  1. I voted no. I like this team and what they have done. They are a very good football program. If their SOS gets them there, then I would say yes, they play. I voted no because I do not think their SOS gets them there.not to hijack the thred, but here is yet another reason to have a playoff which all the fans would love
  2. totally agree..whats with the bombs....get the 10 and move the chains..very poorly managed by VT.
  3. lots of open mouth kissing on the way from ESPN....
  4. You cannot deny these guys beat up big schools consistently all the time...now onto their cakewalk schedule... Virginia Tech at Fed Ex Field 6:00 pm ESPN Sat, Sep 18 Wyoming at Laramie, WY 6:00 pm CBS College Sports Sat, Sep 25 Oregon State Bronco Stadium TBA ABC/ESPN Sat, Oct 02 New Mexico State * at Las Cruces, NM 6:00 pm Sat, Oct 09 Toledo Bronco Stadium 6:00 pm Sat, Oct 16 San Jose State * at San Jose, CA 6:00 pm Tue, Oct 26 Louisiana Tech * Bronco Stadium 6:00 pm ESPN 2 Sat, Nov 06 Hawai'i * Bronco Stadium Noon Fri, Nov 12 Idaho * at Moscow, ID 7:00 pm ESPN 2 Fri, Nov 19 Fresno State * Bronco Stadium 7:30 pm ESPN 2 Fri, Nov 26 Nevada * at Reno, NV 8:15 pm ESPN2 Sat, Dec 04 Utah State *
  5. Well... VT beat us in the last minute last year....
  6. I smell a statue of liberty play coming...
  7. The WAC is very weak. Probably why they are heading to the Mountain West and even with the MWC losing Utah and BYU, that conference is still much much stronger than the WAC. The best part of them joining the MWC is that Boise and TCU will eliminate one or other so we don't have to hear a debate for both of them to go to a BCS bowl. SOS will eliminate that scenario. it still looks like a half step to me... they fit geographically(probably not financially) with the Pac 10. just like to see them in a top conference where the wear and tear of a more demanding conference(physically and mentally) could be better measured.
  8. I really respect Boise State and the way they continue to bloody BCS schools, but then I look at their remaining schedule ... Sat, Sep 18 Wyoming Sat, Sep 25 Oregon State Sat, Oct 02 New Mexico State Sat, Oct 09 Toledo Sat, Oct 16 San Jose State Tue, Oct 26 Louisiana Tech Sat, Nov 06 Hawai'i Fri, Nov 12 Idaho Fri, Nov 19 Fresno State Fri, Nov 26 Nevada Sat, Dec 04 Utah State * Even if they win tonight, how does SOS not kick them out of the National title...assuuming they win out after tonight which I think you can argue they will.....I would like to see them survive a season in the B10, B12. SEC, ACC, Pac 10..win out and play for a national title.. btw Tyrod Taylor is an absolute stud!
  9. wow welcome to the Big 10... 4 of those teams are in the top 20 right now. That has to be one of the hardest schedules I have ever seen for us..We had our backfield knocked out by game 2 of conference play last year...and none of those teams look like PSU, WI, OSU, Iowa, etc. etc. we are gonna need to be deep next year. helluva schedule.
  10. Oh wait, we had this one... http://www.huskerzone.com/2007/09/04/husker-tunnel-walk/ it was sooo intimidating...if I was the other team I would be freakin...LOL GAWD 2007 was a bad year.
  11. I was at the game last year, that stadium was rocking. no fan interaction prior to their entrance though. No "Blacksburg bounce?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSudnFMPQ8g&feature=related The South really knows how to get after it in football-I'll give them that
  12. heres one of my favorites..I think we will need a younger generation of season ticket holders before we get this lit in our stadium.absolutely awesome Boise State is fixin to get a taste of this
  13. I push my kids to be well rounded. Sports, hunting/fishing/shooting, outdoors activities of all kinds, etc. whatever they want to excel in. I want them up and moving around, not sitting in front of X box all day. I tell them to try lots of things and only do those things that they really like to do. My experience is if you spend your life following and doing what you really like to do and it comes easy to you, you will be wayyyy better off in about every way-physically, mentally, financially, psychologically, etc. I get my kids in as many sports as they want and let them choose-no pressure from me other than to try hard. I pulled my son out of football bacause he was really not interested. I was the defensive coach and not playing him that hard anyway because other kids deserved more playing time. a year later we were at the Gator bowl and it just kinda clicked for him. he begged to go back for another year and finally when the coach called I gave in on the condition from him we did not have repeat of the prior football experience. He now has an intense love for football and a great motor so he is playing again. He has had to work hard to catch up, but I think that was a great lesson for him...which I never really intended. I coach youth sports here in KC. I deal with parents who are living their dreams instead of their kids dreams. when kids/parents are unhappy, many times it comes back to the kid not liking the sport they are in. I always tell my parents..if they dont want to be here, we are all wasing our time. get them in something that THEY want to do. So I say get them into all the things they like and stand back with no pressure and see where they take it.
  14. What is it with these lawmakers...dont mean this to be a political statament but... We have unemployment, hunger, gulf crisis, wars, more problems than most can fit in their brain...etc. etc. etc. and they are involved in College football? Again!? they should lose their jobs. lets let college football be college football, not a part of the legislative branch College football is a big money-making enterprise that involves a lot of public, government funded schools. There's nothing wrong with the government taking some interest in this from a business/economics angle. OK this govt stuff is not my strong suit...just seems like a whole lotta people involved.

