  1. maybe this is why Perleman will not return Boise States call and accept thier offer for a game next year.... same kinda issue... Take the Boise offer and Play Martin....simple solutions to clusterfug problems. soft teams soft schedules, soft players, soft results.
  2. Another observation about CS....in a way its good that he will sit and watch the first 15 games. I've read this morning on other threads from people who know, that his basketball IQ is high. While watching and practicing, he will get a chance to see what he must do to be a whole player, in Docs system. Respected posters at other threads are saying he has the IT factor....If he has the IT factor, he will learn to maximize his contributions to the games functions every minute he is on the court seeing his offense/defense as the same, he will Love doing the whole game thing which marks his identity with the IT factor in action. 17 points and 7 rebounds, is a good start, but within his game in this NEW system, was he a whole player? Probably not yet. Its apparent from the reports that his "head" is in the game, now its up to him to polish his functional performance across the minutes played. The same can be said for Quincy and Gallegos, each has what the team needs functionaly for the positions they play.....they dont have natural deficits, so they are mostly challenged to get the mental part of the game to a higher level as whole players in this system.
  3. Doc said in his post game notes ""There are a lot of good things (that we did). The thing I told the team, my math is not really good, but I think when you get it down to about eight or nine guys, you're looking at 25 minutes a person." If the season plays out to this tune that would account for many of last years deficits. minutes per guy is now a function of size and capability, whereas last year, the size deficit accounted for the lack of productivity. Harley had 937 minutes and at his size we could not have expected him to lead in rebounds, he just wasnt able to be productive in all those minutes played, due to his size and the positions he was assigned. A 9 man rotation with this new bunch enables better matchups to functions in every game. This will produce a better result across all major categories of the game, Attempts, Rebounds, Blocks, Steals, forced turnovers, etc. Notice the performance % are not stressed, Ubell drew fouls in rebounding which enabled FT attemps, The fact that he made most is the plus versus missing them, but it was the play, the action, the position he was in that matters in the minutes. This game was a chance for the players to see what is wrong in eachs game. In order for this team to be really good the players need to execute across the game functions according to each mans capability within his match up area. Docs system and schemes, enable performance, performance is never guaranteed. In Docs system if the natural deficits like size miss matches are removed, than the team can find ways to maximize productivity in the minutes played. Combinations of talent enable the functions and the productivty that follows. Ball handling, steals, passing, etc on offense and defense enable a teams smaller guys to set up the taller guys functions and vice versa. The minutes played should always be determined by a combination of skills applied offensively and defensively. Having no capability to perform basketball functions defensively should reduce any particular players minutes in any given game, same with offense. Whole players efforts applied within a system produces optimum performance for team results. The players themselves need to see thier own deficits and make corrections, Diaz will learn quickly not to have 8 turnovers because his ball positioning was wrong. His offensive and defensive functions were generally good 10 rebounds is a huge plus for the team from this position...but 8 turnovers reduces his effectiveness to only +2 for ball handling. This kind of exhibition is like Doc says, for teaching. If these players understand that Docs system makes them better players, they will learn and do better every minute they get.

