  1. Do you think they would split up Mich and Mich State? I was under the impression that was a pretty big rivalry. If they do just one rivalry game across divisions that would be Ohio State and would make the UM vs. MSU not happen on a regular basis. I think this may be the only time I've seen someone split those two teams. If they could do it like this I am all on board. We'd get UM, IA, Wiscy and Minnesota plus PSU as our cross division rivalry game...that would be great for Nebraska. Put NU vs. UM the day after Thanksgiving with OSU vs. PSU that's a heckuva line up for the day after Turkey Day.
  2. So your one of THOSE type fans..well guess every school has a few embarassments Truth hurts, doesn't it. Don't worry, you'll still get to have your embarrassment at the hands of OSU every season. And for the record, my tirade was more about the media fretting over when Michigan and OSU should space out their two games that they'll certainly play every year because they will be in the conference championship game every year. So I hope NU gets to piss off the MU and OSU loving media to tear apart that second game they hope for. And Liberty, you've been here 10 minutes so I could care less what you think you know. Oh hail thee foppa the king of the board! Please let us know where we can have our posts scrubbed for your approval before posting. I'm sure the Mods would tend to differ. At least you're a Nebraska fan, right? That is awesome! Where is Liberty, MO, anyway? Is it in Missouri? The state that the Missouri Tigers play? A couple of hours from Columbia, Missouri if I know my Missouri geography? A half-hour north of Kansas City, Missouri? A couple of hours west of where the University of Missouri is located? What's it like to live in Missouri? A lot of die-hard Missouri fans, I'm sure. At least you're a Nebraska fan. I bet Missouri isn't happy they didn't make the Big 10 cut. Do you hear alot of commotion about Missouri not being good enough for the Big 10? I don't envy you living in Missouri. A lot of awful sports teams in Missouri. Really, really bad teams. I heard Missouri was so desperate to keep Gabbert from going to Nebraska they chained him to a flagpole in Columbia, Missouri. I doubt that's true though. Is there a lot of good Missouri fans in Missouri? I'm surprised they let Nebraskans even go into the state of Missouri. Probably tolerate it because of fireworks sales. You post whatever you want dude. Someday I'll stop being an embarrassment and move to your state of Missouri. That's where it's at, right? Go Big Red! So since I live in Missouri it's not likely that I'm a Husker Fan? I'm sure that nobody that ever grew up in Nebraska ever moved out of the state for other opportunities? Born and raised in Nebraska life long Husker fan. Feel better now? Liberty is only a half hour from Kansas City if you drive like an old blue hair. Even though many teams in Missouri suck the one I'm affiliated with has won Three National Championships since 1998 so I'm quite fortunate that my two College Football teams are quite successful. I did get to enjoy one World Series Championship was actually at game one and game six so I feel fortunate about that. Got to watch one of the best to play the game in his prime. I also got to see the best quarterback in NFL history play a couple years, he was past his prime, but still got the Chiefs to an AFC Championship Game...so yeah living here really sucks and definitely makes me less of a Husker fan. Just curious are all those people from Nebraska that come down here to this horrible sports black hole to watch the professional teams in Missouri play less of a Husker fan because they root for a team that is two hours west of Columbia? Yes there are good Missouri fans that live here a lot of them are friends of mine and there are some that give them a bad name...you have a lot in common with them. I hope you don't find out that I have friends that are KU fans, KSU fans, ISU fans, Iowa fans, and OU fans I'm sure that somehow means I'm not a Husker fan too. I'm sure that since I've now lived in Missouri longer than I did in Nebraska I am diminished even more in your eyes as a Husker fan. One thing I've learned living here so long is when you live outside of the state of Nebraska you get to spend most of your time apologizing for fans like you, because you are the type of fan most fans from other teams remember, the idiot few that feel like they have to call people out and talk smack.

