  1. Now that would be something. It would be interesting to see how it would fare at the college level. The A-11 offense is not a legal formation in college, thus no one could run it.
  2. While I don't disagree there, one has to consider that not every player can play for the best coached defense every year, and some players don't need to.
  3. I see the same tired junk from the MU class. A lot of offensive prowess but no defense. You would think they would have learned that they need to load up on D, because their offense struggles when someone hits them in the face. Sasser is a lost, and Franklin is supposed to be good, but I really don't see anyone else on their team that can really hurt us. Offense won the game two years ago in Lincoln, when MU's defense was utterly terrible (worse than it was this year). As it stands now MU has taken 8 defensive prospects in this class, along with two athletes who may just end up on the defensive side of the ball. I don't expect MU to have a top 10 defense anytime in the future but just having a decent defense should be good enough to win most games considering the offensive firepower projected in the next couple of years.
  4. You don't know that for certain, he could very well end up at Mizzou. Everyone seems to think they know things for certain, and often they are wrong. We will see in a week how this plays out.
  5. Not true at all concerning having room for him. If he wants to be a Tiger, then he will be one. Terry was not really that high on the recruiting board as it was especially being a fairly early commit to ku and having ties there, he was on campus for a visit today although I don't anticipate him changing from ku. Carter is visiting TCU and will make his decision by next week. I promise you the MU staff will hold a spot open for him for at least that long. I will wish him good luck no matter where he decides to go rather than berate him like some of the people on this board did when he decommited.
  6. Do you believe that just because Nebraska failed to properly utilize their recruiting class, that means others schools would do the same thing? Practically speaking MU fans are excited because the football program has come a long ways with the middle of the pack recruiting classes they've had the last 4-6 years. To have something like this naturally gets them excited. Let's face it NU fans would still be overjoyed to have a great recruiting class regardless of whats happened in the past. Does this guarantee future success for Mizzou? Certainly not, but it is something to look forward to since this year's football season is almost over.
  7. Well it's now happened. Lucas and Sasser have both now committed to Mizzou. Terry is visiting MU today as well, although I expect him to stay with his ku commit. There is one spot left open which is being reserved for Curtis Carter.
  8. Good call. Committed to Iowa per Rivals. Yes great call... or not.
  9. Bud Sasser has now committed to Missouri as of today (12-19-2009).
  10. The reason that happened was because prior to this move, Mizzou had like 8 kids who had committed who hadn't been assigned a ranking by rivals. The did a re-ranking this past weekend. Then you add the two new committs and the numbers begin to add up.
  11. To add to this discussion I will say this. Sometimes the number of offers a particular recruit has depends entirely on what schools are needing presently and how they perceive a recruit fitting into their scheme. Certain kids have the opportunity to play 2 or more positions potentially within a particular program, such as a kid that wants to play CB but may be getting offers from certain schools to play WR and so on and so forth. From my observations, typically when Mizzou recruits a kid they do so with the intention of playing them in a specific position. Other schools on the other hand may want that kid for another position and are turned down early in the process by that recruit and thus an offer is not extended. As fro mentioned earlier, Pinkel and staff have always had a knack for finding recruits who are not heavily recruited and turning them into very good players. Sean Weatherspoon is a great example of this. He was a 2 star kid who had offers from the following: MU, Iowa State, TCU, Tulane, and Houston. None of those programs were particularly great back in 2005/2006. On paper most would have looked at him and said that he was an average recruit who would get some playing time later in his years but that was it. As it turns out he was a great player who will be playing on Sundays. In summary, rankings and offers don't always tell the full story of what a recruit will be worth, they exist only as a measure. Personally I would have liked to get some higher level recruits on the defensive side of the ball for MU, but thats not the way the staff chose to go. Even so you can have the best athletes on the field, but if your schemes and coaching isn't up to par, you probably aren't going to have great success in those areas (take Notre Dame for example). I'll take our (MU) class over NU's no question this year, but I'd rather have Carl coaching our defense than our DC Steckle.
  12. Well then I guess we are in agreement in most of this. The issue here was someone else trying to tear down the MU recruiting class by saying that so and so player isn't really going to matter because they only had offers from X number of colleges. Then they made the mistake of comparing them to juco players who in this instance don't even play the same position on the field. As I stated in an earlier post, a ranking is just that, it's a ranking. It's an evaluation of a player based on their past performance not on their future. Just as there has been highly rated players who turned out to not be so good, there are under rated recruits who turn out to be pretty good. I made the point of observation which is that just because you are a good high school player doesn't mean you are going to be a good college player. Just because you are a good junior college player doesn't mean you will be a good DI player, and just because you are a good DI player doesn't mean you will be a good NFL player. Yes MU has a good recruiting class this year, but does that mean they will have a bunch of great seasons in the future? Not necessarily, so what is the point in downplaying someone else's recruiting when the results on the field will be the only measure. Nothing said on this or any other message board will change that.
