  1. Well, you get depth by playing guys. It is the only way you build it up. If not, you just have a bunch of seniors that never played. Again, that is on the coaching staff. Heck Cotton builds depth on the Oline, why not at the other spots? I know that Green is the back up back up, but he does have live game experience, its not like he had never played. I dont know, I dont hate wats, I just think he is average. All teams deal with hurt guys.
  2. Well, the defensive coaches did make changes by benching guys that were not getting the job done. I mean that is taking responsibility.
  3. Teams that lose QBs and seem to still move the ball Texas AM How did Washington and Zona do when their QBs went down? i have no idea off the top of my head. Northwestern, they just scored liek 35 points with their backup. Not sure of any others and I dont even know now how those teams did. I was just tossing out some. Didnt the Ducks lose a QB for a game this year?
  4. I think it is ignorant to give so much credit or so much blame on the coaches. The players play the game. The coaches do not have joysticks to get the players to do exactly what they want, when they want, and how they want. I bet if you asked the players none of them would blame the coaches for the losses. Poorly coached teams are just trying to become bowl eligible. Well coached teams are one win away from the Big 12 Championship game. The Huskers are a very well coached football team. The players have to take it upon themselves if they want to turn the corner and be a great team. You are not wrong, I have coached football for 10 years now, at many different levels, and you are not wrong. But, that being said, its the coaches that call the plays and set up the plan.
  5. I know that personally, each game I watch, go to, I never worry about the defense. I know that even if they start off bad that the proper adjustments will (almost) always be made. They always seem one step ahead or at the very least they always seem to have a way to counter somethin. Well, maybe not always but most of the time. With the offense, I feel like that if Watsons first plan doesnt work that the chance of anything good happening are slim to none.
  6. There is a flaw with your argument when using ISU as an example. You have to remember that 14 points came off of two turnovers and they had one scoring drive that started on their side of the 50, they also scored 6 in OT. So there are other things that factor into how ISU scored 30 on us and it is not because their offensive strategy was superior. Well, thats not a flaw, its called the breaks of the game. Its all part of it, saying its a flaw is like saying that you can only count drives that start at your own 20.Its not like ISu got the ball at the one yard line. Look, you can use any game you want, but you see it every week, a good defense, plays a bad offense and the bad offense goes off for a really good game. Why? Why can't Watson do it when he plays a good defense?
  7. Pleaase enlighten us on what could be worse then getting your "stuff" ripped off!!! Having a banging hot girlfriend and then getting your stuff ripped off. That would be like a twilight zone episode!
  8. Here is the thing. If ISU can put up points and yards on a very good defense like NU, then why cant Watson ever put up points and yards on good defenses? See, thats what people want to know. I am more of a Watson hater then I am a fan. But the question remains, you would admit that NU has a good defense, even this year, it is very salty, right? Top 15 or 20 in point allowed? Well then, How come ISU can find away to score 30 points but Watson can't ever seem to do that vs defenses that are not even ranked/rated as high as NU's? There is the issue, watson cant seem to get big plays vs good defenses. Why not? Why can ISU do that, why will CU find away to have 3 or 4 plays of over 20 yards on Friday while watson will probably only have 1 or 2?
  9. that is absolutely disgusting to look at. youve got a corn cob up your backside if you defend watson. bo took one of the worst defenses in the country and has turned them into one of the best in three years. granted, bo is the head coach so he's culpable with the offensive pee fest as well, but he's obviously a defensive minded one, and shawn watson has the exact same resources as bo to get his sh#t together on that side of the ball. its simply not happening. watson needs to go the way of the cosgrove. I'm a little offneded by this, the problem with the offnese has been a lack of exicution not a bad game planing or poor play calling. The players have been in a position to win and either dropped pasess or fumbles have taken away offnese production. Looking at last night even with the poor calls from the officials, injuries, and just all around poor luck. We were in field goal range when T-Mart through is interception, and pretty close when Cody through his, once again Wats put the team in a position to win and it was a lack of exicution that cost the game. Last year the offnese had depth issues at quarter back those issues seem like they will be fixed with next years recruiting class. I think that is part of the issue with Watson. Why throw the ball in that instance, the T-Mart pick, why not pound the ball and kick your FG. Because a touchdown, is worth more points than a field goal. I personaly am glad that he called a play to attmept to get a first down rather than run on third and long (I'm thinking it was third and 6) to conceed a field goal looks like. yes, thanks. But a pick is worth less then 3. Think about it, tight game, low scoring, both D's are playing lights out so why take a gamble? it doesnt make coaching sense.
