  1. i think you answered your own question. Yes. Yes I did. But feel free to expand upon that answer...
  2. Completely agree, but 2011 doesn't really consist of a bunch of project QBs. Turner is one, but the 2011 QB recruiting picture isn't necessarily complete yet. Suntrup is a more proto QB and there were rumblings from him earlier, but don't know if we're still in on him. Ship may have sailed with Cody, but I hope Darian is still in the mix, as others have said. I don't think we go after Suntrup anymore. He is not what we need for our new offense. I say we find another dual threat/spread guy with similar talents that Green and Turner have.
  3. wah waaaaaah. Be optimistic! Everything will work out! Well it's official on Rivals as tonight... Carnes is officially WKU's.
  4. Yeah okay... it gives us 2 days... Fajardo just committed to Nevada. NU has been horrible at building a relationship with Godfrey and Coulter is committed to his school as well. Who is left that we have a relationship with and can give Carnes' scholie to? I can think of 2 players OT Denton Simek and the DB/WR/RB out of California that we gave a verbal offer to last week.
  5. If you can use internet then just go here. It will literally be on here 20 seconds after they commit to a school. I don't think it will take that long lol Yeah there will be huskerboard freaks who will post it immediately... give it 3 maybe 4 seconds.
  6. That is what the teaser would indicate, and what my friends who have subscriptions are telling me. I have a feeling he committed and wanted it to be silent until he announces on Wed. But My guess is that someone from WKU let it leak out, Carnes was trying to cover, and then just threw the towel in and said what the heck and made it public.
  7. Oh I think you need to take 2 QB one year and then 1 the next and rotate recruiting seasons in that way. That way you always have 6 ready to go and 1-2 red shirted. This will improve the competition and half of those QB's are guaranteed to never develop and head out of town for another school... which would give us more guys to choose from and would really weed out the mediocre QB's from the amazing QB's.
  8. I hate to be a debbie downer but i'm scared that Owa is going to OSU, Cooper is going to ND or Illinois, and Carnes is going to WKU. *gulp*
  9. I realize there's is time for him to qualify, all I was saying is that it would be the only reason we drop him from our 2010 class. Rather than taking a chance on him, especially with Jamal already committed for 2011, we might be able to snag an O Lineman. That being said I think the article was debunked quickly, and disregarded as all false, especially since it was released Brion decided to end his streak of not answering phone calls just to put the rumor to bed that he committed. I think it is imperative that we take a QB this year. We really need to develop for next year when Lee and Washington leave. All we will have is Green, possibly Spano, possibly Martinez, and Jamal Turner if he sticks it out and is good enough to not have to RS. If we don't take one in this year's class then I see us potentially being dangerously thin for 2011.
  10. I hate to say this but in the end... Momma and comfort always win. He might just choose Oregon State...
  11. Carnes still has plenty of time to make grades. Eric Martin signed and then had to take summer school to qualify but still made it here. He was borderline not qualifying. Besides, lets say he fails his SAT and ACT which he recently took... you can continue to retake them through April. He still has plenty of time to study and retake each.
  12. Rivals teaser indicates Carnes has not yet committed. I think he will still be N. That one newspaper in Florida put the article out and scout as well as huskerpedia jumped on board. Once again... it is dangerous to trust scout. Rivals has apparently talked directly with Carnes and Carnes has specifically stated that he has not yet committed and will sign and commit on Wednesday.
  13. Depth this year is going to go from 6OL players, to as many as 13OL players. Competition is going to double... I think we're going to see a dramatic difference at the OL position. Last year they started out learning a West Coast/Spread offense... I believe they have replaced the WC with the Option component now. So our OL last year had to begin learning a newer/simpler offense during the middle of the season last year. Now they have half of last year, a month off before the bowl, spring training, and 7on7's to learn this new stuff. All 3 of the new OL we are bringing in specialize in run blocking. You are going to see a MUCH improved run game this year, that will essentially open up the passing game more. I look for a lot of offensive improvement. Oh... and I predict Yoshi will play LT not RT... he will be a good blindside guy and will help Zach or Cody have more time to throw.
