  1. Yeah, it will end up over 60K for sure. If the weather holds, which it might not, but if it does and if it looks like it will be 60 and sunny, then it will be great. Girls will be dressed hot and guys will be looking!
  2. For those that are going for the first time, you might want to know that the second half will probably have a running clock. Keep that in mind if you plan on leaving at half time to get a drink and come back. The second half will just fly by. So when are people getting there? We plan to leave Omaha at 9am. Anyone hitting up any bars first?
  3. Spring game weather good? Its starting to sound like it might snowing!

I couldn't resist. Seriously though... I will cry if it snows.

  4. No idea! I have to pick them up still so I dont know the number, sorry
  5. Sky Box tickets have been obtained!
  6. Last year, I would have read and heard this and thought "Who cares he wont get to play" but this year it seems like the best players will play! There is also a feeling that even if a guy isnt great at say blocking, that he might still get in the game ON PASSING DOWNS because he is a threat!
  7. Simply a superb idea! Oh, I know the bluehairs would shoot it down but it makes perfect sense to me. Thank you! Of course the blue hairs would LOSE it over this idea. I always love the "I just don't see why you need a drink to enjoy a football game" line. Look, just because YOU dont see it, doesnt mean that 50,000 other people dont see it. Embrace the fun and the event instead of hating it. People are going to drink and party regardless so they might as well embrace it and make some cash off of it. Champions Club does it, I know I know, its not on school property, yeah, I know, its 15 feet from the stadium. Heck, you could even have people selling red cups, make that a rule, you need to have your stuff in a red cup at all times. They could even make money off of the sale of red cups.
  8. I think that NU gets so many more people because its an event now. People have decided to turn it into the 8th home game, its a chance to chat, meet girls, have fun, drink, hang with family. I sometimes dont even go to the game but just go to party. The game, especially the 2nd half, is usually pretty boring.
  9. RE: Items 1-4, while I'm 100% with you on these things, not only are we talking about UNL, we're talking about Lincoln, NE. Anything involving beer would NEVER fly. We're pushing it with the "beverages" in red cups on real Game Days. I think Item #5 is a fantastic idea. It's entirely too logical to work, though. I know, I wish you werent right but you are! I know that you can apply for a booze permit, frats do it about once a year when they have a tailgate with dads day and its never a problem, I am sure that UNL could do it too but of course you would have people that made a big big stink about it. If you get a chance, youtube "Ole Miss the Grove tailgating" thats how I wish it was. They embrace it. You can go to the Grove at midnight on Thursday and "claim" your spot and you start partying then. The video is safe for work and shows the very tame side of the grove, but its so cool!
  10. Personally, I think that the Spring Game should be used an experiment. Not so much for the game but for the fans...Things I would like to see tried during the spring game 1. Put it on TV 2. Open up beer stands right across from the campus, kind of like what Champions Club is 3. Open up beer stands in the tailgate area in front of the staduim 4. Let people carry their beers around in cups and have more trash bins 5. Have some "professional" tailgaters set up that are selling their food Its the Spring game, try a few different things, see what happens. Make it an "Event" not just a scrimmage.
  11. I go because of the cost of going to games. It may be my one chance during the year to actually be in the stadium for a day. I can't imagine what it's like to be close and have tickets to each game! I also get to see the folks and maybe my brothers. I'll be in Sec 22 this year. Hey Teacher, Hit me up if you've got any of those tickets laying around too!!!! I cherish any chance to go to a game. No problem
  12. I guess I look at it this way. Things I like include Warm weather Girls Drinking Football Party Atmoshphere Friends Now, all of those things (weather could go either way...then again...so can some girls if you know what I mean) will be there that day. Its a 50 mile drive from Omaha and on the cheap on you can spend about 30 dollars for the day and on the expensive end you can spend about 150 for the day. I plan on leaving Omaha at 9am and leaving Lincoln at around 6. Thats a great day To the poster above how said they have a hard time getting to games because of the cost, PM me. I get lots of free tickets that I never use. I would be happy to toss some your way.
  13. Wow, funguy! I think its more of a fun day, drinking, sun, friends.
  14. I can't wait, I love it. If its nice out the day turns out to be a fantastic time! Last year I think we hit Cliffs for a bit after the game and downed some shark-waters, nice!
  15. So who is going, where are you partying at before the game, where are you sitting and where are you partying after? Right now it looks like Champions Club before the game thanks to some passes I got, sky box tickets if everything goes right (which it never does as most of us know) and then after the game, maybe champions club again for a bit then the bars. What about you guys? Oh yeah, I think its me and 5 friends going.
  16. I agree, he could blow up. The thing that might keep him a bit of a secret is where he plays now. NJ, NY and inner city chicago kids tend to get real late notice, due to the terrible football league (if they are at the public schools) the lack of resources not only at their schools but also to get to camps and usually having coaches that are more worried about getting kids to come to school and get them something to eat then worrying about getting film out. New Orleans Public Schools would be similar as well. Check the kids out of those 4 places, you will see most of the high profile ones are at the private schools and not the public ones. This kids name is already out there early, it helps that he is at St. Joes Prep.
  17. I just can't see how you do not choose the contract, assuming its for that 5-7 million. Not signing would be like holding a winning lotto ticket out the window while driving 80 for 4-5 years. You can ALWAYS go back to school. Heck I started my Masters after being out of school for 10 years. Besides, can't he go pro and IF he didnt do well, come back and play football in college later? Thats what a few guys have done in the past.
  18. Wow, a rational post! Totally agree, look I have coached football for 10 years now, I pick my starting 11 on defense since I am the DC. Guess who I pick, THE BEST PLAYERS that will give the team the BEST CHANCE TO WIN. It is ALWAYS that simple, just like at NU The only time there is a bit of an emotional edge is during a blow out and then there might be a few kids that are hard workers but not that good and they might get more PT then some kids with more talent.
  19. Option routes can and I assume will be simplified. It can and probably will be like this If the DB is off, you run short routes, slants, hooks. If the DB is tight, you run fade, pump and go, deep in Now, it wont be that simple but that is probably the basica idea behind, or at the very least that is how I have seen it at the high school level. It is usually really easy in high school because most defenses do not jump in and out of looks, college, not so much. This is where film breakdown comes into play, something that the Pelinis seem to be masters of, not sure if Beck is but he could be. Then again, like with most of the things I think, I could be totally wrong.
  20. It would not be possible for me to agree anymore! I thought the same exact thing, relaxed, very informative, comfortable. Maybe he really does just feel totally comfortable now. Look, the guy LOVED his coaches and getting rid of a few of them probably really beat him up and it was probably beating him up for a very long time, like before the season even ended, add in the tough losses and the guy was probably being very defensive for a reason. Now, he has his new guys in, there is not that feeling of having to "fire" anyone and he probably feels like he has a huge weight off his back.
  21. Cotton is responsible for the largest position group, its a HUGE responsibility. He also just helped put together one of the best Oline classes, on paper, ever.
  22. I thought that Shatel did editorials and was not a reporter, am I wrong? There is a pretty big difference between the two jobs in the newspaper biz. I know, cause I worked on a school newspaper for like 2 months or so, maybe less. It was probably less.
  23. Watson and BC were similar (from things I heard and then saw at coaches clinics) that they did teach the "what" part but never the "why" It can become confusing.
  24. Wow, I am totally impressed with Beck! He is a great interview, dont you guys think?
  25. This is great for ESPN, now they need to stop hiding things in the "insider" section and charge advertisers more instead. I think most people dont sign up for insider/rivals/scout just because they know they can get the info for free in a few minutes anyway. Open it up, get more ads, get more hits on your page and make more money.
