  1. O line is playing fine. Martinez is the sole reason our offense can't take advantage of amazing field position.
  2. The coaching is fine. The execution is terrible. I've liked our play calls on offense, but Martinez cannot get the ball there at all. He throws like a 12 year old girl.
  3. Exactly. We're down huge. Put in Carnes and see what happens. Can't really look worse.
  4. Agreed. They're terrible. I don't care if you're young, you don't make mistakes like they're making. Ciante just plain got outrun by 5 yards by Toon on that TD. At this rate, I don't think Pelini gives out any blackshirts this year.
  5. Put Roach in for Fisher. I don't understand why Bo and Carl can't see how desperately bad Fisher is playing. You can't tell me that Roach will be any worse.
  6. Fisher doesn't even deserve to be on this roster.
  7. WOW Fisher. GET HIM OUT. NOW. HOLY. sh#t. He BLOCKED FOR THEM ON THAT PLAY
  8. D line is fine. LBs are disappearing like class it out. Get Compton and Fisher off the field and put some guys on that want to play in this game. Disgusting.
  9. So... why hasn't Cassidy been benched yet? He's played like dogshit all 4 games so far.
  10. Really? He seems to be doing quite well if you ask me. He is improving on ball security, decision making and his passing accuracy. There is still much work to be done of course. I don't think Frazier, Frost or Crouch were as good as Martinez at this point, but still people complain about him. Please go back and watch some video of Frazier during his Fresh and Soph years...did you forget all of those low passes into the ground? How was Frazier's long passing game? Martinez will be mentioned as one of Nebraska's great QB's when all is said and done. I'm not trying to bash Martinez, I'll cheer for the guy as much as anyone, but I agree with Blackshirt, he isn't really a QB. He's doing the best with what he has, but his real talent is his raw speed. You guys keep bringing up Frazier and Frost etc., but we need to remember what we're trying to do with our offense. Martinez would have been amazing in TO's offense. Great shot at winning a Heisman. Hell, he may still. But Beck quite clearly wants to run a spread option attack. That requires passing. Not a ton, but you've got to be able to stretch the field accurately and hit your men in open space in stride. Look at the guys we're recruiting at QB: Tommy Armstrong has a cannon for an arm, with good mechanics and pocket presence. He'll need to work on his accuracy, but he's starting from a much better base than Martinez did. Devin Fuller, an astounding runner in his own right, can throw a much better deep ball than Martinez. Between Carnes, Armstrong, and (hopefully) Fuller, I don't see Martinez finishing his Nebraska career at QB. And you know what? That'd be best for both parties. Martinez will never be a pro QB. Anyone can admit that. His mechanics need a lot of work, and he's in that height range that the NFL hates (conveniently ignoring that Brees is probably 5'11"). But if he learns the position in college, he could make a roster at WR.
  11. ... that is easily the worst photoshop I have seen in years. Some of you really can't tell that isn't real? The top and bottom aren't even the same shade of black. Heck, there's a giant grey patch on the shoulder. That's ignoring the fact that any true husker fan () is already familiar with that exact picture from a uniform fluff-up earlier in the season.
  12. Cassidy needs to come out. There's no way he's one of our two best safeties.
  13. UT-Martin is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, which is in the Football Championship Subdivision, or D2. D1-AA.... formerly anyways.... Am I speaking French suddenly? D1-AA has been referred to as Division Two, D2, DII, or any other combination for the last umpteen dozen years until they came up with this ridiculous "FCS" and "FBS" nomenclature. Sorry, but no, it hasn't. You may have been mistaken about it, but DI-AA and D2 are very distinct from one another.
  14. UT-Martin is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, which is in the Football Championship Subdivision, or D2. Football Championship Subdivision = DI-AA. D2 is a separate animal.
  15. In my limited experience, it is a real problem at successful football schools. In high school, we ran pure conditioning two-a-days where we were not allowed to have water, only ice cubes, and very few at that. We would regularly engage in "oklahoma" style drills where the only goal was to knock the crap out of the guy infront of you. And this was all ~6 years ago, so we're not talking the "dark ages" or anything. That said, it certainly helped make us a tough, physical, well conditioned team and directly contributed to our success. Honestly, I'm not sure whether more regulation is needed or not.
  16. Thanks for pulling that quote out, I hadn't gone over specifics from the player interviews. I've been of the opinion for awhile yet that this offense will involve a lot more passing than most people are expecting, and I think that's a great thing. We're not going to win a national championship with an offense like GTech or Navy, we're going to win one with an offense like Oregon. Passing can be an essential part of the equation while still maintaining an option football running game. I think it'll be a beautiful thing in action. <BartScott> Can't wait! </BartScott>
  17. I'm always curious, what's the average age of the people in here saying that the 2 & 3 pics look terrible? It has to be a generational thing, because I'm fairly certain the most common descriptive term for those shoes when asking 16-30 year olds would be "Bad. Ass."
  18. This MN husker would love a PM as well.
  19. Murtha was signed to the practice squad, and almost claimed by the Seahawks. Purify is on the Cinci practice squad. Not sure of any others.
  20. Thank god!!!! Hopefully we are getting over Cosgrove's horrible teaching and the poor tackling that went along with it. I agree it sounded like we started flat, but man once we got going it was like "SEE YA!!!!" We have some playmakers and that's something we haven't seen in quite awhile. Oh by far, this defense is light years ahead of a Cosgrove D. They hustle to the ball. They're not afraid to hit. There are multiple redshirts surrounding the ball. Our LB's are going to be great IMO. That hit by Eric Martin was huge! Compton had a crushing hit early in the game which was a fumble, but the refs blew the whistle. Compton looked pretty good for a first start.
  21. We're still talking about this? We've got real things to discuss now people!
  22. I gotta admit, it looks like it needs a fresh coat of paint tonight. Also, the all blue unis are harder to differentiate than I remember. But, Nebraska doesn't wear all red, so I don't see the same problem for us. However, if the field looked this worn out all the time, I'm not sure its worth it.
  23. First, I'm against it because I think it's a horrible idea. We already have the Sea of Red in the stands, but a red turf would just be too much red. Plus I really don't think the majority of the fans would like it. Second, wikipedia is not a valid source for any sort of formal information. It's ok to get a general idea from it, but not base an argument off of it. However, I myself tried to find information on it and found nothing, so it's possible that it may be true. However, if it weren't a rule, teams would know about it and you'd think that there would be more than just 1 team out of the hundreds of college football teams in the nation (including other divisions) that would color their turfs differently. Actually, studies have shown that Wikipedia is an incredibly reliable source of information, on par or better than Encyclopædia Britannica. Regardless, I downloaded the NCAA 2009-10 rulebook and read the section regarding the field of play. There are no references to color aside from the yard lines/numbers being white. So in this case, Wikipedia is correct.
  24. No kidding. People here are WAY too uptight. Wow. This is the internet fellas. A message board for discussing random thoughts about our favorite team. No reason to jump on me.