  5. So is it that there is disagreement with the criteria that Delany and the Big Ten have set forth for the divisions or is it that they are just being ignored? It seems it has been pretty clear that the priorities were: 1. Competitive Balance 2. Saving as many rivalries as possible 3. Geography Delany later said they would focus on the past 17 years in determining the competitive balance, yet many are still arguing geography and looking at periods other than 17 years. If tOSU and U of M are considering being in different divisions and giving up their year end game for one in October it would appear that they are very serious in doing what they can about helping achieve competitive balance. People argue geography from the fan's travel perspective, I find it hard to believe that the conference is that concerned with that. As Husker fans we may not like that because we have been used to having schools closer to us than the Big Ten likely will have, but I can't see that being an issue in determining divisional alignment. SHould it be? Sure. Will it be? Very doubtful. If tOSU and U of M are splitting then it is highly likely that NU and PSU will be split and so will Iowa and Wiscy. Those are the most successful programs in the past 17 years and since NU and tOSU have been the two most successful I'd wager that NU will be with U of M than with tOSU and I can't imagine a scenario where Iowa is not in with NU. So that would have NU, UofM and Iowa in the same division and tOSU, PSU and Wiscy in the other. I can't recall exactly how the next 6 broke down, but I doubt MSU and U of M are split. Isn't Wiscy and Minnesota one of the longest standing rivalries? That would make it tough to split them up. The remaining four I'm not sure but I would think NW and Illinois would stay together so Purdue and Indiana could. That one might be more geographical in the final decision thus NW & Illinois with NU, UofM, Iowa, & MSU. Inevitably there will be arguments, but that set up sure seems to do a good job of meeting all their criteria.
  6. Seriously? You must not be a parent. As a parent there's not a day that goes by that you don't worry about your child and to find out that type of information second hand as a rumor before you knew for sure would be less than ideal...to say the least.
  7. the press confrence "they(nebraska) made a spectacle of it" he's also including the regents meeting in that as well as "unnessary" I've heard this "allegation" against Nebraska several times from several sources, but bottom line is it's just sour grapes. There was nothing at all unprofessional about Tom and Harvey's statements. They laid out in a factual manner the reasons behind the steps they took. They didn't name names and they didn't point fingers or lay blame. They outlined steps other schools took, and the reactive steps they felt they had to take. Very simple, very logical. They used professional, factual and respectful words, and they did not raise their voices nor in any other way appear rancorous. Despite the reality of their statements and their comportment, both Tom and Harvey have been vilified by various reporters and broadcasters for taking the time to lay out their reasons for leaving the Big 12 and joining the Big 10. My question, were I to care enough to hear their response to ask, would be this: What would you have had them do? These are two men charged with governing one of the most historic, important and influential schools in all of college football. The school they represent is among the very pinnacle of the football world, and has worked very hard to earn that place. The conference they were leaving was one of the elite in the last decade, and the conference they were joining is the most long-standing and prestigious major football conference in the world. Did they really expect a memo or a simple press release? Did they expect a two-minute address and a question-and-answer session following? If so, they're fools, and they do not understand the "pomp and pageantry" of the sport they cover and profess to love. This was a big, big, BIG deal. This was the largest shift in college football's landscape in decades. This was a rearranging of Mt. Rushmore. Expecting this move to be handled differently is foolish, and there's just no other way to look at it. Tom and Harvey handled this situation perfectly, and I have yet to see anyone show where they misspoke or committed a faux pas in either their address in front of the Regents or their press conference with the Big 10 brass. Beautifully said! All Husker fans should memorize this and use this as your rebuttal to ANY perceived slight to the Huskers. It would make us look a lot better as a fan base. I realize it is a small faction that makes us look like buffoons but that small faction seems to find the highest profile places to expose their embarassing rants. Living in KC I am as close to ground zero in this whole hatefest and I end up turning the radio station when Husker fans start calling in and sounding like big babies. We need to realize that the schools represented in this vitriol spewed towards the Huskers have suffered THEIR ENTIRE LIVES numerous severe beat downs at the hands of the Huskers. They are jealous of how NU was able to get the Big Ten to bend their timetable to take the Huskers and leave them all hanging at the will of the University of Texas. They don't like it, but they can't badmouth UT so they are spewing it towards NU.
  8. He's not back to 100% after his second ACL, Bo said they were worried the rigors of camp right now could hurt his progress toward getting healthy.
