  1. We need to fire Cotton and Gilmore at the end of the season. If we get a good oline coach and wrs coach then i feel all of the offensive problems will be fixed. The WR's will run better routes and be able to catch balls. The oline will be more disciplined and maybe we can coach them to be dominant again. I think maybe we are blaming Watson a little too much (although he is at fault to a smaller degree).
  2. It will not change the outcome of the game BUT it will force the NCAA to keep a close eye on our future games. If they see this happening against colorado or in the big xii championship then I have a feeling the Big XII would have second guesses about inept officiating in those games..
  3. How are the calls against Martin BS -- no one has seen replay -- NO one knows what he was called for - All the procedure penalties are fine. We are used to that from the past two years. Yeah, I'll agree that Cotton should have been penalized. He was getting the business but he should have controlled that. Human error there on the officials. The penalties that are BS are the ones on Eric Martin, Courtney Osbourne, and the no-call on the A&M DB. Now, they never actually showed the penalties on Eric Martin so that's an automatic BS right there. Courtney Osbourne made a legal hit on Ryan Tannehill a half second after he threw the ball. Not illegal. Finally, that no-call on the A&M which was obviously PI. Here's the thing, if the DB had just jumped in front of the pass, no big deal. But, he was holding onto the receiver's arm as he did it which didn't allow him to catch the ball. Obvious PI. That, my Aggie friend, is why we are angry. Watch that. Your player should have gotten a penalty like that as well as ben cotton's penalty. Of course, you wont rspond to this post because you would then have to admit that i was a penalty on A&M as well
  4. For me the roughing call was the bad call, which obviously gave you guys the lead. I had a big problem with the fact that #71(I believe) from your O-Line was never penalized for holding. There are easily 4 obvious holds during that game that should have been called. I don't think it was necessary to penalize our player twice on the kick, but that's just my opinion. They had two throw two flags on Cotton the kick and the stuf aftward -- they where not for the same thing but a lot of people on here is complaining about the two flags -- Accoring to the rules he should have been ejected! Apparently, reading comprehension isnt your strength. If you read my post, that should have also been a personal foul on A&M's player that was grabbing Cotton's junk. That IS a personal foul and they have called that in a game before.
  5. then you would have noticed that one of Texas AM guys was touching Ben Cottons junk. That IS a penalty if you look in the rulebook, in fact, they called it in a game one time. So instead of having the penalty be on us, there should have been a penalty on texas AM as well, which means offsetting penalties. Also, the AM wr clearly was holding Dennards hand and pushing off of him first, which should have been offensive PI. Also, I saw numerous times that Texas AM players putting a hand on our facebook or holding, especially their oline. So youre telling me the most penalized team in the big 12 is only going to have two penalties? Something isnt fishy there? Maybe if you watched the game in more detail you would have seen some of the other non calls or bad calls. Also, can you tell me how there were personal fouls on Martin? I didnt see any personal fouls on him so maybe you could tell how they were pesonal fouls?
  6. I didnt hear them cheer when he went down but i didnt hear them cheer when he got up neither.
  7. He definitely is, but they got that from us. ;p I watched the YouTube of your tunnel walk (pretty cool btw!) and I noticed that familiar yell from the Huskers crowd. Honestly, Suh has reinvigorated the Lions faithful like they haven't been in a long time. Yes, they lose a lot of games but mostly because they have crappy breaks. They don't often lose by much (did y'all see that Calvin Johnson TD? GRRrrr) and their QB seems to be made of glass or something because he keeps getting injured. The Lions fans were getting beaten, getting tired and then along comes SUUUUH. He can do no wrong. Even when he nearly ripped off Delhomme's head and drew that penalty, it was just like "Oh that's Suh. Plays with so much passion!" He's their silver lining. The Lions may lose, but "OMG did you see that play by Suh?" He's great. Him and Corey Williams definately give us lion faithful hope (been a lion fan since 91.) Although, every time i think we are going to do good things, we end up messing up somehow i.e. a few yeas ago we started 6-2..then ended the season 2-6, the n.y jets game then we come out and play like crap against the bills . Anyways, Stafford will be a good qb if he can stay healthy, the lions right side of the line is horrible..Raiola and Backus definately need to go, even tho Raiola is a fellow husker he is a HORRIBLE nfl center. He also flipped off the crowd a few years ago. Lions are two years away, we need a second cb (smith is an amazing cb, 5 ints in 7 games), our lb corp needs help. We had to sign carpenter because everyone is hurt and we need a power back. OH well, im used to the "same old lions" phrase but i definately hope to make it up to a game in ford field sometime! Lol. This is my first year as a Lions fan and after every game, I'm like "Wow, so close! We'll definitely get it next time!" my fiancé just looks at me, shakes his head, and mutters something about me being in the first stage f being a Lions fan. Hope, anger, disbelief, resentment, then acceptance -> those are the stages. He still loves the Lions, though they seem to find ways to make you think they can/will win and then lose in a heartbreaking fashion. Lions...rebuilding since 1957! Exactly. In a few years you will see that the lions will get your hopes up and then crush them. They like to play with your emotions. I blame the owner, Ford is a horrible owner!