  10. Yeah, get the quote right. Also, lets face it, Howard played in the NFL, I am sure he can handle himself pretty well. This is the lamest thread ever.
  11. God, if you want to see/read the biggest Watson lovers go read the HI boards and check out HTO's posts and Jaws posts, they are clearly virgins but they want to lose it to Watson.

  13. It was because he wanted to go back in right away.
  14. Look, I know there are Watson lovers here, or BCers as they are usually called and of course there are Watson haters here too. Just like every board, this board is not as bad as HI, where the amount of virgins is staggering and the love for Watson is almost at a homo-erotic level by about two or three posters, but the fact remains the same. When Watson goes up against above average defenses, he tends to look average at best. Its really just fact. I know some people will point out the Arizona game and there is no denying that He called a very good game but look at other game vs top 50 defenses. He is just, at best, an average OC. Last night was pretty much like watching two BC's go at it, BC was amazing at getting out schemed by good defenses, so is Watson and so is Sherman. The only thing that Sherman did better was realize that he is average at calling plays so he just started to hand the ball off. Watson seems to have a hard time figuring out that he is average and it hurts him. For instance, when Green was in at QB, the only three types of plays they should run are deep passes, very deep, vs the man-man coverage, let your wide outs try to make a play or maybe get a call (or maybe not), the second would be hand offs and the third would be QB draws, right up the middle, where he doesnt have to move side to side because lord knows he is slow but he is a huge kid and could gain yards going forward.
  15. Newearth, you have gone into a game alone? Thats hardcore man!! You are a big time fan! I mean that, I am not trying to come off as being sarcastic. I do consider tailgating as part of the partying. I think lots of people, like RedBeerMan said, talegate, go to the game, leave at halftime, talegate and then maybe go back to the game or just stand around and drink.
  16. Game day in Lincoln is a day long event. The champions club is very cool. Tailgating for hours before and after the game. Talking to friends. Talking football. Watching other games on TV. A little drinking (or alot of drinking on occasion). I always go to the game but always back out to the club at halftime. Don't always go back to the game. Some games I could just sit out at the tailgate and watch the game. We always have several people wo don't go in. Saturday there were people trying to give away tickets when I went into the game. I would not have to go into the game to have a realy fun day as long as I can see the game on TV. Going back to the CC at half time is sweet! Heck, we have probably been partying right next to each other in CC and didnt even know it. Of course, if you heard me making fun of the BRBers then you could have figured out who I was! Lets look at this weekend for example. 7pm start time, that means be at the bars in Omaha by 4ish and get home around 2am. Its going to be a fantastic day!! I only hope that I can "focus" long enough to help the team out!
  17. Nuance, you nailed it. You still have fun, you still do your partying and in the end, its a great time! by the way, 7 shots of tequila, gross!!! At UNL back when I was there (yes in my frat too, dont hate me) I got drunk off of Albertsons store brand tequlia, wow, that was some gross stuff. I think I figured out why that big bottle cost 7.98
  18. Some comedian once said to women, "You know how you are when you're really horny? That's how guys are when they're not even thinking about it." So drunk or not, that's just the way we are. I think there's some gray area to be found there. I doubt you, Landlord and/or Newearth are going to games by yourselves. I'm sure at some time you've gone with friend/Parent/child/sibling/loved one/whatever, and you hung out before the game, talked about the game, ate some food, whatever. You did that at your house or a friend's, or at a tailgate. For most the people who go to games, that's what we do. The folks who do keg stands or half a dozen shots before a game are rare, as are those who have humongous tailgates with the giant smoker and five briskets smoking all day. Most people hit a bar or a restaurant, walk around the stadium, then go to the game and their focus is on the game, not the trappings around it. Those trappings are just for fun, like the parsley garnish on your pasta at Vincenzo's. The pasta is the focus. Not once today have I stated that I thought men were or weren't horny at certain times. All I said was that when they're drunk, a lot of guys act like jerks. Whether or not they can help it isn't the issue, I just don't like to be around it and that's why I don't like the student section because..well, for obvious reasons. Also, I'd like to point out that I said it's fun to go with friends and family. I'm not saying I don't enjoy talking to my