  1. I'm not certain but I think it might be Kieth Williams, the OG from the Callahan years. It certainly looks like him but I haven't heard if he has returned in some kind of official capacity.
  2. Wow he doesn't even look like he has to try. Man amongst boys.
  3. Does anyone know how his visit went? I really would like to see us land another stud DE. I think he fits the bill.
  4. I don't know if it is pump up music but I love it. I would honestly vote for that for the tunnel walk. Something simple but intense. It would be sweet to get the whole stadium clapping to that. Plus I know the players would love the beat.
  5. No joke. I can't even express how pumped I am about this d line class. Really the last 3 have been great. If we can add one more stud end then I would give this class an A plus. Neal is going to to be the real deal as well as the Davis twins. Wish Rector would have come our way, but I know the coaches will do their thing.
  6. Welcome aboard Nekyle! This kid is an absolute steal. From his film it looks like he could play about any position on the field minus the line and dominate. This is the kind of receiver we have been needing. His recruitment is going to blow up during his senior year. I think we keep this one though. Great job by the coaches!
  7. He really wasn't on here? Damn. Yeah, someone messed up... PS - Running total: We've lost 3 of our top 13 players (according to the OWH) a week into camp. Yeah, I thought about that as well. It would probably be 4 of the top 15 or so if we included Moss. Pretty brutal. This is the first year in many I think we have enough depth to overcome those kinds of losses.
  8. Anyone notice there was no Greg McMullen on here. I would say that must be a major oversight. I'm thinking he should have been in about the 10 - 15 spot.
  9. He doesn't even have any of his notoriously dry, yet hilarious anecdotes in this interview but it was still amazing. I just love the man. He still has a mind like a steel trap. The college football world doesn't even realize how lucky they are to have this man on the first play-off sub committee. He is truly my hero. I quit my job when my daughter, who just turned 3, was born because my wife made way more money and we wanted to raise her at home. Looking to work days again so hopefully one of these positions will come through and I can do this.
  10. Dude is a beast and wears number 44! Me likey.
  11. Pretty amazing accomplishments playing for a franchise such as the Packers. Congrats Ahman! Representing Nebraska well!
  12. When I say elite I mean projection wise, not where they end up. I thought Enunwa was a steal at the time we got him, but he was not receiving the kind of offers he should have. I'm talking about not having to always find that under the radar guy. I think eventually to become one of the elite teams you have to be able to go head to head with some of the big boys and win, and we just haven't been able to do that at the wide receiver positon. As far as the "Gimme a break with that" part, I didn't blame TA. I said QB situation for a reason. Martinez hurt, TA thrust in a starting role as a RS Fresh. I know he is a first year QB. I just stated I am worried that their will be effects from the mounting statistics on our wide receiver usage. We have landed at least a few very highly regarded players at every position except for WR during Pelini's Tenure. There is a reason for that. Say what you will, I have no doubt coaches make sure to point out our receiving stats in a tight recruiting battle. I am, however, not going to argue that Stringfellow wasn't shown some extra incentives at ole' Mi$$, but that doesn't mean they didn't use some negative recruiting as well.
  13. I have no idea how this conclusion comes from anything zoogies and/or I wrote. For my part, of course we should continue to recruit top WRs. But we MUST recruit QBs that can effectively deliver them the ball, then utilize those WRs enough to justify them returning here. What I'm saying is, we know we have a hell of a stable of RBs. Do we need a QB that can run (as zoogies points out, the philosophy is make them cover 11/11), or do we need an O Line that can block like hell, and a QB who can deliver strikes downfield? I'm thinking that with guys like we have at WR, a QB's running ability is not a priority, especially when you have a potential Heisman candidate at RB right now. We were 95th in the country in Passing Offense last year, 88th the year before that, 104th the year before that, 113th the year before that. We have the WRs to improve on that dramatically. Do we have the arm in that group of QBs? If so, is it Armstrong? That's all I'm asking. If it is Tommy Armstrong, and he can run the ground game effectively, too, then great! we've hit the jackpot. If Tommy is just OK in the passing game, say around 50% completion and 3:1 TD/INT ratio, we're wasting the talent we have at the wideout positions. The only reason we wouldn't be able to utilize them all is if our QB can't pass well enough to keep a healthy passing game. If we can't, those WRs are wasted. That's all I'm saying. And that's not a denunciation of Tommy, it's a commentary on the kind of QB we're recruiting and playing under this regime. I'd take a healthy Taylor Martinez back for another four years in a heartbeat, but the reality is that, even with his better-than-Nebraska-normal passing percentage, we still put up those numbers listed above throughout his career. And we had some pretty good WRs in that era. That's one of the things that worries me. I think that QE on any other team is a first or second round draft pick this year. He had balls thrown behind him and low and god knows where else all year long and he still had a great year. The guy is a beast at 225 and yet ran a 4.45 40 at the combine. I think Bell's year was greatly affected by our QB situation as well. It is only a matter of time before WRs have enough evidence in front of them to say "I'm not taking my chances in that offense". To be honest I think that is why we have struggled recruiting elite WRs here currently, but I think the caliber of WR that we will be able to recruit is going to keep dropping if we don't show that we will utilize them. I really think that Ole Miss probably showed Stringfellow some of those stats and they got his attention. No proof, but that's what I'd do if I was recruiting him.
