  1. Very True Nameless, But it is also possible we are playing the South Champion. Some early in the year felt they would challenge Texas. Most felt they or A&M were at least second in the south. We need to win this game, and hope Tech moves through the rest of their schedule undefeated and meet them again in the CCG. In my mind it would be the only way we could get to a BCS game. If Texas wins, I think we will have more problems with them than Tech. But that is not a requirement on my side for this team to be successful. The only other one on the schedule that could affect us is Wake Forest, I still think they end up 3rd in the conference at worst. That would give some credibility to our schedule.
  2. If you read the whole article you will see he does say some nice things about Nebraska. On the Tommy Lee thing they had just met and talked for awhile. Tommy may have even been around when this interview was going on. He may have been harrassing Tommy for not going to Tech. I do not know any of this to be fact but it has been mentioned that it was about the same time. He said nothing that is not true. We like our team. We do not like their team, until they are beaten. I hear the boos when the opposing team takes the field. Just being honest is not an attack on our fans. Some need to develop a thicker skin it seems to me.
  3. I think BC nailed it last year. The most complete back he has ever coached. I will go one further, he is the most complete back I have seen at Nebraska, although some were never given the opportunity he was given. But he is the idea behind the Hiesman trophy. He is what every colleg player should be. He is what I think a Nebraska player should be. He makes me smile every time I see him play. As stated before he is my all time favorite Nebraska player and representative of what Nebraska is. He promotes this program like no other player ever has. He is the real deal.
  4. Victories over the teams you mention will mean absolutely nothing. They will all be 2nd and 3rd tier bowl level teams. So there is absolutely no importance to them. We need to concentrate on the job at hand and not worry about things down the road. A loss to anyone on our schedule will drop us so far down the rankings we would need a phone to reach the top. One game at a time. For this team to be where it needs to be with the schedule we need to be undefeated at the end or we will be in San Diego at best. There will be no BCS game for this team no matter the results on our schedule IMO.
  5. Sure hope the team is not showing the lunacy of the fans. We have one game and only one game that is important. Tech, nothing should be on anyone elses mind. This is adding preasure to a team that does not need it. We have not beaten anyone that matters, in honesty we do not play anyone that matters on our schedule. Lets win them one at a time and then at the end talk about woulda coulda and shoulda been. 4-0!! Nothing more nothing less.
  6. My only coment would be we saw Barret really play as a senior. I think McKeon is better as sophmore than Barret was. Bo is very close too. I think we are looking at two All American LB's in the very near future, barring injury. What a problem to have. I look for both of them to be blowing the short routes and putting a hurting on Henderson. If that happens we win this game going away.
  7. schestev, Welcome back. Finally dug out from under that rock I see. Well we have already surpassed your excellent prediction of 3 wins. Now you have doubled it. Maybe you are seeing the light, did Frank bend over?

    CONGDON

Some of our best have missed field goals as freshman. He has not cost us a game and is as Rawhide said, a FRESHMAN. Not a redshirt Freshman. Give the kid a chance, he is doing a good job and will only get better.
  9. May have forgotten an s, I would guess.
  10. 26 of 26 in the red zone does not seem like they will have problems to me. The key is the offense must put points on the board. The defense will not be able to hold this offense. They will get their points. We need to slow down Hodges, with a lot of hits. If he gets into a rythem and we can not handle their 3 step drop it will be long game. I have hopes the LB play will be what it has been. That will help on the short over the middle stuff they like. We are terribly overmatched in the secondary. Hands up and some blitzs. If we go 3 man rush I think we lose and quickly. We will see if Coz learned from last year. I think he has. This is going to be a very good game. Tech has a lot of talent, but very little experience in competition this year. That could be a major advantage for us. I think we win this game but it will be another heart attack waiting to happen if we do.
  11. Nameless, I am beginning to see that as a possiblity. The defense is for real. But to win against Tech we will need the offense to give the defense a rest. I attended the game at Lubbock last year. Actually spent 5 days there. I hope our fans treat their fans with the respect that I received there last year. I am an old Nebraska fan, and I see alot of Nebraska in the Texas Tech bunch. No respect from the Media and very little in state respect. They want to win, but do not demand it. This is a good program with very good fans. If we have to lose a game I would rather it be this one than any other. They remind me a lot of when I attended games when Devaney walked the sidelines. Great people. You will enjoy them I would bet if you are anywhere near them.
  12. From what I am hearing they are more worried about Cory Ross than anything. They expect us to run it up the gut. They will concentrating on stopping Cory. There will be a spy on him the whole game. I have not heard anything from them that sounds like over confidence this year. They think they will win but do expect a very hard fought battle. I am hearing we will see some trick plays form what has been going on at practice this year. None have been ran and some feel they are for our aggressive defense.
  13. This is a very talented team. Moreso than lanst year. If you remember they lost to NM last year prior to playing us. They continously improved and their fan base feels this is the best team they have ever had. Some are picking them over Texas, I have my doubts on that. Last year we did not have a defense. Many players were fighting the staff. Some never bought into what Coz was trying to do. This year they have bought in. And if they didn't my guess is McKeon would kill them. We still do not match up well with their receivers. Still too small and not a lot of experience. But this year we will have a pass rush and LB's with speed to cover their over the middle guy. We will let some go for sure, but I look for a major attack on the QB. And a lot more running. I do not want to see us try to outscore Tech in a track meet. We lose. Grind it out and beat the hell out of their line, the left side is weak according to their fans. And introduce Cody to the new turf on a regular basis. I do not think they can protect him as well as ISU did Meyers. This is the best team we face until the CCG if we get there and it may be them again who knows. This is the deciding game of the season as it was last year. I think after watching McKeon play we are really in this game. If the Offense can move the ball, and I see no reason they won't, our defense will be well rested. This is a major part. If they get tired from being up and down the field all day we will have problems. The offense has to win this game for us. It has to take some of the preasure off of the Defense.