  16. good luck to the Big 12 North with negoatiating now. also if there is a penalty payout by NU and CU, it gets split three ways between OU/aTm/TU. nothing for KU, MU Baylor, etc. I am sooooooo glad we are Big 10 bound. the KC press are saying the Big 12 North basically bought out the south to keep the B12 alive. .....this is so lopsided its almost criminal. the shine is coming off FAST! this league wont last 5 years.
  17. the more I listen to these pressers and the sportsradio here in KC, the better I feel about this. Its hard to fathom how unbalanced the Big Texas...Err Big 12,,,or 10 or whatever is fixen to look. No signed agreement, no signed TV deal..just betting on TU "taking care of everyone" I do not think anyone in it, including the schools, the fans or the press now believe they are in a better place than before the break up.there's a lot of talk about MU, KU, KSU even having a chance to compete anymore in football. In Basketball it could be fabulous, but not football . every year this is gonna come down to TU/OU for the chance at the National Championship and the consolation prize maybe a BCS bowl. the rest of the schools??? in the old days it was called the Blue bonnet bowl...
  18. We basically lost our tradition when we let Texas into the conference and gave up the Oklahoma game. To stay in this conference and let Texas dictate the terms is to have no self-respect. Look how pathetic the other schools look. Do you want Nebraska to look like that? Texas gets even more power than they had before AND a larger share of the money. Besides that, they get to "SAVE" the Big 12. This has been nothing but a power play to force Nebraska's hand and solidify their position as ruler of the conference. When the facts start dribbling out, you'll see that Texas played the Pac 10 like a fiddle. It was a power grab that was masterfully played. Im a die hard Sooner fan. The biggest mistake that Larry Scott and the Pac 10 made was that he didn't offer Tech,Okie State or Kansas first to assure that the Big 12 died. I need to go puke now. Gotta disagree. Larry's biggest mistake was not giving Texas the OK for BevoTV. For those regretting leaving the Big 12. wtf? did they just suddenly become stable? You think Mizzou isn't going to leave the first (legitimate) chance they get? KU/KSU/ISU would all leave if they had the means. We had the means and we took advantage of it. Even A&M thought long and hard about getting out. All the in-fighting that broiled to the surface and suddenly now their all buddies?! Its still a highly dysfunctional marriage of convenience. Why would the Huskers want to remain in that situation? Let the other serfs stay behind in the Texas fiefdom. +1 If MU bitched about being TU's bitch before, getting disrespected by the bowls, etc. its just gone up a few notches(for all but TU and OU). this is going to be a fun basketball conference to watch, but I think its gonna be the reverese big 8 where it was NU and OU who had everyones number. now its TU and MU. The North will have a hard time staying competitive. and TU is gonna call all the shots. the headlines say it all. TU saves the Big 12. TU will anounce "they are keeping the Big 12 together. TU this. TU that. its the Big Texas conference and everyone knows it. TU will probably outearn the rest of the schools by 15-25M a year with their Network and payout. good luck recruiting to Manhattan, Lawrence with that going on. they'll be able to bulldoze their facilites every three years and start over. Additional There is no trust in this conference, TU is the pretty girl thats sets all the rules and has you home on friday night while she's out on a date.MU/KU/KSU/ISU would cheat given the slightest of chance and go to the Big 10 tonight.long term it won't work. Sad to miss the Big 12 games and easy travel to games, but NU is in a better place. but its gonna take some getting used to.
  19. As far as TV goes, we all know what is driving college sports is money. I can no longer drive easily all over the conference, but I do have 60" plasma and guess what I am getting...yep, Big 10 Network. a true life application of how important a Big 12 Network might have been to this conference...
  20. No offense to our new friends in Michigan, but they didn't want a taste of that 97 Team...
  21. I feel your pain but my situation is almost exactly opposite. I currently live in Indianapolis and rarely get to go to games. That all changed for me today and I can't even describe how excited I am!! Several Big 10 schools are within a few hours of me. IU, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Columbus, and even East Lansing and Ann Arbor. Also, it will be awesome not having a regional Big 10 game on ABC have priority over the Huskers anymore! Go Big Red!!! Kansas City is taking this VERY hard..a very real and legitimate disappointment and sense of loss. nobody necessarily disagrees with the decision, but we potentially have KU, KState and MU with no where to go if Texas schools bolt for the PAc10. For most of my life, this was the heart of so much good Big8/Big12, now the radio stations are talking about this being college flyover country..... why the hell we werent out trying to build the Big 12 instead we back ourselves into a corner to hunker down and defend ourselves.,...good job Dan Beebe.
  22. don't know about you, but for me this is a sureal moment. At 43, I have followed this team since I was a baby. living across the street from Bob Devaney and our extended family owning the Big Red shop across the street from the stadium for years and having been to games all over the big 8 and big 12. I am going to deeply miss the Big12 conference schools. I am going to miss leavng KC and getting to a game inside 3 hours anywhere in the North. While I am very excited about our future, I will deeply miss places and all the fun I have had in placed like Ames, Manhattan, Lawrence, Columbia. And I wish them and their fans all the luck in the world.
  23. Dumb question I know.....but it has been reported in the past that Bo "struggled" with preparing for Ohio state in the NC because of his ties to Ohio State...I wonder if this potential move to the Big 10, err new Big 12, or whatever is going to happen has some funky wrinkle for him, playing against all those old Big 10 foes, and more importantly Ohio State. I would think Playing against all but Ohio state would make him more competitive, but would playing against Ohio State and him being more in contact with Ohio state have some long term ramifiacation for when the Vest retires or gets run out of there after NU starts winning Big 10 Championships.... We will not always have T.O. here to bail us out and Bo forever, but it just makes me wonder...
