  1. I have to think that if Carnes comes for a visit and sees all the T-Fraiz stuff around the stadium that he would be excited to come to NU.
  2. That made me laugh EZ-E Its not like this Loften kid is some hayseed from western NE who has always dreamed of playing for NU and is just waiting by his phone for Bo to call. Some people seem to think that all NU has to do is pick up the phone! I have heard that he has grade issues as well but depending on what high school he goes to (public vs private) there are many things that can be done to help him out, especially with a semester of school left. That being said, I have no idea if they are interested in each other.
  3. You want to know what is embarrassing? It is Husker fans that think that ALL OTHER FANS should make posts like this "Well guys let's face it, The University of Nebraska at Lincoln has a better tradtition, better fan base and the smartest fans in the nation, I know they don't get a lot of pub on ESPN but that is just because ESPN is out to get them and only wants to show Tim Tebow and not Suh. I have a feeling that if our team plays its hardest and is totally respoectful on each play and if our fans constantly pat the NU fans on the back and tell them how great NU is and how great the NU staff is, well I think that we might be able to keep in close but in the end we will still lose by four TD's. " Come on guys, get over yourselves. The worst part is when people say they were at the game and use these terrible examples to show why the other teams fans were classess or stupid. "They told us they were the read big red" Oh no, gosh, What a bunch of jerks! Or my favorite "Yeah, I was sitting next to one of their fans and told them that Suh was great but Crick was great too and their fan said they were not sure they knew who Crick was , WOW, some really smart fans you got there Zona" What? Remember when it was announced that NU was play Zona and all the posts were about how we didnt know anyone on the Zona team. I will go read other boards at times and its so lame when Husker fans go there and get all mad because their fans are supporting their team.
  4. Hey post some of the quotes from tigerboard if you see any funny/crazy ones, i love reading them but I hate trying to navigate that site!
  5. Okay if you are watching the game right now, Gabbert just took a dumb sack and then his next pass went of his WR's foot, bounced up and was picked off. Things like that just happen to kids that dont have "it".
  6. I remember hearing the story from Ron Brown about how Brook Berringer came from a crappy HS football team, but he had that untapped talent about him. It was like if you gave him the tools, you knew he'd reach his potential. Sure enough, the handful of games that we were fortunate enough to see him play in at NU, he came through like a champ. RIP Brook I had never heard that story but like I said, some kids just want to win more then others or have some kind of vibe about them.
  7. Another thing I have noticed is that Bo and his staff seem to go after high school players that play at very established programs that are known for their tradition of winning and hard work. Now, the kids from those places might not have crazy stats and might only be a 3 star kid but you better beleive that they understand what it takes to be a winner.
  8. I have said this before, first let me say that I have coached football for 10 years now so I have been around a lot of football players and sent a handful to D1 schools, two that play for the Skers right now. Gabbert has all the tools but the kid just doesnt have "it" he is just not a winner, I would venture to guess that he did not win to much in high school either and I would guess people made excuses for him like "he played on a crappy team" and stuff like that. Some kids have all the tools and look the part and get great stats but they just dont get the wins. I can't explain it any better then that. Please dont think I am trying to come off as some know-it-all a-hole, its just what I have seen from my coaching experience.
  9. Is it just me or do Rockhurst kids not really have an allegience to any single college? They seem to be very open to Illinois, Mizzo, KU, NU, OU.
  10. I see what you are saying but I don’t buy it that a coach can’t reach a certain level and not get any better. Just like guys can get better or worse they can also stay right where they are. It happens in every single aspect of life so why should coaching be immune to that? Barney’s Big 12 history showed us that you could expect 17-24 PPG and 300-350 YPG. If those types of offensive numbers are acceptable then nobody should be calling for Watson’s head because the stats from this year fall right in those categories (24 PPG 315 YPG). Yep, of course they can stay the same. They might have one good year (Watson last season) and one bad year (Like watson this year) but there is a very good chance they will stay the same, like Watson I think has mostly been in the 50-60 rank, I think, not sure about that. So, if Cottons numbers are super close to Watsons numbers, why do some people think Watson is a coaching super mind and Cotton in a dork? See, I know why, its the Cant-coach-a-han lovers that build up Watson and tear down Cotton but really, it seems like they are just about the same. I am not saying you are a Cant-coach-a-han lover, I am just saying those are the people that tear down Cotton and build up Watson. I happen to think they are both about average.
