Gotta disagree here. He certainly would've been capable. Hell, even TO, for as fantastic a motivator, HC, and offensive playcaller as he was, left the D totally for McBride (God, it feels so dirty and wrong to even hint at comparing TO and Cally!). I just don't think Cally was happy in the NCAA. He's an NFL guy at heart. I think Bo probably could do well if given a fantastic OC. I personally voted B1G champs for his ceiling as a HC, if he got a McBride-esque OC that could handle that whole side of the ball WELL. I just don't want to go through the growing pains of grooming a new offense under Bo. There's been so many tough losses and so much controversy, I feel a new chapter is in everyone's best interest.

I know this horse has been beat to death, but Matthew, I agree. I'm just really disappointed that we're the ones on the receiving end of the punches and not the delivering end. It's been that way for the better part of Bo's regime and it speaks to the mental toughness of the team. I feel like there's not trust between the two units that they'll hold yup their end and it negatively affects them both. This poor team is too flawed. Time to start over. Thanks for your efforts Bo. As far as the minority of fans who still compare Bo and TO goes, here's what you need to know about them. You remember what got Tom to turn the corner and win his championships? He made a philosophical change to his defensive scheme, putting safeties at LB and linebackers along the DL to get more speed on the field. And they terrorized offenses that decade. What we have now is a coach who is too stubborn to change his scheme even facing Wisconsin when it was universally agreed by smart football minds we should've. Pretty dang different, no?

Hopefully you've laid off the paint lately Teach. I'd hate it if you were forced to drink that Barton's out of necessity.

Sorry, had to come back to this thread. Just had a revelation. I think we can now fire Bo with just cause. This was a hate crime!

This is exactly where I'm at Zoogs. Given time and admin/booster support, I think eventually everything could fall right where he could certainly contend for a MNC every once in a while and possibly win one. A lot of that is luck, let's not beat around the bush. I just don't think he'll be able to do so consistently, with the flaws and shortcomings we've shown. And I don't want to wait around that long, frankly, for something that MIGHT happen ONCE IN A WHILE. I don't think he can acheive consistent greatness.

The "firing a 9 win coach" argument is SOOOOO played out and asinine. It's just flat out wrong. Those same people saying that seem to ignore the fact that while we're winning our 9 games a year, our prestige and the weight we carry as a program is probably declining. That's what happens when you get blown out twice a year and drop a couple games you should've won. They act like we have some infallable air around the program that we'd be ruining by letting go of a marginal head coach. That's just a flat out lie.

Now Bo is ticking off the people we actually care about... Great. Burning bridges like nobody's business. Furthermore, what the hell were we calling a sweep run with Cross for anyway? You gotta know your personnel better than that. Good god.

I'd agree that the scheme does work -- but only if players are disciplined. And how does a player learn discipline? From his head coach. What happens if the head coach lacks discipline? Scoreboard, that's what happens. That's why Bo must go. THANK YOU. Beck is a trainwreck as an OC. Bo doesn't have the superstars to make his defense better than average. He can't inspire confidence in his players. HE'S. DONE.

This was my whole problem with Shanle's diatribe about the players not executing. They're not executing because the scheme is TOO! DAMN! HARD! Not everyone plays in the NFL and can understand this stuff like the back of their hand, Scott. These are effing 18, 19, 20 yeard old kids.

No one technically has Leidner. The OLB follows the RB when he crosses the QBs face, so if the DE crashes down and doesn't contain, Leidner has room until the CB/S/LBs can converge to tackle him.