friends at games, but that's not the main reason I go. The main reason is the game-or as you call it, the pasta. But there's a difference between hanging out with my family or boyfriend and "meeting girls" or "socializing". I keep to myself at games. If people wanna have a few drinks, that's fine. I'm not stopping them. But as I said, it's not my thing. The OP's question was whether or not people went to the game to party, and in my case that's a resounding "no". Well, if you are looking to meet a dude at a game you are doing a good job, because most guys love a girl that ignores them. there is something hot about a challenge!!! Guy: "Hi, Cina, you look cute" Cina: "Please don't talk to me, I am worried about what NU will do if the DE's play a feather technique on the zone read" Guy: Turns to his friends "She wants my junk, I can tell"
  19. I can totally understand the posters who say they go to campus for the game and only the game. Now this is slightly off the topic of the amazing thread that I started but still in the same arena, I can't stand when posters or fans are like "I have to focus on this weeks game" or something like that. Look, if you are lucky enough to be on campus for a game, the team doesnt really need your focus. Go, have fun, party*, watch the game, cheer, party* more, talk to people. Thats what its all about. I just finished my 10 season of coaching football, I dont really care to talk about the nuances of a certain play or anything like that, I just want to chill, party*, watch some football and relax. *this means whatever you consider partying to be! In the end, its about having fun. I was at the Texas game, the game sucked as we all know but it was still a great time drinking at Champions Club, then drinking at the bars.
  20. haha, I am starting to think that you are a blue-hair trapped in a college girls body too! News flash, guys are always horny, doesnt matter if they are drunk. What is your style??
  21. Good point. To me, partying means that I am there to drink, chat with my friends, meet girls and watch the game. I am not there to JUST watch the game.
  22. I thought since this got brought up in another thread that we could see why people go to Husker games. Personally I go to party, the atmosphere is usually great, champions club is a blast, talegating is usually average to above average and of course, if its warmer out its great to bring girls with and meet new ones too! I don't usually even go into the game, what about you guys/girls?
  23. That is kind of funny! No, not all girls are that way, in fact, very few are that way. But most, if not all, are at the game to talegate and party, just like me and most of the guys. Its supposed to be a fun time.
  24. I don't want to continue the derailment of this thread, so I'll just say this: Believe me, I understand that guys are hard-wired that way and they're gonna do it. That's why I offered up the cheerleader solution I just felt that it needed pointing out that some of us are more inclined to say "C'mon Niles, catch the d*mn ball!" than to say "Like, is Taylor Martinez a blackshirt? I am sooo wasted. What are you doing later?" I'm not one to get pissed when men objectify women because I know it happens. But to say all girls see the game as a "social event" is something I gotta speak up about. Some of us do know what we're talking about..not all, but some </rant> Just from my experience of partying in Lincoln for lots of games or at the bars either in lincoln or Omaha is that 99% of the girls make it a social event. There is a reason that the girls that go to party at the games or at the bars are dressed up in a cute way. If you wanted to we could make another thread about it, but out of every 10 girls at a T-gate or at the bars during a Husker game, how many do you think are actually into the game? 1, maybe 2? I am not trying to make you mad, I like it that way. I like that girls go out to party for the games and want to look hot. But you can't deny that its a social event, hell its a social even for most of the guys! Its basically a great excuse to drink, party, eat and meet girls each Saturday for about 10 hours. The girls that are totally into the game, team, stats and so on, are usually the ones that most of us guys dont even see! I love the Skers but my number one reason for going down to T-gate is for the atmosphere, the drinking, the joking around with my friends and metting people. If I just cared about the game, I would show up 15 minutes before kickoff, sit down, watch and leave right after.
  25. The student section, in the mid-late 90's, was great and just like back then it was all frat and sorority "idiots." Come on man, who do you think makes the most noise at the games? Its the drunk frat guys! As far as the girls go, lets face it, they are their usually because its a social event for them. I don't want to sit by guys that think they know everything about football. I want to sit by guys that are there to have fun, scream, complain, argue about calls and clap. The only girls I want to see there are hot ones that are out to have a good time.
