  1. Man...am I PUMPED when I hear these stories!!! OK...my favs... Joining my buddies on gameday and talking NOTHIN but Huskers!...drinking beer when we're winning, anything red when it's close...and only tequila when we're behind HATING that 11a.m. kickoff...but STILL waking up and drinking with above, starting around 8a.m. (ahh...college, come back!!! ) Opening the garage door, sit in the deck chair drinking coffee and reading the LJS on the day's game, listening to all the neighbor's radios chime with pre-game, and feel the neighborhood electricity. Exchanging stories, comparing notes, sharing drinks, and having fun with opposing fans downtown...and knowing they're there BECAUSE that's how we are and how we respect others...and because I want the same when I visit the same opposing fans in THEIR territory. Watching the other good games going on that day, and discussing how it affects Nebraska. ESPN College Gameday...sadly, about the only thing I like about ESPN anymore Calling my dad an discussing the game with him afterwards. GO BIG RED!
  2. "Actually, I think Montana was the loudest place I've ever played," Knox said. "I never expected to be playing at Nebraska. It won't be mind-blowing." Knox is a safety/linebacker for Maine. Maybe Nebraska needs to change his mind for him, huh?
  3. Does anyone have any video on Glenn? I've heard he's been impressive since practices begain, up until Ross had been declared to have the upper hand at this point (big shocker )
  4. That works for me... Hopefully, we have about 100 other players with that SAME mindset
  5. Definitely TT; SERIOUS bone to pick....they're in our house this year, and I am seriously P*SSED about last year! OU I expected...yeah, I want to beat them, but I'm not goin crazy about it...it will depend on how we look going into that game. KSU... seriously...stay home...don't even bother. Thanks. BTW...great recruiting class, White Zombie. Want to watch a 'great' QB urinate on himself on national TV? Punt out of the shotgun on 1st and 2nd down? 9/17 OH...I want to COMPLETELY level ISU...I don't care who the h*ll they think they are or who their coach is or who their asst. coach is...I hope their freaking QB has to get a hearing aid fitted after the game...Oh...that's right...his ears will be protected with COTTON all game I am SO sick of thinking we have to 'accomodate' teams that come in to Lincoln anymore...cheer for them, clap at their 'efforts', etc. I love sportsmanship as much as the next Husker fan, but we are now getting WALKED over...at HOME...time to get off our *sses, start screaming, and show our team we give a sh*t more about them playing 300% than the other idiots walking in and taking props away from us while we play 50% and they earn NOTHING and we APPLAUD them for it. I have NO PROBLEM clapping for a team that wins on the scoreboard...whether it is NU or whoever the Huskers play...but I better leave thinking I am also proud of the effort Nebraska gave. BTW...NU '94 vs FSU is one of the most proud moments I've ever had...that team won my heart...that was all that mattered. I'm OUT...bring on the ---->
  6. I like it! Thanks for the pics!
  7. Ummm... Did they explain what this meant??
  8. Two college buddies get drunk, insult each other's girls start yelling and swinging pass out, wake up next day laugh at each other's injuries hang out, repeat previous evening. Of COURSE that isn't funny. That's college guy life!!!
  9. That'd be cool...wouldn't be too hard to add, would it?
  10. Look for #20 jerseys to start flying off the shelves as the year progresses...
  11. 2 things are certain: Lucky will play early, probably Maine Beck will play within the first half of the season, if not sooner Callahan wanted great recruits for a reason...get them game experience as soon as possible so that they would develop fast. He acknowledges that the offense is complex and tough to learn, and that is why Beck might have to wait longer. But if Maine pans out the way it should, don't be shocked to see both of them out on the field.
  12. Thanks, Tom, for that grrreaat article. I think I'm also going to look forward to a new Vietnam war, or the Black Plague returning. I pisses me off that these "writers" have nothing better to do than tear down the coach by bringing in last year's references going into fall practice in just two weeks. Yep, that's what I'm looking forward to. Not a new season filled with excitement and enthusiasm, but with Shatel basically saying, Expect this season to look like last season. Don't attend the games, or watch them expecting anything different. Cally can't change, and there's been an "omen" already in place. The End. Look, NOBODY really knows how BC will pan out. But he currently represents the best program in college football, and I am definitely willing to put last year aside and let him lead the Huskers the best way he can. Not listen to *ssclown writers shoot the season and Huskers down before they even get started. *deposits $.02 and runs out ducking flying Soliches*
  13. Oh Geez...ok, I'll follow. The thing with Taylor is yeah, he'll probably have some gitters to work out, and may not be crisp out of the gate. But he has SO much more potential. Dailey DID have a year under his belt, even if it wasn't in the same offense. What stuck out in my mind (I attended both spring games) is that after you throw out coverages (virtually nil both years) and Taylor's throws were beautiful. You just got the feeling that our receivers will at least have a chance to catch balls with Taylor most every time, not watching them bounce in front of them, or soaring 10 feet over their head into the hands of the opposing team. So to answer your question, Taylor will NOT be anything like Dailey. And even if I'm wrong, some guy named Beck would love to jump in.