  11. So if you really believe this then shouldn’t you call Billy C by his real name instead of “Can’t-Coach-A-Han”? Since he probably wasn’t born a good Head Coach but he can get better over time. You know since he probably isn’t stuck in his one level of coaching forever and he has also proven through his years in the NFL that he can coach the OL and he is a pretty good OC. FWIW: I was a Cotton basher in 2003 when he was hired because Solich could have hired someone a lot better but by hiring Cotton he could still have his hand all over the offensive play calling even though he supposedly stepped down from that role. So technically that was before Billy C was ever hired so that doesn’t stick. No, it shouldnt mean that. Cant-coach-a-han started off good, went to a super bowl, then kept getting worse and worse. See, he started at one level, good, and changed and got sh**ty. Just like all coaches can change, he just went from good to sh**ty. So, do you see what I mean now?
  12. I know there is a lot of Cotton haters, espeically from the old Cant-coach-a-han supporters, but to think that Cotton could not have gotten better and better as an OC is crazy. That being said, he could have gotten worse too, maybe as bad as Watson was this year. I mean, basically what you are saying then is that you are born a good OC and you can never get better, you are stuck at one level of coaching forever. That doesnt make sense. Now, I am not a Cotton fan or Cotton hater but some of those "oh my gosh we would have Cotton as the OC'' posts make no sense to me. Back on topic, having Cant-coach-a-han here as HC has really made me appreciate Husker football again. He brought the team to such a low that the losses stopped hurting and started to make me laugh. Now, they hurt again because Pelini knows what he is doing and has put the team back on track.
  13. Some of you guys are more up to date on Husker history, have they ever had a recruit or even a player from Delaware?
  14. Thanks for the info. Did I read that right, he is from Delaware?
  15. for someone so good at research, i'm shocked that you still haven't found a single example to support your claim that the "bo doctrine" is either new or temporary. It is so temporary I would say it is likely no longer in effect. We'll see as time goes by. This isn't the last time a kid is going to decide to check out another school after an oral committment. After blowing steam in the tirade the "Bo Doctrine" likely changed to a "flexible" policy quicker than Napalitano went from saying "Everything worked just like it should" to "That ain't the way it's sposed to work, somebody screwed up". The love for BC is still strong in you, it runs hot in your veins. You have not let it pass out of your body yet, when it does your posts will be read with more love. You were burnt by your support for BC and now how to take it out on Bo because he is not doing things the BC way. Once you can admit that, you will feel better. Telling kids that you are either all in or dont committ yet is exactly HOW you get the kids you want. Do you really not see how that makes sense? Do you think other schools say "please, give us your verbal but go check out all the other schools you can still" Nooooooooo, they all say "when you are ready, give us your word but dont do it until you are ready and when you do, we expect you to stick with us"
  16. Everytime I read one of your posts it reminds me of the good old days on the bigredboard.
  17. Most kids, not all, but most kids that attend private/catholic schools are going to be eligble to play. Most of those schools have rigid rules about who can play in high school and really push them to make sure that they get the grades they need for college.
  18. I personally feel that Bo and his staff have just gotten better and better with recruiting and one thing I notice now is that they seem to be the first team to offer kids which is a HUGE help in landing the kid. What staffs do you guys feel are very good at being the first to offer a kid, before he is "discovered" so to speak by Rivals.
  19. Shannahan to UF, in my opion, would be a terrible move. I wonder if UF would be a bit gun shy about hiring a current asst after the Zook mess. I could see Petrino or Muschamp getting it though.
