  1. One thing that will really help Nebraska with Jalen He's not looking for a university with a Nigerian community around it, or atleast I hope not.
  2. What it comes down to is...stop daniel thomas and you stop the entire kstate team. And we will shut him down.
  3. I would guess back somewhere in Texas where he is from. I would love to have him though!
  4. rivals is notorious for exaggerating those numbers, but at any rate that still is impressive. that's why I said if he really. haha sorry my bad

  6. I agree but there are some that just want more offers to bring up their ego not saying thats what this kid is doing but I found his quote kind of suspecious. If he would've said I'm hoping to get an offer from USC than that would make me think he really likes USC and wants to go there but to say both USC and Florida makes me believe that he wants those two offers to boost up his ego but I hope I'm wrong. O well if the kid wants those to boost his ego then fine. But I have complete faith in this staffs ability to find under the radar prospects especially at linebacker: Tre Madden, David Santos, Nico Ornelas all were found by Bo and Co and have an offer. So if Kent wants to boost his ego its his life, but we can definatly find other LB's, if it comes down to it.
  7. DE or TE would be a good guess.
  8. I will say you NEED to recruit there. You could also choose not to and only recruit Cali, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska.....but that makes about as much sense as combining your bed and toilet. Of course, you also stated: "Without the state of Texas, half the teams in D1 couldn't field a team." You also wrote: "Texas is probably the most important state to Nebraska football." Really? You are placing way too much importance on the state of Texas. DeMorrio Williams, Greg Austin, and Terrence Nunn are the only Huskers from Texas that have received all-conference recognition from players recruited since 2002. While you state that we didn't focus on Texas recruiting during this time period, we averaged more than 3 Texas recruits per year from 2002-2007. Look at the numbers from my post above. I really would like to hear your case for why Texas recruiting is more important than instate recruiting. Sure, we have had a recruiting victory or two in Texas over the past couple of recruiting cycles, but most of the time we are left to pick through the scraps left over by Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, and Texas A&M. In Nebraska and some of the surrounding areas, we are the 1st choice. Now I hope that players like Thad Randle, Andrew Green, and Harvey Jackson prove me wrong. But right now, everyone who is so high on Texas is basing this on hope for the future, not results. You dont need to just look at Nebraska's roster just to base your opinion that recruiting the state of Texas. Look at How UT has done with JUST Texas kids, or Oklahoma, or Oklahoma State (the past couple of seasons), or Texas Tech. These schools mostily recruit the Texas area and seem to do very well with it. All of those schools have had big time players and most if not all of those players have come from the state of Texas, yes instate recruiting is very important too, but the state of Texas not only adds needed depth to a roster. But the Michael Crabtrees, Dez Bryants, Colt McCoys, Sergio Kindles, Earl Thomas's, Kendall Hunter, Cedric Benson came from texas. Its not overrated by any means.
  9. mine would have to be: 1. Grant Wistrom-Warrior on the field, but one of the nicest guys off the field. 2. Matt O'Hanlon-Not only a great football player with a amazing walk-on story, but also has a family to take care of. 3. Tommie Frazier-who doesnt look up to the quarterback when they are little? honorable mention: Domonic Raiola, Eric Crouch, Brook Berringer
  10. bingo We can dream though cant we? Hey aspeedlin? You gonna change your sig every year now? You know I was just thinking about that I think I'm goin to have to now! And yes I will dream about him coming to nebraska, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
  11. Just like the convo about Rodney Coe and having a tall running back is sort of a liability, well having an extremely tall OT is a liability too. Having an OT that tall could allow shorter DE or DT's to get under them and get a better push, being that tall takes away from getting leverage on a quick DE. If he stops growing now (6'9) he might be okay, but if he grows much taller than I would say he should stick with basketball.
  12. A defense always seems to click better with a big time playmaker in the linebacking core. A top flight linebacker would really boost our defense to a different level, dont get me wrong our defense has been outstanding. But putting in a playmaker like Johnathan Vilma, Demarrio Williams, Rey Maulaluga, Derrick Johnson, etc. just makes a defense better. He is now my official #1 must get player for 2012!
  13. Turner Gill. To the OP - yes, we could ignore Texas completely and still field a fine team, it would just be harder. Texas produces fine football players, and in greater concentration than most other states (CA and FL being the notable exceptions). When you're sifting through the country looking for top talent, it just makes sense to go where the highest concentration of top players are. Recruiting Texas is a no-brainer. good catch!
  14. Mickey Johnson is very interested in us too and said that we'll probably be in is top 5. Nebraska wasn't on the radar until the Texas game when Suh dominated Texas and thats when Nebraska started showing up on Johnsons radar. His scholarship offers are nasty....a lot of top college programs want this kid Yea I heard Mickey Johnson will be at NU during the summer to check us out. Plenty of other DT's out there that are very interested: Todd Peat, Gabe Wright (Alabama leads), Gerrand Johnson, Mason Fuller (visited for the spring game), Isiah Norton. We will get one of those kids no doubt.
  15. The kid has to do whatever makes things easier to see his Mom. huskerjock--sorry to bother you but what does the article about Kent Turene say? Looks like we made his early top 4.
  16. Most of those players with the exception of Blue are still pretty young and inexperienced besides burkhead and Green who have some experience, but Blue tore his ACL but the 2007 season he was probably our best DB. Texas has been real good to Nebraska in producing good players in the past: Demarrio Williams, Keyou Craver, TJ Hollowell, Aaron taylor, there are some I am missing.
  17. ADS

    Rodney Coe

Per rivals named Kansas State and Iowa as his two favorites as of right now. He just took a visit to Kansas State as well.
  18. The thing I have noticed about his recruting style is that he seems to follow the build your program from the inside to outside (bring in OL and DL). Controlling the line of scrimmage can really open an offense up, and controlling the defensive line of scrimmage can open it up for the linebackers and safety's to make plays. Eventhough Callahan was an OL coach he didnt seem to build the depth at either the OL and DL and I love that Bo and Co have been doing that in their classes. 2008: Ricky Henry, Brandon Thompson, David Grant (never made it to campus) 2009: Jesse Coffey, Nich Ash, Jeremiah Sirles, Brent Qualve 2010: Jamarcus Hardrick, Andrew Rodrigues, Mike Moudy 2011: Ryan Klatcho, Ryne Reeves, Tyler Moore, Dylan Admire, and possibly one more Tackle Having depth at the OL can make or break a program and it seems like Bo and this staff have brought in some quality depth upfront, something we have not seen in awhile.
  19. But if you also feel that Mack Brown and Texas do not help talent become great then those 5 players were better served going where they went. Last I checked Texas is Either tied or #1 in NFL talent as far as alumni go. I don't think the short horn and 1 second Mack are concerned about the ones that got away. They have only been burned by one played that left and he name is Adrian Peterson. Even if Rex becomes a stud Texas did not want him. Hopefully we get A.G. and he kills Texas. How the Adrian Peterson story played out reminds me a lot of how Aaron Green's recruitment is going to be honest. The commit now or we will fill your spot trick? If so not a smart move by Mack.
  20. Committed to Texas They have to be close to full for this class, myabe 2 more spots. Hopefully they fill up and Aaron Green and Quincy Russell join the Big Red.
  21. EA Sports should use one of these two pictures: Two things I gather from these pics...... Tim Tebow likes boys and he is a sore loser. Not that we didnt know this before. We all knew he was a little g@y but I still cant resist the urge to make fun of the biggest tool I have seen.
