  1. Bruce Feldman says new Indiana coach Kevin Wilson could turn to Mike Ekeler to be the defensive coordinator
  2. Saying what he said is a way to say no this time without saying no. He can say the same thing the next time if it's a yes or a no. If his name pops up for three coaching positions and he flat out denies them all, then on a fourth he says, "I don't address rumor and innuendo" then we can take it to be he's looking into it. He won't be the coach at Nebraska until he retires. Saying it this way make sit easier down the road.
  3. ESPN's Rumors sections mentions that Carl was expected to throw his name in for the Louisiana Lafayette job and that he did not return with the team to Lincoln after the championship game. ESPN guesses he was interviewing. I guess he was recruiting. ESPY says he has no ties to the school, but that he's the biggest name rumored to be tied to that job opening. Just wanted to pass it along.
  4. Considering he's seen Meatloaf, Wats and Taylor all at the airport in two days ... kinda odd. Plus Taylor wouldn't quit school right before finals. I'm guessing his GPA would nose-dive, considering the school's website says Nov. 12 is the last day to withdraw from courses. The school's site says this is "the 15th week" fomerly known as Dead Week. Read if ya wanna. I gave up: http://www.unl.edu/regrec/grades/final_main.shtml
  5. Congrats probably the eastiest POY selection in the state ever. We know more likely than not that Bubba will add the baseball POY, and honestly he very easily could be the BBall POY. He is that good. Not to shabby of a trophey collection either way. Reminds me of Joe Mauer in high school. He was national player of the year in baseball and football. He wasn't that great at basketball though. Just all-state. That's all.
  6. I agree with you on Robinson, he is deserving of some carries. Rex is Rex and I expect to see Aaron Green getting some carries. I really think we need another back in this class. I think Jones, Ward, and Okafor are all dogs. If they were good enough they would have gotten carries last year. I would like to see more depth at the RB position. I see it as only 3 deep with a true frosh. One injury makes the situation really thin. I dont know if Heard will make it, I hope he will. It is tricky situation waiting on Heard and trusting him to get the grades. Wouldnt mind seeing a JUCO back. Time will tell. I think we need another, but I think we should go for a h.s. back rather than a juco. Last year's two recruits listed at RB were Heard and Bell, who's now at WR. The year before was both Rex and Tray and neither one redshirted. Our youngest back next year, besides Green would be Rex and Tray. I think we need more young backs. Green prolly won't redshirt either. It'd be nice to get one in and shirt him.
  7. Mike Ekeler spoke this morning about changes in recruiting LBs because of the shift to the Big Ten. He says they're looking for a bigger middle linebacker and that they're getting in on those guys a little late this year. May not take many LBs this year, but wait til next year. Wants the right guy, not just a guy. http://www.omaha.com/section/BIGRED03/ I'm curious if there will be any other shifts we see right away, or if Bo will just continue to tweak as he sees fit.
  8. Rivals did a study a year (or two?) ago that surveyed a bunch of recruits, and the most common reason for signing with a school was proximity to home. There's more to the recruiting process that who had the best defensive backfield in the last year. This was a list of why kids pick certain schools • Whether the athlete made an “official visit” to a specific college • Whether the school is in a BCS conference • The distance from the high school athlete’s hometown to a specific school • Whether the recruit is in the same state as a specific school • The final AP Ranking of a specific school in the previous year of competition • The number of conference titles a school has recorded in recent years • Whether the school is currently under a “bowl ban” for violating NCAA rules • The current number of scholarship reductions a school faces for violating NCAA rules • The size of the team’s stadium (measured in terms of seating capacity) • Whether the school has an on-campus stadium • The current age of the team’s stadium Here is a list of why NEBRASKA Student Athletes Pick Nebraska taken from Huskers.com article: Linky----huskers.com I wonder how many other colleges have an AD that athletes consider to be more important than the degree they want to pursue and the facilities. Glad to see the respect for Dr. Tom.
  9. might have spoke a little too soon there Pauly. Might be hittin it again: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/49365-rb-dangelo-roberts/
  10. Impressive numbers. Don't know how good Indiana HS football is, but that looks pretty good. Looks like in the largest class there.
  11. Seems kinda odd, but said that he just got a call from Nebraska after the IU coach was fired.
  12. Player: D'Angelo Roberts Hometown: Bloomington, IN School: North HS Position: RB Height: 5'10" Weight: 175 lbs. 40 time: Visit Date: Scholarships: Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Indiana Committed to Indiana Rivals: :star 5.6 Scout: :star (#72) ESPN: :star :star (#43)
  13. I'd venture to guess there'd be a few there. I'm guessing AG as well.
  14. let's hope Tevin does, since it'll be just one week before he visits Arky. Maybe Bo can talk him out of it/reaffirm his commitment.
  15. The guy he is next to is his team mate Garrett Greenlea, who is all of 6'7" I'm just diggin that his lil sis is wearing the red for such a proud pic!
  16. Jackson with his family after getting his official invite to the Army AA game. That 5'10" he's listed at may be a bit generous. He is next to a behemouth, but def. is the shortest guy there.
  17. ESPN just released new rankings and we're #10. Get a few more of those highly-sought after guys and this could be our best 'star class.'
  18. Raiola and Fonoti had good careers here. Raiola's still a solid player in the League. C'mon LKK.
  19. I read somewhere that they can sign a bunch of guys that enroll in spring, then the 15 would be the fall enrollees. Something with the fact that they are playing under their scholarship limit right now. They're trying to get guys to come in the spring. Kent Turene just said, nevermind I'll be there after my season year, not at mid-term. A few more of those and they may have to force a few out. According to scout, they have a kicker, punter and long snapper that are on board. Just odd.
  20. these rumors come around every year. well let's hope they're true. Especially for us Vikes fans .
  21. if he can't qualify in the spring, I'm not sure USC can take him. I just read something that they can take 15 h.s. kids but can accept up to 9 spring signees in addition. They already have 16 commits.
