  1. From: Billyball Bo sensed a need in the offense for this true freshman to be ready to play THIS YEAR and NEXT YEAR or he would not have made an uneeded decision in a blowout first game to cut this talented kid's stay with the Big Red by a year. It's really that simple. I agree that Bo will play the best talent available but your statement is funny to me becuase no matter when they start playing they still only get four years. People make a big deal about whether a kid red shirt or not. It not your career its theirs. They decided to go to a school to get a chance to play and be a part of a team. I never met a D1 athlete that said I'm excited to go to college on a scholarship to get a chance to red shirt. Every kid believes that if given the chance they can compete. Before the game on Saturday Zac Lee really didn't have much more experience in a D1 game than Cody Green. There will be a point in the season when both players are contributing and bringing their tools to the table. Choosing to play Cody this year indicates to me that they know he is special and there will be a battle next year for the starting job. However, this year barring injury Lee will start but Cody will see a lot of action.
  2. I think this discussion should die down until we are able to gauge an opponent of merit. Winning the Sun Belt Conference championship is good, but we need to see the QB's perform against V Tech to know which one is ready to play. With that being said for right now BO has made the decision to start Zac Lee so unless we are in practices, the meeting rooms, or have some insight that they don't have he will remain the starter until he messes up.
  3. Both of these kids came back to "complete there educations" that sucks they got hurt.
  4. Absolutely agreed. We will have to see how they do against an offense that doesn't max protect and send only two or three receivers. NU benefited from being able to sit in coverage while only rushing the four down linemen. Playing against a miserable offensive line made it easy to sit back and break on balls.
  5. Yeah this is always funny to me. Being the pride of America's "Top Religion" and due to their tough schedule the Irish might be in the National Championship or at worst a BCS game. Coaches Poll has them 20th - AP has them 18th Pretty sure the BCS will rank them top ten by the time the first ranking is released. BCS Automatic Qualification: Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings.
  6. With Missouri ranked 25 and their upcoming schedule below; October 8th game is shaping up to be pretty good. 09/12/09 vs. Bowling green 09/19/09 vs. Furman 09/25/09 at Nevada
  7. It is slated as a 3:30 Regional coverage game on ABC. So it will be on over the No. 4 USC at Washington game like GA at OSU was on instead of Baylor at Wake Forest in the 3:30 slot last Saturday
  8. Stoops isn't going anywhere and his career is not in jeopardy. Yes they haven't won a championship since 2000. Regardless to what people may believe the administration and boosters are not disgusted with Stoops. Back in June Oklahoma's board of regents approved a deal that will keep Stoops till 2015 and pay over 31 Million. Stoops has an 80% winning percentage, one National Championship, 6 Big 12 Championships, and has taken his teams to 5 BCS bowl games. From his coaching tree their are 7 Head Coaches that we under him. Including our now head coach who served as Co Defensive Coordinator.
  9. Front four seemed to be waiting on plays a lot throughout the game as well. There was not much by way of pressure with the four down. I do agree that they were able to provide the linebacker and secondary a chance to play coverage instead of blitzing every play and leaving holes. I think it will be very vanilla for this week as well and then on the road we will see the complex defense that we got glimpses of last year.
  10. Defensive Tackle Ndamukong Suh Safety Matt O'Hanlon Place-Kicker and Punter Alex Henery Center Jacob Hickman
  11. Why. Let's just focus on this season, this team, and this coach. With all respect to tradition and the past; people need to focus on what this team can be not what it might be if another coach was here.
  12. The reason I said three is because all but the VT game I have read most feel we will win going away. So sorry for the slip up.
  13. Really? It has been general consensus that NU should win all three of it non conference games. I for one am not expecting to see the score board lit up until game 2 or 3. One thing I am almost positive of is that The Big Red Faithful will not take lightly to losing to FAU; no matter how close the game is. An opening day loss to an about average opponent would be very bad. FYI: Definitions of nightmare: A dream arousing feelings of intense fear or horror. An event or experience that is intensely distressing. I think an FAU loss would fit under that umbrella
  14. Yet the system he used brought back an aggressive defense and a winning record. I have actually seen this system work in different programs. It doenst matter who the captains are becuase the people on the field will make the difference. It is often accepted that the QB and the Middle Linebacker are in charge of their sides of the ball becuase they make the calls. Suh will be the voice on defense captain or not. Zac lee will lead the offense regardless if he gets the C. This encourages the same competition that occurs in practice. If we celebrate the blackshirt tradition then this should be accepted as well.
