  1. My preferred setup for future schedules would look something like this: - 8 Conference games - 1 Group of 5 game (preferably within the higher tier of G5 teams: UCF, USF, Memphis, etc) - 2 mid-tier Power 5 games (Colorado, Kansas State, UCLA, Ole Miss, etc) - 1 high-tier Power 5 game (Oklahoma, Washington, Oregon, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Virginia Tech, etc) No more FCS teams and no more lower-tier Group of 5 teams.
  2. If I have it correct, rumors are that Bo, Carl and a state trooper lured a prominent message board poster (not from here) into the basement of the Cornhusker Hotel and berated him over some of the things he was posting online, right before going to the stadium for the game.
  3. '99 would have easily been a title. Maybe 2000 or 2001, too.
  4. Before we do a deep dive into Bo Pelini's Worst Losses, some housecleaning: - Mike Riley's Best Win: witih 75% of the vote, 2015 Michigan State won, handily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQkxAOcshOQ&t=2s - Mike Riley's Worst Loss: Northern Illinois, with 47% of the vote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h13lUNsFGf4 Now that we've looked at Riley's best wins and worst losses, and Pelini's best wins, let's take a look at some of the worst losses during the Bo Pelini era at Nebraska. Game 1 - 2009 Iowa State: 8 turnovers. 7 points. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. #Ugh - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=292970158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnAdPXjXksw Game 2 - 2010 Texas: Cornhusker Hotel incident or not, the buildup to this game lead to one of the biggest disappointments in program history. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=302890158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ciqf7MYTByY (mute this; awful music) Game 3 - 2012 Wisconsin 2: Bo's best chance at a conference championship blew up in the team's face. Melvin Gordon Nightmare part 1. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=323360275 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhD8DiDJhP0 Game 4 - UCLA 2013: Up 21-10 at halftime, and the Bruins roar back for 28 unanswered in the 3rd quarter. Still my favorite alternate uniforms, though. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=332570158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VxZ8UapqMY Game 5 - Wisconsin 2014: Melvin Gordon Nightmare part 2. 16.32 yards per carry. Nebraska was up 17-3 at one point. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400547974 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZM-nmPHYyo Voting will be open for a week, and if there is a game which you think fits the bill better, please vote "Other" and describe it in a post. Thanks!
  5. Was that the week before or after Texas?
  6. I voted for '09 Oklahoma, but Rex's juke in the OSU game almost made me vote for it.
  7. Not a bad choice; MSU was #11 at the time, and we held them to 3 points. Leveon Bell only had 58 yards rushing, and Kirk Cousins was held in check as well.
  8. Last week, we looked at the best wins and worst losses during the Mike Riley era of Nebraska football. It sparked some good discussion, and we have 3 and a half more months of the offseason, so this week, let's take a look back and discuss the best wins of the Bo Pelini era. This list wasn't as difficult as the Riley list was, since there were actually more than two quality wins to pick from. Game 1- 2009 Oklahoma: one of the most dominant defensive performances in program history. A nice response to the thrashing we took in 2008 - ESPN Summary: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=293110158 - Youtube highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iITLr4V0X10 Game 2 - 2010 Kansas State: the national reveal of Taylor Martinez. Absolutely crushed KSU in prime time on a Thursday night. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=302802306 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVI64Yih2Ug&t= Game 3 - 2011 Ohio State: helped by an injury to Braxton Miller, the offense answered the bell in the 2nd half, and it includes one of my absolute favorite Rex Burkhead moments. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=312810158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD3Zzbm8xKA&t= Game 4 - 2012 Wisconsin 1: Another comeback on national TV. Ignore the uniforms and marvel at the backfield combo of Martinez, Burkhead and a young Ameer Abdullah. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=322730158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXqAbjsJRzI Game 5 - Miami 2014: "Bloodthirsty" is the best way I can describe this game. We FINALLY got Miami in Memorial Stadium, and the old girl (and the team) rose to the occasion. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400547789 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qdiH53SzOY Voting will be open for a week, and if there is a game which you think fits the bill better, please vote "Other" and describe it in a post. Thanks!
  9. The absolute best part of that is that Cook went out and coached his team to a national title, and Diaco got overwhelmed by the Strain.
  10. His promotion of the "best coach on campus" still makes me laugh.
  11. I don't disagree, but now we have 2 reasons to get rid of them, ah, ah, ah.
  12. ....wouldn't have scored a damn point against any of the four presented
  13. Get rid of the blackshirts, too. And those camo jerseys that the baseball team wears. And sorry, liberos on the volleyball team; gotta find a new color.
  14. There's only one reason that someone could legitimately want Ty Lue coaching at Nebraska, and it isn't his coaching acumen.
  15. The Prop 48 rule sounds like a good comparison. Is he allowed any contact with the team while he's under academic redshirt?
  16. You have Miles Jones and Tyjon Lindsey who will be used out of the backfield as well.
  17. Well, Luke Fickell coaches there, so they might have some feelings about Cincinnati.
  18. TO wasn't needed; just get better gloves for the Texas game, and that's another Sear's Trophy.
  19. I was born in 1984, so that checks out. I'm also of the mind that the '99 defense is, at least, top 3 in school history.
  20. File this under "Things that make you go hmmm"
  21. If the Big Ten were to ever go two 8 team divisions, OU would probably be at the top of the board for expansion. A West Division with Wisconsin, Oklahoma and a capable Nebraska would rival what the East is doing with Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.
  22. If that isn't an indictment on the Riley Era, I don't know what is.
  23. Kevin Dillman is still one of the weirdest recruiting stories I can remember at DONU.
