  1. I never thought I'd see the day when we would be competing against Iowa State and Baylor for the worst team in the conference. Unbelievable.
  2. Square Peg -> Round Hole Story of HCBC. No fan of JD but trying to force him into being a WCO QB was incredibly stupid, pig headed and shows a complete lack of coaching competence. A good coach, hell even a mediocre coach would have come in and adapted his system to the talent and skill sets that the team possessed. But oh no, not for former super bowl uber coach Callhan. He has to come in and ram this incredibly complex variant of the WCO down the throat of a group of players that were recruited to run the option. Well, that didn't work out very well did it Bill? But come to think of it, it's working even worse now that you have your own players in here. This whole last 4 years pisses me off so much I want to puke. What is even worse was I supported HCBC even though the warning signs were there from day one that the whole ADSP/HCBC was not going to work. I dismissed the haters as a bunch of bitter Solichistas. I'm sorry for that now, I should have listened. I saw the same things you guys did but choose to ignore them. This season can not end soon enough for me. The sooner it ends, the sooner this group of incompetent :asshat coaches will hit the bricks.
  3. At least they came out and put forth and effort in the first half this week. This latest loss was not nearly as disheartening to me as the previous two losses. I'd call that progress!
  4. I thought T-A&M and KSU were our best shots at winning one of the final games. After seeing another blowout today I question whether beating KSU is even possible. I have virtually no hope for winning any of the road games. 4-8 looks quite probable from where I sit. On the bright side every successive loss is another nail in BC's coffin. If the team would have somehow managed an 8-4 or 7-5 season there may have been pressure to let BC continue at least another year. Well forget that. When we end up 4-8 or 5-7 there certainly won't be many cries that he wasn't given a fair shot at building the program.
  5. Bullsh$t. Frank was inept and in way over his head in his handling of a team at this level. Just because his successor is ever worse certainly doesn't excuse FS from taking a top tier team and running it into the ground anymore than HCBC is excused from taking a mediocre team and turning it into a bottom ten contender.
  6. Well, whatever the source, there is nothing in the OP that would surprised me in the least. In fact, I'd bet it is all true to some extent. Dead locker room? It sure would coincide with the dead play on the field. Team doesn't seem to give a damn one way or the other. I played on a team that won 3 games in 2 years and was coached by incompetents. The locker room was like a morgue. Coaching staff that doesn't care. Check. For what we have heard from various sources there are serious internal issue on the staff. It would be human nature for some of them to just do enough to get through this season. They know it will be their last at NU. They just don't care anymore. Kids transfer every year. And with what has happened so far why would anybody expect this year to be any different? I would expect the number to go up a little. These are all symptoms of a Coach that has lost the team and staff. It happened in Oakland, it is happening here right before our eyes. But looking on the bright side, at least with the total collapse of the team there is will have to be a complete house cleaning done after the season. This will allow the now deeply divided Husker Nation to unite again. In fact, the current fiasco is doing a good job of uniting us but at the cost of a very painful season. How the selection of the successors to the current regime are select will obviously be critical. Let's hope the selectors look to the past for clues on how to proceed in our future. If there isn't a complete house cleaning done from SP on down I fear the worst is yet to come.
  7. I hope you guys are right in the fact the money is there to buy out both HCBC and ADSP. Getting rid of one without the other would be a major mistake.
  8. Yes, it was down right spooky. And even though JR and AF tried to stay positive it got to the point that the reality of the situation had to be raised. I've been listening to the Huskers since the BobFather was in charge and have never heard anything like this.
  9. WTF? How on earth can you NOT blame HCBC for what is happening right now? "Doing a fine job"? You can't be for real can you?
  10. I do. HCBC will be here a least a couple of more years unless some wealthy alumni step up and offer to buy him out. If not, I think we have at least 2 more years of HCBC, maybe the full 4 years if/when the football cash cow dries up from lack of interest in buying tickets to the games. Unfortunately, I think we are going to have to get used to what is happening this year because I don't see it changing any time soon.
