  1. I can't honestly see Nebraska winning a national championship this year either. But I definitely think a division and Big 10 title are within reach. We play a pretty weak out of conference slate and Wisconsin, Michigan, and Penn State all come to Lincoln. Theoretically that leaves Ohio State and Michigan State as the two* potential road losses. Playing Ohio State in Columbus is probably going to be a loss. I see 11-1 as posible but 9-3 again as more likely. The biggest key will be to see what happens when this team faces adversity in '12. Will they give up like they did last season or will they fight through it? That's the 64 million dollar question. * The Huskers wouldn't lose to Northwestern again would they? I really hope you're right though...but Little Michigan hasn't beaten us since football was invented... and going to the Shoe wil be tough, but I think, Bo going home - will be a trojan horse to Mr. Meyer........I think he will bring the DEFENSE that no one ever one imagined....
  2. Again, Eric Crouch. I wonder if gin was tryin to say started Game 1 as a freshman and started every game until his final game as a senior. If that is the case, he would be the first in the modern era at DONU yes that's what I meant....start every game and finish every game from Freshman to Senior at QB.....
  3. SO I guess Martinez will be the First ever to start(a game) as a Freshman and end as a Senior....with/Redshirt?
  4. I have been wondering for awhile now....how many Quarterbacks have acutally played (and start) for nebraska all four years and yes with a redshirt as well? Tommie Frazier comes to mind...but Eric Crouch didn't, neither did Scott Frost. Joe Ganz had to wait for ever and still had to watch after Sam Keller was done. Martinez...his two year term is up this spring...should we vote for another 2 more years?....my vote is YES!
  5. watching that YOUTUBE video of Nebraska coming back and I really would like a DVD of the game....any help would be appreciated...MODs move this where needed. Freaking awsome video!
  6. With the way our defense performed last season, I'm all for any kind of boost that a player can bring to the table. Like kchusker_chris mentioned....better done early in a player's career than to switch at the last moment. I'm not saying that our defense is going to improve by leaps and bounds but I'm very happy to see what kind of talent we will be playing this season and with CJ coming into the mix is great!
  7. 'SkersRule pretty much broke it down pretty well......I hope you and your friends have a great time visting Memorial Stadium and Lincoln in general. Hopefuly the game outcome will be closer this time around! Welcome to the board as well!
  8. This was more a reference of having a hard time beating Texas on a regular basis. Not sure how most other husker fans feel, but when Nebraska lose to Oklahoma it was like...good game, next game. But losing to Texas was just sickning and felt like I would experience a year long hangover. I see you point where there is really no team in the B1G that will try to squeeze anyone out of media coverage becuase if they try that, they are only hurting themselves in the long run.
  9. I thought that too. So much for loyalty-guess not, eh? I guess we could say the same about Carl. He left for a "better" gig. So did Sanders. Still, like posted above, after giving a guy a shot after the "incident", I would have thought he would have shown more loyalty. Makes you wonder how long he was on Kiffen's radar. Makes Bo's "loyalty" streak all the more a positive trait IMO. At least he is loyal to his staff. On another note, has anyone seen his salary? Yeah, can't speak on behalf of Carl, but if the tables were reversed, would he want to stay at Florida Atlantic where he could be around mid-Talent or to U$C where you get 5 Start recruits just for sneezing on a monday afternoon?? Staying there for 2-3 years would have been more loyal but would the USC offer still be there?
  10. Back when we had a comfortable living in the Big 8 with our friends from Oklahoma, I always was weary about having Texas into the conference. Since the Big 12, Texas has had our number numerous times and now since that chapter in Husker history is over, I'm wondering who is going to be a thorn in our a$$ now that we don't have them on our schedule anymore. I know we only had one season in the B1G and it might be too soon judge, however, I truely believe that Michigan is going to be spoiler to us more than it should. Any thoughts?? Gotta to love the off-season!
  11. I know I will miss playing OU, even when it was on a two year basis......but now having weekend match-ups with the likes of tOSU, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin, that defitnetly outweighs the cons. The conference itself is more stable than the big 12 - evident of the past two off seasons. I think overall it was a great move......will I feel that way 5 years down the road,.......not sure? At least there is a chance now that Oklahoma and Nebraska can play for a BCS bowl and maybe a National Champion game!!