  5. completely agree. Last years minutes illustrate that the players not returning played 57% of total minutes played. The rebounding stat best illustrates the deficit as in those combined minutes, those players got only 47 % of all rebounds. That is a deficit within a multi valued reference space. Diaz, UBEL, & Hankins will greatly enhance the teams overall rebounding, and rebounding has major consequences on game outcomes. Be they put backs for points or new starts for the offense, rebounding deficit between us and opponents will be a big factor in meeting this next teams potential for a 22-7 season. The wild cards are referees.....a factor that keeps gamblers whole. Rebounding Improvement will make a big difference Last years rebounding About Last Season 861 total rebounds versus 1066 by opponents Offense 225 avg 7.25 per game Defense 636 avg 20.5 per game 205 fewer rebounds than opponents 87 fewer on offense 118 fewer on defense NU's 09/10 squad must minimmaly cut the deficit in rebounding totals versus opponents by 80% Last year we had serious trouble getting points on offensive put backs, there were many games where two and three attempts were rejected or just would not fall. Our offensive rebounding numbers need to improve, in quantity and quality, meaning the ball scored or we get to eat a new shot clock. Our Size was the shortcoming as the totals and results showed sloppy play and lack of bodies in position to help. A realistic target total would be +140 on offense and +120 on defense bringing us to parity and better than last years opponents totals. Raising the Of R to 12 per game, allows the game to increase Docs systemic advantage. Kick the ball out or score, are both areas where the O f rebounding will enhance the Skers record. The points from rebounding put backs needs to really ramp, our misses last year cost us two games, minimum. On defense the rebounding deficit accounts for + points against us. This again needs to be cut. Our new height should enable this margin to cut in half at a minimum. It may not come in all games, especially against B12 powers, but getting this gain at all, helps improve our chances to achieve a forecast for a plus 4 win column move..

  7. A MVRS is multi valued reference space. Which is quantum in nature. Not single valued analysis such as opinion based on a bottom line...AD scored the most, that is self evident, get into the minutes and find out where the deficits were. While last years team may go down in history as one of the best, considering thier height, clearly the new roster with its returning players offers lots of upside against the clear limitations of last years minutes played. 08/09 Minutes Played by non returners A Dagunduro 800 minutes FG Attempts 275 Rebounds 135 rating .51 Steve harley 937 minutes FG Attempts 291 Rebounds 95 rating .41 Cookie M 856 minutes FG Attempts 162 Rebounds 64 rating .26 Paul Velander 717 minutes FG Attempts 168 Rebounds 51 rating .30 C Balham 273 minutes FG Attempts 38 Rebounds 62 rating .37 This year projected Minutes PG - Lance Jeter 6'3" SG - Sek Henry 6'4" minutes 787 attempts 190 rebounds 105 Rating .37 Wing - Ryan Anderson 6'4" minutes 720 179 attempts 115 rebounds Rating .41 Toney McCray 6'6" minutes 492 152 attempts 83 rebounds Rating .47 PF - Brandon Ubel 6'10" PF - Brain Diaz 6"11" PG - Brandon Richardson 6' minutes 414 attempts 80 rebounds 34 Rating .275 SG - Ray Gallegos 6'3" SG/Wing - Bear Jones 6'4" Wing - Myles Holley 6'4" PF - Christian Standhardinger 6'8" PF - Quincy Hankins-Cole 6'8" Wing - Adrien Coleman 6'4"
  8. Missing here is charges drawn, that was a big factor in some games and allowed for the team to steal game momentum. The ratings are designed to illustrate a players productivity, on court influence plus or minus. F T is free throw attempts, this factor illustrates actions that have a consequence, by way of example harley played the most minutes but drew a below avg FT for minutes played, SEK raised that factors productivity when he played. Both were playing out of thier natural positions, but each played within the same DOC system. So it is the System that yields the results. We can only hope that this years Huskers will continue to play this system, because if they do, then the forecast for the season will be met. compare the point guards with point guards, as these ratings reflect what the players assignment is. Going forward the improvement can be seen by the productivity against current rating. 08/09 Minutes Played by non returners A Dagunduro 800 minutes FT Attempts 145 blks 14 steals 39 rating .2475 Steve harley 937 minutes FT Attempts 86 blks 2 steals 45 rating .142 Cookie M 856 minutes FT Attempts 71 blks 0 steals 45 rating .135 Paul Velander 717 minutes FT Attempts 38 blks 1 steals 16 rating .076 C Balham 273 minutes FT Attempts 26 blks 2 steals 0 rating .10 This year projected Minutes PG - Lance Jeter 6'3" SG - Sek Henry 6'4" 787 minutes 80 F T attempts 8 Blocks 29 Steals Rating .148 Wing - Ryan Ander. 6'4" 720 minutes 97 F T attempts 3 Blocks 41 Steals Rating.195 Toney McCray 6'6" 492 minutes 41 F T attempts 18 Blocks 24 Steals Rating .168 PF - Brandon Ubel 6'10" PF - Brain Diaz 6"11" PG - Brandon Rich 6' 414 minutes 39 F T attempts 0Blocks 25 Steals Rating .154 SG - Ray Gallegos 6'3" SG/Wing - Bear Jones 6'4" Wing - Myles Holley 6'4" PF - Christian Standhardinger 6'8" PF - Quincy Hankins-Cole 6'8" Wing - Adrien Coleman 6'4"