  11. I think it will be between MU & KU and if forced to bet on it I would have to go with MU. But, I'm pulling KU all the way (unless NU pulls out a miracle turnaround). Now, I just hope the residents of Lawrence will refrain from from slashing the tires of all the Nebr. cars the night before the game. Having rivalry is great but that kind of behavior from the people for Lawrence in 2003 goes way over the line IMHO. Maybe the ass kicking we got in 2005 will satisfy you folks so you won't have to resort to property crime directed at your guests.
  12. I think his age would also be a factor. He is going on 71 years old and left coaching 10 years ago for health reasons. I could never see him coming back as AD even if Harvey, Stevie and Billy were to leave. Additionally, I wouldn't want him to come back. Tom did what very few in the sporting arena have the foresight and discipline to do. Leave the game at the pinnacle of their career. When I think back on Tom's time at NU, the first thing that comes to mind is 60-3, and 3 MNC's. A record any coach would die for. Too many hang on well past their prime (JoePa, Bowden etc) and I think it really tarnishes their legacy. Now when I think of JoePa, I don't think of the many great teams he had or the great career he has amassed. I think of a very old man who has stayed on way past his prime and who's teams are but a shadow of the former great teams PSU has had. I think it is kind of sad.
  13. I thought the highlight of the night was the Matt Davison interview in the 4th qtr. I agree with him on all points and thought it took a lot a guts to express his feelings on national TV (although there were probably only about a dozen non NU/MU fans watching by that point). It was good to hear what I believe is in the hearts of most NU fans at this point called out to the nation. I do worry for Matt's job now though. This administration has shown a 0 tolerance policy with any negativity from their employee's in the past and last night Matt, although truthful in every respect, was none too complimentary concerning the state of the program. If last night didn't end his career at NU I'm sure if he keeps it up he won't be around long.
  14. Hmmm, maybe because it pays $1.75 million dollars a year? When all is said and done most these guys only care about one thing, lining their pockets. Money is great motivator and NU is as good of a place as any to get rich.
  15. Joe Glenn was my pick to replace Frank. I guess I don't carry as much weight with SP as I thought Even though he is in his late 50's now I'd still rather have him than what we have now. Hell, call him up right now and see if he can start after this season (which the way things are going might just end after the CU game). Joe is a Lincoln boy and by all accounts a outstanding person with impeccable integrity as well as a great coach. I would have loved to see him in Lincoln in 2004.
  16. Nothing is going to change. BC and SP just got nice fat contract extensions so even if Harvey wanted to make a change there is no way he would pony up the close to $10,000,000.00 to buy out the contracts. There may be some position coaching changes in the off season but that will be about it. This team is seriously broken, unmotivated, uninspired and in disarray. Unfortunately, I think this is what we have to look forward to for the next few years. Prediction. The last and greatest record we have, the home sell-out streak, will end either this year or next year. I think last night was the defining moment for this staff and direction the program is headed. Huskers fans have finally seen enough and if it keeps up will quickly translate into apathy and indifference. I never thought this day would come but I guess all good things must end sooner or later. At least I was around to enjoy all 5 championships and I don't see another coming for a long, long time.
  17. I'd like to see somebody with NU roots or who at least understands and appreciates the program. Somebody that has some passion for NU and football in general. Someone that can fire up a team to play at 110%. Not another stoic, emotionless CEO that want to run things like an NFL franchise.
  18. You must be one of those sunshine pumpers It was actually 610 yards. 610 yards against stinking Ball State Think of it this way. In the last 3 games (2 of which were against decidedly mediocre opponents) this defense has given up just 129 yards shy of 1 MILE of total offense.
  19. My expectations haven't changed one bit. I said before the season started I'd be happy if this team won the North and managed a top 25 finish when all is said and done. After watching the last three games I think both will be difficult to achieve, especially a top 25 finish. The B12 north is soooo mediocre we still may have a chance to win it even if they keep playing like they have the last three weeks. The top 25 finish will be the ultimate measuring stick in my book. 25th or better = a successful season. Out of the top 25 = not so successful of a season. Have I lowered my expectations? Hell yes I have. Used to be a single loss would put into a tail spin but anymore I just hope we can finish up with 4 or fewer losses for an entire season. I know its sad, but true.
