouldnt have played them as well last year. its getting ready to rain here anyhow..............
  12. IMO the defense has improved from last year. cosgrove did well at UofI thats basicly what they have always been known for, that and a few QB's. if he continues this pattern with the D i will be very impressed, understandably he may have a few games where they are outclassed, but they seem to be playing better as a team and that makes a huge difference. progress, thats what im seeing, and thats all im asking for. as far as WF goes they are a good rushing team, play in a tough confrence so i think they played a good defensive game against them, yea wake made some mistakes, but how many were forced? did andrews just hand bullocks the ball or what? is mauk color blind and just threw it to the wrong guy? IMO the husker D was just better than the wake O which gives me hope for the future.
  13. BC is suspect until proven not suspect, maybe kind of a communist way of looking at things but thats how i see the situation. i do think the defense is playing better as a team this year, whether they maintain that satus or not we'll just have to wait and see. comparing them with past defenses is kinda premature IMO. when BC has a season with 3 loses or less, he will no longer be suspect, proving his ability to applicate his coaching skills and whatnot to be somewhat equal to the previous staff IMO. i dont expect this kind of result this year, but within 2-3 more it should be within reason to have a season at least comperable to what FS left with. numbers and stats from each game and the season can tell you alot, but what it really comes down to is W's and L's, thats how a coach is rated no matter how they get them. i willing to watch and see slow improvement, im not asking for miricles, just improvement, no improvement is what will be hard for me to tolerate for very long.
  14. sorry if i was unclear about that, they dont, but their offense is sucessful, and that is the same thing everyone says about the WCO, "its sucessful".
  15. i dont like watching an offense that runs up 70 on us either, but as everyone says about the WCO "you can argue with sucess" personally i find the WCO quite boring at most times. i like seeing LB's getting decimated by FB's and TB's and TE's running over DB's and things of that nature when i watch an offense. think thats why i loved watching TO's offense in action so much.
  16. i think everyone is overlooking the fact that ohio was highly outclassed. FS did great to win that game no matter how it happened, and if you want to get down to it look at how the huskers beat wake, not exactly an impressive overpowering performance on offense either. pitt seems to be kinda in the same boat the huskers are in a "transitional period" if you will. starting out ranked or not, changes can cause strange things to happen. think of it this way, about the same things that are being said about pitt's new coach this year is what was being said about nebraska's coach last year. if you have faith in BC then you should have faith in DW at pitt. its almost like a parallel universe a semi sucessful pro coach taking over a high profile college program, if you dont think BC was semi sucessful, ask raiders fans, most i know hate him with a passion even though he coached a superbowl for them, his second year was dismal at best. both seem to be having probelms adjusting to the college game in their first few years. the question is can either of them deliver on all these expectations? and if the huskers lose to pitt? IMO it make pederson look like a moron in the eyes of much of the nation, probably alot more hype applied to this game the closer it gets media wise that is.
  17. very entertaining, but he seems to have a strange fetish with killing people with combines..........none the less ive gotta give it up to him for the iron eagle bit
  18. the o-line needs help fast. alot of run blocking is just attitude, and they just dont seem to have it, they just arnt nasty. IMO they arnt pass blocking extremly well either, ya not very many sacks, but taylor seems to be getting tatooed alot after he gets the ball off. all of the anti-solich people talk this and that about how he left nothing, but one thing he did leave was o-lineman who knew how to run block, and they didnt lose that ability in two seasons, whether they were starters or not, thats what they practiced and were recruited for. something is up with the o-line, and o-line staff that needs addressed IMO. the other problem on O seems to be the recieving corp. they just dont seem to focus on catching the ball very well at all. as far as the defense goes they seemed to fair pretty well against a very run based offense, bullocks had all those tackles because they didnt fear the pass and committed him in the box pretty regularly, kinda standard stuff, defensive backfield cleaning up against this type of offense. im interested to see how the d-backs will do against pitt and their passing ability. up front i think they did pretty well considering most of their jobs were just closing lanes and plugging things up, wake is a good rushing team, i thought the defense played them pretty well, basicly won the game. i actually gotta see this game on the teli, and the pitt game next weekend, strange things are going on in indiana........... saw the ohio game too way to go FS, he will always be a husker no matter where he goes!