  12. Good for you, well see how both teams are doing when we get to that game. Robinson could be out for the year Taylor could be hurt, long way away. true, but it's more likely Robinson will be in the hunt for the Heisman, Michigan will be fielding one of the most dominant defenses in CFB (i think people WAY overlook Michigan's defense), and Taylor/Nebraska will still be relying on Rex 30-35 plays a game. I also read last year that Nebraska's Defense was going to be very dominant as well and we all saw how that turned out. I don't disagree with what you are saying, just think we need to see what's out on the field before we assume who's going to this and who's going to be that....
  13. I still remember the Texas A & M game where time was winding down and Zac threw an interception......I thought GAME OVER, so I shut my TV off and wandered off to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and was curious what the final score was. To my amusement, ESPN was re-broadcasting the game and saw that incredible pass to MO.....I was thinking to myself....."you numbnuts!"....that's why you watch the game until the clock says 0:00. Great comeback! Good luck Zac!
  14. you mention those three you might as well ask if wrangler or jordache could come up with something....
  15. Was a good, tough game and that hail mary was so reminiscent of the hail mary against us in the SEC championship last year. Totally changed the complection of the game and I knew as soon as it happened the psyche of Nb team was not going to be the same. Luck? Had little Ace Sanders caught it, it would have been pure luck. But when Alshon does this stuff over and over again you have to give some credit. Jump balls are a big part of his game and he always makes those kids of plays. Still would have been interesting to see how it all works out without it. Also, would have liked to have seen a game without the ejections. At any rate you guys don't know what it means to gamecocks fans. Not just to get 11 wins for the first time ever, but to get the win against an opponent that commands the respect that Nebraksa does regardless of the year. Good luck next year and look forward to a rematch hopefully in a BCS game next year! Never had any ill will for south carolina, as far as the SEC goes....well that's different. I was never sure how your fans viewed our program so thanks for the classy post. as for a BCS game, that would definetly be entertaining. Good Luck to you as well! ps. say hi to Mizzou for us....not sure if they know what they are getting into!
  16. The sad thing about this one is that we were pretty much in control to win comfortably and yet we pissed it down our legs! Really not sure where this whole team goes from here? Luckily our offense will be mostly intact, not too sure about the defense. I know this is a sour note to end the season, but keep your heads up.....there'll be better days
  17. Just Another Clemson Fan Wishing Us Luck....relax badgerfan...
  18. It was done to preserve rivalries which I have no problem with. Any change that would screw up the UW-Minnesota rivalry would turn me into a NU hater for life. That's good because you can keep that Minnesota rivalry...Personally I would have liked our cross divisional game to be tOSU first and Wisconsin second. Penn St. will be licking thier wounds for awhile so I don't think they will be relavent any time soon.
  19. Welcome aboard.....hoping for a close game, maybe a last second field goal win for the huskers!! make yourself at home and looking forward for more USC fans on the board, actually there are a great number of you guys now. As for Switzer, I was kind of young when Osborne was struggling beating him so not too much ill-will towards Barry. So, you guys know when your schedule/division alignment will look like once Mizzou and aTm comes to your conference? It's going to be weird to see like Florida playing Missouri at the end of November (if the schedule warrants it)..??
  20. Man this match up is pretty exciting!! I feel comfortable any receiver on Fonzie but the other side is suspect. Someone mentioned that your QB can scramble and make plays which worries me quite a bit. I think this will go down to which team can win the field position battle and connect on field goal attempts.
  21. Welcome aboard GoonSquad, great to have opposing fans having interest in football talk instead of the run-of-the-mill smack talk. Going to be a great game!
  22. I'm betting more Carolina fans simply because of Geographical convenience...not to mention SEC fans stick together and I don't doubt local SEC fans from the area will go to support the Gamecocks even if they're not die-hard USC fans. It happened the other year when we played UCONN in Birmingham. Quite a few local Bama folks showed up to support the c$%ks. Geographic location does help a bunch but just remember that Nebraska didn't go to the Big Ten Championship game like a lot of our fans were counting on. Our fans want to see them play once more this season and are disappointed about not going to Indy and now have more of a bowl travel budget because that money wasn't spent there. Look for a lot of red in central Florida in a month. The exact same thing can be said of South Carolina...perhaps even more so. But the main point is that there will be more husker fans in general, at the game then there was at Wisconsin, Penn State or Michigan...doesn't mean more husker fans than gamecock fans...
  23. They are definitely top 10, if they win big in the NC then top 5 but heck Alabama pretty much gave that game away by missing 2 - 3 field goals?? 2011 LSU vs 1995 Nebraska....tough game but Nebraska wins by 2 touchdowns! JMHO
