  1. Turner Gill needs to come home and coach the offense. T.O. needs to make that happen. Who is with me?!?>|
  2. The whole week we have been debating the QB situation...Coach Wats and his game plan....Bo Pelini and the need for him to oversee the offense. Now, just hours from the kick at Waco, all that stuff is meaningless. I want us to win. Right now, I don't care about next week or the Big 12 title game, or a bowl game. I just want to beat Baylor. As a die-hard Husker fan, I am tired of this negativity that has been boiling for the last two weeks. A win would be sweet relief... and I could have a great Saturday for once.
  3. I just don't understand this opinion. I am sorry. To this point in the season, the defense has yet to have a bad game. Can we say the same thing about the offense at this point last year.....ummm, no, try San Jose State and Missouri. The O struggled big time in BOTH. And against TT, they possesed the ball for the majority of the game, but we needed a late rally to force OT. Against Iowa State, well, the score was frozen at 21-7 forever and, after a turnover by the O, it was looking like it might get a lot tighter. Like I said, the O struggled last year.
  4. I don't know why everyone is laughing at the BCS bid thing.... It's not like the road to the Big 12 title game is laden with stud teams. And its not like the title game has never seen an upset. Coach Wats and the Buffs lost to Fresno and got blasted by Texas 40-7 or some such thing, then came back to stomp NU and take the decision in a rematch with Texas. Also note the Big 12 title game where Texas beat NU and kept them out of the national title hunt. Strange things happen. Our offense needs to click, but who's to say this weekend won't be the game that it starts to do just that.
  5. Dr Tom has perspective. He is not panicing. And, face it, he just knows more about football than most of us do to be certain.
  6. 42-6 Nebraska wins. A couple early turnovers give Baylor a pair of field goals and a 6-0 lead after one quarter, then, out of the blue, the offense starts to dominate. Rush 275 Pass 285
  7. I saw Lee in a press conference with reporters tonight. He said he was confident, had played his whole life to get to this stage and was not nervous at all. None of the reporters questioned his accuracy and everyone talked about his capability to go in and win one on hostile turf.... Wait... That was Cliff Lee of the Phillies....Nevermind!!
  8. What's funny about this is that Coach Callahan is a better coach that Hawkins. Look at the facts, Coach Callahan came close to losing to Ball State, but he never lost to the likes of Montana State, a team that turned around and lost to a Nebraska team the next week, Chadron State. Yes, Hawk beat Oklahoma and West Virginia, but he also has only been to one bowl game and he is in his fourth year. Hawk doesn't have a winning season in three complete campaigns. Coach Callahan went to the Big 12 title game and took the Huskers to the Cotton and Alamo Bowls. And the kicker....Callahan changed the offense from run first to pass first, thus washing out almost all of the players here because most didn't fit his system. Hawk made no such change. Callahan better than Hawk. Man, that's a sad commentary.
  9. Ron would do a great job. He speaks with authority, is respected and is not wishy-washy. He's the kind of guy who wants to pick some things to do, clearly defined things, and get really, really good at them.
  10. Tech runs a complex pass system....LOL. That was rich....they run a complex run system. Leach.... I just having running the football on the brain. Kind of like when you are single with no prospects... It feels like the whole world has a hottie on their arms.... LOL
  11. Here are Watson's obvious problems..... 1. He establishes no running game. Since the run game helps keep a rush off the QB...Lee is suffering. 2. He is intimidated by defenses and tries to trick them on every play instead or running a set of plays that we are confident in. 3. His sideline screen passes, which as we know tend to be backward laterals, draw defenders, gain little, and risk much. When there isn't a turnover on those plays there is still always the chance of a huge hit on our WRs. 4. The pass is supposed to get defenders away from the box, but since all of Watson's calls come in the 0-5 yard area, defenders just stay where they are at. 5. Lastly, the playbook is so complex that it keeps Nebraska from using all of its players. Mike Leach doesn't have a playbook and they run a complex run system. Players are told their individual roles and the players are then put in combinations by the Texas Tech coaches to affect different strategies. When players know their role COLD they play fast and loose with more confidence. When they are busy processing the defense and thinking about what they need to do, well, the play SLOW That is all
  12. There's always volleyball....and the scenery is not too bad either.
  13. We do need to run the ball, not just to gain yards or to score touchdowns. WE just to establish the phyiscal play again. I really believe that our guys (RBs) fumbled today because they don't know how to carry the rock in traffic. There has been too much edge running and draws and not enough power football to establish that physical attitude that will help us put defenses in bad positions.
  14. At this point, all we can do is keep the faith.
  15. It's not the quarterback, it's the system. And, today, it was the turnovers.

    wow

TO won't allow Bo to fix his coaching staff. Thanks for the no vote of confidence in Dr. Tom. I don't look for changes during the season, and if you are a Husker fan at all, you are hoping that Coach Watson and Coach Pelini can work together to get this offense figured out...with the help of TO... if asked. If no progress is made by season's end, Bo will make changes with the blessing of TO.
  17. It's KSU for now, but they play Oklahoma next. Check KU's schedule. Not good things. ISU plays TAMU. Missouri and Colorado should be an interesting game. If MU wins, they are back in the drivers seat for the trip down to Arlington....IMO. If Nebraska figures out its offense next week, they could easily make it to the Big 12 title game, but do we want that?
  18. Congrats to the Cyclones! They forced turnovers. We did not give them. It must be noted though that the road to the Big 12 title game starts here. May be the best of the worst division win. Oh, by the way, the top prize for that honor is a door stop of a divisional trophy and sound rear kicking down in Arlington. Volunteers? Anyone....anyone.....Buehler....
  19. As the final seconds ran off the clock, I stood in shock...unable to comprehend what I saw. Then I was mad, then sad, then angry......and now, with the process complete, I am back to rational. No one saw this coming and no one could have. Eight turnovers....that's just goofy. The offense had moments of success and moments of struggle last year. And its blowing up this year. I am sure that most of us thought there would be a slight down turn with a new QB, but nothing like this. Bo's defense has done well and is getting better. At least we have that going for us for now. In all matter of Husker football, I have been able to agree with what Bo has done, from kicking players off the team to everything else. When he is wrong, he cops to it and takes full responsibility and I still respect that. I think that he is giving Watson a full chance to turn this thing around. If the season ends badly, there will be changes made. Let's face it, no one said our journey from Big 12 also ran under Callahan to relevant conference and national contender would be without incident. It's how we go forward from here. I think we have a good staff of coaches and a good leader. We will make the right decisions. I am like everyone else. I want to be good now. I also understand that not all goes as planned. Now.....let's move the hell on to Baylor....QUICKLY

    Watson

Bo rakes Cotton over the coals....I don't think Watson wants to be down there around Bo when he is in the heat of the moment. Granted...Bo can yell into the headset, but Watson can flat take off his head set in the booth. He won't be able to get away from Coach Pelini on the sidelines.
  21. I still believe we should have tried to bring in Turner Gill as the OC. I know, he is a head coach and all, but we could have made him Assistant Head Coach and given him total control of the offensive side of the ball. Plus, it would have been insurance in case Bo decided to bolt for Ohio State someday.
  22. Germans for Nebraska..... SWEET
  23. Nebraska will be fired up and focused for this game. The team won't overlook the Cyclones. As far as a blowout...that will be determined by the defense. If the blackshirts create turnovers and the offense starts to click, and I mean even just a little bit, this game will get out of hand very quickly.