  14. As a general rule, one QB per year should be the goal. I've heard that NU will pursue two QB's for 2011 and since Turner has already pledged, it's likely they'll pursue another one as well. if we get carnes, i wouldn't expect us to take two next year, particularly when we apparently already got a top target in turner. i would hope though that we keep in touch with others just in case though. if we somehow don't get carnes, i'm less certain, though the presence of marsh in the '11 class makes it seem like we'll stand pat with turner. I think they need to go for 2 next year for a couple of reasons. 1. Right now we lack QUALITY depth at the QB position. We have a lot of guys, but only a few developed scholarship players who can actually compete (Washington, Lee, Green). I think NU would prefer to have more reliability, depth, and competition at this position. 2. We lose Washington and Lee next year. I realize that since we are not losing a QB this year that if we bring in 1 this year and 1 next year we would make up for that loss, but I think NU would like to have some more depth at this position and not just replenish this position. Here's some possible ways things would line up... 2010 Lee Sr Washington Sr Green So Martinez Fr Carnes (RSFr) 2010 (2) Lee Sr Washington Sr Green So Carnes (RSFr) Martinez converts to Safety 2011 Green Jr Martinez So Carnes Fr Turner (RSFr, or Fr) ***2011 (2) Green Jr Carnes Fr Turner (RSFr or Fr) Martinez is a Safety 2011 (3) Green Jr Martinez So Carnes Fr Turner (RSFr) *One more QB ***2011 (4) Green Jr Carnes Fr Turner (RSFr) *One more QB If Martinez converts to safety this year for playing time... see how thin we can get in 2011 if we only take one QB next year? I realize Kody Spano is not included here... but after 2 torn ACL's I just don't seem him coming back strong enough to compete for playing time. His lateral speed will be slow, and if we are running a true spread I don't see him fitting into it very well if he isn't fast and elusive. Also, if one of the guys mentioned above gets injured we become even more thin. Or if someone decides to transfer out... you see where this is going. With a possible 25 scholies to give next year I see us signing 2 quality dual threat/spread QB's. Turner is N, I expect another fast guy who doubles as a passer to be in too, especially if we win next year as predicted. Several universities like Texas take 2 or more QB's per year. Why wouldn't we take 2?
  15. What did they find out about his knee/rehab? It was my understanding they were investigating his injury situation and what they found out would determine whether we reoffered or not. I haven't heard anything regarding his injury situation. If he didn't clear I still think that the staff is either 1. confident they are going to get the big 3. or 2. Have someone ready to sign as a backup if one of the big 3 flakes (my guess is it would be cooper if anyone).
  16. I think we see something interesting unfold here. I think if one of the big 3 fail to sign on Wednesday, Simek gets a call from Nebraska and takes the remaining scholarship. I say this because there is a reason he has decommitted from TT and has not signed with anyone yet. Okie State seem to be saving a spot for him and from what I have heard from whispers, when he started looking around again NU was the first school he called up to see if he still had an offer. He is not in a rush to sign because of scholarships running out because TT still has plenty left with all their decommits, Okie State is saving him a spot because they want him... so it would make sense that he would wait out signing day, see if he gets a spot with NU, and then if not sign with Okie State or TT. I don't think the kid from California will get a call. If Simek turns us down for Okie State or Texas Tech, then I see the remaining scholie going to a walk on, or to Bronson Marsh. (Although since they offered him a greyshirt, I really think the staff is either (A) confident we will land all of the big 3, or (B) has a surprise on backup come signing day who is ready to pull the trigger (like Simek). If the staff KNEW they were going to lose out on one of the big 3, then Marsh would have been given a scholie for this year and not a greyshirt. The other thing is this. QB Cody Fajardo is quoted last week as saying "NU is pretty close to landing that other guy." This is right after Brion Carnes came for his Official visit and right before Pelini went down to his HS and family to see him. And Cody's statement comes right before USF yanks Carnes scholie and another QB commits, and right before WKU gets a QB commit. Pretty interesting how both of those schools got committed QB's right after Carnes visited NU and had an in home with our coaching staff. It's also interesting that Carnes set a 8am signing day signing time a couple of days after the NU in home. Owa will either go NU or UCLA. Cooper could do anything... I honestly believe that he still doesn't know what he wants and will probably decide early signing day morning. lol
  17. I'm pretty sure he is normal age (16-17) for a Junior in HS. He is still growing, in a free interview with AMP on Rivals I remember him stating he was 16 AND Andrew Green, who is normal age for a College freshman is his OLDER brother. There is no way he is 24.

  19. Awesome dude. Looks like you have this covered... I'll stop my list and just pay attention to yours from now on, no need for two!
  20. If signing day is on justintv... then i'll be watching it there. If it's not then I'll be tuning into the board/espn hoping to get filled in instantly.