  9. The way I understand it is they make every game available for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ABC the net work chooses the games they want to show and IIRC in KC on Uverse I would get Big Ten games on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU at 11:00 Central, the other games were on extra ESPN channels that show up during football seasons, then there is a main game on the Big Ten Network and all the other games that weren't picked up by ESPN etal and ABC is then on alternate channels that show up during Football season. I'm not sure how other systems work, but I would bet that DirecTV and Dish are similar to what Uverse is. Hope that helps.
  10. Can you imagine how long it took just to dig the hole for the stadium with that old small equipment? Wow!
  11. Delany said today he expected news on divisional alignments in 30 to 45 days. They need that before the schedules will be out. He also said that they would likely be focusing on records from 1993 to today in determining the competitive balance. He said they would look at W-L records, Home and Away records vs. conference, against non con, against non-con BCS teams, conf championships, national championships. He made it sound like the decision would be largely driven by the data points contained in this analysis. Thought that was interesting. He also said he didn't think the non revenue sports needed divisions, that football needed it to determine divisional champs for the championship game. Pretty interesting stuff. The Big Ten Network is replaying the entire thing tonight at 7:00 Central.
  12. Is there any chance that Texas will have burned so many bridges that if the 16 team super conferences do come to fruition that nobody will want them and they will be working to keep the OU's and A&M's in their own conference to survive? Or is Texas so hot of a chick that no matter what a b@itch she is she will still be wanted by all? Just wondering if they are wearing out their welcome.
  13. You guys shouldn't get so worked up over these guys on the radio in KC. It is mostly KU, MU and KSU guys and they hate the Huskers, I mean hate them. Put yourself in their shoes, in their lifetimes they have beaten NU perhaps 4, 5 maybe 6 times they have all been relegated to lower tier status when it comes to college sports and they can't stand it that NU was sought by the Big Ten and has now voted to leave them and join the Big Ten. All they have now is to bash NU at every possible turn. Get used to it, because it will only get worse, especially if/when the Big XII folds in the next 5 to 10 years. The hate will spew even more then. I have adopted the policy to just laugh at them when they give me hell for being a Husker fan. I ask them if it's true they have to send their diploma's back to the school to get the Longhorn seal put on them for them to be valid. They hate it when I ask them how things are going at the University of Texas at Columbia. Just take it all in stride, smile and realize that they are so stinkin' jealous that they are obsessed with the Huskers and wanting them to fail. It makes listening to all these boobs much more tolerable. If K-State Kevin Kietzman (sp) bugs you so much if you want to hit him in the pocket book get the NU Alumni Association to find a different station than 1510/810 to air the Husker games in KC. He's a part owner. Hope this helps.
  14. what you won't read about is while everything was torn up, there were supports put in the ground during the renovation for possible upper decks in the endzones which would bring the seating capacity up to 130,000. its a possibility to see this done in 5-10 years. Wait a minute, increasing your seating, that can't be true, shouldn't you be lowering it I mean all I've been hearing about is how everyone living in the rust belt is moving to Texas, who will be left to go to the games?
  15. When all this was going down didn't the SEC pundits say that they already allow their schools to have their own local network? I don't think the Bevo network is a problem with the SEC, from what I've read I think it's academic standards that Texas has issues with in the SEC. The more I hear about what the Bevo Network will have access to, I wonder if it is such a big deal to the rest of the conference. They won't have the rights to the big football games the networks will have that, when it comes to basketball- Kansas already shows their non-con crap games on the networks in KC (they probably get some revenue from that) so what is so different than what the Bevo network will do. Other sports- if ESPN wants rights to a Texas baseball game do you think the university will keep it for themselves? I could see if the network starts making money then the schools that play Texas and are televised in these other non and lower revenue sports will negotiate to be paid a higher appearance fee. Similar to what NU (and the rest of college football) is having to do to get the smaller schools to come to their place to play. Jamrog and TO have mentioned on multiple occasions how expensive that has gotten. I guess I think this issue will be less and less of an impact going forward. Now if networks start making sizeable coin on Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, Swimming, etc. then maybe the networks get involved in pushing up the revenue from TV that those sports generate. IF that happens then it could be a problem, but I doubt we'll be clamoring for that Gymnastics Duel between Texas and NU.