  15. I want a win as well so when they NU goes down to Blackburg the game has meaning. Not a wounded team struggling to get throught the season. It will do more for NU playing a good team instead of a team sliding out of the top 25
  16. There is only one reason there is no Big 12 Network. Texas wont sign off on it. As an athletic program they generated over $120 million in revenue so they are not trying to split any of that. Especially considering $73 million was generated by football. Wouldn't they make even more with a Big 12 channel? If no, why not? If you compare it to what the Big Ten does there really isn't that much of a reward for team making the money they do. The way is work with the Big Ten Network is as follows: 30% of the revenue revenue generated is distributed to the campus. The remaining 70% to the Athletic department. No matter what each program is guaranteed at least revenue of: $6.125 million Out of the they totaled programming cost to be: $250,000; If they only get the guaranteed the campus get 30% which is about 1.8 million Athletics would recieve over four million. That would mean that teams like ISU, Baylor, Colorado, and KSU would get the guaranteed amount becuase of the support of school like NU, OK, TX, ATM, and MU. Illinios for instance only average 7 million a year from TV so there profits were doubled with this move. Teams like Ohio State, Micihigan, Penn State, and Iowa with there large alumni and fan support generate 3 time that number or more.
  17. That exactly why I posted this. If your first instinct is to react that way he did in such a hostile situation........Im pretty sure making a couple reads before a blitz should be pretty easy for him.

  19. Miss. football player averts gun tragedy on school bus By CHRIS JOYNER The (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger submitted by alane s. megna • September 2, 2009 YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. - Kaleb Eulls started Tuesday perhaps like many high school students - catching a few last minutes of sleep on the bus ride to school - but he ended the day a hero. Advertisement At 6:53 a.m., a 14-year-old girl boarded the bus and walked toward the back. She reached into a flower-print bag and pulled out a chrome-plated .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun and began shouting and threatening the other students. "She was using some hard words," said Yazoo County Sheriff Tommy Vaughan. "She was saying somebody on the bus was either messing with her or picking on her." Eulls, 18, said one of his three younger sisters, who were among the 22 people on the bus, shook him awake when they saw the girl with the gun. Vaughan said Eulls approached the girl, telling her to "put the gun down." Meanwhile, the girl demanded that the driver pull the bus over. Vaughan said the incident occurred in a rural part of the county that is miles from help. Many of the students were elementary age. Eulls said he tried to get the girl's attention. Then Eulls, a 6-foot 4-inch, 255-pound senior, did what made him highly recruited as a defensive end at Yazoo County High School - he tackled her. Vaughan said both students went down, and a second later, Eulls' right hand shot back into view holding the weapon. "I kept my distance for a second, she kind of glanced away or blinked and I got to her," he said. "I just basically thought about all the lives that were in danger," Eulls said. "It all happened in about five minutes. I'm thankful that it turned out the way it did." Now Eulls is being hailed as a selfless hero. "He made the statement to one of my deputies that if she was going to shoot anyone, he would rather she shoot him," Vaughan said. "Watching him do that and him doing such a heroic act and not even caring about his own safety, that's something you don't see every day." Kaleb Eulls said his mother, Ora Eulls, was relieved when he got home from football practice Tuesday night. "She said, 'You're everybody's hero.'" Eulls, who also plays quarterback, has committed to Mississippi State University. The girl was arrested on 22 counts of attempted aggravated assault, 22 counts of kidnapping and one count of possession of a firearm on school property. She was transported to the county juvenile detention facility, Vaughn said. He said he wanted to know more about the gun, which he described as an inexpensive model prone to firing accidentally. "I'm interested in talking to her parents to find out where did she get this gun," he said. "If she got it from home, why was it not secured?" *** All I can say is wow *** This is a story that will get a little publicity but could have had a lot more publicity if it had ended negatively. This happened yesterday and if not for the actions of this young man we could be seeing non stop coverage of the kids that might have been injured.
  20. Written by Jen And when we do lose a player to another school, we rarely, if ever, know the real reason why. Maybe the coaches won't promise a player playing time, a starters role, a job for mommy/daddy/uncle buck, maybe the player is a trouble-maker, uncoachable, maybe they find something out about the player and tell him to look elsewhere. Or, maybe another school's coaching staff was able to promise the player what he wanted or maybe they are just better recruiters and did a more complete job of selling their school than the Nebraska coaches did. If all this is the case then why was a scholarship offered to the player. Prior to a scholarship being offered a player would get an opportunity to talk to staff members and if these issues were there it would be my hope that a scholarship would not be offered.
  21. Image taken from images.rockmnation.com/images/user/7/Snyder.jpg For some reason just doesn't seem right or it must be a long way off. Based on the sign on the back of the bleachers it would have to be the visitors sideline.
  22. That comment speaks volumes to where you guys are as a program Do you think you will fare better? There is a tremendous talent gap with UT/OU and the little sisters of the poor, I am a realist, you all are not much closer to them then we are. This isn't 1995 it is 2009. It's not a matter of who will do better or worse. I would never concede defeat to any team prior to the game being played. Being a realist of where the program is does not mean to lay down and accept an arse whooping.
  23. I will get the best birthday present ever. On my birthday (SEPT 3rd) football officially kicks off. No work on Friday and Monday equals a 4 day weekend full of football.
  24. I will admit it is very inappropriate to tell the mans business like that. But if he didn't want that information out he should have shown a little more tact in what he says on this board. This is the same board with thousands of self proclaimed experts. Also we have many inside info leakers that put their info on the board from their very good and accurate anonymous sources. So what else is to be expected in that regard.