  9. Maybe from your guys' point of view it was a "bad" article, but from a journalistic sense it was a good one. It was very descriptive and had you feel like you were actually there. It had the suspense and drama that any story needs. Maybe this wasnt an article at all but a story about turner gill coming back to Nebraska. You kinda knew what happened every night, during and after the game. So from a story sense, it was written well. It had suspense, drama, and very descriptive. It may have been "creepy" but if youre trying to tell a story about someone shouldnt it be as detailed as possible? People could actualy envision what was going on.
  10. 1. We didn't play A&M last year. 2. There's no point in worrying about the game this Saturday. First of all, it's just a game. Second, Nebraska has shown that if they execute, they can beat anybody in the country. We aren't going to get beat because Texas A&M has more talent, or a better scheme, or a home field advantage. If Nebraska takes care of itself, Nebraska will win. Ooops, i meant texas tech. I should probably proofread more
  11. Wow, we have a lot of people drinking some kool aid. Im not saying we are going to lose but you CAN NOT be confident with how our offense has been playing. The last time we played an offense like this was okie state and they put up 35 points on us. If martinez was healthy, we would be fine but if its an high ankle sprain that will not heal fully til about the end of december. Hopefully I am worried over nothing, Ill tell you how i feel sat morning. Usually that says how we do (I had a bad feeling against A&M last year and texas this year but had a good feeling on gameday when we played missouri, kstate and okie state). GBR! P.S. Welcome to the board SeenNotHeard and good luck!
  12. Also, let me give you some stats on this year lions team compared to last year. 2010: +15 point differential (8 games) 2009: -232 point differential (16 games) 2010: 203 pts scored, 188 pts allowed (8 games) 2009: 262 pts scored, 492 pts allowed (16 games) 2010: 23rd ranked defense, 7th ranked offense 2009: 32nd ranked defense, 27th ranked offense 2010: SRS 4.5 (3rd in NFC), +3 turnover differential 2009: SRS -14.4 (last in NFL), -18 turnover differential As you can see, the Lions will be a force soon..with Schwartz coaching and Mayhew being a great GM..also, our schedule has been the toughest in the nfc
  13. Altho I found it rather funny that some people think the lions are horrible..they obviously havent watched any games this year. game 1: chicago..shoulda been a win with the calvin johnson catch, we were ahead before stafford got hurt in the second quarter by peppers. 2. philly. We were down i believe 27-17 in the 4th quarter only to come back and lose by game 3: Minnesota, we jsut got beat. Bad playcalling by linehan, he didnt even try to throw it downfield once. 4. Green bay: down by two points in the final minute..threw the ball 2 times downfiled on 3rd and 4th down, CLEARLY pass interference by charles woodson that didnt get called. If they refs didnt swallow his whistle then we would have been in jason hanson's range if we ran two more plays. game 6: we were down by 5 with 5 minutes left, we were on nyg 46 yard line and burleson fumbled the ball and the giants recover to win by 8. Of course, there was the jets debacle where we were ahead by 10 midway through the 4th quarter only to lose the game. This lions team is a pretty good team and could easily be 6-2. NOt the lions of the old that i have watched in the past.
  14. Im a diehard lions fan and this is what NEEDS to happen. We need to draft a second cb or lb first off. Our lb corps are worse in the league and the only decent lb we have is peterson. Of course, we are banged up at lb so that could be part of the problem. Secondly, Alphonso Smith is a stud, he has 5 ints in the past 6 games and he is in his second year. Pretty beastly. We have a good fs in louis delmas, he is a stud and will keep getting better. Our dline is beastly led by corey williams (we traded a 5th round pick for him to the browns, or something simliar i believe), Suh and VandenBosch. We have avril as one of our ends and well..hes not that good but the other 3 make him seem decent. So we also need to get an end, but definately worry about the lb corp and a second cb first. We are averaging the second most ppg in the league, but we need a better right side of the line and raiola needs to get the hell outta detroit! Hes not a very good center and messes up the line audibles when he sees a blitz coming. Backus is..horrible. We also need a power back to compliment best. Once we fix the lb corp, second cb and ss and the right side of the line then we will be one of the top teams in the league. Here in order of needs. 1a. rolb/mlb 1b. 2nd cb 2. right side of oline 3. ss 4. power back 5. DE.