  16. In KC on ATT Uverse I had a choice of the main ESPN/ABC game and other Big Ten games on additional ESPN channels or on the Big Ten's extra channels. I'd bet many will have the same options.
  17. Correct. We own the rights to any game not picked up by ABC/ESPN or FSN. The money from PPV games in the past were all Nebraskas not one dime went to the big 12. The Big 10 said they would air a few NU games starting this year. PPV may be a thing of the past. I saw somewhere that the PPV revenue actually went into the TV revenue pot last year and was split between all the teams in the conference. I think that moved NU down the list on revenue last year. Sorry can't remember where I saw that, maybe someone else saw that too. IIR the Univ. gets the PPV money directly. So the share of the revenue went down, because less games were broadcast. But total revenue went up because they didn't share the PPV Hmm, I wish I remembered where I read that, but it had also said that NU wasn't happy that they did it that way. Maybe it was on a board somewhere, but it seems like it was an article somewhere.
  18. Correct. We own the rights to any game not picked up by ABC/ESPN or FSN. The money from PPV games in the past were all Nebraskas not one dime went to the big 12. 19. I think, and I must stress this is just me thinking, that he was referring to the access of most Big Ten schools (not all mind you). A major airport is very close to most Big Ten schools hence the availability of cheap and fast air travel. BOJ, I was somewhat ignoring the cost differential, if NU is going from $10mil-ish to $20mil-is in revenue I'm sure the additional cost to fly the football team instead of bus them will be able to be covered. It seems that many were worried about the travel times for NU & PSU, PSU more than NU if PSU was put into the OP's divisional breakdown. It seems that the actual time on the road would be less if NU is flying more and if PSU has to come west more it may add some time, but really how much was my question. Someone else posted that short of PSU the other schools in the Big Ten are closer than Austin is to Lincoln. Ultimately, my point is that I don't think travel is going to be that big of an issue if NU & PSU are in the same division for FOOTBALL. More miles yes, but not that much more time and for NU those trips could be less time than the bus trips that they currently take are.
  20. If they do this split for football only, what is the actual difference in time of travel? Didn't TO say that even though the miles are greater the actual travel time will be very similar because NU would be flying to games vs. bussing to the likes of ISU, KU, KSU, do they fly to Columbia or bus? From a PSU perspective- do they fly to all their games or do they bus to any of them now? If they only fly how much travel time are they adding, an hour, an hour & a half, if they come west more? Is it really that much difference than what they are doing now? It's not like NU is on the west coast. My point is with all the air travel is the difference in actual travel time really that significant?
  21. Bear in mind that in 2009 the Big 12 pulled in $139 million. Is that $139m just from TV? That would include the CCG too wouldn't it? Could they be thinking less because there is no CCG? I'll be surprised if all these numbers end up being that high. Being here in the epicenter of what would have been a Nuclear Wasteland, they are spinning this like nobody's business. The presser with Lew "The Nose" Perkins was comical. He was all over the place trying to deny that the exit fee, oh wait, it's not an exit fee, would go into a separate "bundle" and that if Tex, OU and aTm did not earn enough money to make them "whole" (I'm guessing that $20Million per year number) then the "forgotten 5" would find sufficient funds from all their "bundles" of money to make them "whole." He would not commit to any of that money to make the top 3 whole would come from the "bundle" of money from the exit fee, oh wait I can't call it that. Confused yet? I know I was listening to that today. I wonder if all these press conferences where everyone is saying how much better the conference will be now could help NU prove that there were no damages when they left (assuming there is something in the verbiage of the conference charter about that) so they can negotiate a smaller exit fee- oh crap I can't call it that or "The Nose" may have my legs broken.
  22. The remaining members of the Big 12-2 are suckling at the Teat of Texas, I wonder if they realize that Beavo is a male and there is only one teat? Thanks for the welcome it's going to be fun being part of the Big Ten!