  14. I frequent another site that has a guy called schestev. He and Bernard disappear at the same times. Could it be the same person. I would say without a doubt... But as Jake says he did post it a year ago Nameless. He may have changed his mind about this years defense who knows. I am hoping by next year all will be on the same page with the whole team.
  15. I seriously doubt the team or the staff are thinking certain wins. I watched the Missouri game. They were in it and played Texas tough. Texas could not move the ball on them. Both teams were having turnover problems early but Texas was able to take advantage. Had Missouri taken advantage it could have been closer at the end. Smith is very mobile and Woods is the real deal. Baylor went into A&M and played lites out football. That is supposed to be the one of the toughest places to play. Baylor has bought in I think. KState is KState and they will give us a game as they always do. We made some strides today, but I still say our toughest game is this weekend. I doubt we get by Tech, but I think the rest are all possible wins. But this staff went after Iowa State totally different than most would have. It worked and gave our offense some confidence. Who knows, thats why we play the games. Great win yesterday. I am coming around on believeing this D is for real.
  16. Hey we are 4-0. We beat a team that most felt we would lose too. We actually showed an offense. Wake Forest knockded of Clemson. Things are looking a lot better. Lets be happy guys. We have a very tough game next week, you both know alot about football tell us how we win next week. Time to heal the wounds some.
  17. You know jeph, that comment was made along time ago. I think it is time to drop it. We all have said things, I am sure it was said to show confidence in the team. But of course you team bashers could never understand that. Personally I like that statement alot better that, "well they are moving around well out there." He has confidence, something cowardly internet posters normally lack.
  18. Blackshirt, No I was suppose to meet with BC. But my cousin had a heart attack and ended up in Colorado Springs the day of the meeting. I have met Mr. Pederson, and I admit I do not like the guy. It has nothing to do with firing Frank or anything he has done. He is arrogant and self serving. But no matter my dislike he is doing things to bring this program back. I am not saying anything about the coaching selection. He has some great ideas about raising money and he truly loves Nebraska I think. I think he will end up doing a great job. Most of the hatred is based on Frank. But the job of AD is being done better than the previous AD in my oppinion. He is truly all about the football program and that is never bad. I was amazed though, my wife hit it off with him quite well. That cost me more money last year. At least it did not end up at USC like she had planned.
  19. Tech's offense has not faced anyone this year so their offense is not good. I agree they have played no one. But their offense is probably the best we will face this year and by a long long long ways. If we get to the CCG then maybe we will face better offense, be it Texas or a more experienced Texas Tech. Nebraskas defense has not faced anyone this year so their defense is good. You need to get your logic in line. We will know for sure if our defense is real in that game. I have my doubts that we are going to do well against Tech, but I have been wrong before. But if the offense can not keep the defense off the field we have no chance. This game is totally up to the offense. I have said all year we lose to Tech, I still see nothing that has changed my mind. TT 40 Neb 27
  20. I was at Mizzous last game. If it comes down to the fans, Texas wins going away. I do not think Mac is going to let down this year. He sees the opportunity to return to Pasadena and whip up on USC. He will have this team ready for every game. Mizzou appears to be playing better than I thought they would. They are allowing Smith to run and they have a very good running back. Still think we are watching one part of the NC game. I really do not think this will be close.
  21. oops! That string could change soon.
  22. Ron Brown would never work as AD. He does not have the time nor the knowledge to do the job. He does not have the educational background nor the personality to do the job. He is great man and good coach. But AD's are not coaches anymore in the true sense. Hard nosed CEO's of a major business. Turner did not have the experience or knowledge to do the job either in my oppinion. Good Husker player does not mean successfull coach. We have proven that with Frank. We needed to go outside to bring some who sees outside the box. We have a good AD. I do not like him, but he is doing the job he was hired to do. He is placing the emphasis on the Football program. This has not been done for a long time. He is building the facilities up. Whether he hired the right guy for the job can be questioned but I really do not think there were many that would have taken the job. I sure wish Pat Hill would have considered us if he was even approached. I like his fire and determination and the fact he would play anyone anywhere. He would have been a tremendous coach for Nebraska.
  23. No problem, I will try to let them out next time.
  24. My guess is the a$$hole has had problems before with BC. And BC does not appear to be the type to kiss a$$. But in honesty I could care less what Rome has to say. He is a jerk and has always been one. He was anti Nebraska when Frank was here and thought our offense belonged in a cave. Who gives a crap what the moron thinks.
  25. Pretty close to right and Frank was told not to do it. Frank felt if he won he would be retained. But Frank refused to make recruiting a priority. Extending the coaches was one of the problems that SP nor Pearlman were not happy about. Giving Pelini a much longer contract did not help. Frank knew the writing was on the wall but did nothing to stop it. Stubborn is the word. I think he had dealt with Byrne and felt he could bully SP, it backfired. Again this is not a slap at Frank. He was in a no win situation from the start. He never had any authority in the program and had many peers who felt he did not deserve the job. Byrne pulled the emphassis off of the FB program. Just too many problems for Frank to survive and prosper. Like I said there were many many problems, and not the least being certain boosters who wanted Frank gone after the Colorado game. I really do not think Frank could have survied even if he had started winning, as it would not have been fast enough to the NC for alot of Big Buck Boosters. Whether this staff will be able to do it any faster is the question in my mind. I am willing to give them another two years. If I do not see the improvement by then I will have to agree that BC was an error. But of all that wanted the job or could have been given the job I think he was the best option. It was not a highly desired position no matter how wonderful we think it is.
