  1. *Sighs in disappointment* Great game guys, and needless to say I'm majorly disappointed! Not to take away from your team, but I really felt like we should have won that game. For me, this feels like the Maryland loss from earlier in the season. I really got to say, I like y'alls QB. Ganz (sp?) showed great poise, and looks like a guy that will be playing on Sundays. I don't think he was ready for our speed on D initially, but it looks like the right adjustments were made, and he hit his stride. Hats off to classy fans and a great, albeit heartbreaking game. Hopefully we won't have to wait 27 years until we play each other again. Cheers, and good luck in 2009. OrangeCrush
  2. Hey all, So the following is a stupid story about the video game. All season I've been avoiding my NCAA Football game (for some reason I think it's bad luck to play during the season - that obviously didn't matter this past season). So anyway, about 2 weeks ago I dust it off, and play for the first time since summer. Up first is Duke, and I notice I'm winding down the season ranked in the top 15 and have one loss (I didn't remember all of that from summer). So Duke nearly beats me, as they catch me dusting off the cobwebs, next up is USuCk, and I give them a thorough smackdown, then on to the ACC match up vs. Miami. Now keep in mind this whole time I haven't been paying attentions to anything else going on other than Clemson. See, my system is on the fritz, and is as slow as a turtle, so over the past few weeks, I wasn't paying attention to the other teams, rankings, heisman watch, other awards, etc....(just modifying my playbook from game to game). So....This brings me to the point of the thread. After I beat Miami in the ACCCG, in OT, and I advance the week, I end up getting a bunch of awards, with the O-Line, my punt returner, RB, and SS....I then get invited to play in the Orange Bowl vs. #1 Nebraska. Now how cool (in the absolute dorkiest way) is that? It was getting late and I didn't feel like playing, but I did, how could I not, and ended up winning a hard fought battle. The final is slipping me now, but it was something like 31-28. It may have been more, I want to say I got a late TD so maybe it was 35-28 or something. Nonetheless it came down to the last few seconds of the 4th, and I thought it was cool that after not playing the game for so long, that it worked out that CU and Neb play in the NCG, at the Orange Bowl. So have any of y'all matched the teams up via NCAA Football yet?
  3. back to the purple unis....say what you will, but I think this looks great:
  4. Oh yeah? Well our coach has never lost a bowl game ....as a head coach...he's lost the Music City Bowl and last year the Chic-fil-A Bowl. Ganz will be remembered as the QB who only beat one good team , KU. I sure as hell wouldn't be putting him on any GREATEST list. Clemson 42 NU 24 You're crazy. I agree! Clemson 146, Nebraska 3
  5. Dawkins has been a pain in the ass for me during his pro career - he's made my Redskins look downright silly on numerous occasions. But...he's a hell of an athlete, and the only reason I do hate on him is b/c he's not in the burgundy and gold.
  6. Some quick notes about Clemson Memorial Stadium. • The North Upper Deck (on the right in the bottom pic) is actually larger than the South Upper Deck. • The bottom pic is taken from the top of the hill (the hill is filled in with fans after the team runs down the middle of it, I'm sure you guys know that). • The beautiful new/in progress WestZone is directly ahead in the bottom picture. You can see the pre-WestZone Death Valley in the middle pic. Now wouldn't you Huskers like to come visit for a home and home??? I haven't been to DV since the Maryland 2004 game - pre WEZ. I guess one thing we can thank Coach Bowden for is pushing the WEZ and facilities.
  7. I actually got to meet him once after a Clemson game. Crazy thing was that I was taller than him, but he was like 4 of me as far as mass goes. I'd love to see him come back to Clemson and coach the LBs. Here's a pic from his days in Death Valley:
  8. so staying with the theme of the thread, here are some NFL stars from Clemson: The Perry Brothers: Levon Krikland: Brian Dawkins:
  9. I'd really like to see 2 conferences schedule a bunch of matches against each other in the same year. Problem is the distance for travelling fans. NU always brings a big contingent, but a lot of the other B12 teams don't travel very well. I suspect not a lot of ACC fans would travel to B12 destinations either. Yeah it would be hard to have Miami fans go all the way to Colorado or something...Some of the schools would travel well (Clemson / Nebraska), but a good chunk would not. Like no way Duke fans will travel for Football (BBall they would). Still, it would be nice to see a few more match ups, like the home and home we did w/ A&M a few years back.
  10. Oh yeah? Well our coach has never lost a bowl game
  11. Good link I love the header! A USuCk fan giving a Clemson player the bird. Priceless. Here is the ACC ranking (Clemson's 3rd) Here is the Big XII
  12. The run starting at the 2:46 mark is incredible. Arguably one of the must unreal and greatest runs ever in college football history. That video is so emotional. I can't help but almost get teary eyed and jacked up for Husker football every time I watch it. It's become kind of a tradition at my house to put it up on the big screen before the game starts to get us all jacked up and ready to go! all fixed
  13. We would love to have yall down. How many of you Huskers would make the trip to Clemson? I know that if at all financially possible, I would make the trip to Lincoln in a heartbeat. I'd love to see this happen. On a side note, but related topic, I'd like to see more match ups between the Big 12 and ACC in general. Even in college hoops have a Big 12 / ACC challenge (we do this w/ the Big 10 now). On the grid iron, it would be sweet if colleges did what the NFL does and have divisions line up against each other. For example, this year all NFC East teams have played, or will play all AFC North teams, and NFC West teams. I think it would be cool to pit the ACC vs. Big 12 as well as other conferences against each other (ACC rarely plays PAC 10 either).
