  1. my head hurts.... i think they should just have me start at quarterback next year. That would clear up alot of the confusion.
  2. Simple answer... they are crazy... or stupid... or both
  3. Mel Kiper has him listed as the 11th best quarterback in all of college football.... He threw for more touchdowns than ZT did all last year in only seven games. He played in a BCS conference and before the second half meltdown, he led ASU to a 21-7 lead at half against USC. He is 6-4, weighs 230 lbs, and is surprisingly mobile. ASU does not run as complicated an offense as we do, but it isnt a high school offense either. He has a whole year to practice and learn, including two fall camps, a spring camp and a spring game. He will be fine.... as a matter of fact, he will be more than fine. If he comes here he will start in 07 and will put up all league numbers... The soothsayer has spoken.
  4. I have about as much faith in ganz as I do in myself... we have both accomplished about the same amount at the D-1 level, and by that I mean watching every game... thats about it.
  5. I personally think that Purify is going to be more than stellar, and that Swift and Nunn are pretty damn good too, but maybe thats just me...
  6. ummm.... if making the video means throwing for 35 tds and 3500 yards... than yes, he can play here if you dont mind
  7. ummmm.... what are this guys sources??? Last I heard, there was no seperation between the four backs...
  8. We have to mix it up in order to contain them defensively... Dont give the quarterback, whoever it ends up being, any easy reads. Make him think. I am not concerned to much with stopping the run, as we were very stout angainst traditional style running teams last year, and USC has issues at runningback, but we need to make their inexperienced quarterback think under pressure. If they still had Leinart, I would say play conservative and hope to pressure with front four, but with a new guy in their, you have to put him on the ground a few times early and get into his head. Multiple blitz packages, and make sure to disguise them before the play.
  9. The odds of Peterson coming back for next year are about the same as a eunuch getting a 105 year old post menopausal woman pregnant.... and for those of you who dont know, thats pretty damn low!!!
  10. Would you pass up on santana moss or steve smith if they were available? They are pretty short as well. Speed kills at all levels of football, and this guy definately has that. Look at who Callahan has offered, not just gotten to come here. Many of the receivers are shorter in stature, we just seem to land the tall ones!!
  11. Texas does not have theirs built yet, so as of right now, ours is the biggest..
  12. They wont have to rely on freshman.... they have four and five star players who have been riding pine for the last three years waiting to get their shot. The only thing we have going for us really is that they will be breaking in a new quarterback and it will be early in the year. We are a very good team. USC could continue to be a juggernaut or could be a good to mediocre team depending on how they come together to play. This entire game is a giant questionmark as far as I am concerned.
  13. I agree with gamecocks.... its not as if he sat on his ass while he was here. He worked as hard as he could from what I have heard, was willing to switch positions numerous times to try and make the team better, worked his ass off on the scout team, which is one of the reasons that our defense was able to handle some of the players that it did. He gave his time and effort to our team, and he earned that one year on scholarship. Now it will go to some deserving walk on and that doesnt bother me either. You cant begrudge a man for wanting to play, and as it looks right now, it was quite possible that Leon was never going to crack the two deep. He will have that opportunity elsewhere. Beck is a different story. He was nearly gauranteed the starting spot for next year, and than fliped out over being placed back on the depth chart, even though any idiot could have told him it was because he was coming off an injury. Leon did not quit, he is merely taking advantage of an opportunity to be able to play. Beck quit.
  14. I cant count on one hand how many o lineman have made significant contributions in their first two years on campus.... some play, few are good, still even fewer are all big twelve caliber lineman. You cant teach size, and you cant teach long arms... Very few guys have the kind of frame that can support that amount of weight, and fewer still have a wingspan like that.
  15. I actually agree with you AR.... the reason that I am excited about this kid is his potential... He is no where near ready to come in and just play. He needs a red shirt year at least. He needs to get in shape and refine his technique as far as staying low and driving. What looks good to me is the fact that he has very long arms and is adept at using them to keep defenders from getting into his body. Watch those plays and tell me the number of times the defender turns him, or gets him off balance to the left or right. You cant teach or train that. That is talent. He does need to get into the weight room here, but im telling you, he could be a great one.
  16. Wow, that kid has great potential. His arms are extremely long, and more importantly he uses them well. He needs to work a little on his quickness, but its nothing a red shirt year couldnt take care off. This guy might be the best o lineman of this class. He has great technique, and has the size and toughness (watch how many guys push him after the play due to his tough play), to be a great one... I really want him
  17. Nah.... it said that lasers are going to randomly fire upon the opposing teams bench every few minutes during the game from the scoreboard.... than it said something nice.... like have a good semester or something like that...
  18. There needs to be something done by the football program to honor her passing. She sent her two sons and daughter to the university, and raised them all to be outstanding induviduals who made everyone else around them a better person for having known them. She deserves that at least....
  19. I cried a hell of alot more when they didnt fire Solich after going 7-7.... and after teh horrible blowout to CU. It seemed pretty obvious to me at the time that the traditional power option had died in College Football, and that the times had passed Frank.
  20. It might be to say that Adam Carriker is lining up on the opposite side of the ball from him.... That always seems to make quarterbacks fall down more... dont know what the deal is.
  21. D will was more talented than Farley, Ruud was more talented. There was a reason these guys were high draft choices.
  22. I love this board.... Thanks AR for clarifying, and thanks spartness for being a classy fan. Get Paul on the board!!!! I want him to be the first to post here after Callahan hoists the sears trophy over his head!!!!! Maybe a little bit hopeful, but what the hell is the point of watching if you think your gonna lose!!!!
  23. Thats bull, if a recruit contacts fans over the internet, we are in no way breaking an ncaa violation by talking to him, even were we to encourage him to come here, allthough we dont have to since he is already committed. We are not allowed to contact him with the express purpose of getting him to come here, but he is certainly allowed to post on any board he wants, and we can ask any questions that we want as well. The rule is alot less gray than you think.
  24. Completely disagree with the assesment of Taylor's arm strength. He has a nfl caliber arm. He can throw the deep out and the square in with consistancy, and as a matter of fact, the deep out, which is the toughest throw to make in football, became his go to pattern. I think his arm alone gets him drafted. I think the nfl would be more concerned with his general lack of athleticism. At this point I believe he is actually a more polished passer than Leinart was last year, just sans weapons. He could be a anywhere from a late second day pick all the way up to a first round pick depending on how the year goes. There is a reason that kiper has him in his top five, and it isnt because of his blazing speed...
  25. I think that there needs to be a good mix. I dont begrudge ANYONE on this planet to experience the marvel that is a nebraska home game, and I see both sides of the argument. I dont think that being drunk and beligerent is a necessary part of being a good fan, but being as loud as it is possible for you to be is. Even my dad, who is 50 years old screams his head off when the opposing team has the ball. I appreciate what the older generation has done for nebraska football, and I ask nothing of them other than doing what is best for your health, as mentioned in a previous post, and being as loud as you can be. I can say the same for the young, who I ask to be respectful of the opposing team as well as your fellow fans. It goes both ways.
