  1. From what I understand nothing has changed in terms of the old stadium. All the seats that were there before are the same the new addition was entirely new. Could be wrong though.
  2. If memory serves the study also said the problem is not so much the train itself but getting around once you get to your destination as the public transportation systems in each city are not really set up to handle this type of thing. On a game day it would be different as the destination is right there but to make it feasible the other days of the year may not make it worth while. If you are commuting from Lincoln to Omaha on a normal typical Wednesday and you get downtown you will have to walk or catch a cab etc to get other places. Are there enough people that work extremely close to the train stop that could walk to support it? Another study was done by a UNO student a while back showing how they would set up a subway system in Omaha. If you have other infrastructure in place to help out once you got to the other city then I think it would go gangbusters. I know I would take it but I don't want to get there and have to take a cab or something to get around. I love the idea for Husker games and really over all as I wish we had more train options here in the States. I like competition. I would take the train everywhere if it was cheaper than flying. I want a nationwide high speed rail system set up as well!
  3. Anyone know when they are supposed to be sent out? I want them. I know they are coming it is just not the same until they are in hand.
  4. Has there been any drawing or renderings as to what the inside of the new addition will look like yet? How about a better seating chart showing how many rows will be in the upper deck etc? There are many questions and I want to know the answers. My tickets are in the new addition so I will find out for the Wyoming game but I was hoping to know sooner! Thanks Husker nation! GBR!
  5. I went to the Heisman Room in North Stadium this last weekend and the guy there said the self guided tour is currently closed due to the area being a hard hat area only but would be reopening in September. Just thought I would pass this info along as I always like taking friends and family from out of town there when in Lincoln.
  6. Where did you look to find this info? I logged into my account and couldn't even find that I have seats this year. You have to log into your account and then from there it was wierd to actually find it. I clicked on renew my donation and it showed what I had paid in terms of the donation and below it showed my seats, which were different from what they had been so I looked where they were and they were part of the new section. I just checked before writing back and I cannot find it again either. I really wish huskers.com and your account information was easier to access information it seems hard to find information on that site IMO.
  7. PBA is going to be a top notch facility for sure as will the new addition to Memorial Stadium. With all of the research space and the addition to the stadium I really like it. I just wish there were some pictures or renderings as to what the inside of the new section of Memorial Stadium will be like. How the concourses and everything will look etc. Will there be escalators, etc. Anyone seen anthing?
  8. So I looked on my account on huskers.com and it looks like our seats have been moved over to the new section on the east side almost at the top but we are excited! Has there been a drawing of what the insides of the new addition will look like? I am assuming there will be new bathrooms and concession stands in there for the people even clear up high like myself. Will there be escalators etc to get people in and out? Hopefully the access will be better than it is for the north stadium up high!
  9. I requested to be moved to the new section when it was offered to season tickets last fall/winter. I called the ticket office a couple of weeks ago and I was told that they would be mailing out notifications by the end of May. I am still waiting to see if I get to move or not. I really want to know!!!
  10. Gotta get win 1 tomorrow out of the chute. If we have a chance at all, which with our bullpen shortcomings I really am beginning to doubt, we gotta get to the championship game in as few games as possible. It would have been nice to get the first round bye to help in that regard but the debacle Saturday against Michigan prevented a shot at that. Lets come out mad and put a whooping on the Wolverines to pay them back for the 19-9 game and move on to Beat the Buckeyes. Starters need give us quality starts to preserve the bullpen which basically consists of 2 guys at this point. Vogt and Roeder are the only guys who are somewhat consistent. Vogt can have issues but from what I have seen Roeder is money. It is a big park so hopefully the offense can get going, lots of hits and movement on the basepaths. Lets put pressure on everyone early and often. GBR!!!