  10. ADag was our best player last year.... however harley velander, miler and ballham now gone were also our biggest liabilities. Productivity across offense and defense clearly illustrates that these players, were the right ones to lose. Nothing personal....the challenge is to subdivide the minutes played across the new talent applied to the game factors..... This years team should by playing in Docs system, make up for the deficits of last years players. We had a good year last year...however the players that got the most minutes were not our best players accept for AD. The stats indicate that the players handicaps accounted for the deficit in the current forecast for 09/10 record of 22-7. What we compare is understanding deficit productivity....the data are clear.

  13. True, while playing a lights out game he showed no signs of showboating at all. Not even a hint of celebration. But, am reminded of the truth in his statement about the other guys....Ask VandeBosch who was the beneficiary of Albert Haynesworth in the middle at TN.....without him not so good because he gets the attention. Bo predicted this Crick performance early in the season....Crick needs to enjoy this time and better himself with each performance...love to see him do better this coming week than last....would show a high bandwidth to take full advantage of that which is given.
  14. Sorry, but he played terrible. People are guessing it was the crowd, or the blitzes, or whatever, and maybe those contributed, but there was definitely something else. During that stretch of 8 incomplete passes, those were not because of pressure or covered receivers, he was flat out MISSING throws. Even when Currenski got open on that third and short, if Lee would have actually thrown the ball to him he could have started running downfield, but instead he had to tip-toe the sideline and fall out of bounds. There was something seriously wrong with Zac Lee today, and it was a separate factor than the pressure (most of the time when he got hit he still had a few seconds in the pocket anyways) or the receivers being well covered. Sorry, but he played terrible. Says it all, the rest of the thread reduces to plausible deny ability. End of story.
  15. We have had many such stories across husker history. Playing time will demonstrate what the kid has or does not have, there is no substitute for game experience. Not disputing the depth chart, R & R both know the plays and Watson requires that. LW tapes do illustrate his skills, his spring game stats were as good or better than everyone else, he has the skills to make a difference, remember last year after doses of Lucky and Helu, when Castille came in and changed the tempo? I do, and see this situation as the same or diversely similar. MC Knight is a starter, we dont know how good LW is, but me thinks he is good enough to make those lower on the depth chart want to quit. If he is as special as I've mentioned only game time snaps will illustrate it. Have no problem if it takes a while for his emergence, my contention is he will emerge, the intangibles are there, the history is there, there is nothing in the current equation that makes my assessment wrong...when LW gets his plays attitudes from the fan base will change. Am not saying that LW has the hands needed to be an everdown starter, because I just dont know. Its his running style that has me pumped. A Talent whose time will come.
  16. Burkhead isnt the issue, and the depth chart is ok with me. But Lester Ward runs different like J MCknight....once he gets some game you will see it too. Not saying anything about the two ahead or behind him...just saying the guy needs to get more snaps and the rest of you will come along. As for Martin, he took 2 & 3 guys on special teams leaving two guys like Thanarse, free...opposing coaches must have watched the film from game 1....Martin is a player, his explaination for removing the helmet is logical if it happened as he said, so be it, more of a natural reaction to a immediate crisis, than anything else... See how VT lines up on him, they have excellent spl teams and understand him as effective or ineffective....great coaches scheme the talent and find the weakness. Martin must have been percieved as a real threat to double or triple team him. Other players should see that as thier opportunity and give Martin an assist.