  14. I could see Black jersey's looking pretty cool n'all, but since it's not part of the colors, I don't know if should be done. Isn't Nebraska, Red & White, no ifs ands or buts about it? Like with Maryland, they use the state flag colors which is Red, Yellow, Black and White (I know the last two aren't technically colors). So they incorporate it all, like the football team wears all red, or the bball team in all yellow or something. So that makes sense, but for Nebraska to do it, would seem kinda like a gimmick (as an earlier poster suggested).
  15. I like the all purple or all orange, or combos of those 2 colors with white, but this purple/orange thing looks like poo poo. It's so ugly I can't help but to like it.
  16. Seems like a bitter divide within the Tiger Nation regarding the purple. I think Tommy B got a bit carried away with it, but I definitely don't mind it now and then (maybe like once a year in Football and 2 or 3 times in Basketball). What I REALLY hate is when people wear navy blue instead of purple. Like when I see orange shirts with navy blue trim instead of purple. Navy Blue is not, has never been, and will never be part of the official school colors. Real men aren't scared to wear purple; ask Ray Lewis. or Dennis Rodman... Zing!
  17. Like several other NU posters said earlier, if CU blitzs alot and goes man then I think CU is in for a long day. NU's offense takes advantage of mismatches, all triggered by Ganz's ability to read it and make checks. They also run plays like the zone read that allows Ganz and co to make plays on the fly. NU also likes middle screens and plays to the IB that basically destroy a blitz if executed. I think it will be interesting how the strength of NU's D, the D-Line, handles the great 1-2 punch CU has running the ball. That is the key to the game IMO. I think NU puts points up, question is if CU will keep up. Clemson's D has certainly played more aggressive / physical lately, but I'm curious as to how our LBs will match with your RBs and TEs, and the short passing game in general. Our LB core is young, and they really haven't filled out yet...I kinda view our LB corp as a bunch of strong safeties. We have some freshman playing, as well as a former safety playing there. When the freshmen mature a bit and grow physically, I'm looking for Clemson to have some stout LBs, but for now, it's like we're running a 4-7 (7 DBs) in a way, or a variation of a dime package.

A more disgusting combo I don't think I have seen, that is until I saw the all Purple unis by Clemson! Yeah, the Raven's unis are pretty bad - especially the Arena Football looking all black ones. Sure I'm biased n'all but I really think that orange paw on the purple jerseys looks sharp. Plus it's a cool shade of purple, like a really dark/royal looking purple. It's not like its a lavender uniform or anything; remember folks, purple is a sign of royalty. Anyway, Since this is basically a uni thread, here are my favorite combos: 1. Orange Jerseys / White Pants 2. Orange Jerseys / Orange Pants 3. Purple Jerseys / White Pants 4. White Jerseys / White Pants 5. Purple Jerseys / Orange Pants 6. White Jerseys / Orange Pants 7. Purple Jerseys / Purple Pants 8. White Jerseys / Purple Pants

  20. Y'all should hope we don't wear this uniform (we're undefeated in this combo - not worn since 2006)
  21. Hey y'all Tiger Fan here in DC, came to the board to some Gator Bowl talk, and wanted to see in I can find any Redskins fans here as well. As a life long Skins fan, nothing hurt the organization more than losing Sean Taylor. He was one of those players who only come along every so often. A true talent and work horse, and he was dearly loved by the fans. He was a very misunderstood guy, and was trying his best to be the best father he could be and the best free safety in the NFL. He was a team leader, and for such a ferocious hitter, a really well mannered, humble, and quiet guy (he rarely talked to the media, but would chat it up with fans). He is missed, and I'm happy the Redskins honored him by inducting him into their Ring Of Fame. On a lighter note, are there any former Nebraska greats that went on to the Redskins?
  22. Hello Husker fans! Excited to be playing y'all in the Gator Bowl. With Clemson, as some of y'all have probably read by now, the O Line is our weak point. We're gonna have trouble running against the Husker D Line, so IMO Clemson should set the Passing and Screen game to establish a run. If we can connect on a few passes to Jacoby Ford, CJ Spiller, and Aaron Kelley, that will hopefully back y'all off a bit, to allow us to get the ball in James Davis's hands. He can be a pretty hard nose runner and plow out those tough 5 to 10 yard runs. So if we can gel with the passing game, I think that will be key. Defensively, Clemson has been pretty solid, although a bit of a bend don't break mentality comes in now and then. Our D Line and Secondary are good, but we have some weakness in the Linebacker corps. The past few games we've seemed to play a more physical game, cutting some of our guys loose, and this has seem to amp their on field intensity. The big Question however is how will the game be called defensively?? Our DC split, so this could work to Nebraska's favor. In a game like this, I can see a hard fought, passionate game that comes down to CJ Spiller returning a kickoff or Punt Return, and that's the difference. Clemson 24 Nebraska 17.
