  1. You took the words right out of my mouth or fingers.
  2. Coaching. You can take exceptional coaching with marginal talent and be a good team. It is all about getting the most out of your players.
  3. Well, those kids were recruited to play in those offenses. Apples and oranges. Texas Tech has a new starter every year. Leach grooms each qb for 3 or 4 years before he starts them. This makes it very obvious that either: 1) you dont undstand English 2) You lie 3) You just dont pay attention. Did you even watch the game?? Switzer clearly stated as his parting shot (after stating how glad he was that he never had to play NU in the 90's) that TOs offense would still work today, the problem is that no coaches are desciples of it. I have the tape on film. Get copy. You're flat out wrong. I seem to remember some sort of interview during the game. It had 2 former coaches. One of the coaches said that NU could use some of the plays out of the other coaches' playbook. I think that a coach said that NU could sure use some of the players from the 1995 team.
  4. my dad was like that too. stormed around the house with a p*ssed at the world when Nebraska lost. he's mellowed with age. he just throws his hands-up and walks away from the TV when the silly stuff starts happening. ebay calms him down, too. this season, he's been doing a *lot* of ebaying. My dad was like that too, floor stomping, yelling, tv tray throwing. You just get used to it. He is a lot more mellow now that they don't win as much and there are no expectations.
  5. The coaches have to find a way to motivate the players. I haven't seen a whole lot of fire these last few weeks. This is especially evident in the way they start out. It is also the coaches responsibility to fix these problems in practice, not wait for the game. They have had 3 months of practice to fix the errors. I also see very little dicipline in the team. Dicipline is a direct relation to the coaching staff.
  6. I thought the interview w/ the 2 was more entertaining than the game.
  7. I agree its tough with the line, but at least give it a shot. I don't agree that the middle screen has been effective recently. It worked against Pitt and ISU. TT, Baylor, MU, and OU all have stopped it. I think we ran it 3 times against TT and it didn't work. They did run a right screen this game with success, but the middle screen needs to be put in the closet until the CU or possible bowl game.
  8. Wow, is this game on tv. Hopefully OSU doesn't blow the lead like last year.
  9. Not with this team and not when the 3 don't get to the qb in ample time. A good receiver will find a hole in the zone if he is allowed to run around for 6 seconds.
  10. You don't have to blitz everyone. bring 4 or 5 and cover. The defensive backfield didn't play too bad today. The qb had 5 or 6 seconds when we brought 3. It doesn't work with our players. Look at the previous weeks. Look at last year.
  11. I think they need to diversify the play calling. I have been saying it for a few weeks now. They ran that damn middle screen to ross again and he got creamed by dvorchek(sp?). I think that is the 3rd or 4th game in a row they ran it and were unsuccessful. They only run a few running plays. When Glenn is in it is a hand off to him. I want to see a play action pass on 3rd and to when glenn is in. They run a toss to the outside with the trips bunch next to the line, they did throw the hb pass off of that today though. That is the kind of play calling I would like to see. Change it up. On 3rd and short when they pass the they either throw a slant, short in, or short out. OU had 9 guys up on the line of scrimmage on 3rd and short. Run a slant and go, an out and up, a 12 yard in over the middle. The offense is becoming too predictable just like Solich's offense was. It is time to open that 8 pound playbook up.
  12. Yep, once again he rushed 3 and gave up a key first down. The good thing is that he only did it one play and not an entire half.
  13. You've got to be kiddin. This loss no way falls on the shoulders of taylor. The team all around is poor. Taylor by no means is an All American, but he has been playing decent. I don't want to see beck get thrown out there. First, I don't think it is worth it to burn a redshirt w/ 3 games left, and second this O-line is terrible. I don't want to see a newbie out there having to make decisions while he is under duress every play. Lucky hasn't shown much all year. He has gotten the ball a few times but nothing too impressive. He looks good on kickoff returns though. Maybe its the playcalling. I would like to get him the ball in space, but they hardly ever throw to him, and when they do he either trips, or it is a crappy throw. I don't think any rb is gonna look good behind this line.
  14. Fox Sports The media is jumping all over this guy. I just don't get it anymore. Society has gone to hell in a handbag. Pretty soon we will be too politically correct for our own good.
  15. In fact I think only 13% of America's population is composed of African Americans.
  16. We also had 2 top NFL draft picks in the d backfield last year and that didn't turn out so rosy. We shouldn't look at ***'s but how well the team plays together. As we saw last year, the db's are very effective if the DL and LB's don't perform well.
  17. I agree. I think this is just another opportunity for someone to play the race card.
  18. Fox Sports Is he wrong by saying this? Is it not the truth? Most of the skill positions on a team are filled with black players. Does anyone have the numbers to the % of D1 football players that are black? I don't think he meant any disrespect by saying this, this was just his observation.
  19. He has had some good classes, but how many of those kids are still there? Bringing in the best recruiting classes isn't going to help you much if half of those classes are gone by the time they are jr. and sr. OU has lost 12 of their 24 members of the #7 recruiting class of 2002. That is key considering those players would either be sr. or rjr. That is probably part of the reason why they have 2 fr. playing at safety.
  20. Gotta see Beck play. I say start Taylor and have beck come in for a series or 2 in the 2nd or 3rd quarter to get some pt. We have to get Beck some playing time. Look at OU and their #1 recurited QB and what he is doing without any previous PT.
  21. 56.6% completion percentage will have to improve Your standards are kinda high?!?!?! Didn't Callahan say he wants the completion percentage around 60 or 65%? I have heard Norvell say that also.
  22. I think AP plays. He has been rested or played sparingly for almost 4 weeks now. This game is critical to OU's bowl Chances. If they lose to NU they gotta win 2 out of 3 against Tech, TA&M, and OSU.

  24. Pardon me, but that's a pretty heartless thing to say about a guy who is trying his best to please unthankful fans like yourself. If you didn't notice, he was getting hit over and over again while staying in the pocket and either delivering the ball on some fantastic plays, or getting his ass planted in the turf because the pocket was collapsing on him (due to an insufficient OL). Pretty hard to scramble out of something that is coming from your blindside. You go learn a WCO playbook, strap on the pads and deliver to "critical" fans like yourself on a Saturday. Yeah, that's what I thought. I probably deserve that, but I didn't mean for it to sound quite that harsh. Fact, Taylor left Wake because he didn't see a chance to play there. Maybe I'm wrong but I think Taylor was recruited to be nothing but a bandaid until Beck could be groomed. Taylor has played well this year despite having an inept OL. We know he's tough. I'm just saying that we're not having outstanding passing QB's fall at our feet like we once had outstanding running QB's fall at out feet. However, we won't know until Beck actually starts playing. Other than a few rejects (Mike Grant), NU had quite a few gamers like Mizzou's BS. When Brad Smith has been at his best was days like Saturday. When Brad Smith has been at his worst is when inept Pinkel tried to make him into a drop back passer. If you watched some of his passes, they weren't very good. In the first quarter, he hit a fairly long pass. The receiver was wide open, but he had to stand there for quite a while and wait for the ball to come to him giving the defender a chance to get there. Had the ball been thrown better, it was a sure touchdown. BS will make it into the pros if for no other reason than because he's 6'2 and runs a 4.3 40. However, I highly doubt many teams will even think about drafting him to be a QB because he just isn't a good enough passer. I agree I don't think Smith is a great passer either. But when you give him 5-6 seconds to get the ball off and his receivers are open by 5-10 yards it makes him look exceptional. In the second Quarter when we brought some pressure his throws were one-hoppers or floated over the head of his receiver.