  14. Huskers.com has updated the roster. There are quite a few new numbers assigned to players but I thought I would just list some notable weight gains or losses that are listed. I look at the roster quite often so I am pretty sure the previous weights I listed are correct but I might be mistaken on some. Nathan Gerry is actually down 5 lbs. suprisingly - listed at 205 Terrell Newby - 200 (was at 190) Marcus Newby - 220 (was 210 or 215) Tanner Farmer - 310 (had dropped to 270? for wrestling) DJ Foster - 310 (was listed at 315 before I think) Givens Price - 310 (was 300) Zach Sterup - 320 (was 310 or 315) Tommy Armstrong - 220 (was 210 or 215) Johnny Stanton - 230 (was 220 or 225) Ben Cotton - 250 (was 240) Alonzo Moore - 195 (was 185) Good to see the weight training and conditioning paying off.
  15. link to the rest of the article.... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/pelini-hopes-new--on--drills-lead-to-stronger/article_9845863c-af78-5963-8d49-eaf11f293809.html This article that came out in the spring addresses some of the concerns, but others... not so much. Reading this somewhat gives me hope for punt returns improving dramatically this year, but on the other hand it really makes me wonder what the hell we've been doing all this time. Were we really not teaching our guys any technique during all this time? I kind of have a feeling Pelini was giving Els room to fix it and not micro-manage, but he finally decided enough was enough. As far as Bo admitting to being too cautious - I would sure feel a hell of a lot better if he said that he intends to be less cautious in the future, but he doesn't. Here's to hoping!
  16. I remember Suh describing the talks he had with Jason Peter between his Soph. and Junior year. Suh said that JP told him that he has to be mean, when a guy is walking down the street don't move, knock the guy over if he doesn't get out of your way, knock the guys arm off of the arm rest in the movie theatre who is sitting next to you, and that kind of stuff. I remember that I kind of rolled my eyes reading that article knowing the way JP was on the air as a radio guy and how everything was about what they did in the 90's. After I saw the edge and the attitude that Suh brought that next year I couldn't help but wonder if maybe JP lit a fire under Suh. All that to say, if a former player can have that type of impact on our current guys, which is definitely possible, then get those guys in here as ofter as possible.
  17. Boaz is a safety? For some reason I thought he was a CB. Was he not recruited as a CB? Since Pelini has been here it is not unusual for him to continue to work dbs at different spots until they know what they have. You can see it in the way guys are listed on the roster. The bulk of underclassmen are generally listed as db and change after a couple years to either S or CB. Very few frosh come in and are listed specifically at one spot or another.
  18. I have a feeling as time goes on and we close in on our full share of B1G revenue we will be allocating an increasing amount of that revenue toward recruiting.
  19. Wow you can tell that Vincent Valentine is taking this offseason seriously. He has definitely re-distributed some weight since the end of year already. You can tell alot of guys are working hard.
  20. I love driving by the stadium and seeing the lights on and the Huskervision screens showing highlights in the dead of winter. The whole thing is so quiet but so surreal. It gives me chills every time. I hope these recruits feel it too.
  21. Wow this kids film is unreal. I will be ecstatic if he chooses us. Go away Alabama and Auburn.
  22. I applaud Fisher for his courage on Twitter. I wonder what his wife thinks about that?
  23. This kid is in the mold of Johnny Rodgers or Reggie Bush. Just one of those guys that can change direction and juke without slowing down. And FAST! This kid is going to be a superstar somewhere.
  24. Wow. This kid is the real deal. How he has stayed hidden this long is a mystery to me, but he is going to blow up after our offer, per usual. I almost don't want him to consider us because I know some southern team is going to come swooping in the last couple of days.
