  1. My question is why this game is on classic. What is so special about it. Oklahoma was having a "down" year, and we all know where we were.
  2. Like the year Neuhisel brought the CU down to the field thru the students section, that was supposed to be some big new tradition, and funny how he did it just a few days after claiming he was trying to calm down the nu cu week. Places like Colorado have to start new traditions cuz they have no tradition. Colorado? they really only have 1 win they have to claim fame from.
  3. And dont think for one minute that Big 10 wouldnt want NU when it comes to a fan market. The way we travel. Not to mention it would be monumental in football to pair with the likes of Penn St. (course it be better if we wouldnt have to go to that toilet every other year), Michigan, and Ohio St. as opposed to Missouri, Colorado and Kansas St.
  4. For one, we're not North Carolina. We're Nebraska. We dont need to televise our practices for the sake of publicity (don't kid yourself, that's all it's for). I know a lot of top programs have their games televised, but i just dont understand the point. It's no different than NFL preseason games on tv or spring training baseball on tv. It's a practice. No ifs ands or buts, and frankly, i'm very glad our coaches dont want our "practice" on national tv or internet or whatever it is.
  5. If we're talking strictly CFB, then I agree. But sports in general, and I say what the UCONN women's basketball program has done over the past 2 seasons has been done without a slip up. Yes they had a sloppy half last night, but they came out and dominated that 2nd half. That's what great teams do. I had a feeling that would come up. Yes, i was addressing football only. Personally, i dont think there is a program in any sport that can challenge what Uconn is doing in womens basketball. What they are doing by not only winning, but winning handely every game is playstation stuff. It's ridiculous.
  6. Were there injuries that year? I can only remember the Phillips suspension, which was major, but the QB injuries were 1994. Or is that what you are talking about, heavy focus from a team that had made it past an injury plagued season. Clinton Childs had one against AZST, Benning had one against Pacific, which is what opened the door for Green. I guess injuries were'nt to rampid, but there was an off field incident prior too and throughout the early part of the season involving Riley Washington, and another one with Damon Benning. I think Christian Peter had a situation at one point in time, add that to Phillips and injuries to the #2 and 3 backs in a run first offense, and it was quite tumultuous. Other great teams cant be that dominant with a clean slate.
  7. The fact that there was not one slip-up throught the whole season. A 35-21 win agains WSU was the closest game of the year, and if it wasnt nearly as close as the score. With all the went on that year off the field and injuries, the focus was so high that there was a complete dominance in all three phases week in and week out. Even the greatest of teams had games they either lost or nearly lost. How many years in a row now has USC been permanantly put up on a pedestal to start the year, then they endup crappin their pants against a nobody. Say what you want about the talent level and not showin up and so on, but the truly great teams dont pull that crap. Name any of the greatest teams and we could find that one slip up in their season, 95 Nebraska? none.
  8. First off, if she's from Colorado there's pretty much nothin you can do. Joking aside, there's not much if anything at all that isnt enjoyable about gameday in Lincoln.
  9. I guess I just dont understand how a surgery requiring injury to the elbow on his throwing arm is not what caused many if not all of Zac's struggles last year. After knowing of that injury and looking back on a lot of film, it's easy to understand that he simply had no confidence in making a lot of throws. Not to mention, the offense's issues went far far beyond quarterback play, tho it did start there. Zac Lee will be the starter, he has the experience, he will be healthy for fall to hold his position, he will have better backs, receivers, and line around him, and he will be fine. And if this is so, Cody does make some serious improvement, i think it would be a seroius thought to redshirting green in order to get 3 years with him as most likely a future starter.
  10. Anyone else here about Sippel's report of the Big 12 Title being awarded to us last night due to crooked refs on Sports Nightly? Yeah, so i have relatives that are actually adament that this is true.
  11. Anyone find it a bit ominous that our defense is named after a Latin American currency that is worth essentially nothing in a country that is in the economic toilet? Couldnt we have called the the quarter, or the silver dollar?
  12. Stupid, just stupid. There are april fools jokes, then there is just plain stupidity. This comes merely months after a study revealed Texas as the most profitable athletic program in the country.
  13. Yeah, that was pretty bad, then the missed travel call, that's why i cant hardly bare to watch basketball, officials just have way to much to do with the outcome, more than any other sport. It's just a joke now, at all levels, with the huge lack in officiating consistency.
  14. they finally hit the hole in the road. The Big 12 is a great conference in women's basketball, but let's face, we're not exactly the most athletic team there is, and the SEC is the most athletically gifted conference in the country, in about every sport, and it's showin right now. It's not missed shots and x's and o's, it's just simple speed kills, it looks like high school vs jr high at times. but theyre workin and I have some belief that maybe Kentucky-with their foul trouble-will run themselves out of gas by the 6-7 minute mark, then maybe we can make a late run, IF we keep it under 15
  15. very true Amen, it's still a TEAM sport
  16. Hype and anticipation are two different things. This much aniticipation was probably there for both the 2006 and 07 seasons, but this much hype AND aniticipation, you would probably have to go back to 2000 with a preseason #1 ranking and a super offensive lineup coming off a very strong end to 99.
  17. I'm just asking for an explanation on how the NCAA womens tournament settings are determined, how #1 Nebraska has to go to Minnesota, but #2 Notre Dame, #3 Oklahoma, and #4 Iowa St. all got to play home games. Very curious as to why this is and how it is determined.
  18. Although you "MIGHT" have a point, 31-1 overall, 17-1 in the Big 12 (considered the best women's conference by many) speaks more than just "coaching". Are they as good as Uconn, probably not (led Temple 46-11 at one time tonight), but they are as good as everyone else?
  19. That Herbie picture needs to be used in all representation of the university from here on out, imagine abc puttin that logo up next to a gay M of Missouri or the Uteri of Texas. B A D A $ $
  20. I dont understand why Allen's and Turner's play was at all dissappointing last year. Because they didnt play book ends like wistrom and tomich and just fly up the field against an offense that was gonna throw down field 40 times a game? The offenses of today are different, and they were probably coached to play a more read-react type of scheme. How many times did Turner and/or Allen disrupt screens, draws, and any sort of zone running plays.
  21. no no NO!!. Not happening. Traditional powers just dont change.
  22. Just more speculation from the media cause there's nothin better to talk about except the NBgay or hockey. Suh's goin top 2, why not 1, I'll never know if he so goes 2.
  23. someone needs to just explain to me what the hell a wonderlic is, never heard of it.
