  1. So, is Bo going to wait until the second half to put him in or is he just going to start him?
  2. How about an arrow pointing to the right or left (I'm with stupid style) and says: "This guy spit on Jared Sullinger"
  3. Maybe he meant it negatively, as in, "You have no idea how bad a #8 team can lose to a #7 team." Jokes aside, I like the confidence, but there isn't much to be gained by saying this. I don't think the national media is expecting a huge margin of victory, are they? Either way, that small phrase can add a lot of pressure.
  4. In 2010, run-first Big 10 teams averaged 38.8 attempts per/g, while pass first Big 12 teams 38.7 attempts per/g. Over the total course of the season, Big 10 teams combined averaged 465 attempts between them, Big 12 teams averaged 472. The physicalness of the Big 10 yielded an average of 6 more ypg rushing then the Big 12, 178 ypg to 171 ypg.
  5. "Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left."
  6. That's Marlowe's foot on the left? On the left is #31 from Wash.
  7. It's the best pic I could get. It looks like it hit the Washington player first.
  8. It might be polk, and the only reason I say that is because I think our rushing attack might be very balanced this week. I've seen on message boards that UW's outside backers and secondary is just awful, so maybe Beck will try to expose that with outside runs with Abdullah and Green. Just a thought.
  9. ... You're missing the point here. I was questioning why change what worked so well last year. I am completely aware of the lack of experience at corner right now, but this decision was made before a certain hamstring injury. But you go on, thinking I have absolutely no right to post my opinions on an internet forum...
  10. You mean beyond, I don't know, being hired by Pelini? Obviously Pelini sees something in him. Would you rather listen to a civil engineer about building a bridge, or a homeless person that lives underneath them? It's the exact same thing. That homeless person MIGHT be right and that civil engineer MIGHT be wrong, but hey, the betting man says the engineer is right and the hobo is wrong. Being hired by Pelini semi last minute after the predecessor was unexpectedly gone. You didn't really tell the whole story with your engineer/hobo analogy. "Would you rather listen to a civil engineer whose bridge is collapsing, killing several people about building a bridge , or a homeless person that lives underneath them?"
  11. ... What did I do not warrant respect? I don't see what the professional has done to gain anyones...
  12. Worked pretty well for Malcolm Jenkins a few years ago.
  13. I wouldn't say Compton looked bad. More than a few of his tackles were right around the LOS. He didn't look extremely range-y, but he did fairly well in the a-gap. Fish has yet to impress me. He really has a 35/65 chance of making an open field tackle. The thing is, he's a great spill-player, allowing David and Compton to rack up 15 tackles each.
  14. I've read that before, but why? We were so successful last year, boasting the best secondary in the nation. There was a recipe for success, and Raymond is changing it.
  15. Last year, our corners were up on the line, jamming anyone and everyone, throwing off timing and allowing pressure up front. This year, we're playing off, allowing every short yardage pass possible. I'm ok when a dragging receiver outruns Compton for a first down, or even if there's a jump ball, but when the offense gets 8-12 yards per pass, the defense is going to give up points and even more yards. The gameplan may change when Dennard comes back, but the technique and philosophy of the corners isn't cutting it.
  16. I've never made a post about him, but holy crap Barney. This is awful.
  17. Agreed 100%. We probably could have put up 60 or 70 Saturday, but why waste an opportunity for the young oline to get some practice?
  18. Washington Post While it is worrisome that the line didn't get a good push, it doesn't help when the defense knows what's coming. Beck will have learned from his mistakes (hopefully) and this sort of problem won't arise. Also, looking back at the highlights, the line does have some very good plays.
  19. Offense looks worse than last year? OH. Really? Wow. We scored 40 points. 40. Yea it was Chattanooga, and FCS opponent. How did our offense fair against the FCS South Dakota State last year, when you said the offense was better? 17. 17 points with an offense that had a few games behind it already. This was the first game ever for some of the oline. That statement was just idiotic. For comparison sake, we scored 49 points in our opening game last season against West. Kentucky. SDSU had a good game plan and showed every team how to stop us last year. Contain Martinez and we have an opportunity to win. Just look at what Texas did the next week to us, pretty much the same thing as SDSU, shut down Martinez and make him pass. And our receivers couldn't catch the ball bc we are a "running" team. That is why Marlowe is on the field, bc he can block, it is not bc he has play making ability at the WR position. Chattanooga had a good gameplan. I mean really it can't get any better when it comes to scheming. 8-9 guys in the box should stop the ground game. It didn't. SDSU stopped us last year because we just weren't that good. Martinez didn't want to step up. No reliable receivers. Roy and Rex were boggled down by an inconsistent oline (still a problem) and no passing threat. This year, I believe those issues will be resolved. Really? Bc 7 days prior to that game, I remember scoring 56 points on Washington...And for the most part -3 plays, they did shut down our run game with 8-9 guys in the box. And if they had that many in the box, don't you think we would have been able to pass it on them all game long? If we can't even pass against UTC when they had 2 or 3 guys in their secondary (you said they had 9 guys in the box, so that would make 2 players in their secondary) how are we going to do it against Wiscy and tOSU? If they put 8 guys in the box and stop our run, the game is over, period. This is what I was talking about earlier this week, being balanced. teams well sell out to stop the run against us all year long and if we can't pass, we will not win very many games. If we keep teams honest with a legitimate passing threat, it will open up the run game and teams will not be able to out 8-9 guys in the box for fear we will pass it over the top. Yea, this team sold out and what happened? I know what you're saying. We won't be able run the ball against osu and msu and wiscy if they have 8 in the box. But I honestly think Beck was giving the oline practice. I bet when we play Fresno we'll see a lot more passing, hopefully on first down. If not, well honestly that's a playcalling fault, not oline problems or qb problems.
  20. I asked myself the same question. I think part of it might have something to do with practicing the option and the run with our new oline. If we can get 7 in the box, we should see good improvement with our run blocking.