  14. Colorado St., I respect Sonny's program..or why the H E double hockey sticks not get OU as a non-conference conference game the years we are NOT scheduled with them? Is that legal in the Big 12? That would be sweet! I hate ND, sign those pansies up every year too.
  15. Bump...anything current, or will no one no for sure until fall camp?
  16. Hey H4L; I agree with your comment about the "vanilla" offense. I really think Callahan has to experiment and be creative with his offense and find what will work with the players he has. But that does take some time. And that is what we, as fans, will have to give him for him to have a fair shake at it. There was a difference with TO running the same "vanilla" plays: They would work eventually, or the opponent would be so tired from stopping it after 2 or 3 quarters, they just didn't have the energy to continue doing it. So that is what Callahan will have to search for. Find what works with who he has, and be creative at the same time. I don't really agree with your "insubordination" comment. In Oakland, I can't imagine having to deal with high-priced egos every day. And with NU, well, I look at it this way: Say what you want to about Solich, but these players all developed a relationship with him on some level. Imagine being miles away from home, and the man you looked to for insight and leadership was suddenly your coach, not your dad, if you even had one. Then someone told you, I'm sorry, your "dad" is no longer wanted here, here is a new one. Follow him instead. That would probably be alot to ask. I doubt Cally could do alot about that type of situation with many of the players. Just my $.02
  17. Man...that is a LONG way to travel!!! 1,737 miles?!?
  18. If I really had anything to say to Cally, I guess it'd be to develop the COLLEGE gameplan. Be flexible. Take a chance when no one is expecting it. Be conservative when everyone is expecting something wild. Develop strengths to develop weaknesses. Stay unpredictable. Enjoy and learn from every play and every game.
  19. At first I didn't like it, but it's starting to grow on me each time I see it. It will be interesting when it's all finished. I am sure many will say it is throwing away more tradition (even thought it was used with the Bobfather), but is there really alot left anyway?
  20. I just put in the league info and password into the Department of Defense website, and no fantasy football there, but it DID tell me what REALLY happened at Roswell...and yes, they are arresting me in a few minutes
  21. Did anyone listen to Travis Justice this morning? He made his prediction of the Big 12 North (with NU 3rd ). Then it came up that the winner could essentially be drawn out of a hat with the state the North is in. So they decided to do THAT on the air. Lo and behold, the name they pulled out to win the North was Nebraska! If I remember correctly, Colorado and ISU followed, and Mizzou was last. (does it really matter what order KU and KSU was??) I am just excited that there is a solid chance that a hat is smarter than Trav!
  22. Do you think we need to win that game or just play them close? Hmm...good question Kramer. I think the win vs. USC in '07 definitely puts us on the right track. A hard fought, close loss still gives us a shot, but there are ALOT of variables: 1)There will be at least two NCO's before that game. One hasn't been scheduled. Going to Wake in Winston-Salem should not be considered a lock. 2)How solid the Big 12 is that year. 3)How everyone else does that year. 4)And the biggie, HOW GOOD IS USC AFTER THEY PLAY US, lose or win? If we'd still want a shot after a close loss to them, we better hope USC goes undefeated. Those will be determining factors. But, obviously, way too early to figure on anything. But intriguing none the same.
  23. If there is one certainty in the North, it is that Pinkel is under HUGE scrutiny to get Smith more involved in what Smith does best...If he can utilize that similar to two years ago, they may be tough, esp. vs. us at home...otherwise, Pinkel better have a good retirement plan going on. I really don't see any other big time pressures in the Big 12 schools in the north: NU- Cally would have to tank 8 games to see any shot at the door, and that WON'T happen, and it still wouldn't happen. ISU- Too much promise and slow building to rock that boat KU- See ISU KSU- $ Billy OWNS that school. Nuff said. Also see PSU, sad state of. CU- The Buffs won the North last year. That sad fact will save Gary for at least the next year. So IMHO, it will be between NU, ISU, and CU, with Mizzou as a wild card, depending on which B.Smith is allowed to show up. Schedule definitely favors us. Happy 4th everyone! Time to go start the grill!
  24. If we can pull off the USC game in Lincoln, then we will have a good shot in '07. Otherwise, I have no idea. This year should tell us alot about where Cally is taking us...'06 could be make or break for him...I hope the year under his belt sets him down the right path...
