With these guys currently playing D1 and a few of them are pretty darn good.... Makes me wonder if Coach Petito isn't a Callahan fan...... I'm not postive, but has Callahan been able to get a solid "Millard North"guy? I know he has only had two years, but you think that with the history of "North" guys at NU, that the recent cold spell could mean that Petito could not be a Callahan guy. On the other hand, being a coach myself, I would hope that Petito would not try to influence the kids at all.. Just leave it up to the kids. Coach P is telling his kids to go anywhere other than Nebraska or so I hear.

Agreed, but 2 problems: 1) JCs are more of a crapshoot than HSs 2) we already have 3 Sophs/JR RBs, NU should probably look for one for the future. (Or are those 3 not as good as advertised ) Its all about filling needs, and I dont think that we need another JR RB. Do we or do we not have as much talent as Kansas? as Missouri? If the scheme is too compex for the young guys to learn, simplify it until they can grasp what they need to let their talent work for them. How many formations and motions into formation does a team need to run in order to perform??? And, if it is just a matter of getting experience in the scheme, why is it that we see the same simple mistakes every week, offsides, misalignments, etc. etc. All of these excuses about "give it more time" "these guys are young yet" etc. are not holding much water anymore. ND has got it done w/ a first year HC, South Carolina isnt doing badly, either. Stoops didnt make excuses, he won in year #2. There is no way that KU, Mizzou, KSU, and Pitt have the same level of talent as NU. Its a good PRO system (bad for college athletes) that is being run and "taught" by bad coaches. The result is an 11-10 record. They do have the same talent because Frank left us that way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then is a damn good thing that Frank is a better coach than billy c, because he beat these guys more than he lost to them If Frank could get 9 (10) wins out of a similiar schedule with similar players, and billy c can only manage 5 to 6 wins, its easy to see who the better coach is. specially since they are running the same system with the same players.

Actually Kenny wilson is prob. faster than Royster. Kenny 40 time is 4.4 and Royster is 4.45. Also Kenny in a track meet ran a 10.2 100 meter and a 20.2 200 meter. So Kenny is no sloch he would prob. be one of the fastest guys on nebr. team if he keeps his verbal.

ND had the cupboard stocked for a run with tall athletic receivers and a very gifted, heady quarterback at the healm protected by a veteran line with West Coast type Offense experience for 3 years(9 JUNIORS AND SENIORS ON THEIR 2 DEEP!) . Spurrier has done a good job at South Carolina, but 6-5 to 7-4, according to yourself and some on this board, 1 more win is NOT necessarily improvement. Your hatred for John Blake blinds you because he left Stoops a ton of talent that he fed off for his first 3-4 years. Blake may not have been a good head coach, but he was a damn good recruiter. As far as talent level, I will give you KU, they don't have as much talent as NU. But in the past 4 years, MU has had recruiting classes that were rated higher than NU every year except last year. Aside from the class of 2005, Pitt has had similar recruiting classes as Nebraska. As far as recruiting classes were rated, KSU was better than NU in 2 of the past 4 years with top 20 classes in those years. So that is also bunk. Whether or not it is a good system taught by bad coaches here is debatable at best. NU hasn't had much offensive firepower since 2001. The team is 28-19 since then. Lots of deep rooted problems. This season isn't over yet and there is still a chance at 8-4. There have been flashes this season of better things to come, but not enough to be overly optimistic for next season. I will reserve judgement to see how we end the season, first and foremost, and how the team reacts and adjusts for next season with another year under their belt. From what I have heard it is not looking good, I wouldn't expect him to play next year. He still can't run two days in a row without pain. They had to redo a botched operation, and if he is going to play he will have to wear a brace on his knee.

From 97 to 98 he lost his starting qb, one of the top 3 I-backs in school history (2nd/3rd team all-American), 3 or 4 Oline starters (Outland trophy winner and another All Big 12 performer), 2 AA Dlineman (One Lombardi winner), to name a few. That team lost alot of great players. Did they have alot coming back, yes, but no team can lose 3 first team AAs and not have it effect them. Bottom line, pud supposedly (hack, cough, sneeze) made this move to compete for championships now. Especially after a 10-3 season, anything less than playing in the Big 12 championship game is not success. No championships, and with billy c at the helm, none will ever be won. And yet, we expected Solich to do it in 6 years. He at least played for one in his 6 year career as HC. In order to be successful, I think we must first at least accomplish more than the previous staff. So far, we haven't even reached the status of Solich's worst year at NU. In order to do this, BC will have to make a BCS bowl. He will have to play and win a NC. If he accomplishes this in his 6 year stint, then he was successful. If he does not, then we were all sold a bag of sh#t by Pud! If BC is the "Ancient God" of recruiting, then none of this should be a problem. What a Joke the prev. coaching staff was the reason that there was a need to change. FYI they just don't fire people, you kinda have to do something to earn getting fired.