  20. Mature kid, his mother must be an amazing woman like most of our mothers have been to us. Its weird, I have no ties to this kid at all, I have never met him, I have never seen him play and I have never met anyone in his family. Yet I really want to root for him and I want him to do well, no matter where he goes. I bet he makes his mother very proud and I bet his brothers look up to him. I have a feeling that his teachers enjoy having him in class and are excited to see what he does in life. Where ever he goes, good luck to him and congrats to him and his mother for the way she raised him. I think that no matter where he goes, he will find out that Husker fans will be cheering for him.
  21. I don't believe Pinkle would do such a thing and actually let that getout into the public. Sounds like another rumor over the net, but who knows. If in fact either of these kids actually did this on their own it's pretty slimey as well, and i'd definitely never put it past that douchebag Gabbert Jr. I know that Quincy was contacted by these two and talked to. Whether or not it was Pinkle that orchestraited it we will probably never know for sure. Talk about a stretch. Really???? You want people to believe that a coach had 2 players, only one of which is going to his program, call another player, that he has NO interest in, and have the 2 players tell that player to leave the school he is going to? I have heard some wacked out things from Husker fans over the past weeks, but this takes the cake. Forget that Pinkel sits on NCAA rules and ethics commitees. Forget that no matter what you or NE fans think about him, he is highly respected among his peers in the college coaching ranks. Forget about the fact that there is no proof or foundation for your story. But just repeat it to yourself and see how much sense it makes... If Carter did contact Quincy, did you ever think that he did that on his own. That he is obviously upset at NE and the way things went. He is mad about something. That would explain his decommitment and trash talk after the fact. There is not a puppet master behind these kids. Personally, I highly doubt Pinkel would be behind something like this but i don't see anyway to prove that. And i honestly have a hard time being very critical of people who do think this way. On two separate occasions now former NU committs have switched to MU and then proceeded to contact remaining NU committs to sway them away. McDonald makes the 6th member of MU's class to have decommitted from a previous school. There's begining to be a history of this staff getting into the ears of other schools commits. I tend to think trying to get others to decommit just for spite, as described here, is a bit of a stretch but at some point one has to wonder if MU's staff is really as squeaky clean as you like to think. I'm still a little perplexed by MU taking Tyler since they already have a very good QB prospect in this class. There's a good chance Tyler will be nothing more than a bench warmer behind Franklin and his brother, so why take him? It almost seems like it was just to screw over NU. As far as commits switching MU was in on every one of those kids and in nearly every case was in the final 2 or 3. If you were a kid that picked one over the other and the one you pick turns out to sucks, fires nearly every assitant coach and appears to be ready to go through a coaching change next year (Ill.) or if you picked one that appears to have totally switched their offense from a balanced throwing attack to one that runs 3/4th of the time and only throws when they have to now. I would bet that you would reconsider your decision. Truth is it only seems funny to you because your team is losing more recruits than they should. If that is due to a change in styles or a lack of good recruiters i cant say for sure. But you NEVER stop going after kids until they tell you to. Chase Rome was commited to OSU, I dont see anybody here thinking up elaborate schemes that have SUH calling Rome to get him and others on board. Its just silly. IF your kids were HARD on for NU they would have said no thank you to ANY coach that called. On that same note, players ALWAYS call other players. If you think Rome wasnt calling the other top kids in MO your crazy. You guys always talk about "maybe he will bring in a friend/teammate/cousin". Its pretty hypocritical to get upset or act like 'something' is up when it happens to your team. As far as Gabbert goes. If you are MU you want as much talent as you can get. Somebody is not going to play. maybe its him, maybe not. But given the facts that you all state about him, he must really have rather gone to MU than NE if he still commited given those obsticles. And by the way, If it was to screw over NU, he would have waited till signing day. Its NOT a screw job. If you want to blame somebody blame your coaches for either bringing in a lack of talent of the Offensive side of the ball or not being good enough to coach them up. That is what cost you your spread QB and spread WR. The fact that your offense is so putrid that you had to resort to a style that is so basic that it appeals to barely any talented offensive players. And after switching you still are awful. Blame them, becuase that is the only reason you are not