  11. We don't need better PR. You start by not letting guys like Harland Gund (2007 - now plays for the Falcons), or Trevor Robinson (2008 - Bengals), or Shaun Prater (2008 - Bengels), or Jon Lechner (2009 - beast @ Ohio) get out of state. Robinson is the only one of these we recruited hard. ...and you maybe take some risks on James Davis (2009), or Bryce Dietz (2010 - who's having a solid start to his career at Ohio), or Cole Fisher. You definitely grab a state champion wrestler Mike Shoff (2012), and possibly a small town kid with a good frame in Drew Ott (2013). Instead we move in and gave the Nebraska scholly's to Sutton when we were looking desperate at TE (which may turn out ok), or to Marsh knowing he'd likely never play QB here, or Tyler Evans who was a speedster but a stretch behind the talent we have at WR. Historically this state does not produce a lot of talent at the skill positions. I'm sure someone will list off a bunch - but you can probably list of 4 times as many linemen. However, some of the most dominant guys in the trenches have been Nebraska born. It starts there. We had how many walk-ons starting on the OL last couple of years? And those are just the ones that we didn't let get away. If we'd given out some scholarships to some local kids the lines might look a lot different. There's big, smart kids with a ton of drive in the state. They don't all have to be expected to walk-on. I think we need to re concentrate our efforts to fill the pipeline there. A start yes but I don't think we get to winning conference and national titles on that alone. Am I in favor of getting as much local talent on the roster as possible, sure. Within the state, 500 mile radius you bet. Don't care where they come from they just need to get here and compete. I do like the idea of the local/walk on mentality in terms of work ethic etc but we need the horses. In terms of PR/marketing I was getting at could/should we run campaigns in areas known for producing elite talent in TX, FL and CA to put our brand in the minds of hs coaches and players to consider us more?
  12. Well that is good, I had not heard of that. What else can we do? It is good to be recognized by the media but how can we translate that to recognition by potential recruits and ultimately getting those recruits on campus to win us titles in Lincoln?
  13. Winning helps but we got to get the talent to win. How do we go about getting the stud players in the trenches to chose us to get where we are winning and it is not as much of an issue? We have to turn the tide somehow and create some buzz. It is a which came first the chicken or the egg question.
  14. I know that we have partnerships with marketing firms regarding advertisements in the stadium etc but what do we do in terms of PR and other marketing? I have noticed that other schools on their websites list the coaches and also list their twitter handle to follow them on twitter. I know we fight an uphill battle with recruits and the like in terms of exposure in more talent rich parts of the country. I hear quotes from them that they are hearing from Nebraska but don't know much about them and the like. I mean this is not the mid 90's anymore. Most of these kids were in diapers when we were dominating. What are the rules for a university to put together a PR campaign to really get our brand out there and get noticed? Advertisements, social media, what ever to really bring about some solid brand awareness for our athletics programs. Would there be an opportunity to really break the mold and become cutting edge in this department? I know Bo is not much of a twitter person and is not so much in terms of social media either but could we use the additional staff in the department to do some of this stuff? Could we partner with a PR firm or Marketing firm to really push our brand? Would it be worth it to do some of the stuff Oregon and Ok St do to really get our name out there to recruits? I just feel that the 500 mile radius is important to concentrate on but even in that I don't think we can get back to winning titles and keeping up with the SEC and the Ohio St's of the world. We really need to be smarter and better on all levels. What do you think Husker Nation? What can we do to regain an edge and get back to winning like we all want to? Recruit, recruit, recruit! GBR!!!
  15. Nebraska doesn't get a full share until 2017. Not sure how this all works out or if that can be negotiated to be sooner or what. The specifics of the transition to my knowledge have not been fully released.
  16. Depends on who you talk to. Some say the ACC GOR thing is not a signed thing yet so until it is then the ACC schools may still be in play so they are thinking Florida State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia etc. Outside of the ACC you are looking at teams in the SEC or Big 12 although they have things in place to prevent teams from leaving in the Big 12 the SEC does not, here they are talking about Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Vanderbilt, Missouri etc. Beyond that you have Notre Dame but they just extended with NBC until like 2025 or something so I doubt that would happen unless they had to make a move also they are in with the ACC in all sports other than football. Outside of that you are looking at teams in smaller conferences.