  13. Not at all. I have no idea how good Sheldon will be if/when he makes it back to MU. It's very easy to cherry pick a few juco guys here and there and then portray them as representatives of all other juco players who come through a program. There is a reason why colleges typically don't recruit jucos heavily and that is evidenced over and over again by the number of programs who decline when they recruit juco heavily, like NU for example and KSU in the later 1st run Snyder days. Being a standout player in juco isn't often the same as becoming a standout player at the DI level. MOST jucos don't end up in the NFL and the reason is often because they simply don't have the time in development at the DI level coupled with having to assimilate into often different schemes on either side of the ball. Yes its good to have a couple of jucos come into the program every year particularly if you have a larger graduating class and you need someone with at least some college playing experience to fill in. MU has taken 2 or 3 juco's a year for the past several years and almost every one of them has been on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the secondary, which may explain why MU's secondary has been fairly bad the past few years. The point here was the some people on this board were comparing jucos to high rated incoming freshman, and that really isn't a good comparison to make under most circumstances.
  14. You forgot about Lucas and Carter, both of whom may ultimately end up at Mizzou. But as long as we are bagging on others recruits, other than Rome none of your 4 star recruits were exactly tearing it up on colleges recruiting boards, and jucos are just that, junior college players who don't often become great players at the next level, take Zac Lee for example. Ratings are just ratings when you get right down to it, you never know whats going to happen once the players get on the field.
  15. Keep dreaming. Franklin is not changing his commit. Not only that but its going to be hard to play football for Nebraska while he is enrolled and taking classes at MU next month.
  16. If you actually believe that then you are more far gone than I had imagined. Look around and you'll find plenty of smack talk all over this board sandwiched right between all the self congratulating and whining and bitching about Watson and the officials of every game you don't win, and half of the games you do win. This place is no different than Tigerboard. The only difference is Tigerboard doesn't make bones trying to pretend they aren't doing it, and hiding behind some self prescribed fantasy about being classy. This very thread itself is evidence of that. People raved and gave high fives when they thought Tyler was coming to NU, then as soon as he wasn't they because a whole different animal even going so far as to insult his family. The same thing with Curtis Carter, only that time this board lodged accusations of negative recruiting and whatever other things they could come up to explain why a recruit may not want to play for Nebraska. Stop being so damn self-righteous, understand that 18 year old kids often make rash decisions.
  17. Wrong. They would most likely get mobbed, and be disallowed to post until 12:00 pm the following day. Very rarely does anyone get permanately banned. Not only that but being mobbed off doesn't stop them because they just sign in under a different account and come right back, because Tigerboard doesn't do IP bans.
  18. What respect or credit do you think you deserve? NU fans are constantly on Tigerboard flaming and everything else every chance they get. There are a few that are tolerable but for the most part the just want to jab. NU beat MU on the field fair and square this year and all the sudden that is license for Cornhuskers to lay out all the smack they want? Where was the respect and credit of the past two years when MU laid it to the Huskers? It works both ways. As for MU fan's opinion of Bo ... why do you care what they think? Does it offend you personally? Bo can handle himself. I think a more fair question is why did this board talk up Tyler so highly since page one of this recruiting profile, and then when the slightest hint comes along that he no longer wants to play for NU, he is (insert any insult you'd like here), and the kid sucks. I mean really, for a fan base that always talks about being classy and the like, this certainly isn't an indication of it. Let's leave out the moral and ethical details of Tyler doing what he did, does that mean or justify the remarks left about him in just the last two days? I would think that being "classy" would mean taking the high road. I hope for your sakes that many of your would be recruits and possible committs don't ever read this board, because I believe they would be truly disturbed about what so called fans of this program have to say about them.
  19. Any by overlooked you mean overshadowed in accuracy? I don't mean to flame or hijack, but accuracy counts just as much as range. Anyone who can kick 20-50 yard FGs at a 96% clip with a lone missed kick coming in a driving rain is probably going to get consideration over someone who kicks 85% even if most of those misses were 45 yards or more. As far as punting is concerned, I'd say he has a legitimate beef.
  20. And unfortunately he takes nearly the same approach as Eberflus did. They both subscribe to this "bend but don't break" philosophy the big difference so far has been that Steckel's D hasn't broke yet, it still bends to the tune of Eberflus' D. If Mizzou really wanted to be a legitimate contender in the Big 12 every year, they need a DC who knows how to run a shut down type defense, and I doubt they will ever get a guy like that into the program.
  21. Other forms of electronic communications are forbidden in times of non contact just as a phone call or a text message would be. If a coach is communicating with potential recruits on a social network it would be a violation just the same.
  22. LOL no they don't, but does that mean a said people are going to stop at the last rest stop before entering either Kansas or Nebraska and drop off the empty bottles, and not open another one once they are past? In either case, I was joking.

  24. Apparently they do, just ask OU, Houston, (insert any of the other teams already upset this year). In virtually every case the favorite team going in was better in the stats department than their underdog opponent.
  25. Ever heard of open container laws? Yes they do apply to passengers as well.
