  1. Ok, so your logic is that because everyone sucked last year, it's okay? If that's the case, then why don't we just keep our whole o-line in from last year? Is that what I said? Well then I guess we’ll need to petition the NCAA to get Hickman another year of eligibility. Are you one of those guys who thinks Yoshi has a starting tackle spot locked down? If so there is no need for you to cream your jeans over some incoming juco just because there was a puff piece in the newspaper about him. Do you think Fort Scott Community College has a better program for offensive lineman than NU? I think he will be good. Maybe great. Someday. But I want to see him play a few series first before we put him in the NU offensive lineman hall of fame. A few series in Div. I-A, that is, not community college foootball.
  2. Toby was better and Suh was better than Ingram. Even Colt was better until Suh shut him down in the Big 12 C Game. RBs alone Gerhart, Spiller, and Best were all better than Ingram and thats just the short list. Mark Ingram is awesome. He reminds me of Maurice Clarett. Oh nevermind.
  3. I really, really hope that's not the case. DJ and Marcel have no business being a tackle. Oh come on. You can’t be serious. D.J. got beat some, but who didn't last year? D.J. looked pretty good most of the time. Marcel didn’t play as much, but looked promising for a sophomore.
  4. This could work out pretty well for us. Mike Smith is smart. Doesn’t seem to miss too many assignments. He will do fine at center. But I doubt that Yoshi starts at LT this year if Smith moves. He will back up Marcel Jones. That would be my guess.
  5. Everybody seems to like the old school plain-Jane red "N". But if we were first starting a football team from scratch and given the choice between the two, I wonder how many would pick the plain "N" then versus the more stylish design. I suspect most prefer the plain "N" because we grew up with it, and it is familiar. Not necessarily because it is better looking. The same could be said for our offensive scheme three years ago.
  6. You are thinking of Jaivorio. Cruz just ate himself out of football, putting it bluntly. Yea.. Cruz said that football wasn't him nemore.. but looking at him, i'd have to agree that he ate himself out of it.. lol He could have been a great player if he had learned how to say two words: "I'm full." (quote lifted from Jerry Glanville bagging on Lincoln Kennedy.)
  7. I know the roster said 215 lbs last year. But Dontrayveous sure looked bigger than that. And good speed for his size. I can’t wait to see him this season, lowering a shoulder into the LB with 235 lbs of muscle behind it.
  8. My prove it list: Keith Williams: Tons of raw talent. I want pancakes. Eric Hagg: Won’t have that pesky Irish walk-on starting in front of him this year. Sean Fisher: Show us why we should recruit more in Omaha. Or less. Niles Paul: It’s his year to shine. I want to see glue fingers. Kevin Kugler and Mike Severe: No more puff pieces or you guys do a 100 yards of pencil rolls.
  9. I predict a sellout crowd at the spring game this year. And I believe it will be the first time we have sold out the spring game. We came close last year (77,670), and even closer in 2008 (80,149). Schools like Alabamy and Ohio State can't really lay claim to having a sellout crowd since they give away their spring game tickets or "sell" them for next to nothing. At NU we actually sell the tickets instead of giving them away to bolster the numbers. GO BIG RED!!
  10. It’s a possibility—having Memorial Stadium full for the spring game. Husker fans have always been zealous. But I wonder if there’s enough enthusiasm to fill the stadium?
  11. If our defense is as good as last year, we WILL be able to compete with anybody in the country. /pour me anther glass of red Kool-AId.
  12. 808 is looking pretty good right now. Not leading, but his final four are still in the hunt. How in the world did you pick N. Iowa over Kansas?
  13. Hearing about the injury--it makes sense now. Hard to play with turf toe. Especially coming off the edge. It is surprising Allen had as good of a year as he had.
  14. I have to admit, the resemblance is pretty uncanny. Uncanny. But not pretty.
  15. +1. Ricky has the athleticism to play Sundays. Not sure about the noggin. I hope he’s been hitting the books during his year off. The playbooks, that is.
  16. Hmmm. Maybe booze is the secret to longevity in the NFL.
  17. Bo Pelini = Delmar from “O Brother Where Art Thou” page 7
  18. Ganz himself would have been perfect to run a spread offense. I hope Green has the aptitude. Or Lee or Martinez or Washington.
  19. A lot of tough talk out of Boise State last couple of years. Haven’t done much to back it up. Other than beating up Big Sky patsies on the smurf turf. Time for Boise to put on their big boy pants and play a real football team. The home-away-home NU proposed would have been a good start. If they think they can hang with us, that is. I think Boise-NU would be a great series. I'd like to see it happen.
  20. Exactly. How can this author think NU is weaker at safety than LB? Linebacker was by far our weakest point last year. By far. And we graduated our sole bright spot, Dillard. Unless Fisher brings some game this year we might be boned at LB. I’m still up in the air with Compton—-don’t know whether he’s a player or not. Eric Martin might just step in and be the man. Might have to.
  21. I agree, but the coaches have said that Hagg is just too valuable at nickel to move. . On a side note, putting Corey Cooper in next to P.J. Smith might be the best scenario. The way I see it, Cooper's going to be a star one day. With the extreme amount of talent and experience and we'll have at corner, nickel, and dime, pressure on the safeties will be minimal. Maybe Cooper gets a year of experience this year when expectations are low, and he'd be able to develop. Then a few years down the road, him and P.J. could be beastly. Thoughts? I would like to see Corey Cooper get on the field and contribute, even if its on special teams. But I also would like to see him redshirt to be able to get a grasp of the defense mentally. PJ Smith will be a beast, and for years to come the Smith Cooper duo will strike fear into recievers across the Big 12. I agree Cory Cooper will be a star. Someday. I doubt he'll be ready this year though, as a true frosh. I’d say we would be better off moving one of our corners to safety. Like Gomes or West to FS. I think either would work out fine.
  22. What about Hagg? He may be the most talented guy we got coming back this year. And he can play both safety spots. The safety spots are not our weakest positions. LBs are.
  23. 2 points for name spelling? Ha ha! I wonder how many points for detecting a bogus blog article.