  17. I've heard it goes into effect after Maryland and the ACC settle their case...and considering both sides had an agreement in principal recently... ...oh, and yes, it's also out there that the ACC could have settled a lot sooner, but since they saw their court battle with Maryland was keeping expansion forces at bay, they strung it out so they could hammer out the GOR to try and lock stuff down. If true...this could mean that Delaney got played, big time. Also, don't forget that Virginia has all but "formally" applied for B1G membership. Would be interesting to see if that still happens before the GOR goes into effect, or if they stay where they're at. In addition everything I have read says that all ACC members are on board to keep the conference together. Of course it can all be positioning but what I read specifically pointed out the this agreement included FSU so forcing the the B1G's hand to join now may not be in the works. Just what I saw.
  18. Sounds like the League has asked for granting of media rights to hold the league together until like 2026. That may make things interesting if it goes through like ESPN is reporting. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9200081/acc-media-rights-deal-lock-schools-okd-presidents
  19. So overall I am a traditionalist and all but what if we thought outside of the box in terms of something different on the field. I have always thought the eye of the tiger that fades out at mid field at LSU was pretty cool or the checkered endzones in Tennessee? Those are just a couple of ideas but I am sure there is something out there that could put us more cutting edge. We have always been cutting edge in terms of technology, weight room, nutrition etc but seem to have fallen off in that respect. There needs to be a balance of tradition while still keeping up with the times and staying "cool" in the eyes of modern kids. Just an idea?!?!
  20. There's not enough room on the endzone sides to add anything; the edges of the grandstands are already right up against the back edges of the field. Ok so we can scrap the suites in the endzones idea if they can't fit the suites under the stands, but I still say we do the rest.
  21. I still say the next expansion should lower the field bringing in the seating to closer to the sidelines making the stands to run parallel to the sidelines rather than the rounded effect seen now (like OK St and OU etc) and then you could put more suites right on the field in the endzones etc. This would put more people in the stadium, make those seats right behind the benches better and allow for suites to be put right on the field etc. More money, better fan experience etc. When they replace the turf just lower the field several feet and make it so!
  22. You are grandfathered into the amount of donation you are currently making and they do not ask you to pay more unless you want to improve your seats, so if you have 50 yardline seats and have had them since 1965 and are paying face value for the seats but only making a $100 dollar donation you will continue to do so until you die, give them to someone else or cancel the tickets. So when I get older and want to pass on my seats to my children I can do so but they will pay current market value for them to transfer them in their name or if I cancel them the next person will pay more than I did.
  23. So they were talking about season tickets for Husker Football this morning on the radio this morning. It sounds as though there are still some available for this upcoming season with the stadium expansion and the like. I am a current season ticket holder and have been for 3 or 4 years now. It is something that I plan on keeping up as long as I can and am in no way complaining about pricing or anything by this post, just curious what everyone else thinks. My question, for those either in the know or are into marketing etc out there, how do you keep something cool while making increased revenues without raising prices too high that you price out the average consumer? I hear stories of people that have great seats and have had them for ever and pay almost nothing above their face value for the seats and then there are people who pay more for not as good of seats. Like everything else the prices have gradually gone up over time. Is the general public reaching their max in terms of what they can pay for season tickets and that is why there are still some available? Do some people think there is a huge waiting list and therefore do not even try hence the availability? What are your thought about the seat license or donation that season ticket holders have to make? Are there other areas the University can use to increase revenues while passing on some of that back to us by controlling the amount we have to pay? What ideas do you have out there to combat this issue? It is always hard when you have something of value keeping it valuable and increasing revenues while still making it accessible to the entire fan base. What say you Husker Nation?
  24. Have this bookmarked on my computer and this time of year I check it almost every day. Thanks for sharing!
  25. That is really cool. I am looking forward to this being done. I just went to Lincoln for the first time in a long time this last week and there are already a bunch of new restaurants down town. This development, the addition of the Research and Development park where the fair grounds used to be, CIC funding and being in the big ten will hopefully lead to a major increase in the student population over the next several years. All of this together could make Lincoln into a much more happening place. This can only be good news to lure more kids away from their homes in more talent rich parts of the country!