  15. Bo's demeanor is fine. Certain coaching styles work with certain players and ANY coaching style can work in football as long as you know what pushes every kid's buttons. From a psychological perspective, every person reacts differently to a certain demeanor. Maybe Bo yells at some people/kids to light a fire under them while giving some players a free pass due to the fact that maybe that type of attitude would be too negative for them. Now, put yourself in a football players mindset and you see that your team has been getting hosed the whole year with penalties. You then see your coach getting in the refs face and having your back. From a psychological perspective, you would feel that he is defending you and you would have more willpower to fight through the adversity because your coach is "having your back." Also, how do we know how he acts behind the scenes? I have heard no complaints about him from the players or other coaches so maybe people are overracting to his sidelne demeanor. Any coach style can work, there is no such thing as "too mean." Look at bear bryant, woody hayes, nick saban, etc. Have you guys even seen nick saban on the sideline? He gets as fired up as Bo, apparently that didnt cost alabama the championship last year. Look, he obviously knows how to interact with his players. All his players respect him, which means he is treating them well and knows how to deal with every single one of the players. Some kids can handle it, some kids dont but obviously he can pick out the kids that can when he recruits them. With that being said, he hasnt gotten into any trouble and hasnt cost us any games so why are we worried about him being too mean? This is football, fellas, it isnt a sewing contest. His style is obviously showing improvement and positive results so lets lay off the bo hating. Of course, people are going to hate just to hate. Go Big Red!
  16. Is this OP serous? Im as critical as they come but we shouldnt put pelini under the bus. 1. EVERY team has bad games against mediocre teams. Name ONE team that blows through the schedule without having a close call to a mediocre team? 2. Pelini doesnt controlt the Wr's dropping passes, thasts Gilmore, the Wrs's coach. 3. Pelini is still learning and hes winning while in the learning curve, he will only get better. 4. When hasnt he done well in the big games? We almost beat texas in the big xii championship and they were a lot better team than us last year. 5. When has he ever had a horrible to mediocre defense? The first year when he was here doesnt exactly count. 6. Osbored hsd close calls with a mediocre missouri team, almost lost to wyoming in 94 i believe, and had close calls with colorado, why dont we throw him under the bus while we are it? 7. The offenive flow is on watson's and the offensive coaches hands, Pelini lets them do what they want. Now if the offense gets bad in the future with the drop passes and the mental errors on that side of the ball then i would hope pelini would make some changes, but it looks like our offense is growing so no need to make any changes yet. p.s. Name me ONE..just ONE coach out there that you would pick over pelini? Tressel, Brown, Saban, Ferentz, D'antonio, stoops etc always have close calls against mediocre teams. Stop overreacting.
  17. standford ahead of us in the bcs standings? They only have one win against a top 25 team while we have two wins against top 25 teams? I really dont see how they are ahead of us.
  18. well, it looks like the OP may have been right and some of the people with "sources" may have been right.
  19. than some of the other boards ive been to. I am a orlando magic fan so i browse their boards. Anyway, on the game thread, people are complaining about the "cliques" that are apparently running rampant on the message board. I guess the mods take pictures/ideas from some of the not so popular posters and chastize everything the "not so" member posters say. Thank God this is a well ra n message board
  20. How sweet would it be for the Lions to pick up Prince? The secondary is definately a weak link and Prince would help shore that up, helping the Line and vice versa. Lions future looks bright, explosive RB, good QB, improving Defense. Asking for a Suh Lions Jersey as early Christmas present, like tomorrow. Honestly, I like patrick peterson a lot more than prince. I dont think he will end up being able to get Peterson because he will be a top 5 pick. We should draft cbs, lbs, rt and rg..if we get those positions filled then we are set. We already have the best defensive line in the nfl. Great passing game, decent qb, good left side of the oline although we do need to acquire a power back.
  21. Ive been a Lions fan since 91...you are becoming a fan when the lions wll soon make the playoffs (we WILL make the hplayoffs in two years when we get more help in the secondary, a power back, lbs, a better right side of our offensive line).
  22. There are 3 degrees of sprained ankles. The first degree is the least harmful and full recovery timd is about 3-5 days. Not very much ligament damage and usually the most common. There is the second degree, which takes 2 weeeks-1 month to fully heal, moderate ligament damage. The third degree is the worst and you are pretty much better off breaking your ankle. About 80 percen tof the ligaments will be torn, recovery time is about 2 to 3 months. When i sprained mine, i couldnt even walk on it for a month and even after i started walking on it, it was really weak. Your whole foot gets purple/blue, the sweeling is about 3 times of a first degree and the swelling will not go down for 3 weeks. Some dcotors even confuse a 3rd degree sprain with a break when they first check out the ankle. Of course, ive sprained my ankle 6 times so ive had every degree of it.
  23. While I agree with you that a one loss Auburn team could stay ahead of us, I think it is a lot more probable that Oregon wins out. If both Oregon and Auburn win out, then really all we can hope for is winning the Big 12 Championship Game and a good BCS Bowl. Right now, the deck seems stacked against us. It almost seems like Bama will have to lose again and Auburn will have to lose before we have a shot. Um, oregon still plays arizona and oregon state. I see them losing one of those games.