  19. attitudes like that are what let teams go down the old can........... gotta be patient, but that is a bit extreme. ive seen alot of people run the option like TO, they just wernt as sucessful as he was and really he ran about as much isolation and dive plays as he did option plays it seems like in my memory, however it is kinda feeble. also seems like i remeber hearing solich say that he wanted to develop more of a passing attack to compliment the running game, but how could he, no QB to throw, who was gonna throw it, crouch??? i think not....... one of my friends once said you could cut his arm off and he would still be able to play his position, a little extreme but you get the point. the next one was lord, we saw what he could do passing as well............. everybody wants to blame solich for the demise of the huskers, but really i dont think he had the personal he really wanted either, and still managed to produce, yes in a similar offense, but everyone acts like he just lived to run the QB keeper, IMO he didnt have much of a choice alot of the time he had to keep the ball with his playmakers. all that being said if BC does not produce a winning season this year IMO he will be in deep water looking for water wings to help him stay afloat, not saying he will get fired, but i dont think he will have much job security oh and heres this for me talking about solich..........
  20. evenly matched instate rivials compared to nebraska/maine is kinda a strech. i think there is a better point to that game, if the huskers dont manage to improve their running game they will have no offense at all. miami and FSU were both able to pass because they could run. no rushing threat just allows the defense to tee off on the QB, which wont be good against better defensive fronts. lack of a rushing threat is not something good to have and that goes for about every offense ever devised. should be some real concern about this, if we cant punch it in against maine in a short yardage situation in the coaching staffs opinion then what is the future look like for short and goal? better score before they get inside the 15 or 20 i guess.
  21. Ralph, its just great that you your pumping maine up, but what would you expect if you put a destroyer against a battleship? sweet pea in the ring with ali? point is the huskers used to play the top ranked teams in the nation and won a large percentage of the games and now some people are just overjoyed that they played a tough and determined maine team and won. sorry if im raining on your 1AA parade but the sad fact is they should even be in the same zip code but they are. sure we have had facts and history lessons on how they have always competed well, but this was supposed to be the season where BC and co. got there system going and the players understood it, so wouldnt you cruiseto a comfortable lead if you take what you want and show all the doubters how things are operating more effeciently? honestly i have no idea who is to blame, some blame former staff for lack of talent on the field, others blame current staff for not having coaching talent, truth being its probably some of both and then some other things, but your never gonna convince me that maine and nebraska should be on a level playing field, the huskers should have won that game easily and used it for a warm up like has been done with 1AA teams in the past. well i guess we will see if maine is for real in the upcoming games the huskers will play, because the rest of the season is gonna be tougher IMO. maybe im all wrong about maine and they will take 1AA by storm this year, but im betting they are just an average team that was alot better perpared to play a team and staff that thought they could just overlook them. hopefully they prepare better for the upcoming games, because if thats all they have we have a long season ahead.
  22. im just using them as an example, not really comparing offenses, but if ya want to ND was almost as run oriented as NU in the 90's, remeber a guy named lou holtz? a guy that also ran option quite frequently when he had the QB to do so? its taken them quite a while to adjust, thats why im giving this time. im hoping we dont have to go through 3 coaches like they have so far to make things go. the reason i brought them up was because they are in a similar position we are and happen to be playing pitt, who is on our schedule. im just suggesting we use them as a measuring stick of sorts. But ND has a good, successful coach. one of the things that should be considered when measuring.
  23. maybe thats the vibe i get from him, he just doesnt seem real popular amongst some of his former players too, hope im wrong, hope im confusing confidence with arrogance. im with ya on last year though, seems like he gave up on winning and just wanted to try to build for the future, dont think that was right for the seniors IMO. hopefully if things start going sour this year its not a repeat of last. honestly i hope we're all wrong about BC and he makes a major impact here, but i do have my doubts about him being the man to lead the husker nation back to the top.
  24. im just using them as an example, not really comparing offenses, but if ya want to ND was almost as run oriented as NU in the 90's, remeber a guy named lou holtz? a guy that also ran option quite frequently when he had the QB to do so? its taken them quite a while to adjust, thats why im giving this time. im hoping we dont have to go through 3 coaches like they have so far to make things go. the reason i brought them up was because they are in a similar position we are and happen to be playing pitt, who is on our schedule. im just suggesting we use them as a measuring stick of sorts.
  25. still kinda waiting on some proof from BC and co. that so many promised......... didnt see the game, but score kinda says alot, plus what everyone has said doesnt make me feel anymore comfortable about what is happening. first game of the season yea, but yea against maine starters probably should have played a little over a half and been done, not hacking on maine, its just the way it should have been. the pitt game will tell you alot about this team, compared with another "rebuilding" program. ND pretty well just handed pitt their ass, and if the huskers struggle or lose everyone should realize how far off the pace we really are, but if they win it might say some good things, like we are staying on pace with other schools that are going through growing pains. anyways im staying kinda neutral still, but still waiting and wanting for some sign of improvement by this staff on last year IMO.