in a BSC bowl or possibly even playing for a NC. They are the reason you cant get playmakers to commit or stay commited. Blame those guys instead of trying to make up stories and blame other conference coachs who you think spend all their time conspiring against you. Its this simple, with an offense that isnt just god awful, Nebraska is probably a big 12 champ and playing for a NC. Without your amazing D you are a 4 win team. Take Bo's advice on your leaving players. "the thumb always points back to you" There is a difference between calling players and talking about schools and calling players and spewing trash and lies because you are hurt and mad. Get it figured out, you have to be smarter then that, right? You want to know what CC is saying about Mizzo right now, PM me, I will let you know. Look, I know its hard rooting for a second or third tier team, we had to do it when BC was here. I know what you are going through, you have a QB that is going to the NFL but that isnt a winner, you know it and you know that he can't ever win over 9 games in a season. It is not Pinkles fault, its Gabberts fault, some kids are winners, some kids arent. you are going to have to put up with gaudy stats next year and 5 losses. It is a terrible feeling but some guys just arent winners. Right now, you are thinking of QB's in college that put up great stats and dont win, the list is very long isnt? Add one more to it. turned away another player from this class that is better than me and they would take them before me if there was an opening. And what in the world do you think people say when they call trying to swing other players. "Um...hello other OSU recruits. I know your school is great, but NE has an equally great school." "Hello fellow highly rated MO HS football players, I know that MU is wonderful, but NE is pretty neat too" What lies are you talking about??? You seem to know what these kids were talking about. You must really be 'in the know' Because if they were talking trash on the offense, sorry but you have to be smarter than that to believe that is a lie. I guess you guys have that 'winner' green. YOU are the type of fan that makes other teams fans think that Husker fans are freaking crazy. You were probably leading the gabbert slobber parade when he committed and now he sucks. But your QB who cant learn more than 20 or 30 plays and still cant execute those plays any better than you or i could is going to be the greatest thing ever. He didnt run or throw on anybody that wants in the freaking sunbelt. What makes you think he will do ANYTHING?? Oh, because you are blindly faithful to what you feel is the greatest team ever and even if EVERYTHING i said in the previous post was ABSOLUTELY true, you would have to come with some random attack of my team because your so damn insecure about your team that you cant hear any criticisms without freaking out. Only you would smack talk a 9 nine season when you praise your team for the same. I would like to hear why you think NE will be so great when they return the worse offense in the conference and lose the best D player that college football has seen in probably 20+ years, the only good LB you have, and both of your safeties. But thats probably that blind faith thing. IF there is something i have learned from being the fan of a "second or third tier team" it is that I am a realist. I hope to GOD your not really a teacher. I didnt say that Lee was a winner. I am a teacher and I have coached for a very long time and I know lots of coaches and we talk a lot about recruiting and our players. We are at camps together and dinners together and S&C conferences together. I dont think NU will be a all that good next year, I think they will be kind of how they were this year, i think they will struggle in almost every game especially in conference.. You seem to really want to infer a lot from my post, thats fine. But you are wrong. I never praised "my team" for this 9 win season, check my posts if you want. You want so bad to discredit what I said but you cant, you are trying to discredit things I didnt say though, you are doing a good job with that. Again, I dont mean to sound like I am attacking you, but you if you want info, please PM me. Teacher, I went too far with that last line. I deleted it, but obviously not before you replied. I apologize. I have been going through a pretty rough patch and let it carry out and on to you and that is not only not fair its pretty damn disrespectful. Again I am sorry. I dont really care to much what carter supposedly said. You are free to send it to me. But I am pretty sure it will do nothing for my mood. I know enough about kids that spew on one school that spurned them to believe thats probably the case again. I do know that MU told him if he wanted a spot he needed to take it before last weekend. I also know that he is behind at least Terry if there is an open spot. I also know that he called MU on Sunday asking if they still had an opening and was told no. SO from that I can gather the general flavor of what he may have said. Again, I apologize for a disrespectful and irresponsible comment Oh shoot, you have nothing to apologize for, dont worry about it at all! Its no big deal. You are right about CC and the stuff he said about Mizzo.