  17. Helu should do better and if not give Lester Ward more snaps to get an idea of just how much is missing from our awareness of him!
  18. You're right he hasn't been in that situation, but wouldn't you be even more worried if he HAD been in that situation so far? I agree with you though, if the coaches get these guys fired up and ready to play mistake free football we can come away with a hard earned win. Watching USC's freshman QB last night would be good training for any youngsters on how to take the crowd out of the game. That kid was spectacular in that setting...if he can do it so can our young guys.
  19. This is a question that could be answered once more film of Lester is taken. Its apparent to me that these two are diversely similar....Personally would like to see Lester get a bunch more attempts in the coming weeks. After watching Mc Knight take over the last USC drive, the whole time, I just saw Lester Ward...... Play Lester more.... is the only way we'll know.
  20. Precisely why there should be no attempt to create a QB controversy. CG is a team player, and understands whats missing from his playbook affects his teams chances. his acknowledgment that he has 4% of the playbook down needs to be respected. We all know he is a special talent...but as a team guy, he's up front about his own limitations. Lets say he can add 10 plays a week? Or some other number...sheesh, as games go we should enjoy his visits, and be realistic about it.

  22. Yeah, as was already stated, FAU was running a heavy protection scheme so there wasn't a lot to expect from a four man pass rush. I would add for the dislikes the D had a few problems with missed assignments/losing containment. Penalties were also a bit of a problem. But both of those are not uncommon for a first game. For sure. Penalties were a concern, and the false starts definitely need to be shored up. There will always been some first game issues though, like you said. I'm just glad we didn't get any personal fouls called against last night. Martin got one towards the end, but it was such a dumb penalty I'm surprised the ground didn't open up and swallow the ref. Martin plays with his hair on fire, that is for sure. He will likely get some penalties out of sheer being there all the time. He was also part of the coach sideline knock down...The Ole coach is tough, brushed it off pretty well, hoping he OK today. Thanarse on coverage was superb, PJ Smith was there also, and Ohanlon had two forced fumbles that we didnt recover.

  24. µTm Scenarios, T7(M) A really fine article it is, Jan Hilgevoord's (“Time in Quantum Mechanics”, Institute for History and Foundations of Science, Utrecht University, The Netherlands, no date given); the best text I've seen in twenty-five years related to operator time. My only frustration with the article is due to Hilgevoord providing no reference for the quotation used from Wolfgang Pauli stating why Pauli rejected the notion of “operator time” (I prefer to give this term with a dash between, i.e., “operator-time”). This referential lacuna was the same with the preprint (“Lyapounov Variable, Entropy and Measurement in Quantum Mechanics”, Misra, B.; I. Prigogine; and M. Courbage) which Prigogine sent me sometime around 1980: explains Pauli's rejection of operator-time, but gives no referral to a Pauli publication. Over all the intervening years, I've never found the involved text by Pauli (from sometime during the 1920s). I find I have nothing to disagree over with Hilgevoord. Drawing a firm distinction between space-time/spacetime itself and the physical-object system in space-time/spacetime (coordinate reference point of space-time/spacetime as distinct from the point-particle occupying the reference point) removes, per Hilgevoord's arguments, both of Pauli's objections: the continuous-versus-discrete issue and the bounded-from-below issue (Prigogine's focus for rejection was the latter). My point to Prigogine was that importance of the bounded-from-below issue is dependent upon conjugation of operator-time to the Hamiltonian; this would not be an issue were operator-time quantized in the twistor format (“The twistor is quantization of temporal curl!”), for operator-time would altogether replace the Hamiltonian (and in the process, time would become a fully-qualified topological operator). Hilgevoord demonstrates that there is no incompatibility between operator-time and either classical mechanics or quantum mechanics plus special relativity. PS...hope this helped you...
