  1. Paul has been one of our biggest playmakers this year. Coaches just to get him consistent and to focus. He is not the bubble screen guy as much as they may like to try. Send him deep and he is fine, end arounds, etc.
  2. Oddly enough, he seems to be the consistent weak link in all 3 losses. His inability to hit wide open guys or even adequately lead passes on crossing patterns is staggering. His passes are consistently high as well. If he is truly 6'2" 215lbs, then he is one of the weakest runners I have seen in ages. I also don't buy that he is one of our faster guys either. I still actually think he probably suffers from the same malady that affected Rick Ankiel as I have no other explanation.
  3. I really think this guy suffers from the same thing that did in Rick Ankiel from tha Cardinals. I have no other explanation for why this guy can't seem to throw or spiral or hit wide open guy. Advanced case of the Yips.
  4. The same people that comprise "they".
  5. A simple analogy to help you through this.. I can coach you all day long on the proper use and placement of an apostrophe. I CANNOT control your use and placement(or lack thereof) of an apostrophe as you post. Think of coaching and performance in that context. Okay, correct me if I am wrong. You are saying that the coaches can only coach, and motivate the players, but they cannot make the plays on the field. However, (playing devils advocate), if you do a terrible job coaching up my usage of an apostrophe would you expect me to be able to use it properly? No, you would not, so I don't think you can reasonably exonerate the coaches from the product that is on the field. This being said, I don't think you can definitively lay a significant amount of blame on the coaches, because as you say, they cannot make the plays on the field. That part is up to the players. You would be correct. Sometimes the player just isn't up to par, regardless of what you teach him. We tend to act as if the coaches are teaching these guys to panic under pressure, create motion penalties, drop balls that are on target, etc. It's just not the case. Every team lays a dog turd at some point. This explains how USC loses to an unranked Pac 10 team every year when they are a prohibitive favorite. Can you imagine our fanbase if that happened to us each year??? What is unexplainable is when a coach leaves a player in that continually messes up(Paul) and continues to sit a guy that seems to make plays(Brooks). I don't care what a guy does in practice if it doesn't translate to the game.

  7. Doesn't matter. He will be needed this year and will play plenty.
  8. Are you sure it's asthma and not allergies? I was told for 4 years my 6(now) had asthma and I continually denied it. No treatment worked and he would cough until puking. Finally got tired of it after he had pneumonia twice and I took him to Jewish Hospital in Denver specializing in children's respiratory issues. Doc said no asthma, his issues are allergy induced. Came off asthma meds and onto daily claritin...not a single problem 1 year and counting. Asthma is the Family Physicians answer to anything.
  9. we have more than enough TEs. ...because we have two good prospects in cotton and reed that will be two classes ahead of him? i think we can find room. we need a good TE in this class. We are in on Chase Harper at TE .....who would also be two classes ahead of any freshman that comes in and redshirts (and i can't imagine many tight ends are physically ready to block as true freshmen). recruiting is not really about your roster the following year, or even the year after that, it's about 3-5 years down the road. I guess that makes Chase being a 3/3 guy that much better. Aren't we redshirting the hotshot from San Diego also? He was our top choice last year.
  10. What about converting Alonso Whaley or Dontravius Robinson to DE to get more quick athletes there? If not them, then others. The point being that even if we cannot score the DE we need, we do have the ability to make a DE from people currently at other positions. Whaley, in particular, is a reasonable candidate. Yeah I was thinking the same about Whaley, though it looks like Robinson is at RB for good. Maybe Fisher grows into a DE role in a year or two? Agreed on Fisher too. He could be a fine De one would think. Leave Fisher. He will be a freak LB if he keeps his speed.
  11. yes, and maybe some existing ones as well if the weight gain is there.
  12. Not really an insult here...but this comes from a fan base that supports a team that had their best RB sporting a 0.00 GPA(if memory serves Byron Hanspard). Is it that Rex is a little too above board for y'all(if I used that correctly)?
  13. I'm pretty sure all of the O Coaches have a say in the game plan. It isn't just Watson in a room making stuff up. He may like to do some things differently but injuries, weather or, unfortunately, personnel just don't permit it. Play the hand you're dealt as best you can. This O Line has not proven to be dominant(I expect spelling kudos) so that is certainly a big factor as well.
  14. Sean Robinson is the better option anyway for the direction we need to be heading. If Gabbert leaves, and hopefully he does, Robinson will come on. Robinson is a big, fast guy and brings a better running threat as well.
  15. Everyone seems to have bad experiences somewhere. I've been going to the CU game out here in Colorado since about 1991 with no issues to speak of. Although, I show up and watch, I don't spout off....except in '07 when I was screaming at all the fans leaving that they could remember this game everytime they dialed the phone and their local agea code 30-3. I did get the students a little riled up as well when I asked when they started running a buffalo herd out instead of just Ralphie when their cheerleaders came out. Caught a couple of finger waves from the cheer squad for that remark.
  16. I agree with the Power I, however, it was my understanding that Lee's thumb does not allow him to go under center every play. Many factors come in to play here. I'm also not sure Helu was in the proper shape to hammer all night..so to speak. I think Wats had to really pick his spots.
  17. This is silly. Last year we couldn't run on them. What makes anyone think this year would be different? Last year, most said throw the damn ball...now run the damn ball. Good thing we didn't run or we wouldn't have had as much clock left, I guess. Bottom line is....we ran when it counted and were able to do so. The Mizz weakness was their Secondary. Do you not want to go after their weak spot? How many times may a run have been called and Lee checked out?
  18. Well, considering you have been one of the Coaches biggest critics in the recruiting game, I'm guessing you didn't anticipate this. Ummm . . . yeah. You were the one saying we weren't recruiting well. Now you saw it coming the whole time? Edit: Now Tyler Moore (2011) probable 5 star OL out of Florida . . . with a Florida offer!!! This staff can't recruit. The sky is falling! Etc. Good day to be a Husker. Moore is a 5 star now but when he officially commits, he will fall to a 3 star and the "lack of 5 star, we can't recruit talk" will start.
  19. ahhemm.. CHASE ROME... Seriously. Did anybody NOT see this one coming??? Great pickup though. I'm stoked. Well, considering you have been one of the Coaches biggest critics in the recruiting game, I'm guessing you didn't anticipate this.
  20. People tend to bang on Watson a little too much. Maybe it's warranted but I thought I read where all of the O staff has a say in the O gameplan. Short of not running that stoooopid stretch play so often when the box is stacked, I'm not sure what else they should do diferently besides run plays that require man on man blocks. Mizz does deserve a little credit here as well as the conditions. That's why games are 60 min and not 45.
  21. Probably a weather factor more than anything in this instance. I remember a Monday Night Football game 'twixt the Broncos and the Pack when it was snowing and Elway couldn't throw the ball. It kept slipping out of his hand. Announcers couldn't believe he ahd played so long in Denver and this just came up. Elway said he had small hands and had trouble gripping wet balls:). Go figure. The next road game will tell more.
  22. One thing I really like is you don't hear the coaches constantly saying how it is a tough place to play, etc... I hated that with Solich and Callahan. I always thought it hurt the team psychologically.
  23. I got worried and tried to do the math. I don't think it was possible, at least I hope not.
